Obituary Preview: Jerald D. Jones age 95, of Wheeler passed away Friday, April 26, 2024 at his home.Cremation rites will be accorded to Mr. Jones.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 am, Friday, May 3, 2024, at West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Rick Britton officiating. Military rites will be offered by Jasper Post No. 20 of the American Legion.
Jerald was born on March 30, 1929 in Newton, Illinois the son of Harold G. and Maude V. (Davis) Jones. Jerald served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He also served six years in Germany. On March 7, 1958, Jerald married Hazel Kennedy. They shared forty-seven years of marriage before her passing on September 10, 2005. Following his time in service, Jerald owned and operated a restaurant in California. He later returned to Jasper County. He owned, operated and was the mechanic for his auto repair shop and gas station in Wheeler, Illinois until his retirement. He liked being helpful to others. To his family and close friends, he always like to remind them that he was the Chief and liked being in charge.
Survivors include step-son David Rooks of Cameron Park, CA; great niece Katie Jones of Wheeler; caregiver Kari Schramm of Wheeler; and many nieces and nephews.
His parents, wife Hazel, daughter Sue Jones, brothers Gordon Jones and Mauriece Jones and sister Allice Lewis preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of service Saturday in the funeral home. Karen was born on March 13, 1966 in Effingham, Illinois the daughter of Jim and Dixie (Dale) Hamilton. Karen was home
health care giver and certified nurses aid. She loved blue grass music. She played the guitar, often playing for the family for hours at a time. She was an ordained minister. She loved to talk and visit with people. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her nieces, nephews and her dog.
Karen will be loved and remembered by her children Gage Stasser of Clay City, IL, Dakota (Taylor) Koester of Altamont and Kinder (Lance) Johnson of Florida; siblings Tina (Mike) Cole of Jewett and Jim (Dolly) Hamilton of Hunt City; brother-in-law Jimmy Shamhart of Wheeler; several nieces and nephews and companion George Tilton of Taylorville.
Her parents, sister Brenda Shamhart, and nieces Bridget Tyler and Mika Judy preceded her in death.

Gloria Susan Huckeby of Watson, IL., age 71, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the Effingham Hospital. Gloria was born February 9, 1953 in Denver the daughter of Richard and Gloria M. (Cozak) Huckeby. She was a graduate of the University of Colorado School of Medicine. During her Residency training at SIU School of Medicine she met Mark Dyer and they were married July 18, 1990 in Springfield, IL.
Gloria loved her work of being a doctor and served in several Emergency Departments of Central Illinois hospitals. She was gifted at communicating and was especially grateful when she could save a child or someone needing vital emergency care. Gloria liked tending her flower garden and hunting with her husband, Mark. She was an avid reader and had read hundreds of WWII history books leading up to, during, and after the war. She also loved science fiction and murder mystery novels. She liked sewing, crafts, puzzles, and so enjoyed caring for and doting on her three dogs, Duke, Ike, and Bandit. Like many doctors she had more interests and curiosity than there was time to pursue them. Attracting and feeding hummingbirds gave her great joy. Gloria had many talents and was so helpful and supportive to those she loved and who loved her.
Services and memorials are private.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Mark A. Dyer of Watson, IL, mother Gloria M. Huckeby of Louisville, CO. sister-in-law Cheryl Dyer of Effingham, sisters Karen of Lakewood, CO, Elizabeth (Jeff) of Louisville, CO, Tina (Peter) Gonzalez of Fayetteville, AR, and brother Michael (Kim) Huckeby of Albuquerque, NM. stepchildren Brody (Jen) Dyer of Cleves, OH, and Stacy (Matt) Burris of Springfield, IL, and grandchild Daisy Marie Dyer of Cleves, OH.
Gloria was proceeded in death by her father, Richard and her brother-in-law, Dr. Eric Dyer.

Joe was born on January 18, 1963 in Carmi, Illinois, one of 6 children born to the union of Jim and Margaret (Agles) Carey. On July 1, 1995, Joe married Heather Lynn Culver in Sam Parr State Park. Joe worked for Kirchner Building Center in Newton as a yard man and delivery driver.
In his free time, Joe enjoyed fishing and watching Western television show and movies. He was a fan of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt. He loved his family, his cats and was a proud grandpa to his grandson Theodore.
Joe will be loved and remembered by his wife of twenty-eight years, Heather Carey of Newton; daughter Megan Lynn Bain, husband Douglas of Montrose and son, Nathon Joseph Carey of Danville; and grandson Theodore Bain.

