Obituary Preview: Denise L. Pakutz Peace, 67, of Apollo, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with her illness.  She was born Friday, October 26, 1956, the daughter of the late Nick Pakutz and the late Louise Nagy Guntrum.  Denise worked at the Salvation Army Thrift Store as a sorter for numerous years prior to her illness.  She was an avid Steeler fan.  Loved to watch lifetime movies, hanging out with family and friends around the bonfire, and listening to country music.  She was a firecracker and will be greatly missed.  Denise is survived by her husband, Louis Peace, of Apollo, a daughter, Ashley Peace, of New Kensington, her grandson, Garrett Kerr (who she truly cherished) and her son-in-law, Matt Kerr.  She is also survived by two brothers, Greg Pakutz and Jeff Pakutz, and his wife Lorrie, all of Butler, a sister, Nikki Haffner, and her husband, Rocky, of Eugene, Oregon.  Also survived by her sister-in-law’s and brother-in-law’s; Mary Sidick, Marlene Peace, Mellissa Peace, Mike Peace and Steven Peace all of Apollo.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her in-laws, Elizabeth “Betty” and Louis “Mack” Peace.  The family would like to give a special thank you to Good Samaritan Hospice for the services they provided for Denise during her illness.  At Denise’s request, there will be no viewing and funeral services are private.

Parente, a son, Shawn Ruzzi, and his wife, Tammy, of Coos Bay, Oregon, 2 brothers, Duane Ruzzi, and his wife, Sheila, of Salina and Gary Ruzzi of Pittsburgh and a sister, Janice Schroderbeck, and her husband, Ray, of Salina and two grandchildren, Kai and Kian.  At his request, all arrangements are private.

Obituary Preview: David L. Held, age 61, of Lewistown, passed away on April 11, 2024, while under the care of UPMC Altoona. Born October 28, 1962, he was the son of Bonnie Eden and Otha Kennedy. Dave worked as a machine operator for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors, working with his hands, and classic rock, especially Boston. Above all, he was a devoted father, grandfather, and companion who will be dearly missed. Dave leaves two children, Johnathon (Emily) Held and Leah Nagel; his two granddaughters, whom he adored, Nalayna and Zophia; his companion of over a decade, Lori Boob; his siblings, Donald Held, Melinda Schultz, and Frank Held; and his father, Otha Kennedy to cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his mother. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Dave’s honor to Brain Injury Association of America (www.biausa.org/support/donate-your-way).

Obituary Preview: James Edward Rowe fell asleep in death Tuesday, April 2, 2024. He was born to the late Tommie and Mildred Woody Rowe on April 18, 1941 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania as the second of seven children. James Rowe was a graduate of Ken High school circa 1961 and later enlisted in the army. While enlisted he met his wife, Mae Bell Walters Rowe (deceased), to whom he was married 48 years. James valued education and never lost his desire to learn new things. He could often be seen watching the History or Discovery Channel or reading the Bible or faith based publications. He also had an interest in technology and had many manuals detailing television, computer, and radio repair. James also loved music, Westerns and of course, the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, most importantly, James loved God, loved his family and loved people. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and attended the Kingdom Hall on Stevenson Blvd in New Kensington, PA for several years. He enjoyed socializing and helping those in his community and will be sorely missed. James leaves behind several siblings to mourn his loss: Mary A. Thrower, Larry “Pete” B. (Regina) Rowe, Robert “Bobby” M. (Sylvia) Rowe, Virginia “Jenny” A. Rowe (deceased), Louise “LuLu” M. (Joseph) Turner, Toni L. (Charles) Burton. James loved his children and is survived by his six children: Valerie (David) Daniels, Alfred K. “Kenny” Rowe, Shamese V. Rowe, Shelly L. Rowe, Lisa V. Brown, and Jamie R. Rowe. His grandchildren include Brittany Daniels, La’Teasha Cunningham, Kenneth J. Rowe, Brice Hayes, LaShéri Dyke, Aryanna Carter, Kearston Brown, Kelsi Brown, Déja Benford, and Saniya Rowe-Heyward. He also leaves behind six great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends that will mourn his loss. There will be a viewing Monday, April 8, 2024 from 4-8pm as well as Tuesday morning, April 9, 2024 at 10am. The memorial service will be held at 11 am Tuesday April 9, 2024 at the Corridoni Funeral Services, Inc., 1916 Moore Ave, North Apollo, PA. Interment will take place at Greenwood Memorial Park immediately after.

