Patti Lynn Durflinger was born to Bill and Joanne Maynard on April 30th, 1951, in Ottumwa, Iowa, Patti's life was defined by her unwavering commitment to family, education, and community service. She breathed her last in the embrace of the town she adored, Eldon, Iowa, surrounded by the love of those who cherished her most.
Patti was a devoted partner to her husband of over 53 years, Terry Durflinger. Together they raised two daughters, Meghan (Donnie) Rogers and Tara (Eric) Benson. Her love and lessons live on in her beloved grandchildren: Gavin, Mia, Samantha, Olivia, and Haley. Her presence will also be sorely missed by her siblings, Billye Jo (Loren) Burnette and Marc (Jeanetta) Maynard, along with numerous nephews, nieces, and a tight-knit community of extended family and friends.
Following her education at Cardinal High School, Patti married Terry at Eldon Christian Church, the same church where she later shared her musical talents as a dedicated pianist and taught both Sunday School and Vacation Bible School classes. Her initial career path led her to become a trusted hairdresser after cosmetology school. Still seeking to contribute to the lives around her, Patti returned to college. Her passionate pursuit of knowledge saw her earning a teaching degree, followed by a Master's, and culminated in a rewarding tenure teaching both at Cardinal Community Schools and in Ottumwa, from where she ultimately retired.
Beyond her professional achievements, Patti's passion for her town left it’s mark on Eldon. She honored the service of veterans by contributing to the Avenue of Flags at the Eldon Cemetery and by organizing patriotic Veterans Day Programs at her schools. Her leadership and enthusiasm were evident through her active membership in TTT, PEO, and service on the Eldon City Council. She held pivotal roles in Eldon Uptown/Downtown, American Gothic Performing Arts, and the American Gothic House and Center. Patti's love for history and her hometown was evident as she co-authored a book documenting Eldon's past. Her involvement extended into numerous areas. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and was a supportive presence at her children and grandchildren's events. An adventurer at heart, she loved to travel and experience new cultures. Above all, Patti was a mentor who significantly influenced the path of many young lives.
Patti demonstrated what it means to serve God, family, and community with an open heart. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and those who called her friend.

John "Jack" Leonard Fisher - March 14, 1923 - April 06, 2024

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon, IA with Pastor David Birdsall officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery near Douds, IA immediately following the service. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church and last until the time of service. John “Jack” L. Fisher was born on March 14, 1923, in LeClaire, IA to John and Hazel Gilbert Fisher. His early years were spent in a one room schoolhouse until the 8th grade, after which he joined the workforce, helping several local farmers. He worked briefly for a bakery in Davenport, but it was his marriage to Martha Oliver on Christmas Eve of 1947 that set the course for a lifetime of love and companionship. Following their wedding, the couple resided with Martha's parents until settling in rural Douds, where in 1952 they purchased their family farm—a place that would see them work side by side for the rest of their lives.
In addition to maintaining the farm, Jack worked at Barkers in Keosauqua and as a USPS mail delivery truck driver. He also spent 10 years as a dedicated employee at Rockwell until his retirement.
Jack was a gifted musician who could play the violin, guitar, and bass purely by ear. He and Martha traveled to various music festivals, sharing their love of music, and creating memories. When Jack had time to himself, he enjoyed reading a good book on history or old trains. He will be deeply missed by his family and the many friends he made along the way.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John L. Fisher and Hazel Gilbert Fisher; his loving wife of over 70 years, Martha Fisher; and his four siblings, Calvin, Hazel, Dorothy, and Richard. His legacy continues through his remaining family: his brother, Bill (Pat) Fisher; his four children, Lonnie (Nellie) Fisher, Kathy (Dee) Decker, Linda (Leon) Connelly, and Gary (Kamala) Fisher; seven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Rebecca was born on November 21, 1965, to David & Karen Russell in Fairfield, Iowa. She attended Cardinal High School and went on to obtain her CNA license.
Rebecca married her first husband, Robert Sloan in 1985 and they were blessed with three children: Jeremy, Amber, and Robert Jay. After the two divorced, Rebecca met her soulmate and the love of her life, Richard Dye in 1994. The two were married in 1999.
Rebecca began her career as a CNA, where her compassionate spirit truly thrived in her 21 years of service. She later joined the Maharishi School family as a Facilities Manager in 2005. For 17 years, Rebecca blessed the school with her humble smile that could put anyone at ease. From children to the elderly, everyone loved Rebecca. Her good nature represented the good that we all need every day in our lives. She was fearless (except when it came to bats) and independent, yet sensitive and kind which left an impact on many. Rebecca retired from Maharishi School in 2022.
Rebecca was an avid lifetime member of the NRA. She enjoyed camping, riding motorcycles, shooting handguns and clay pigeons with her family. They went on annual trips to many states (including Canada) on their motorcycles.
Rebecca will be greatly missed by her husband Richard Dye; her children, Jeremy (Kelly) Sloan of rural Drakesville, Amber (Eric) Beal of rural Agency, and Robert Jay Sloan of Ottumwa; her grandbabies, Kaylynn & Russell Sloan of Drakesville, and Marshall Greiner & Carter Beal of rural Agency; and her stepfather Dick Campbell of Eldon. She is also survived by a sister Debra (Dan) Durflinger of Eldon.

