Kimberly Ann Davis - August 29, 1961 - March 06, 2024

Obituary Preview: Kimberly “ Kim” Brewer Davis of Cornersville went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2024, following a 20 year battle with breast cancer. She died at Williamson County Medical Center, Franklin, TN. She was born August 29, 1961, in Dallas, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Alan and Barbara Brewer of Cornersville.
Kim is survived by her devoted husband of 36 years, Ryan Keith Davis Sr., a daughter Rachel Ann Davis, a son Ryan Keith Davis Jr, and a grand daughter Addison Grace Davis all of Cornersville; one sister Kristine (Leroy) Bizzell of Franklin.
Kim was a dedicated and faithful member of Cornersville First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and actively attended services, activities, Sunday school, and bible studies. She was a caring and loving friend to many with whom she loved sharing meals, playing games, shopping and traveling to W.O.J, and an annual trip to a UT woman's basketball game, or just talking about family activities.
Kim was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and endured treatments for almost the 20 years. She fought this formidable disease with steadfast courage. She served as a compassionate to others who were diagnosed and a devoted supporter of community breast cancer projects.
Visitation with the family is scheduled for Friday, March 8, at Cornersville First Baptist Church from 4:00 – 8:00 PM with funeral services held there on Saturday, March 9, at 12:00 PM with visitation 11:00 – 12:00 before the funeral service. Burial will be at Short Cemetery, Lewisburg, TN.
The family request is in lieu of flowers, a gift be sent to the Cornersville First Baptist Church or to the Marshall County Cancer Foundation, C/O Sandy Henson, 1632 Orange St., Lewisburg, TN.
Everyone that knows Kim knew how much she loved pink, so instead of the usual black attire, lets all wear pink to celebrate her life.

She was born May 31st, 1950, in Ogdensburg, New York, to the late Garnet and Marjorie Fawcett Brown. She retired from the IT field as a computer support specialist. She will be greatly missed as a loving wife, mother, sister, and nana.
She is survived by her husband, Don Cross of Cornersville, daughter, Jodi Johnson, of Columbus, OH, two sisters, Judith Reese of Labelle, FL and Frances Summerall of North Fort Myers, FL and three brothers, Carl Brown of North Fort Myers, FL, Garnett Brown Jr. of Vancouver, Washington, and Paul Brown of Ogdensburg, NY, and two granddaughters, Amaya and Alyssa.
Following cremation, there will be no public arrangements at this time.

He was born August 11th, 1944 in Marshall County, to the late Robert M. Sr. and Wilma Glenn Wolaver. He was a retired warrant officer with the Tennessee National Guard and was a member of the Church Street Church of Christ. He served his country in the Army in Vietnam and Desert Storm. In addition to his love of his country, he enjoyed serving on the Marshall County Commission and his church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Bobby Wolaver in 2020.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sandra Haislip Wolaver, one daughter, Jan (Craig) Brock of Tullahoma, one son, Jason (Heidi) Wolaver of Cornersville, four grandchildren, Sam and Emily Brock, and Taylor (Zach) Adams and Tyler Wolaver, one great grandson, Oakley Adams, one brother, Tommy (Judy) Wolaver of Mt. Pleasant, and a sister in law, Louise Wolaver.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 27th, 2023, at 1:00 pm from the Chapel of Cornersville Funeral Home 310 North Main St. Cornersville, TN 37047 with burial to follow in Short Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held at Chapel of Cornersville Funeral Home 310 North Main St. Cornersville, TN 37047 on Tuesday, December 26th, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and will continue on Wednesday, December 27th, 2023 until the funeral hour.