She was born on Tuesday, August 11, 1929, in East Vandergrift, Pa., the daughter of the late Jacob Stefanick and Mary Marhefka Stefanick Pinchak. Margary worked at Penn Grant Hotel in Vandergrift and was a 40-year member of the Apollo #2 Firehall before becoming a proud homemaker. She was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church. Margary was talented at crocheting, making hats, slippers, and crosses. She was skilled at trimming her bushes to look like dinosaurs and other designs and grew marigolds. She liked to bake pizzelles and was a very vibrant woman. Margary is survived by her children; daughter, Karen (Scott) Saul of Apollo, son, Joel E. Markitell of North Apollo, daughter, Maria Roberts of Calimesa, Ca. and son, Brian E. (Jolinda Stambaugh) Markitell of Altoona, her grandchildren; Jenelle Saul Orlowski, Natalie (Chris Minarcin) Saul and Clinton Saul, and a sister; Janice Sicari of North Apollo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Erman S. Markitell in 1979, a son, John J. Markitell in 1983, a grandchild, Rebecca M. Markitell in 2016, her brothers, Albert Stefanick and Cyril Stephens and her sisters; Marie Jasper, Irene Stefanick, Charlotte DeLuca, Mildred Dellenbach and Ethel Hovanik. A Parting Prayer Service will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Corrdioni Funeral Services Inc., 1916 Moore Ave., North Apollo, Pa. with Father John Euker, officiating. Entombment will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell.