Steve Rupe was born on November 25, 1947, in Ottumwa, IA, to the late Richard M. and Reva Redmon Rupe, Steve's journey was one of dedication, love, and a deep connection to the land. A graduate of Cardinal High School's class of 1966, Steve's heart led him to marry his high school sweetheart, Donna Yochum, on February 5, 1967, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church Ottumwa, IA. The same year marked the beginning of his honorable service in the United States Army. Steve's enduring union with Donna blessed them with two sons, Richard and Michael.
After serving his country, Steve returned to the job he had held in high school, working as a farmhand for the late George Israel farm. In 1974, Steve purchased his initial 160 acres. There, he crafted not only a home for his family but a growing farm that under Steve and Donna's careful stewardship, expanded to over 1200 acres. His partnership with his son Richard in 2002 to establish Hilltop Ranch ensured that the legacy of farming he so adored would endure through generations.
Steve was a man whose life was synonymous with the land he farmed. Known for his skill as a cattleman, he had an innate connection with his livestock and a respect for the soil he cultivated. Farming was not just his occupation; it was his passion and his way of life. Steve often chose to walk the acres of his land. On these walks, he would engage in his favored hobbies, hunting for arrowheads and spotting mushrooms, always keeping a watchful eye on his beloved cattle.
Steve is lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Donna; his sons, Richard (Sarah) Rupe and Michael Rupe; three grandchildren; his brothers, Max and Tony Rupe, and a lifelong friend, Dale Weller. His presence will be missed but ever-present in the winds of the changing seasons that sweep across the vast pastures of Hilltop Ranch and in the hearts of his family and those he called friend.

Douglas Martin Newby was born on January 4, 1972, in Ottumwa, IA. He was the son of Larry Newby and Marcia Essary. While growing up Doug enjoyed BMX racing, but his first love was basketball. Doug spent numerous hours at the YMCA playing basketball, practicing layups, free throws and 3-point shots. All this practice paid off for him when, during his senior year of high school playing for the Cardinal Comets in Eldon, IA he set a new school record of 43 points, eight of them being 3-pointers. Besides his love of basketball, he enjoyed working out and entered numerous body building and deadlift competitions.
Doug is survived by his greatest love and joy, his daughter, Shelby Sanders; grandson, Ryker Sanders; his parents and two brothers, Matthew Canny of West Des Moines, and David Poncelow of Elkhart.
Doug was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lloyd “Gene” and Helen Liles of Eldon and his paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Louise Newby of Donnellson.

