Obituary Preview: Gary Robert Thur, 76, of Farmington, NM passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 in Farmington, NM. He was born on February 26, 1945 in Clark County, WI to Ernest and Freda Thur. He was the youngest son of four. He began his training for the ministry at 16 and received his bachelor’s degree from Concordia College, Ft. Wayne, Indiana in 1967. He went on to St. Louis Seminary and received his Masters of Divinity in 1971. He was ordained on June 13, 1971 with two older brothers (Melvin Thur and Richard Thur) officiating. Gary served churches from Minnesota (Triple Parish in Frazee, MN) a parish in Clear Lake, MN he planted a church Crown of Life in Rochester, MI, served in Lamar, CO and Zion Lutheran Church in Farmington, NM until retirement in 2014. Gary is preceded in death by, parents, Ernest and Freda Thur and brother, Melvin Thur. Gary is survived by wife, Dianna Thur (m. May 31, 1969); sons, Kelly (Michelle) Thur, Barrett (Bonnie) Thur; daughter, Heidi Thur; brothers, David (Judy) Thur, Richard (Jane) Thur; sister in law, Mary Lou; grandchildren, Collyn Thur, Bryanna Thur and Brady Thur. A Memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church, 7455 Foothills Dr., Farmington, NM 87402 with Reverend Gary Bickner  officiating. Darrell Leon Reimers - July 30, 1934 - October 11, 2020

Obituary Preview: Darrell Leon Reimers was born on July 30, 1934 in rural Montague County, Texas.  Hugh and Onil (Sally) soon moved their sons, Don and Darrell, to Central New Mexico, where they farmed dryland pinto beans as sharecroppers.  They lived and worked on several farms in the Estancia and Moriarty Bean Valley.  As a family they labored through the end of the Great Depression and through World War II.  Seeking a better life, in 1949 they moved to Pagosa Springs, CO.  The family moved to Durango in 1950, with Darrell attending Durango High School.  He was employed by the Kruger family Purina Feed Store and received a 10 cent per hour raise when he married Naomi Drinen.
Darrell and Naomi moved to Farmington, NM in 1953.  Danny, Diane, Dennis, and Denise were added to the family.  Darrell was employed by El Paso Natural Gas as a welder’s helper and truck driver.  In 1957 they moved to remote Gomez Camp in Rio Arriba County, during which time Jimmy was born.  Darla completed the family of eight after they moved in 1960 to Gobernador Camp.  They moved to Bloomfield in 1965 where the children completed high school.  In 1995 they purchased a small farm just off the Animas River in Flora Vista, NM.
Darrell and Naomi’s family members are Danny Reimers and his wife Gail of Aztec, Diane Lamb and her husband Steve of Aztec, Dennis Reimers and his wife Teresa of Bayfield, Denise Porter and her husband John of Aztec, Jim Reimers of Fort Worth, Darla Johnson and husband Jim of Flora Vista.
Their grandchildren are Nathan Reimers and wife Holly, Marissa Reimers, Candace Williams and husband Michael, Kyle Lamb and wife Becky, Joseph Reimers, Bradley Reimers, Kathy Porter, Michelle Porter and Darrell Reimers.
Darrell and Naomi have 8 great grandchildren. Ethan, Lauren and husband Aydran, Kyler, Aiden, Austin, Avaree, Emmie and Addie.
For the majority of Darrell’s career, he either drove or supervised the transportation of “drip gasoline condensate”.  After 31 years with El Paso, he drove for Farnsworth Construction, Maralex Resources and Overright Trucking.
Darrell enjoyed the flea market where he collected most everything, weed pulling, splitting kindling, raising goats and being with family.
On October 11th, one day after his 68th wedding anniversary Darrell departed this life to his reward in Heaven. Visitation will be Oct 14, 2020 at 4pm at Cope Memorial Chapel of Farmington 404 W Arrington
Funeral services will be Oct 15 at 10am Calvary Southern Baptist Church 103 Northeights Bloomfield, NM. His life will be celebrated in song by an ensemble: Mona Jackson, Joe Bishop, Connie Bishop, Darla Miller, Floyd Foutz, Elizbeth Hicks, Claribell Eddy, and Vicki Edwards. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens in Farmington. Darrell will be laid to rest in Terrace Gardens Lot 57 Space 3