Richard Blaine Grogg - August 09, 1944 - April 06, 2024

Obituary Preview: Richard Blaine “Dick” Grogg age 79, of Newton, Illinois passed away April 6, 2024, at Newton Care Center. Dick was born in Richmond, Indiana on August 9, 1944, and was the only child of Thelma (Ball) and Denver Grogg. In 1962, his family moved to Mt. Vernon, Indiana where he graduated high school. Dick then attended and graduated from the International School of Broadcasting in Dayton, Ohio. He married Pamela Ann (Waelde) in July, 1964, and they had a son, Darrin Blaine, who died in infancy, and a daughter Jennifer Helen (Cullen).
The three had many memorable adventures as they travelled continuously for nearly two decades across the United States. Dick moved from radio station to radio station, climbing from on air personality to program director, and then to general manager. Untold number of long-lasting friends and golfing buddies were made along the way due to his wit, humor, and affable personality.
Dick and Pam ended their years of roaming, settling in Newton, Illinois surrounded by friends. Here Dick continued his life of civil service, volunteering his time to many local nonprofit events, as well as using his writing prowess and research skills on numerous fundraising and tourist-attracting efforts. While on the Tourism Board, he designed the Burl Ives monument, worked tirelessly for 6 years on fundraising to bring a bio-diesel plant to Newton, and contacted CD&I, the company who built the 1890 Embarras River Bridge, and persuaded them to donate money for the bridge’s repair. His presentation to the State Historic Preservation Office resulted in the bridge being included on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.
Dick loved golf, working on cars, writing novellas, and collecting antique radios and clocks. He was an exceptional artist, handyman and endless “tinkerer” who enjoyed building props for his daughter’s work, fashioning items for the house and yard, and building things for friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his mother, father and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his wife Pam, his daughter Jen (Mike), and his step sisters Kayla and Patty.

Randall was born on May 27, 1949, in Alton, Illinois the son of Leo Allen and Velma Eileen (Turner) St. Clair. Randall married Myrna M Coatney on October 2, 1967. She preceded him in death on April 19, 2020. Randall spent his working years as a truck driver for FS.
In his spare time, Randall enjoyed spending time outdoors. He enjoyed working in his yard and his garden.  Randall liked to hunt and fish.   He also enjoyed camping and hunting mushrooms with his wife Myrna. He was a great fan of NASCAR and enjoyed following the careers of many of its drivers.
Randall will be loved and remembered by his children Tammy Ericksen of Yale, Ginger Stoll of Olney, Ron St. Clair of Newton and Tim St. Clair of Newton; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a great-grandchild coming in August.
His parents, wife Myrna, son Randy St. Clair, Jr., great-grandson Drake Armstrong, brothers Jeff St. Clair, Tony St. Clair and Bob Simons and sister Vicky Bilbruck preceded him in death.

Thomas K. Hannaman - January 16, 1941 - April 02, 2024

Funeral services celebrating Tom’s life will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Chris Parr officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Newton. Military rites will be conducted by Jasper Post No. 20 of the American Legion.
Tom was born on January 16, 1941, in Wheeler, Illinois the son of Henry Edward Martin and Bethel (Hoopengarner) Hannaman. Tom married Jane Ann Parr in April of 1973. They shared thirty-nine years together before Jane’s passing on March 11, 2013.
The summer before his senior year in high school, Tom started work on the pipeline. Following graduation, he returned to pipeline, spending the next five years traveling all over the world including Peru, Argentina and Patagonia. Tom entered into the service of his country 1963. He proudly served in the United States Army. Following his military service, Tom spent twenty- five years at C.I.P.S. in Newton as a heavy equipment and machinery operator until his retirement in 2003.
Tom was a member of Jasper Post No. 20, the I.B.E.W. Local 841, and was presently attending the First Baptist Church in Newton.
In his free time, Tom enjoyed spending time outdoors. He liked to hunt, fish and shoot trap. He loved golf and enjoyed the time spent with golfing buddies at the links. Tom was an accomplished woodworker, having built many furniture pieces for his family. He was also a licensed auctioneer and would call area auctions on the weekends. While he enjoyed his many hobbies, Tom loved spending time with family and his many friends.  He was a true storyteller and loved to entertain people with his stories and jokes.
Tom will be loved and remembered by his children Brad Ackerman of Estero, Florida, Brett Ackerman, wife Laural of Newton and Julie Chapman, husband Randy of Newton; grandchildren Kayla Brodie, husband Marcus, Brittany Ackerman, Reid Ackerman, wife Lauren, Kyle Klier, wife Courtney, Mark Klier, Jackson Chapman and Lucy Chapman; five great grandchildren; brother, Gary Hannaman of Newton; sister, Susan Hannaman of Newton; nieces and nephew, Jo Beth Geier, husband John, Ed Hannaman, wife Kim, Jennifer Campbell, husband Chip and Kristin Duke, husband Jeff; and many great nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jane Ann, brother and sister-in-law Carl and Janie Hannaman, sister-in-law Betty Hannaman, niece Carla Worcester and nephew Nate Painter.