He and his wife sold Christian crafts and passed out religious items under the name of Beautifully Mended Ministry .He is survived by his loving wife of 4 years, Michele Bowser Clark, his step-children; Lexie Lutes, Brady Lutes and Gabby Echon all of Vandergrift, his step-grandson; Jackson and his brother; Ken Clark and his wife, Lisa of Coraopolis, Pa. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on cars and teaching his daughter, Rebecca, how to work on cars. Curtis was a very kind and helpful person who will be missed by his neighbors who loved him. He is survived by his children; Nicole Reith of Hyde Park, Jaqueline O’Donnel and her husband, Patrick of Tarentum, Jessica Grum of New Kensington, Rebecca Reith of Apollo and David Reith of Apollo, 9 grandchildren, his mother; Lillian Schreckengost Reith and his brothers; Tracy Reith of Elizabeth Twp. and Jeffrey Reith of East Brady. In addition to his parents, Mack was preceded in death by his loving wife Elizabeth “Betty” (Poydence) Peace, Daughter Marilyn Sue Peace, Grandson Bradley Kowalczyk, brothers John, Robert, Ronald, George, William, Samuel and sister Margaret.
Mack is survived by his children, Louis (Denise) Peace, Mary (Bill) Sidick, Mike Peace, Marlene Peace and fiancé Michael Venglik all of Kiski Twp; Steven (Michelle) Peace of Spring Church, Melissa Peace and fiancé Willard Brooke of Vandergrift and brother Punk (Mary Ann) Peace of North Apollo.
Grandchildren: Rachel, Ashley, Laura, James, Nevada, Liz, Miranda, Gracie, Blaze, Aaron, Brandon, Megan, Waylon and Colton and Great-Grandchildren: Maison, Marlee, Garrett, Chad, Cameron, Sofia, Manny, Sophia, Ellie Rose, Finley, and Scotland.
Mack lived in Kiski Twp all his life. He worked at Eckert Drilling until retirement and drove school van for Byers Taxi Service Inc. He enjoyed country music, playing horse shoes, tinkering, gardening, yard sales, making mashed potatoes, watching wrestling and Joel Osteen, sharing funny stories and giving the best bear hugs! He was a father figure to many and loved them all. We were blessed to call him Daddy/Pappy.
Friends and Family will be received from 4pm-7pm with services immediately following on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Corridoni Funeral Services, Inc.,1916 Moore Ave, North Apollo, Pa. A Private Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Fairview Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Dorothy Pauline Gill Bowman, 86, of Washington Township, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend left this world on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at UPMC East in Monroeville, PA.  She was born Tuesday, October 19, 1937 in Washington Township, PA, the daughter of the late Theodore James and Hazel Bellas Gill.  Dorothy worked at Alcoa before having her two daughters, after taking some time to raise them, she went back to work at Golf Research and Alcoa in the capacity of senior staff information technician.  Dorothy loved spending time with her family, gave the best advice and was always there when someone needed her.  She enjoyed making crafts, baking her famous chocolate chip cookies and fudge, canning vegetables from their garden, enjoyed many years watching her grandson, Jason, play baseball from T-ball through college.  She also loved going to different shops to try “fancy” coffees with her granddaughter, Rory.  Dorothy is survived by her husband, of 65 years, William James “Jim” Bowman; daughters, Sandy Crighton and her husband, Jeff, and Kathie Duso, and her husband, Barry, grandchildren, Jason (Katie) Crighton and Rory Duso; great grandchild Jackson Crighton and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary (Gill) Rupp.  Family will receive friends on Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Corridoni Funeral Services, 1916 Moore Avenue, North Apollo, PA.  Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, February 9, 2024, at 11:00 am in the funeral home, with Pastor Lisa Dormire, officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell, PA.  Family suggests memorial contributions be sent to The Alzheimer’s Association, 2835 East Carson Street, Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA  15203 or Susan G. She is survived by her sister; Suzanne I. Alese-Carraway and her husband, Kevin of Carlisle, her brother; Eugene E. Alese Jr and his wife, Stacy of Verona and her nephew; Dominic Alese (Serving in the Air Force in Dover, DE) and Alec Alese of Verona. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching NASCAR, and going to  camp in Potter County. He enjoyed watching baseball games (Pirates) and was a football fan “during the playoffs”. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his children; Donald LaVerne Kelly Jr and his wife, Ida of Vandergrift, Shad Christopher Kelly and his husband, Paul Myers Sr of Apollo, Thomas Brian Kelly of Apollo and Nicole Lynn Klingensmith and her husband, Daniel of Apollo, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, his brother, Charles Kelly, his sister, Judy Kelly and his step-sisters, Charity Carlson and her husband, Harry of North Carolina, Faith Kelly and her husband, Keith of Ford City and numerous nieces and nephews. Carney and her husband, Kevin of Leechburg and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David A. Obituary Preview: Thomas Arthur Johnson Sr., 75, of North Apollo, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Forbes Regional Hospital, in Monroeville, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on Wednesday, November 24, 1948, in Wilkinsburg, Pa, the son of the late Lloyd Clair and Evelyn Jane Boyd (Drake) Johnson.  He was a member of the Murrysville Alliance Church.   He enjoyed camping, time spent with family and loved his dogs, Tikka and Taffy.  He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and his “jokester” personality.  Thomas graduated from Penn Hills High School in 1966, upon graduation, he went to serve in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970, where he was a CH-34 helicopter mechanic, stationed in Germany.  He achieved the rank of SPEC 5.  Before his retirement, he was employed by Acro Tool and Die in Murrysville as a machine operator.  He is survived by his wife, Sherry Louise Barnett Johnson, who he married on July 26, 1986 in Penn Hills and spent the last 37 years with, a daughter Michelle Marusko and her husband, Donald, of Shrewsberry, a son, Thomas Johnson and his wife, Amanda, of Brownsville, and daughter, Denise Bauer and her husband, John, of Latrobe, 8 grandchildren; Alexandra, Sidney and Gabriel Marusko, of Shrewsberry, Alaina and Arianna Johnson of Brownsville and Tyler, Nicholas and Oliva Bauer of Latrobe, his sister, Suzanne Hartman and her husband, Andrew, of New Braunfels, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Clair.  Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church in Murrysville, 3202 North Hills Road, Murrysville, PA  15668.

He was a United States Navy Veteran. He was a member of the Vandergrift VFW, The American Club, the Sons of Italy, and the Vandergrift Fireman’s Club. He enjoyed listening to rock music, especially AC/DC, loved playing Fantasy Football, the Steelers, Nascar, the Penguins and the Pirates. He most loved his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The love of his life was the mother of his children, Bonnie Clair. He is survived by his children, Autumn Steele and her husband of Vandergrift, Michael Sipe and his wife, Stephine of Oakmont, and Robert Sipe of Vandergrift, 15 grandchildren plus one on the way, 4 great grandchildren and his sister, Deborah Clair (Tim Gamble) of Allegheny Twp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Ryan Lee Sipe and his brothers, Tim and Tom Heffelfinger. At Terry’s request, all funeral arrangements were private. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Twila is survived by her husband, Kenneth Montgomery; her children, Jeffrey (Angela) Montgomery and Stephen (Jacqueline) Montgomery; her grandchildren, Lauren, Cody, and Kaitlin Montgomery; her sister Cherise (Thomas) Cunningham; and her brother Kevin (Beverly) Cramer.
