Margaret Lewis - November 28, 1933 - June 28, 2022

Departed: 06/28/2022 (Kissimmee)
Obituary Preview: Margaret Lewis, 88 of Kissimmee, Florida, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022. Spent most of her life as a greeter and switchboard operator at Christian colleges. She loved the role of welcoming people to a college campus and helping people feel warm and comfortable. Her smile was even felt when she answered the phones as she directed people to the proper person. As a Switchboard operator she was always aware of the extension numbers and she remembered phone numbers for years. Margaret served at Philadelphia Bible College ( now called Cairn University) while a student there, and following graduation she was recruited to come to Nyack (Missionary) College in New York where she served as receptionist for the college until her retirement!! She was honored there as a long-time special part of the staff. She loved greeting people and knew many people through the years. Agnes Seaman became a wonderful friend who also served at Nyack, so when Margaret took an early retirement they both women decided to move to Good Samaritan Village in Kissimmee, FL. Margaret and her good friend Agnes Seaman kept serving and they enjoyed working with the sound and camera operations at the Good Samaritan Church. They also enjoyed their annual camping/travel trips each summer.Margaret was born in Philadelphia, Pa on November 28, 1933 and she faced many health challenges with boldness and joy. She was born to Ed and Ruth Lewis and God used the handicap of her not being able to walk normally as a means of leading her parents to learn more of God. They decided to take their little girl to a near-by church in Philadelphia. It was there that her dad became a Christ-follower. His life was transformed. He got serious about his faith. He went back to finish high school and enrolled as a student at Philadelphia Bible College. He then decided to become a pastor and got graduate training at Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, IN where he moved with his wife and two daughters. Margaret lived a simple life and loved to sing and loved to serve others. After losing her roommate several years ago Margaret lived in various assisted living or health care facilities around Orlando and Margaret eventually passed away on June 28, 2022.She is preceeded in death by her younger sister Nancy Zellner from Winona Lake, Indiana where she and her husband Warren had lived for many years. Her brother Ed Lewis is the only living sibling. He is single and living in Hawaii and serving many people in Oahu who are homeless and under-resourced. While Margaret wanted no memorial service she enjoyed hearing from her brother and learning about her niece Esther Eickhoff ( Indiana) and a nephew Brian Zellner ( New Jersey). Her remains are honored through the memory gardens at the ossuary by the prayer chapel at Good Samaritan Village in Kissimmee, FL. She knows that she will see many of her friends in Heaven someday.