Larry Lonell Grove was born on May 29, 1945, in Durant, Oklahoma. He graduated from Morton, TX before moving to Iowa. He served his country with pride and honor in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, exemplifying his unwavering sense of duty until his honorable discharge. After returning from the service, he found employment with the Rock Island Railroad in Eldon until its closure. He was united in marriage to Wilda M. Kempf, with whom he welcomed two beloved sons, Josh and Ben Grove. Although their paths later went separate ways, Larry's commitment to his children never wavered.
Larry began working for Marvin Creech and then Hormell. Finally, he settled into a gratifying career with Rockwell, from where he would eventually retire. In his early years Larry loved the outdoors. He could often be found fishing or looking for mushrooms. As time passed, he loved to sit uptown and visit with anyone who would listen.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his children, Josh and Ben (Kim) Grove; grandchildren, Logan, Gavin, Mason Grove, and Andrew (Suzzie) Murphy; and a great-grandchild, Trey Murphy. His legacy is also celebrated by his siblings, Peg Bleything, Lynn (Bob) Dively, and Mike (Merry) Grove, along with a host of extended family and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ellen Boettcher Grove, his sister Jean Huff, and brother-in-law Gary Bleything.

Mindy Lynn Fligg entered this life on September 28, 1964, in Des Moines, IA the cherished daughter of Roger and Myrna Fligg. Mindy attended Ruby Van Meter School in Des Moines before moving to Marshalltown in January of 1982. She graduated from the Pleasant Hill School District in 1985. Mindy lived at the Central Iowa Residential Services, Inc in Marshalltown and worked at the Mid-Iowa Workshop. In 2021 she moved to the Accura Nursing Home in Ogden, IA.
Mindy was a kind and loving person. She had a smile and a hug for anyone that she met. She lived her life always looking at the positive and enjoying every minute.
Her memory will be cherished by her parents, Roger and Myrna Fligg; her brother, Kevin (Lynn) Fligg; two nieces, Danielle (Seth) Kenne, and Lindsey McAllister; a nephew, Landon (Kim) Lacy; three great nieces, Karlee and Kyla Kenne, and Rowyn McAllister, as well as many extended family and friends. Jack Edward Chickering was born on July 21, 1942, in Ottumwa, IA to Frank and Doris Johnston Chickering. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Druecilla Fitzsimmons on June 21, 1964. Together they became the loving parents of two children, Joan and Rex. Jack worked hard to support his family. He spent several years working for the Holiday Inn in Ottumwa and also in Dubuque. He then began working for Rockwell International in Fairfield until his retirement in August of 1997.
Jack was gifted at woodworking and enjoyed redoing old pedal tractors. He always looked for an opportunity to add a new toy truck or tractor to his collection. Jack was also a proud member of Grace Church in Ottumwa, IA. Above all, family was the most important thing in his life. Jack will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Rex Chickering; a granddaughter, Kyleigh; and four siblings, Max, David, Jay and Janet.

