Two dear special ladies, Ms. Green, and Ms. Daisey. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, from 10:00 until 11:00 am at Hillcrest Baptist Church and at other times at the home of Cindy Baxley, 110 Hazel Lane, Raeford, NC The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Pastor Eric Rich officiating. Mary Ann was born in Elizabethtown, NC on February 2, 1957, to Edna Beaney and the “late’” Marion Bowen, and preceded in death by her infant sister Carol Denise Bowen.
She had a servant’s heart and cared deeply for her family. Her cooking was the centerpiece at family dinners, her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and in all her years of working outside the home she was loved by her employers and customers. Her most recent job at “The H.E.L.P Store” brought her a great deal of accomplishment in the community that she lived in because she was a big part of their outreach programs.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband Lloyd Brewer of the home, daughter Debra Brown of Hope Mills, NC (Lewis Brown) and son Jeffery Brewer of Louisburg NC (Heather Brewer) her Mother Edna Beaney of Hope Mills, NC and Brother Dennis Bowen of Raeford, NC (Veronica Bowen) and Five Grandchildren Dustin Powell (Shandi Powell) Landon Brewer, Thomas Brown, Logan Brewer, and Clara “Grace” Brewer and a Great-Grandchild Jaxon Powell.
Visitation will be held Monday April 4,2022 from 12pm-1pm at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford, NC 28376.
Memorial Service will be at 1pm on Monday at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis Bowen officiating.

Obituary Preview: Rebecca Gay Steadman-Smith, died April 1st, 2022, in her home in Florence, SC. She was 66
years old. An adventurous person at heart, Rebecca loved to travel. She Graduated High School in 73 and spent some years working as a Playboy Bunny in the mid to late seventies. She then went on to become a flight attendant, where she would spend over thirty years in service traveling the world on a weekly basis. Always a big fan of crime documentaries, she even spent some years as a corrections officer and a private investigator. Aside from her intrepid career paths, she indulged in other creative hobbies such as designing and creating stained glass windows,
painting sweatshirts, and inventing household gadgets. She loved wine, music, and dancing, and could always be found at the heart of any gathering. Rebecca died peacefully in the midst of friends and loved ones, following a 6-year battle with cancer. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Sarah and Mallory, her grandson Edison, mother Patricia Holt Steadman, and her brother Mike. She is also mourned by her beloved dogs, Sophie, and Gracie, who were never far from her side. “There is nothing that is invincible for a soul as spirited as you…yet you bowed down to death to honor God and his will. Rest in Peace.” Rebecca will be laid to rest with a graveside service on Sunday, April 10th at 2pm. at the Raeford Cemetery In place of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in her honor to your local animal
rescue.

Darlene was employed for thirteen years with the Hoke County Soil and Water Conservation and was a home daycare provider for sixteen years in Raeford, a job she truly enjoyed.

Mr. Hoffmann was born in Jacksonville, FL on April 13, 1934, to the late Karl George Hoffmann Sr. and Grace Haddock Hoffmann. He was preceded in death by his wife for over 50 years Marilyn Lewis Hoffmann, his son Gilbert Steven (Steve) Hoffmann, his brother Karl George Hoffmann Jr, and his companion Geraldine Black.  Mr. Hoffmann served in the US Navy and was an active member of the Community United Methodist Church where he loved bringing others to Christ. He was employed with Chevron until he retired and took over the family farm in Raeford, NC. He enjoyed playing card games every week with his friends. Mr. Hoffmann loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela H. Henry, and her husband Terry of Rudy, AR. A daughter-in-law Jeanine Hoffmann of Louisville, KY. Seven grandchildren, Matthew Hoffmann and his wife Nicole, Eric Hoffmann, Colton Henry and his wife Kimberlyn, Erin Hoffmann, Chandra Schumacher and her husband Scott, Andrew Hoffmann, and Cierra Henry. Five great-grandchildren, Owen Hernandez, Phoenix Schumacher, Anthony Hoffmann, Kinsley Chandler, and Maddox Henry. Then he was employed by Novant Health Hospital Systems from 2010-2015 in Winston-Salem NC. In March 2015 he landed his dream career with the Fayetteville Veterans Affairs Hospital. On his days off he volunteered as a Math, Science and World History tutor to the youth of Cumberland County.
It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God's divine will that we announce the sudden death of George Michael Ndirangu of Raeford, North Carolina, USA on 21st March 2022.
He was a lovely husband to Thomasina Journette and a doting father to Wilfred Kamau Ndirangu, Eric Thuo Ndirangu, Everlyn Njeri Ndirangu and Mitchell Musa Ndirangu, one granddaughter Angela Nicole Kamau. He was the son to the late Joseph Kamau Musa of Githunguri, Kiambu County and Margaret Njeri Nganga of Ireland.
He was the eldest brother to the late Rose Wanjiru, Jane Wambui, Pauline Nyokabi, Hellen Hassan, Barny Hassan and James Munene..
He was an uncle to some and a friend to everyone. George was a genuine and kind-hearted person and will be solely missed by family, friends and co-workers.
May his smile and laughter forever remain in our hearts. George leaves a great legacy behind with in his Family. Obituary Preview: Patricia "Pat" Brock of Boiling Springs, SC formerly of Raeford, NC passed away March 14, 2022, after a lengthy battle with pulmonary fibrosis at age 77.  She was born to George and Esther Besse at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, NC on June 5, 1944.  She was predeceased by her mother and father and a brother, Stanley Besse.  She is survived by her former husband, Harold Brock of Rockfish, NC, her only child, Dr. Donna McGee of Boiling Springs, SC, her sister and her husband, Connie and Bob Heath of Rockfish, NC, and her loving poodle Zoey.
After graduating from Seventy-First High School, Pat went on to cosmetology school and served as a beautician in Raeford for years, sharing laughs, secrets, and joy with many of the town's residents.  Pat never met a stranger and could talk to anyone about anything.  Her teenage friends and former co-workers remained dear to her throughout her life.  She was "mother" to many others besides Donna, including Sara, Melanie, Jennifer, and Kimberly and shared their struggles, joys, family vacations, laughs, and great food including her famous "Rockfish Taters".
A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday at 3 pm on March 20, 2022, at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford, NC.  Time with family and friends will be held there from 2-3 pm.

