Obituary Preview: Joseph Michael Skylondz was promoted to eternal life into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at the age of 55. He lived his life to the fullest when he met his now wonderful, loving wife, Angie and his beautiful “Bonus” daughters loving on him all the time and always calling him daddy. He loved riding his ATV on all the country roads and being in the great outdoors camping with family and friends. His family was number one, along with his 12-year-old dog, Roxy, and he especially enjoyed giving his twin brother, John a hard time. He loved carpenter work of any kind and enjoyed turning trash cars into treasures!
He worked for Dave Evans Trucking for twenty-eight years as a diesel mechanic. He loved his job and considered his boss, Dave as one of his best friends. He will be missed by all of us!
Joe is survived by his wife, Angie, and bonus daughters, Carolann, Jordon, and Isabell; his mother, Gloria; twin brother, John (Trisha); brothers, Mike (Amy), and Tom (Ann); Aunt Peggy and Uncle Chuck, and many extended family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his dad, John Jr.; brother, Bill; sister, Tonya, and his grandparents, John Sr. and Sis and Granny Roo.
A Celebration of Joe’s Life will begin at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the Log Cabin, 2821 County Road E in South Range, WI.
Joe will be buried with his dad at Lakeside Cemetery in South Range at a later date.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Log Cabin and family and friends for all your love and support during this difficult time.

Nicky J. Jester - August 31, 1958 - September 07, 2022

Obituary Preview: Nicky J. Jester, 64, of Superior, WI passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Superior Health and Rehabilitation Center. Nicky was born in Harris County, TX on August 31, 1958, the son of Cecil and Carol (Danielson) Jester.
Nicky graduated from Jefferson High school in Bloomington, MN. He then went on to graduate from the Dakota County Area Vocational Technical Institute with a degree in Wood Finishing and worked for years refinishing furniture. Nicky also worked as a CNA in Superior. He drove cab for many years in the Twin Ports and was affectionately known as “Nick at Night”. After relocating to Texas for a period of time he drove cab in the Houston area. Nicky most recently worked at the Lakeville Holiday Station store as a clerk/stocker for many years before relocating back to Superior.
Nicky was an avid music lover, particularly Rock & Roll, and he especially enjoyed going to concerts. He also enjoyed watching college football, reading, fishing, and camping.
Nicky is survived by his children Rachel (Ben) Greenlee of New York; Chloe Moyer, Superior, WI, Amber Bourgoyne, Two Harbors, MN, and Asher (Lynsey) Floyd, of California; brothers Terry Jester, Wi; Danny (Ann) Jester, Eden Prairie, MN; Tommy (Nancy) Jester of Superior, WI; sister Tammy (Richard) Ellwood, Duluth, Mn, several nieces and nephews, and special companion “Pete the Parakeet”.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff on the 3rd floor of the Superior Rehabilitation Center for taking such great care of Nicky.
Per Nicky’s wishes, no services will be held.
The family will hold a celebration of life for Nicky on Saturday. Oct. 8th at VIP Pizza in Superior from 5pm-8pm.

Kenneth served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1976-1980. He worked various jobs throughout his life. He loved being outdoors, fishing, hunting, and going to different parks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Jane Ostrowski.
Kenneth is survived by his son, Kenneth Ostrowski Jr., Superior, WI; sister, Margie (Tim) Brown, Superior, WI; his significant other, Rhonda Dahlen, Superior, WI, and special friends, John Ball, and Annie and Tom Kyrola.

He is survived by his children, Zach Solots and Shaylea Grindle, of Hibbing, MN; mother, Cheryl A. Purcell; brother, Ryan Purcell, and niece, Olivia Purcell-Windsor of Connecticut, and grandmother, Gloria Solots, Buffalo, MN.
He is preceded in death by is grandfather, Thomas Solots, and Uncle, James Solots. Christopher enjoyed working on his 1966 Chrysler Newport, racing, and building his nitro cars with his son, Zach. Chris enjoyed making people laugh with his quick wit. He will be so deeply missed!
A Celebration of Life for Chris will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 2-6:00 PM at the Gopher Bar & Grill, 402 N. Central Ave., Duluth, MN. We invite you to come and share memories of Chris with us.