Obituary Preview: Robert George “Bob” Reid, age 85, died in his home in Cornersville, Tennessee, on December 24, 2023.
He was born on June 12, 1938, in Wheeling, West Virginia, to the late Robert W. and Valta Reid. He served in the medical company of 101st Airborne Division in the United States Army. He and his family moved to Germantown to train Tennessee Walking Horses. The move to Lewisburg began his intensive career of “starting 2-year-olds,” for which the horse industry knows him. He initiated the careers of champions including Delight’s Anne, The Pennsylvanian, Pride’s Super Sonic, and Gen’s Burning Rage. Bob pledged his life to Christ with his membership in Farmington Church of Christ and later in Cornersville Church of Christ and reflected his faith through his authentic nature, his incredible work ethic, and his love for Christ.
Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Glenda Faye Poarch Reid; his daughter, Dr. Carol Reid of Lewisburg; his 3 grandchildren: Dr. Mark (Courtney) Mitchell of Bartlett; Sara (Alexander) Rust of Nolensville; and Alexander Cohoon of Murfreesboro; 2 great-grandchildren: Alexander Rust, II; and Emily Rust; a sister, Phyllis (Dr. Robert) Perkins of Lillington, North Carolina; two nephews: Dr. Steve (Kelley) Perkins of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Scott (Jennifer) Perkins of Four Oaks, North Carolina, and one niece, Sheri (Eric) Rudisill, of Matthews, North Carolina.
Graveside service will be held at Beechwood Cemetery on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 12:00 noon.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Juwana G. Newcomb Agent; two sons, Justin Wayne Agent and Jake Alan Agent; one grandson, Cody Alan Agent, all of Cornersville; one sister, Peggy Madison of Lewisburg; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Donations may be made to the American Lung Association or Vanderbilt Lung and Asthma Institute in his memory.

Obituary Preview: Joie Ingram Burgess "Memaw", age 95, of Cornersville, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Marshall Medical Center.
She was born to Jim and Sue Wilburn Ingram on October 11, 1928, in Giles County and lived in Cornersville most of her life. She attended Martin College and Middle TN State University and was an educator in the school system for thirty plus years. She was a former member of the Marshall County Retired Teachers Association and of Delta Kappa Gamma. Mrs. Burgess also was a member of the Church Street Church of Christ where she attended until she was physically unable. Following the scriptures was a very important part of her life and spent hours studying, especially after she was unable to attend services.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Newton Burgess; daughter, Sharon Dockery; infant son, James Leslie Burgess; brother, Murray Ingram; son-in-law, Robert Callaham.
She is survived by one son, Gary (Janice) Burgess of Lynnville; two daughters, Claudia (Stanley) Davis of Ardmore, Alabama and Rhonda Woodward of Pulaski; sister, Faye Mitchell Miles; sister-in-law, Bettye Ruth Ingram; two sons in law, R.E. Woodward III and Roger Dockery; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Cornersville Funeral Home from 1:00-3:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm with burial to follow at New Hope Ostella Cemetery.

He was born February 7, 1945, in Fayetteville, Tennessee, to the late Sam and Elsie Seagroves Holley. He was a Contractor before his retirement and loved to fish and hunt in his spare time.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clifford and Ed Holley; two sisters, Della Mae Stone and Louise Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy E. Patterson Holley; stepsons, Thomas (Melissa Bower) Henson of Cornersville, and Donald (Brandy) Aman of Lewisburg; step-daughters, Anita Thompson, Pulaski, and Melissa Davis of Cornersville; brother, J. W. (Chris) Holley, Texas; special grandsons, Dawson Orr, Park City, and Jackson Davis, Cornersville, as well as several other grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held in the spring of 2024 at his favorite fishing hole.

Obituary Preview: James Samuel "Jimmy" Tarpley, age 85, of Cornersville, Tennessee, died Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Maury Regional Hospital.
He was born August 13, 1938, in Giles County, to the late Lawton Tarpley and Ina Phillips Tarpley. Jimmy was raised in Cornersville where he lived until he went to college. He served his country in the United States Army. He worked for the Baptist Sunday School Board and later retired from working as a delivery driver for several milk and food delivery companies. He was a member of the Cornersville First Baptist Church.
From his early childhood, Jimmy was an avid sports fan. It didn't matter whether football, basketball, or baseball (and a few others thrown in), Jimmy was watching on TV or listening to the radio. Nor did it matter about high school, college, or pro. Jimmy was not a passive fan either. He always took notes and kept stats for the games.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen Owen Tarpley; one brother, Philip Tarpley of Manchester; cousins, John (Margaret) Tarpley of Nashville, Judy Murphy of Watertown, Lynn (Bobby) Beadle of Watertown, and Joe (Beverly) Tarpley of Madison, MS.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 12:00 pm from the Chapel of Cornersville Funeral Home, 310 North Main St., Cornersville, TN, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery, (next to Fall Creek Baptist Church) 11535 Cainsville Road, Norene, Tennessee (Wilson County).