Stanley was born on October 22, 1958, in Effingham, Illinois the son of Homer James and Edna Lucille (Shull) Whitehurst. Stanley married Linda Beaulieu and to this union two children were born, Lindsay and Levi. On May 27, 2006, Stanley married Judith Ann Kerner. She preceded him in death on October 20, 2022. Stanley spent his life as a carpenter.
Stanley was a lifelong member of the Fairview Christian Church. In his free time, he loved gardening, cooking and grilling. He enjoyed camping and spending time around the camp fire with his family and friends. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan, second only to his brother Neil. Following the passing of Judy, Stanley got a boxer puppy. Apollo brought great joy and contentment to Stanley’s life.
Stanley will be loved and remembered  by his children Lindsay (Dan) Jayne of Newton and Levi Whitehurst of Newton; three grandchildren Mikayla Stone, Gavin Stone and Lillyan Stone all of Newton; great grandchild Payton Gibson and another great grandchild to be welcomed in May; brother Daniel Whitehurst of St. Louis; sister Connie (Rahel) Wagy of Newton; sister-in-law Debbie Whitehurst of Wheeler; and several nieces and nephews.

Susie was born on December 19, 1938, in Jasper County, Illinois one of eight children born to the union of Bernard “B.E.” and Ruby (Kincaid) Marshall. On August 1, 1955, Susie married Donald E. Andrews. He preceded her in death in 2011. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Susie was a hard worker. She worked at E.R. Moore, the shoe factory and later United Technologies.
Susie was a faithful member of Scott Avenue Christian Church. In her free time, she enjoyed quilting and working in her yard. She loved country music and enjoyed attending the area dances.
Susie will be loved and remembered by her daughters-in-law Shelly Andrews of Newton and Vaneta (Anthony) Gilio of Newton; grandchildren, Logan (Mikkel) Andrews, Deanna Douthit and Bill Andrews; four great grandchildren; sister Rosie McGee of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.

Rowena was born on March 27, 1946, in Willow Hill, Illinois the daughter of Ernie and Violet (Kidwell) Price. On May 27, 1961, Rowena married Michael W. Swisher. The couple shared fifty-five years of marriage before Michael’s passing on April 1, 2017. Rowena spent her life as a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was a life-long member of the Salem Missionary Baptist Church.
In her free time, Rowena enjoyed caring for her house plants. She was blessed with a green thumb and plants thrived in her care. The greatest joys of her life were her daughters and grandchildren. She thoroughly loved being a grandma.

Funeral services celebrating Henrietta’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services on Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Shiloh Cemetery, Willow Hill.
Henrietta was born on August 28, 1921 in Mattoon, Illinois the daughter of Benjamin and Etta (Tarrant) White. On July 27, 1936, Henrietta married Harold Leon Lingafelter. They shared fifty-six years of marriage before his passing on June 1, 1993. To this union were born six children, Daniel Lloyd, Jacqulyn Kay, Larry Kent, David Leon, Philip Lane and Lana Gail.
In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Henrietta worked as a seamstress for E. R. Moore Cap and Gown Company in Newton. Henrietta had a gift of sewing, crochet and needlework. Through the years, she blessed hundreds of people by volunteering to sew for the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville and making hundreds of quilts for the children’s homes.
Henrietta will be loved and remembered by sons David Lingafelter, wife Debra of Willow Hill and Philip Lingafelter, wife Camilla of Branson, MO; daughter Lana Lingafelter, husband Doug Staley of Newton; daughter-in-law Juanita Lingafelter of Palestine, IL; 21 grandchildren and many, many great and great-great grandchildren; sister Betty King of Robinson, IL and loving friend Mary Ann Sears of Willow Hill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son Daniel Lingafelter, daughter-in-law Mary Clyde Lingafelter, son and daughter-in-law Larry and Linda Lingafelter, daughter and son-in-law Jacqulyn and Joe McHenry, granddaughters Laura Kay McHenry and Cindy McHenry and siblings Letha White Lingafelter, Harold Leroy White, Rosabelle Bruner, Dorothy White, Floyd (Sonny) White.