Dr. Kenneth A. Yarnell - March 28, 1938 - August 12, 2022

Obituary Preview: Dr. Kenneth Adams Yarnell, 84, died on August 12, 2022, while camping in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota. Ken was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Russell and Grace Yarnell. The family moved to Columbus, Ohio, where Ken grew up, graduating from Upper Arlington High School. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Business and from The Ohio State College of Dentistry. Ken remained a Buckeye fan his entire life.
Ken first practiced dentistry as a Captain in the US Army at Fort Sheridan, Chicago, Illinois. He was then in private practice in the Madison area ending his career at Madison Family Dental Associates where he practiced for many years, retiring in 2011. Ken was a member of the American Dental Association, the Wisconsin Dental Association as well as the Dane County Dental Society where he held several offices including President. He was honored by both the Wisconsin Dental Association and the Wisconsin Dental Association Foundation for his service and leadership to the Dentists Concerned for Dentists program. Dr. Yarnell personally assisted more than one hundred Wisconsin dental professionals on the road to recovery. The WDA Foundation was proud to present him with the 2011 WDA Foundation Philanthropic Award for his years of work in the Dentists Concerned for Dentists program. As a member of the Wisconsin Dental Association, Ken served as a delegate to the Wisconsin Dental Association Annual Session and was chairman of the Communications Committee for several years.
Ken was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church of Madison and served as a Deacon. He was an active AA member receiving his 40-year sobriety medallion earlier this year. Upon retirement, Ken volunteered with the Tomah VA Hospital as a volunteer driver, and with the Salvation Army in Sauk County. Ken was passionate about fly fishing including tying his own flies, downhill and cross-country skiing, bicycling, canoeing, backpacking and wilderness camping.  He frequented the Boundary Waters, where his favorite time of day was referred to as “The Witching Hour,” where as the fog lifted, the beauty of the Boundary Waters came into view. He was a die-hard Ohio State Buckeyes and Green Bay Packer fan, and welcomed any opportunity to watch a game, either in person or on television.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, twin sons Todd and Troy, and brother-in-law Dale Schossler. Survivors include his wife-equivalent Marie Finley, ex-wife Sandy Yarnell, their children, daughter Tracy Yarnell, her husband, Joaquin Lira, their children Sera, Bailey and Mateo Lira, son Randy Yarnell, his wife, Marie, their children Allison and Sawyer, as well as his brother, Jeff Yarnell and wife, Sandra, of Columbus, Ohio, his nieces and nephews Robin Schossler, Jason Schossler, Natalie Yarnell Lukachyk and Brian Butterworth. He is further survived by Marie’s children, Scott Jurgensen, Jamie Jurgensen, her husband, Andrew Gerrish, their son, Sam Gerrish and Jennifer Jurgensen, her husband, David Eck and their children, Genevieve and Margot Eck as well as ex-wife and friend, Barbara Bauer, and sister-in-law, Paulette Caruso.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday evening, September 13 from 4-8 p.m. at Olbrich Botanical Gardens, 3330 Atwood Avenue, Madison, Wisconsin. She married Robert C. Warner Sr. on October 18, 1952. He truly was the love of her life, and she has now happily reunited with him in heaven.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Carl (Delores) Pellman, George (Eleanor) Pellman; sisters Irene (Jerry) Parenteau, Ruth (Ken) Beckman and Delores (Ron) Gramer; grandsons Louis Johnson and Jeremy Raivala.
She is survived by her son Robert (Kay) Warner Jr.; daughters Debra (Michael) Johnson and Kathleen (Jimmy Sr.) Raivala; grandchildren Jimmy Raivala Jr., Erin (Tim) Helenius, Jon (Katie) Raivala, Rachel (Elson Pagsisihan) Warner, Samuel (Rhea) Raivala, Peter Warner, Clayton (Katy) Johnson and Mary (Nick) Pitzen; 21 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Edith went through Corner School in Maple, WI and later graduated from Superior Vocational School as a L.P.N. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran church where she served as Financial Secretary for 11 years as well as being a member of the Mary Circle and Altar Guild. She loved knitting, crocheting, traveling, playing cards and bingo, jigsaw puzzles and dancing. Her vibrant personality as well as her hearty and contagious laugh will be missed by many.
The family extends their sincere thanks to Twin Ports Health Services for their kindness and excellent care given to Edith during her stay there.

Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother and will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Rebecca "Becky" Mattson, Superior, WI; children, Aidan Mattson, Crystal Kihanya, Nickolas (Brooke) Mattson, Sidney Green, and Tristan Green; grandchildren, Nevaeh, Lincoln, and Daisy, and one expectant grandchild due to arrive in June; sister, Carolyn Buchanan; brothers, Jeffrey (Jodi) Mattson, Darrell Mattson, and several nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Joseph E. Balcer Jr., 77, passed away Tuesday April 12th, 2022, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN. He was born in Superior, WI, November 26th, 1944, the oldest son of Joseph and Adrianne (Van Massenhove) Balcer Sr.
Joe worked for the Douglas County Sheriff Department and Superior Police Department as a Jailer, Deputy Sheriff, and Emergency Dispatcher. He retired in 2000. In his youth, he loved driving the Wrecker for Allouez Garage.
He was married for 55 years to his devoted wife, Arlene "Suzie" (DeBrock) Balcer. They resided in Superior, WI, and upon retirement moved to Henderson, NV and then to Summerfield and Ocala, FL. Together, they loved to travel around the United States, playing keno and taking several cruises.
Along with his wife, Joe is survived by his son, Todd (Mary) Balcer, Superior; granddaughter Sara Balcer; son Brian (Andrea) Balcer, Niceville, FL; grandson Brandon Balcer; great-grandson Bryson Balcer; sister Linda Balcer; brother Richard (Cheryl) Balcer; sister-in-laws Judy Ford; Terry (Jamie) Ross; Cookie (Ron) Lundberg; and several nieces and nephews.
Joe was a loyal Green Bay Packer fan and NASCAR enthusiast. He enjoyed the City of Superior and would ride his bike all over to keep track of the growth and development of the City. In his years of ill health, Joe enjoyed apartment living which gave him beautiful views of the water and the activity surrounding it. He received exceptional care from the physicians and medical staff at St. Luke's Hospital as well as the University of Minnesota Medical Center.

He was married for 55 years to his devoted wife, Arlene "Suzie" (DeBrock) Balcer. They resided in Superior, WI, and upon retirement moved to Henderson, NV and then to Summerfield and Ocala, FL. Together, they loved to travel around the United States, playing keno and taking several cruises.
Along with his wife, Joe is survived by his son, Todd (Mary) Balcer, Superior; granddaughter Sara Balcer; son Brian (Andrea) Balcer, Niceville, FL; grandson Brandon Balcer; great-grandson Bryson Balcer; sister Linda Balcer; brother Richard (Cheryl) Balcer; sister-in-laws Judy Ford; Terry (Jamie) Ross; Cookie (Ron) Lundberg; and several nieces and nephews.
Joe was a loyal Green Bay Packer fan and NASCAR enthusiast. He enjoyed the City of Superior and would ride his bike all over to keep track of the growth and development of the City. In his years of ill health, Joe enjoyed apartment living which gave him beautiful views of the water and the activity surrounding it. He received exceptional care from the physicians and medical staff at St. Luke's Hospital as well as the University of Minnesota Medical Center.

Mary had a strong faith and enjoyed sharing that faith with others. She was a fun-loving spirit and especially loved music and dancing. She will lovingly be remembered for her smile and joyous spirit by the residents and staff of St. Ann's Residence. Above all, she was a loving mother and grandmother, and especially loved spending time with her family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Dave was a Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes winter crew from 1968 to 1998.
Dave met his wife Joetta in 1969 and they were married September 19, 1970. They would go on to have 2 boys and several businesses throughout his life where he and his wife would work side by side. Dave and his family had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the United States and Hawaii.
Dave was an avid gardener and loved to do canning. He was a great cook and loved to throw a party or bonfire. He built three homes and was one of the hardest workers you would ever know, a "Jack of all Trades" for sure.
Fishing was one of his most joyous pastimes; his boat was his pride and joy. He was a generous man and was always willing to lend you anything, offer a helping hand, give you a job or money. He loved his family and his friends and was proud to be your friend.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joetta; son, Brian (Ann) Godden, of Auburn, Washington; grandson, Jacob; granddaughter, Tessa Godden; sisters, Susan Buresh and Nancy (Pete) Remer; brother, Rick (Sue) Godden; and many nieces and nephews and very special friends.