Obituary Preview: Dorothy Richardson Lee, age 92, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Creekside at Three Rivers in Murfreesboro. She was born December 26, 1930, in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, but her family moved to Cornersville when she was seven months old.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Lee and Sarah Ellen Richardson; her husband Jack L. Lee; four sisters, Mabel Rich, Mayme Cavnar, Helen Buchholz, and Mary Chapman; two brothers, Carl Richardson and Robert W. Richardson.
She is survived by one daughter, Jana (Ken) Stevenson of Murfreesboro, TN; two granddaughters, Lauren (Joey) Brewer and Megan Stevenson; three great grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Lee was a graduate of Cornersville High School and Middle Tennessee State College (now University). She was a teacher in Marshall County for over 40 years. She was a retired member of the Marshall County Teacher's Association and Volunteer Association of Marshall Medical Center for 22 years.
She was a member of Cornersville First Baptist Church where she taught a women's Bible class for several years and worked in many Vacation Bible Schools.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, October 16, 2023, at 1:00 pm from the Chapel of Cornersville Funeral Home with Bro. Arthur Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Beechwood Cemetery in Cornersville, TN.

Richard Curtis Culbertson - November 18, 1938 - September 02, 2023

Obituary Preview: Richard Curtis Culbertson, Sr., age 84, a resident of NHC-Oakwood, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Marshall Medical Center in Lewisburg, Tennessee.
He was a native of Nicklesville, Virginia, making his family home in Lewisburg, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Mayhue Edwin Hicks (stepfather) and Allie Mae Culbertson Hicks. He began his working career early in life at Phelps Dodge and continued on as a dairy farmer in the Spring Place community for many years prior to his security career change. He retired from the Security Department of Faber Castell (Newell) and ICP Security in Lewisburg. In his spare time, he stayed busy with his hobby of collecting Christmas ornaments, tinkering with computers, woodworking and gardening.
He was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ and currently a member of Sunday services at NHC-Oakwood. He also enjoyed watching several televised church programs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives, Linda Lee Carman Culbertson Butler in 1972 and Katherine Elaine Luttrell Thomason Culbertson in 2020; one son, Douglas Culbertson and two stepsons, Charles (Chucky) Thomason and Randy Carman; four sisters, Ivial Culbertson, Beluaha Culbertson, Linda Hicks McCandless and most recently, Brenda Hicks Dawson; one stepbrother, Jimmy Ray Culbertson.
He is survived by two daughters, Tammy (Jerry) Harris of Lewisburg and Shelia (John) Blalock-Bryant of Rogersville, Alabama; five sons, David (Libby) Culbertson, Dennis (Lori Brown) Culbertson, Ken (Lesha) Carman, James (Mhel) Thomason and Richard (Kim) Culbertson, Jr. all of Lewisburg; nineteen grandchildren and thirty-eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Marion (Doris) Hicks and Ronald Hicks both of Lewisburg; three sisters, Jean (Steve) Sind of South Carolina, Sue (Bob) Jackson of Washington and Betty Hicks Price of Dickson, TN; several foster children and many others that loved and cherished him.

He was an avid outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Fleury Ownby of Cornersville; two daughters, Christie (Bryan) Kelley, Huntsville, AL, and Dawn (Juan) Arias, Smyrna; one son, James Helmholtz, Cornersville; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Timmy Ownby and Randy Ownby both of Cornersville; two sisters, Sandra (Wayne) Stokes, Cornersville and Tammy King, Pigeon Forge; several nieces and nephews.