Matthew Thomas Roe - December 28, 1974 - September 02, 2020

Obituary Preview: Matthew Thomas Roe, age 45, of Farmington, New Mexico passed away in the early morning hours of September 2, 2020 in Albuquerque NM.  Matt was born on December 28, 1974 in Farmington to Allen and Carmelita Roe.  He was a graduate of Farmington High School and enlisted in the Navy in 1995 serving onboard the Destroyer USS Cushing 985 until 1999.  Matt was proud of his military service and often said it was some of the best times of his life.
Matt is survived by his two sons Nathaniel & Bradley Roe of Farmington, father Allen Roe & step-mother Nancy Roe of Bloomfield NM, sister Mechel Watts (Aaron) of South Heart ND, step-siblings Melissa Pavey (Michael) of Lubbock TX, and Nathan Evans  (Laura) of Beaumont TX; along with numerous other family and friends.
Matt is preceded in death by his mother, Carmelita Roe and grandparents, John & Ronnie Roe and Moises & Martha Gutierrez.
Matt was a welder by trade and a gifted metal-working craftsman who also loved to fish and hunt. He was always making light of any situation, always joking about everything – this was part of his great personality.  Matt was known not to mince words, and his children also referred to him as being “tough as nails.”  He made many friends throughout his life and was well loved and will be greatly missed by all.
Cremation has taken place and Matt will be laid to rest with his Mother.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Obituary Preview: (Eleanor) Rochelle (Burg) Booth passed peacefully at home in Aztec, NM on August 11, 2020. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Charles Henry Burg and Rose Catola Burg.
Rochelle graduated Farmington High School in 1966.  She raised two children as a single mother when it wasn’t the norm.  She worked as a bookkeeper for many years for Coleman Oil & Gas/SunCo Trucking and for Wolfe-Com.  She served as the past president for the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 2182.
She was preceded by her parents, Charles Burg (1977) and Rose Burg (2008); brother, George Toward; and sister, Barbara Burg. She is survived by her son, Mike (Eve Lynn) Clawson; her daughter Tammie (David) Songer; brother, Charles (Judy) Burg; sisters, Carole (Rex dc) Lott, Betty (Lonnie) Saiz, and sister in law Mary Toward; grandchildren, Hannah Clawson, Michaela Clawson, and Elijah Dolgoff; Nieces and nephews who were close to “Aunt Roach”. They loved her dearly and she loved them. He is survived by sister Florene Ensor of Aztec,  his four daughters and their spouses, Ella Kelly & Mark of Farmington,  Joyce Lewis & Terry of Aztec, Teresa Smith & Dale of Quesnel,  B.C., and Stephanie Stevenson of Aztec,  five grandchildren and their spouse, Erin Pruett & Jason of Greeley, CO, Eric Kelly of Newport News, Virginia, Megan Smith of Quesnel, B.C., Morgan Stevenson of Aztec, and Anna Lewis of Aztec, and numerous number of nieces and nephews.
Jack retired from El Paso Natural Gas after 25 years of service, was a Deacon at Bethel Baptist Church, Aztec and could also be found at any of his grandkid’s activities and events. Jack and Barbara loved to travel and making yearly trips to Canada was high on their priority list.
Graveside services will be held Friday, July 24, 2020 at Aztec Cemetery at 10:00 am.