Roberta was born on June 12, 1933, in Jasper County, Illinois the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Hamilton) O’Brien. Roberta married Kyle Mayo Barkley in St. Charles, Missouri on November 16th. He preceded her in death on September 18, 2015.
Following their marriage, Roberta and Kyle lived in California, both working for the Campbell Soup Company. They later returned to the Newton area. In addition to being a wife, mother and homemaker, Roberta worked at the shoe factory and E.R. Moore Cap and Gown.
In her free time, Roberts enjoyed cooking and listening to music, especially Johnny Cash. She and Kyle loved the television show Gunsmoke. She continued to watch the reruns every day. She liked animals and enjoyed spending time with her daughter’s dog. Through the years, Roberta attended the Cummins Church and Farina United Methodist Church.
Roberta will be loved and remembered by her daughter Shelly Miller of Newton and brother Robert O’Brien, Jr of Arkansas.
Her parents, husband Kyle, and siblings Betty O’Brien, Mary Urfer, Melba Frew and John O’Brien preceded her in death.
Special thoughts and memories from Shelly ~ Growing up, I fondly remember mom in the kitchen, cooking and canning. And her dad, spending time outside gardening or building something. Nobody could make a fried chicken dinner with frosted carrot cookies for dessert, like my mom. While my mom took me to church and taught me to cook, my dad taught me to read, to write and everything I would need to know about playing sports. They were my parents. They will live on in my heart and memories forever.

Robert was born on December 19, 1940, in Clay City, Illinois the son of Joseph and Mildred (Wilson) Finn. Robert faithfully served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS America. In 1970, Robert married Linda Maples. She survives.
Robert was a retired truck driver. In addition to trucking, he served as the Jasper County Sheriff in the late 1970’s and spent several years racing horses.
Robert will be loved and remembered by his wife Linda Finn of Newton; sons Brock Finn of Newton and Brent Finn, wife Tonya of Wheeler; grandsons Wyatt and Braydon; brother Jim Finn of Newton and sister Joanne Finn of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Tom Finn.

Funeral services celebrating Raymond’s life will be held at 12:30 p.m., Monday, January 8, 2024, at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Pastor Phil Boyd officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m., Monday until the time of service in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery, rural Willow Hill, with military rites being conducted by Jasper Post No. 20 of the American Legion.
Raymond was born on January 27, 1944, in Flat Rock, Illinois the son of Leo and Freda (Mitchell) Miller. Raymond faithfully served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he married Rose Mary Dallmeir. To this union were born five children, Joyce, Rose Ann, Ray, Melinda and Benjamin.
Raymond worked for McQuay Norris SKF in Casey, Illinois for sixteen years. He and Rose owned and operated Garage Sale & More in Hunt City. Having taught him-self, Raymond was a skilled repairman and repaired many appliance for their store. He was also skilled in mechanic work, especially for older model vehicles. He and Rose currently were operating Miller Mini Storage in Hunt City. Raymond was a member of the Hunt City Congregational Christian Church.
In his free time, Raymond enjoyed old style country music. He played guitar and played with the Hunt City Little Opry. He enjoyed playing cards and dice, watching old westerns and telling and retelling old Dad jokes. He loved bacon. Raymond loved bacon so much, he could often be found wearing a bacon themed ball cap. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Raymond will be loved and remember by his wife of fifty-seven years, Rose Mary Miller of Willow Hill; children Rose Ann Valek, husband Paul of Wichita, Kansas, Ray Dean Miller of Yale, IL, Melinda Russell, husband Bob of Newton, Benjamin Joe Miller of Hunt City; grandchildren Zachary Valek, Jacob Valek, Nicole Valek and Alex Valek, Trenton Dean Miller, wife Peyton, Sara Lynn Miller, Megan Lynn Miller, Elizabeth Nicole Russell, Alison Nicole Reeves, husband Samuel, Renae Nicole Russell and Amber Nicole Russell; great-grandson Cooper Ray Miller; and three sisters Loretta Maddox of Robinson, Ella Logan of Olney and Donna Adams of Oblong.

On August 13, 1993, Tammy married Greg Webb in Olney, Illinois. He survives. Tammy was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Her greatest joy was her family and spending time with them.
Tammy loved spending time outdoors. She enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting. She liked to take drives through the country and listen to music. She loved animals and caring for them, especially horses and her dog, Abby.

