Born in Greenville, SC, she was a daughter of the late James W. Tarrant and Carrie Lee Rice Tarrant.
Edna cultivated a strong sense of family values and a deep love for animals, always having a special place in her heart for her beloved dogs. She was known for her vibrant personality, possessing a fun spark that brightened the lives of those around her. Despite facing life's challenges, Edna remained independent and carried herself with grace and resilience.
Edna's caring nature extended beyond her family and friends. With a thoughtful and giving spirit, she found joy in bringing happiness to others. Her handwritten notes, thoughtfully included in every card she sent, served as a reminder that she always had her loved ones in her thoughts. This small gesture made a lasting impact, creating cherished memories for those fortunate enough to receive her heartfelt messages.
During her working years, Edna dedicated her time and energy as a telephone operator, working for Southern Bell Telephone Company. Her commitment to her role showcased her dedication to serving others, always displaying a positive and helpful attitude. Even after her retirement, Edna continued to find ways to contribute to her community, holding various part-time jobs to make a difference in the lives of those around her.
Outside of work, Edna enjoyed spending quality time with her friends, creating lasting memories and sharing laughter. She remained an active member of her church, Tremont Church of God, for as long as she could, finding solace and strength in her faith.
Edna leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished moments. She is survived by her loving sister, Pat Tarrant; stepdaughter, Nancy Stover; sister-in-law, Meredith Tarrant; nephews, Jimmy Tarrant (Connie), and David Tarrant (Ericka); niece, Cindy Tarrant Hetey (Steve); four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many great and great great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she was preceded in death by brother, James Henry Tarrant; and step mother, Mary Tarrant.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Tremont Church of God, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
Memorials may be made to Tremont Church of God, 2854 New Easley Hwy, Greenville, SC 29611.