Obituary Preview: Judy Gayle Schaffer, 77, of Bloomfield went to be with our Lord and Savior on June 5, 2020.  Judy was born February 12, 1943 in Ponca City, Oklahoma.  Judy was a loving and caring mom, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Judy made Farmington, New Mexico her home in the late 1970’s.  She had a passion for Avon and received many awards for her excellence in sales.  Judy also won a cruise in the late 90’s for her outstanding contribution to Avon. Judy also enjoyed playing darts and going to dart competitions with her husband Wayne, Son, Darrin, and many friends. Judy also gave a lot of her time to the plumbing trade and was very knowledgeable being that her father, the late Raymond Steers, was a plumber.  Judy’s three sons Darrin, Shannon and Chris, along with her son in law, Mark Nielson, are also all in the Plumbing trade.  Judy was very proud of her children including her daughter Brenda Nielson who graduated as a Registered Nurse in 2010.
Including the things Judy was passionate about, her family was her greatest passion.  Judy was very proud to be a wife, mother, grandmother and a recent great-grand-mother.  She would spend hours talking us through the hard times and rooting us on in our accomplishments. She always made us feel special and said we could do anything we set our minds to.  Judy was madly in love with her husband Wayne and she was very proud to be his wife.
Judy loved people in general and was always there to help others with a smile that lit up a room.  She was our hero, our rock, and most of all a beautiful soul that cared deeply for everyone she met.  Judy’s kind and loving spirit will be remembered and cherished by everyone who knew her and she will be greatly missed. “She is in heaven now dancing with the angels and walking on streets of gold, visiting with Jesus and walking with God!!!”    -Darrin Compton “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” Ephesians 4:2
Judy was proceeded in death by her Father, Raymond Steers and Mother, Edna Steers.  Judy is survived by her husband of 21 years Wayne W. Schaffer of Bloomfield NM. Her daughter Brenda (Mark) Nielson of Gresham, Oregon.  Three sons, Darrin (Brenda) Compton, Shannon (Natalie) Compton and Chris Compton, all of Farmington, New Mexico.  Eight grandchildren, Coleen Compton, Dillion Compton, Mariah Compton, and Gage Compton, all of Farmington.  Sirena (Maasi) Molii, Marcus Nielson, and Joshua (Nichole) Nielson, all of Gresham, Oregon. Jason Compton of California, Matthew Compton of Oklahoma, and Cameron Compton of Farmington.  One great grand-child Osia Heitonga Lahi Moli Jr of Gresham, Oregon and Brother, Larry Steers of Tucson, Arizona.
A celebration of Life will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery.  Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, masks must be worn and social distancing is required.

He worked construction and pipeline for the majority of his life for various companies throughout the area. Leroy's hobbies were fishing, golf, shooting, and spending time with family and friends. Leroy touched a lot of people's lives; everyone who knew him, loved him. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfredo Martinez and Ursulita Gomez; his brothers, Orlando, Herman, Johnny, and Ronaldo Martinez; his sister, Mary Jane. He is survived by his sons, Manuel (Janet) and Michael Martinez; his brothers Leonard (Diane) and Herman Martinez; his sisters, Mary Garcia, Joseline (Anthony) Barry, Lina (Octovio) Mingura; grandchildren, James (Shaycie), Darius (Karlie), and great grandchildren, Kaezleigh and Layla.
There will be a wake on May 30, 2020 at 4pm through May 31, 2020 at 12pm. There is a rosary scheduled for 7pm on May 30, 2020. Wake and Rosary will occur at #41 Rd 5591, Farmington, NM. A public viewing is also scheduled for June 1, 2020 from 12-2pm at Cope Memorial Chapel of Farmington, 404 W Arrington.

She was preceded in death by Her Father David Estevan, Brothers Richard & David Estevan Jr, Baby Kenny, Buster Brown & The Rock A small graveside burial will take place for the family at Greenlawn Cemetery in Farmington NM. A Memorial Gathering of Family and friends will be scheduled at a future date in Farmington NM. We send our condolence and prayers to all the families who have loved ones in nursing homes or who have family members in hospitals. This has been very heart breaking for us not able to be with her or see her when she passed, we share your grief and frustrations. Thank you to all the care givers, doctors and nurses who cared for Theresa, we truly appreciate the care and compassion you gave her.

She was born September 24th, 1947 in Gallup NM to Robert and Gwendolyn French and was the eldest of 5 children. She was a graduate of Kirtland Central High School in 1965. After graduating High School, she spent about a year with the FBI in Washington DC. On August 24th, 1968, she married Dick Dickens. They raised one daughter, Kerri, and two sons, Zane and Nathan, and she was very involved with her two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Garrett Dickens. She loved spending time with her family and was beloved by all including extended family and friends. She had a very infectious laugh and everyone that knew her has a funny story to tell (or two). She enjoyed reading books and crocheting - every 1st born child born into our family would receive a crocheted blanket as a gift from her. She is preceded in death by her brother Kim, Mother Gwendolyn, Daughter Kerri, Father Robert, and Sister-in-law Atsuko. She is survived by her husband of 52 years Dick Dickens; two sons, Zane and Nathan Dickens; daughter-in-law Deeanna Dickens; two adored grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Garrett Dickens; three brothers, Mike, Kevin, and Jon French; her Aunt Marjorie Cummins; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. A memorial will be organized at a later date, we appreciate all of the condolences and well wishes that we have received.