Don Douglas McGuire - September 27, 1943 - March 09, 2022

Obituary Preview: Don Douglas McGuire was born to the union of Rev. D. Leon McGuire and Georgiana Tyndle McGuire in Hickory, NC on September 27, 1943. He was joined together in holy matrimony to his loving wife, Ann Lewis in Louisville, KY on January 8, 1974.  This union was strong, one that lasted for 48 years and remains to this day a stellar example of marriage. Out of this union they raised two loving children, Kenny and Angie. Don served for over 20 years in the U.S. Army. He was a Vietnam veteran and spent many years serving his country all over the world.  He received numerous awards and medals, among which were 4 Bronze Stars. After retiring, he then began a second illustrious career at the Pentagon in Washington, DC for The Department of Defense from which he also retired with full military honors. Don was very popular and had many friends who cherished him.  He was known to travel across country visiting family and friends on a regular basis (always with his buddy and love of his life, his wife Ann by his side) He especially loved to gather up his sisters and brothers and travel to other states simply to experience the joy of being together. He had a tremendously great love for family and never ceased to express it every day. He was truly an example of what true love is. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. D.L. and Georgiana McGuire; brothers and sisters whom he loved dearly: Marvin McGuire, Leon McGuire, Calvin McGuire, Annie Parsons, Mary Joyce Samples, Patricia Riley, Gloria Jean McGuire, and Bernice Withrow.
He leaves to cherish, his loving wife, Ann McGuire of Raeford, NC; a son Kenneth (Kim) Merrill of Lexington, KY; daughters, Angela Williams of Raleigh, NC, and Dereasa Jennings of Wilmington, OH; two (2) grandchildren, Ashley Bell of Greensboro, NC and Juvon Williams of Raleigh, NC two (2) great grandchildren, Jamil Williams and Jordyn Williams of Raleigh, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside services will be held 10:00 am on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Sandhills State Veterans with full military honors.

She is survied by her husband David A. Davis of Raeford, NC, two daughters, Vicky Garner (James) of Raeford, NC, Evelyn Marie Wade (Larry) of Weatherford, TX., three grandchildren  Megan Stone of Raeford, NC, Nicholas Shukers (Destiny) of WA, Bryan Wade of TX, and a brother, Charles Howk of Hope Mills, NC.

Mr. Zomerdyke was born in Paterson, NJ on February 5, 1942, to the late Daniel Alowishus Zomerdyke and Frances    Stoller Zomerdyke. He was a member of Ephesus Baptist Church where he was a member of the church choir. He was an employee of Haven Business Forms as a salesman for 30 years. Dan was a volunteer fireman for 28 years with the Freehold Independent Fire Department in Freehold, NJ. He was employed with the Millstone Theaters, where he was known as “Mr. Dan The Movie Man” He is survived  by his wife Joy Mary Devine Zomerdyke of Raeford, NC and a daughter Loren Zomerdyke of Raeford, NC,
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday at Ephesus Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Sanderson officating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