Prior to retirement, she was a salesperson and bookkeeper for the National Store, Sullivan's, and Dr. J. C. Leonard. She was a member of Cornersville United Methodist Church. Melvis knew everyone in Cornersville and was always the person to go to for news about the community. She dearly loved her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Burrow; sisters, Betty Tilford and Brownie Capps; niece, Barbara "Bobby" Roberts and nephew, Sammie Tilford.
She is survived by her nephews, Freddie (Barbara) Capps of Cornersville and Ernie Tilford of Hendersonville; nieces, Betty Jane Evans of New York, Mary Ann Daily and Teresa Keown of Louisville, KY.

He was a native of Plymouth, Indiana, the son of Larry VanDusen and Kimberly Stiles VanDusen of Cornersville. He was employed as a window glazer by Rambo Glass and a member of Shelbyville United Pentecostal Church.
Paul loved playing his guitar and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle in his spare time. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was always a jokester and loved making people laugh. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved and knew him.
He is survived by his parents, Larry and Kimberly VanDusen; wife, Larissa Nunes VanDusen; one daughter, Page Anna VanDusen all of Cornersville; maternal grandparents, Larry and Jane Stiles of Cornersville; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was a faithful member of Lewisburg First Assembly of God. She enjoyed crafting, especially making jewelry, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Kathy Waddell.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Harley "Skip" Stroud; one daughter, Cindy Lee of Cornersville; three stepsons, Randall Stroud, Bradley Stroud, and Steven Stroud, all of Michigan; seventeen grandchildren, Monica Lee, and Whitney Lee, both of Cornersville; three brothers, Dale Legare, of Farmington, Minn., Richard Legare, Houston, TX, and Harlan Legare, Eagle River, Alaska.
Memorial services will be conducted on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 2:00 pm at First Assembly Church.

Obituary Preview: Cornell Moore King, age 91, of Cornersville, TN, passed away on December 31, 2022, at his home. He was born January 19, 1931, to Guy Reeves King and Willie Emma Moore King.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Donald Reeves King and his wife Joanne and his sister, Angie Merrill Vanhooser and her husband RW.
Cornell was the cornerstone of his family. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Charlotte Crunk King; daughters, Vylatte King Gooch and husband Terry of Lewisburg and Susanne King Wilson and husband Wendell of Crossville; sons, James Mickey King and wife Kathy and Richard Blake King and wife Robin both of Cornersville; Leslie Scott King and wife Annette of Huntland, TN. Additionally, Cornell is survived by 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Much of Cornell’s life was consumed with agriculture. In his early years, he worked on a multi-generational dairy farm where he continued the tradition with his children. In his nature, he expanded the farm with hogs, tobacco, ponies, and beef cattle. He worked with expanding the economy of Cornersville with his family and opened King’s Feed Supply.
The town of Cornersville meant so much to Cornell; he worked with other families to keep the high school located in the town. To ensure the school’s success, he was very active in athletics through himself, his children, grandchildren and now, great grandchildren. He was also active with the Cornersville Lions Club earning Lion of the Decade, helping with the construction of the show ring, and served as ring master for many years. Cornell served as a member of the school board for 15 years. With his wife Charlotte, he drove the school bus for many years on an active route and to various sporting events.
As an avid member of the Farm Bureau, the American Angus Association and various other agricultural memberships, Cornell earned various awards, including Farmer of the Year and received various grants. Farming as a way of life was so important to Cornell as he passed the tradition to his family and grandchildren. In 2022, Cornell King was awarded the high designation of owning a century farm. So many of his children and grandchildren own active farms now, including the great grandchildren showing cattle today.
In addition to farming and family, faith was truly a way of life for Cornell. He was an active member of the Cornersville United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4, from 3:00-7:00 pm at Cornersville Funeral Home.
A celebration of life service will be held at Cornersville United Methodist Church at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 5 with burial to follow in New Hope Ostella Cemetery. Visitation with the family will precede the service starting at 10:00 am until the funeral hour.