Rosemary was born on January 22, 1934, in Bible Grove Township, Clay County, Illinois the daughter of Oscar and Laurel (Webster) Childers. She was a graduate of Flora High School. Rosemary met the love of her life, Merle A. Elmore. The couple married on February 24, 1953, in Long Beach, California. They shared sixty years together before his passing on December 31, 2013.
In addition to being a wife and mother, Rosemary was a seamstress for E. R. Moore Cap and Gown. She later left the factory, returning home to work alongside Merle on the farm. Together, they raised their crops, repaired machinery and spent their time being together on the farm.
She was faithful member of the Newton Christian Church. In her free time, she enjoyed crafts and was a very good cook. She was an excellent seamstress, fashioning clothing for her daughter and herself. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother and a great farmer.
Rosemary will be loved and remembered by daughter Marilyn Miller, husband Fred of Newton; granddaughters Rebecca Kennedy, husband Kevin and Emily Shull, husband Caleb both of Newton; great grandchildren Michael Kennedy, Amelia Kennedy, Brooklyn Shull, David Shull and Natalie Shull all of Newton; brother Larry Childers, wife Alice of Flora and sisters-in-law Beverly Childers of Flora and Joyce Childers of Colorado and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Merle, brothers Charles C. Childers and Robert W. Childers and sister and brother-in-law Norma and Edwin Henson.

Henry was born on September 10, 1945 in Sevierville, Tennessee, to Edith (Rains) and Henry Minton Sr. He married Debra Balding from Newton, IL, on August 5, 1989. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Amy (Minton) Thiery of Mapleton, Greg (Francine) Minton of Peoria, Matthew (Jennifer) Fustin of Rockford, and Drew (Alexis) Fustin of Chicago; grandchildren, Charles Thiery, Michael Thiery, Kody (Grace) Minton, Seth Smith, Nicole Minton, Gracie May Minton, Nora Fustin, June Fustin, Elliott Fustin, and Graham Fustin; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Pattie (Minton) Knudson, Dennis (Sue) Minton; mother-in-law, Nelda Balding; and many other relatives. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded by his parents; father-in-law, Neil Balding; his sisters, Linda Norman, and Judy Robinson; and son-in-law David Thiery.
Henry retired in 2009 as a Sergeant from the Peoria Police Department after proudly serving for 39 years. He was a member of the Peoria Police Benevolent Association. In his free time he enjoyed being outside, driving his tractor, working on his farm, and especially burning yard waste. He loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events and watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Henry was an avid horseman and had a passion for raising and showing his horses. He was a hard working man and made sure to stay busy. At the age of 15, he stepped up in raising his siblings, and he was both an amazing mother and father to his two children.
Henry was a strong, proud man, who took care of others before himself.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 1, from 5pm to 7pm at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Graveside services and burial will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, IL, at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2023. Crain Funeral Home, Newton is assisting the family with local arrangements.

Ted was born on October 22, 1957 in Olney, Illinois the son of Ted and Jean (Johnston) Barnhart. Ted graduated from ERHS with the Class of 1975. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1976-1979 aboard the USS Roark No. 1053. On February 20, 1982, Ted married Debbie Burgess. They shared thirty years together before her death on August 10, 2012.
Ted was a retired truck driver. He drove for ABF where he was awarded the 1 million mile safe driver award. He later became the business manager for the Teamsters Union Local No. 510 in Mokena, Illinois. He retired from the union in 2021. Ted was a proud veteran, member of the American Legion and the Teamsters Union Local No. 510. In his free time, he enjoyed collecting US Navy and trucking memorabilia.

