Eleanor Louise Burley - March 16, 1932 - March 22, 2024

Departed: 03/22/2024 (East Liberty)
Obituary Preview: Obituary
Eleanor Louise Burley answered when her name was called to come home.
Eleanor Louise Walker was born on March 16th 1932 to James C. Walker and Emma Burns Howard. She was educated in the Pittsburgh Public School System. She attended Lincoln Elementary School until the eighth grade before she dropped out to go to work.
She held many different jobs in her life including waitress, barmaid, a clerk at a local laundromat-dry cleaner, and a cashier at a store around the corner from the house where she lived.
She always tried to do what she thought was right. She was a woman that had her wild nights like anyone else, but she took care of what was important.
Eleanor married Chuck Scott and that union produced two sons, Gilbert C. Scott and Charles G. Scott.
Eleanor married again, her second marriage was to Benjamin Burley Sr, and that union also produced two sons, Benjamin Jr. and Theodore (Ted).
Eleanor separated from Ben and then she was employed in the Housekeeping Department of the DeAngelus Convalescent Home.
Having the desire to both do and be better, she made the decision to go back to school and get her G.E.D. and she reached that goal.
She felt the hand of God supporting her, so she joined different churches looking for her home. She joined the East Liberty Lutheran Church and was an affiliate member at the time of her death.
After a back injury she received at the DeAngelus Convalescent Home, she retired. She then started to be a caregiver for a woman in Penn Hills, the father of a family, and a friend of a mutual acquaintance.
She was diagnosed first with Multiple Myeloma Cancer and then Cervical Cancer. She closed her eyes and went home to be with God on March 22nd.
She leaves to mourn: her eldest son Charles and his wife Charlette, her youngest son Theodore (Ted). Grandsons Aaron Jackson and Andre Brown, Granddaughter Amber Worthy and her husband Eric, and a host of family and friends.