Sharon Frances Sedore was born on August 21, 1940, in Moline, Illinois. She grew up in Silvis, IL and attended and graduated from United Township High School in 1958. It was during this time that she penned a letter to a young man in the army, Merle "Toad" Sedore, igniting a love story that would span over five decades. The couple exchanged vows on November 26, 1966, and began a journey filled with love, laughter, and mutual respect.
Sharon began her career as the assistant City Clerk of Silvis, Illinois, and worked at various establishments including the American Cafe, Beeding Trailer Sales, and Earl's Trailer Sales. Alongside her mother Gladys, Sharon co-owned the American Cafe from 1967 until 1970. Her career path led her to the Mobile Home Park as the Office Manager, and she later became a secretary/teller for the president and vice president of the First National Bank of Eldon. She also worked for eight years at Hawthorne Communications, and dedicated 21 years to Aschenbrenner Trucking, Inc.
Sharon's life was rich with community involvement and personal interests. She was a proud member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls (IORG) and shared her love for camaraderie and competition in the Tuesday night bowling league for two decades, serving as treasurer for 17 years. Her commitment to her community was further exemplified by her 12-year tenure as the secretary/treasurer of the Eldon Volunteer Fire Dept. Auxiliary.
A woman of many talents and hobbies, Sharon found joy in a variety of activities. She relished her trips to the casino to play the slot machines, and her hands were rarely idle as she engaged in sewing, gardening, and crafting. Yet, nothing compared to the love she had for her family, especially her grandbabies, who were her pride and joy.
Sharon's legacy is carried on by her loving family. She is survived by her two daughters, Tanya (Steve) Fordyce of Fruitland, IA, and Crystal Thompson of Eldon, IA; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Brandon) Williams, Shayla (Dallas) Gilleland, Shad Fordyce, and Courtney Sedore (Devon Yeo); four great-grandchildren, Quinn Williams, Ridge Williams, Rowan Gilleland, and Briggs Yeo; three siblings, William Fox, Earl (Bobbie) Fox, and Larri Fox, and two sisters-in-law, Betty Lee and Barb Kildow.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Gladys Fox; and Myrl Rosson; her beloved husband, Merle "Toad" Sedore; and her sister-in-law, Barbara Fox.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home with visitation being held from 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be held from 11:00 am-2:00 pm on Monday, January 15, 2024 at Cranston Family Funeral Home, Fairfield, Iowa. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society.
Bela was born October 1, 1935 in Nyergesujfalu, Hungary to Jano and Anna (Puchner) Hummel. He was united in marriage to Wilma J. Raney on October 17, 1959.
Bela came to the United States in 1957 and became a US Citizen in 1962. Bela worked at Continental Cement Plant, formerly Dewey Portland, in Buffalo, Iowa for 33 years. He retired May 1990 and moved to Eldon, Iowa in June of 1990. Bela enjoyed hunting, bowling, his family and making friends. He made friends everywhere he went.
Those left behind are his loving wife, Wilma; daughters Ida Murray, Davenport, IA and Eva (Gary) Bussard, Milan, IL; grandchildren Kristy Ramos, Lisa (Randy, Jr.) Perkins and Julia Mills all of Davenport; great-grandchildren Amber, Lillian, Jordan, Olivia, Alisha, Miguel, Lavar and Gianna, all of Davenport; and sister Julianna (Hummel) Istvanne Urban, of Hungary.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and brother Geza Hummel, all of Hungary.

Ronald Arthur Ragen Sr. was the cherished son of the late Harold and Frances Shaw Ragen. He grew up alongside his siblings, Mariann, Sharon, Ernie, and Warren. Ron's life was enriched by the love of his devoted wife, Norma Ragen, whom he married in Mars Hill Church on September 25, 1976. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Ronnie (Shelly) Ragen, Josh (Heidi) Ragen, and Sara Ricard, who in turn blessed Ron with five grandchildren, Ethan, Riley, Launa, Alexis, and Carter. Ron also was fortunate to have many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A proud graduate of Cardinal Community School in 1965, Ron answered the call of duty by enlisting in the United States Air Force in March of 1967. He served his country with honor as an airplane mechanic until his honorable discharge in March of 1971. His commitment to his community continued as he began working for Wapello County Secondary Roads, dedicating 33 years of service until his retirement in 2003.
Ron's dedication to Eldon was further exemplified through his volunteer work with the Eldon Fire Department, where he not only served as a volunteer firefighter but also as the respected Fire Chief for several years. His love for his country was only matched by his passion for the outdoors, where he found joy in hunting and fishing. Ron was also a skilled woodworker, creating beautiful furniture that will serve as lasting tributes to his craftsmanship and attention to detail. He will be deeply missed by his family and the many who called him friend.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Warren.