Malissa was a member of the Potter’s House Ministries. In her free time, she loved to spend time with her family and loved being a Nana to her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and the family pets. She also enjoyed flower gardening and was known to have a green thumb.
She will be loved and remembered by her husband Kenneth McCaslin of Newton; children Joshua A. McCaslin, girlfriend Lana Ordner of Wheeler and Adria L. Military rites will be offered by Jasper Post No. 20 of the American Legion.
Philip was born on June 12, 1946, in Olney, Illinois the son of Bernard and Dolores (Dorn) Kuhl. Philip was a graduate of Newton Community High School, Class of 1964. Following high school, Philip continued his education at Eastern Illinois University, graduating in 1968 with a Bachelor of Education. He enlisted into the U.S. Army where he served from 1968-1970 during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged as a Specialist 4.
On April 13, 1978, Philip married Donna Marie Rubsam. She survives. The couple received blessings from God in their children, Theresa, Anne, Emily, Douglas and Gregory.
Philip was a heavy equipment operator for Doll’s Inc. in Olney, Illinois. He retired from Dolls after forty-one years of service. Philip was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton. He was a fifty-three year member of the Jasper Post of the American Legion and a fifty-six year member of the Moose Lodge.
Philip had a love of life and of family. He enjoyed spending time at the cabin and being outdoors. He also loved music. In his early years, he sang in choir and performed in madrigals. Later, he enjoyed music with his favorite dance partner, Donna. They attended the local dances, enjoying a waltz and the two step. He liked listening to country music as well as rock-n-roll. When singing became difficult Philip began to whistle, adding his special touch to the hymns in church.
Philip will be loved and remembered by his wife of forty-five years Donna Kuhl of Newton; children Theresa Coker of Newton and Anne Kuhl of Newton; Emily (John) Stephenson of Olney; Douglas Schneider of Claremont and Gregory (Paula) Schneider of Terre Haute, IN;11 grandchildren; sisters-in-law Ellen Kuhl Patridge, husband Lee of Ingraham and Jan Kuhl of Ingraham .
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Art Kuhl and Larry Kuhl, infant sister Mary Kuhl and sister-in-law Mary E. Stuckey.

Lois was born in Newkirk, Oklahoma on May 2nd 1934 to Charley E. and Katie (Guest) Masters. She was one of twelve children.
Lois worked in food service and restaurant management many years of her life. She retired at 65 from Denny’s in Effingham then went back to work at Parklanes in Newton three months later. She continued working for 15 more years.
Lois was preceded in death by her son, John P. Spence, Jr., her parents and 10 siblings.
She is survived by children, Robyn, Scott and Victor all of Newton; sister Barbara Beck of St. Elmo and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed.
At her request, Crain Funeral Home has assisted with the cremation. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.

David was born on February 5, 1961 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of James and Virginia (Hamilton) Schackmann. David served his country for eight years in the United States Marine Corp. Following his time in service, he managed high rises in Hawaii. He later return to the main land where he worked in construction and landscaping.  David liked working with his hands and staying busy.     He loved being outdoors and fishing.

Bill was born on June 22, 1946, the son of Woodrow and Helen (Dale) Mulvey. Bill was a graduate of Newton Community High School, Class of 1964. He served his country in the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam Conflict. He was stationed at Osan Au Base, South Korea from 1965-1967. On April 6, 1974, Billy married Diane Williams. She survives.
In his early years, Bill was a journeyman carpenter, working in construction for ten years. After the completion of the CIPS/ Ameren power plant, Bill started work in operations and water treatment. He retired after twenty-seven years at the plant.
Bill was a dedicated member and faithful servant of the Falmouth United Methodist Church. In his free time, Bill enjoyed helping others. He also liked to spend time outdoors hunting, fishing and taking fishing trips. He loved being a grandpa and taking the grandkids, as well as the neighbor kids, on side by side rides. They named the side by side “The Bat Mobile” on which they had wonderful adventures and created many memories.

Erlene was born on February 5, 1925, in Palestine, Illinois the daughter of Kyle Wilbur and Mary Jane (Ray) Swinger. On December 14, 1941, Erlene married Eugene Edward Hall in Wright City, Missouri. They shared fifty-seven years together before his passing on July 12, 1999.
Through the years, Erlene wore many hats. During the war, she worked for the Pure Oil Company. She later worked at the telephone office, the Wakefield Feed Mill and as a bookkeeper and farmer. Her greatest jobs were that of wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Her many memberships include the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, American Legion Post No. 80 Auxiliary Olney, Noon Bridge Club, St. Thomas Alter Society, Smallwood Home Extension, Newton Chapter No. 497 Order of the Eastern Star and the Stephens Breeders of Mt. Cur Coonhounds.
In her free time, Erlene enjoyed art and painting. She owned Erlene’s Ceramic Shop, where she taught classes and used her talent to paint on saws. She enjoyed traveling and spending time outdoors, fishing, mushroom hunting and coon hunting with Eugene. At the age of 90, she had a desire to play the piano and began taking lessons.
Erlene will be loved and remembered by her son Mike R. Hall, wife Sherry of Dundas; daughter Patricia McCluney, husband Bill of Effingham; grandchildren Stacy Matson, husband Keith of Newton and William P. McCluney of Bradenton, Florida; great-grandchildren Ethan Matson, wife Bridget of Newton and Kayla Matson of St. Louis; sister Bonnie Craig of Indiana and several nieces & nephews.