Hal Martin Brooks was born on December 1, 1957, in Riverside, CA to Vonnie and Shirley Penrod Brooks. The family moved to Iowa during Hal’s middle school years, and he began attending Cardinal Community School. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Evelyn Hart. Hal went on to graduate with the Cardinal Class of 1976. He furthered his education at Indian Hills where he went through the automotive technician program and eventually on to diesel mechanics school. Hal and Evelyn began their life together as husband and wife on September 8, 1979, at the Ottumwa Baptist Temple. Together they became the loving parents of two boys, Jason and Jeremy. Hal began a successful career as a diesel mechanic for several large trucking companies including Ruan Trucking and Walmart Distribution, as well as driving a truck for Gayle Alexander. He was a dedicated employee and worked right up until his health would no longer allow. When Hal found time away from work, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved stockcar racing and put his skill as a mechanic to good use helping drivers and even building a few cars. Hal’s true love was his family. He cherished every moment that he had with them by his side.
Hal was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mark Brooks.

Paul Frank Smith was born on November 4, 1932, in Ottumwa, IA to Frank and Ruhama Hart Smith. He attended school in Batavia, IA graduating with the class of 1950. On June 26, 1955, he was united in marriage to his best friend, Nancy Walker. Together they became the loving parents to three children: David, Paul, and Jay. Paul was a loving father and provider. Nancy and Paul worked together to open Hawkeye Real Estate in Ottumwa, IA. They served the Ottumwa and surrounding area until 1983 when they sold the business and moved to San Antonio, TX. He worked as a full-time real estate appraiser until 2021 when he returned to Batavia, IA. Paul enjoyed studying the Bible and enjoyed spreading the gospel, in later years through the Kairos Prison Ministry. His presence will be missed by his family and many friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David Paul Smith and Paul Frank Smith II, and his wife Nancy.

Karen Kay Campbell was born on December 3, 1945, to Thomas and Charlene Naffziger Roberts. She graduated from Cardinal High School in 1964 and soon after, in 1965, she married David Russell. Their union was blessed with three children: Randy, Becky, and Debb. Although Karen and David later divorced, she found love again with Richard Campbell. They married in 1974 in Rock Island, IL, and remained devoted to each other for 49 years.
Karen's work history was as diverse as it was fulfilling. She began her career as a waitress at the Southside truck stop and later worked at the Fairfield Glove Factory. Following her passion for beauty and personal care, Karen returned to beautician school in Ottumwa and started her own beauty shop in Eldon, IA. Her dedication and hard work led her to the United States Postal Service, where she served as Postmaster in Brighton, IA, and subbed in Eldon before retiring after 17 years from the Ottumwa location.
Karen and Richard loved to travel, spending 12 winters in Texas with their RV. Karen was the designated driver during their travels, which spanned most of the United States. She also had a green thumb, with a particular fondness for gardening. In her quiet moments, Karen enjoyed reading and later in life, she developed an interest in genealogy. Above all, Karen was a steadfast supporter of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, often traveling to watch them in their activities.
Karen was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Charlene Naffziger Roberts, her son Randy Russell, and three of her siblings, Rose, Keith, and Jack.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Campbell, her two daughters, Becky (Richard) Dye and Debb (Dan) Durflinger, both of Eldon, IA. Karen's legacy also lives on in her five grandchildren, Jeremy (Kelly) Sloan, Amber (Eric) Beal, Jay Sloan, Felisha (Austin) Deao, and Samantha Frasher, and her ten great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her two sisters, Delores (Gene) Hite and Sue Bartlett.

Naomi Rose Lathrop Grunwald was born July 24th, 1931, to Charles and Caroline Hewitt Liles. She was one of sixteen children in her family. Naomi married Melvin Lathrop December 24th, 1947. Together they were parents to five sons. Melvin passed away in 1997 and later Naomi met and married Robert Grunwald.
Naomi worked a variety of jobs throughout her life. She enjoyed gardening and always had beautiful flowers. She was talented at quilting and sewing and always gave her finished pieces to family and friends to enjoy.
Naomi was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Melvin, her second husband Robert, ten brothers, Albert, Dwight, Frank, Pardon, Everett, Emmett, Bill, David and Gene, and four sisters, Sarah Talbott, Mary Liles, Rachel Greene and Ruth Boliou.

Heidi was born June 3, 1960, to Skeeter and Geri Hidy. Heidi loved spending time with friends and their many family camping trips. After graduation from Cardinal High School in 1978, Heidi attended Northeast Missouri State University where she graduated with her degree in Elementary Education in 1982. Heidi was an active member of the Campus Christian House, and often recounted stories from her missions trip she took part in; including going door to door in New York City.
Heidi married Randy Belzer on July 17, 1982 at Meadowbrook Christian Church in Kirksville, MO. They were blessed with four children and four grandchildren. Heidi taught for 29 years and impacted so many lives during that time. She taught at Green City Elementary, SIEDA Head Start, Living Hope Bible Church Preschool, and Cardinal Elementary School. Heidi was an avid reader and loved collecting dolls and visiting doll shows with her mom and Aunt Marion Shriver. Heidi was an active member of The Church in Ottumwa and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandkids.
Heidi is survived by her husband of 40 years, Randy; her children Lauren (Steve) Stone, Jerrod (Courtney) Belzer, Melissa (Bryan) Hartmann, Hannah Belzer; her father Skeeter Hidy; brothers John (Shirley) Hidy, Jim (Angie) Hidy; sisters Karla (Philip) Fitzsimmons, Lynn (Joe) Hermann; and her 4 grandchildren, Bailey Belzer, and Elliot, Oliver and Levi Stone; and many nieces and nephews.

Rita was born to the late Paul Vance Palm and Ercel Iowa Keller Palm, who lovingly raised her alongside her siblings, Bob Palm of Fairfield, Ron Palm of Ottumwa, Beverly Barns of Fairfield, Marlyn Wagner of Ottawa, IL and the late Lou Palm. Rita spent her childhood in Fairfield. She graduated from Fairfield High School. She married William Raymond Picken, he worked for Fire stone which took the couple to Indianapolis. Rita began pursuing her passion for helping others by earning a degree in Nursing in Indianapolis. The couple started their family and Rita dedicated her life to being a stay-at-home mother and homemaker. Rita's family grew to include her daughter, Pamela Picken of Ottumwa, son, Jamie Picken, and her late daughters, Janet Alexander and Rita Scherer. She was a pillar of strength for her family, always providing love, support, and guidance.
In 1992, after the passing of her husband, Rita began working as a nurse at Good Samaritan in Ottumwa. Her compassionate nature and gentle touch made her a beloved figure at the facility. Rita's dedication to her patients and the nursing profession exemplified her selfless spirit and commitment to caring for others. During this time, she also became a devoted member of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, where she found solace and a sense of community.
Rita's interests extended beyond her work and church involvement. She cherished spending time with her two grandchildren and loved to see them grow and flourish. Rita's family was her pride and joy, and she never hesitated to share her love and support with them. Her kind and gentle demeanor made her a cherished figure among her family and friends, and her presence will be deeply missed.
In addition to her daughter Pamela, stepson, Jamie, and siblings Bob Palm of Fairfield, Ron Palm of Ottumwa, Marlyn Wagner of Ottawa, IL and Beverly Barns of Fairfield, Rita is survived by her two grandchildren, who will carry on her loving legacy. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Paul and Ercel Palm, a brother, Lou Palm, and two daughters, Janet Alexander and Rita Scherer.

Patricia Joyce Fligg was born in Batavia, IA on March 23, 1939, the daughter of Donald and Alice Johansmeier Humble. She grew up and attended school in Batavia graduating with the class of 1957. During this time, she met a young man from the rival school in Eldon. Patricia and Fred were united in marriage on December 11, 1960, at the Methodist Church in Batavia. They lived a short time in Eldon before moving to Batavia where they lived for many years. Together they became the loving parents to four children: Theron Lacey, Tracey, Trudy, and Tobi. Patricia worked at several different places throughout her life but her full-time job, and the one she truly loved, was being a mother and wife. She was an excellent cook and always looked forward to preparing large meals for her extended family. Patricia was not only a mother to her own children but took care of anyone in the neighborhood who needed help. Fred’s work eventually took them to Atkins, IA, which they would call home for the remainder of her life. Patricia had a strong faith and always took time to study her bible attend church. She was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed ceramics, knitting, and crochet. Her presence will be missed but her memory will remain in the hearts of her family, and the many who called her friend.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Marjorie Teninty and sister-in-law, Linda Humble.

Lloyd Gene Liles was born on May 12, 1927 in Floris, IA to Charles and Caroline Hewitt Liles. He was one of sixteen children in his family. He grew up understanding the value of hard work. Gene entered the United States Army where he began working with the construction unit of the Army Corps of Engineers. It is here where his love of heavy equipment began. Gene met and fell in love with Helen Roth at a bible camp. The two were married and became the loving parents to three children. When he returned from his service he worked on a dragline at the coal mines in Missouri. He then moved back to Wapello County working for Ottumwa Brick & Tile for over 20 years before moving on to Estle and DeLong and eventually retiring from the Wapello County Secondary Roads. Gene’s only hobby was work. He was good at anything that he could do with his hands, from operator to mechanic. He was a devoted member of the First Assembly of God Church in Eldon and found comfort in his faith. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

Michael Eugene Boughton was born on July 17, 1952 in Burlington, IA to Harry and Darlene Miller Boughton. He graduated form Syracuse High School in Syracuse, KS and attended the Midwest Bible College in Oklahoma. In 1971 he returned to Iowa and began classes at Indian Hills Community College. Michael furthered his education at Indian Hills by completing the truck driving program in 1977 and the diesel mechanic program in 1982. During this time, he met Anne Eberhard. The two were married on June 19, 1975 and became the loving parents to one daughter, Michelle. They enjoyed 29 years together as husband and wife until Anne’s death in 2004. In 2006 Michael married Enid Fisher and they remained together for the rest of Michael’s life. Michael was a talented mechanic and was a lifelong truck driver. He trucked for several different companies but spent the most time working for TNT Trucking in Eldon. Michael always enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. His true passion was his family. He cherished every moment he had with his grandchildren and great grandson. He will be deeply missed by his family and those lucky enough to call him friend.
Michael was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his parents, and one brother, David Boughton.

The two began their life together as husband and wife on June 16, 1978. They lived in several places before settling near Batavia, IA. Geri worked for many years as a waitress at the Sandwich Shop in Fairfield as well as several other restaurants. She loved the people, and they loved her. Geri enjoyed a long car ride with Bob and her Dog, Bella. She always took the opportunity to go shopping and even if she didn’t buy anything, she would make up for it the next time she went. Geri was always protective of her family but never held a grudge and always had love in her heart. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
Geri was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Jamie Stevens Claymen.
Left to honor her memory is her loving husband, Bob Stevens of Batavia, IA; three children, Rance, Kirk, and B.J. and Janette Pratt, who was always thought of as a child; four grandchildren; three brothers, Dale, Tim, and Kevin, as well as many extended family and friends.

Craig Ray Heckenberg was born on February 27, 1959, in Fairfield, IA to Richard and Lucille Breuer Heckenberg. He graduated from Fairfield High School and immediately entered the workforce. Craig worked at several jobs throughout his life but always was around automobiles. He spent most of his life doing bodywork and painting cars for several different companies. Craig loved to spend time watching tractor pulls or looking for a good deal at an auction. He enjoyed anything that involved the outdoors and cared deeply for his family.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother-in-law, Mike Ross.
Left to honor his memory are his sisters, Marilyn (Karl) Henderson of West Burlington, IA, Marge Heckenberg of Fairfield, IA, and Connie Ross of Batavia, IA; one nephew, Cody Ross, as well as many extended family and friends.
