Kim was born on September 18, 1956, in Liberty, to Myrtle Daubek-Smith and the late Robert J. Smith. She was 63.
Kim worked as a Receptionist/Dental Assistant for Dr. Olsen of Liberty, NY for many years. In her free time, Kim enjoyed being creative by quilting, being out in her garden, and picking up a camera. She loved nature, bird watching, being by the water, and spending time by the ocean. You could sometimes find her relaxing, watching a sci-fi movie, or out soaking up the sun. Above all else, her family was most important to her and her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Kim was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Kim is survived by her devoted husband, Bob Burgio, whom she married on December 2, 1978; her children Jaime Burgio-D'Agata, husband Steven; and Michael Burgio, wife Rebecca; her grandchildren Dia and Amelia D'Agata and Olivia and Logan Burgio; her brother Robert Smith; her sisters Connie VanValkenburg, Kay Smith, and Shirley Kester; several beloved nieces and nephews; as well as her best friend, Barbara Hamlin.

Obituary Preview: Elinor Schaefer, late of Rock Hill, formerly of New Windsor, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 88. She was the daughter of the late John Singelsether and Sally Svendsen Singelsether, born on April 14, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York. Elinor was an employee of the New York Telephone Company, now known as Verizon, and worked as a clerk in the Central Office for most of her 32 years; prior to that she was a telephone operator. When her job required a transfer from Monticello to Newburgh in the mid1980's, Elinor began attending the Gardnertown United Methodist Church and later became the church secretary for 15 years following her retirement from Verizon. Elinor was a member of the New York Telephone Pioneers and the Association of Bell Tel Retirees. She strongly supported the "Wounded Warrior Project."
Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters Karen Linen (husband: John), and Lori Hastings (husband: Glenn); grand-daughter Allison Linen; nieces Kathleen Ronstrom and Patricia Seward; and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews (Rhiannon, Mary, Jeffrey and Kyle). She is also survived by her former sisters-in-law, Marlene Dexter and Mary Anne North, and former brother-in-law, Dr. Anthony Annunziata. She was predeceased by her son Gary (stillborn), niece Wendy Annunziata, and former husband and father of her children, Walter Schaefer, with whom she enjoyed an enduring friendship despite their divorce.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Catskill Regional Medical Center, and in particular, the employees of the Skilled Nursing Unit for the compassionate and professional care rendered to Elinor as one of its long-term residents.

She was the daughter of the late Emmit and Edith Scott Houghtaling, born on November 6, 1942 in Liberty, NY.
Betty was a nurse's aid for many years at Walnut Mountain Nursing Home. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and crocheting. She loved animals but she espically loved spending time with her family. She always made her home a warm and welcoming place for all to come and visit. She will be deeply missed by everyone that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children Charles Emmitt Crespo and his wife Rene, Anthony Crespo and his wife Diane, Roy Crespo, and Natalio Crespo Jr., her grandchildren Roger, Rosalie, Charles Jr., Joseph, Brandy, Brooke, Osmin, Catherine, Moggy, Maya and Kianna, seven great grandchildren, her siblings Raymond Houghtaling, Vernon "Butch" Houghtaling, and Irene Hardy and a host of friends.
She was predeceased by her devoted husband Natalio "Charlie" Crespo.

Frank was born October 2, 1957, in the Bronx, NY to Rocky and Kathleen (McLaughlin) Toscano.
Frank was truly one of a kind. He was known for his infectious smile and his ability to catch you off guard with a remark that would make you laugh like you have never before. To know him was to love him, and he reminded those he knew to appreciate the simplest things in life. He had a great love for music and was a drummer in his younger years. He loved a good cup of "cawfee" and a five spot. He looked up to his little big brother, Dennis, as if he were his father. He held a special place in his heart for his Uncle Louie and dear friend and roommate, Melvin.
Frank was preceded in death by his father, Rocky, and his mother, Kathy, his brother Robert McLaughlin Toscano and sister Christine Rubio.
He is survived by his siblings; Dennis Toscano of Liberty, Patricia Inman (David) of Swan Lake, Rocky Toscano (Ronnie) of Asheville, Rose Toscano (Scott) of Liberty, Jean Toscano (Joe) of Charlotte, Regina Marvel (Shaun) of Naples, Jolene Toscano of Liberty, Ronda Ottino (Scott) of Neversink, and Robert Toscano (Jessica) of White Sulpher, many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins.

She was the daughter of the late Arthur O`Brien Sr. and Eva Harrison, born on July 23, 1950 in Brooklyn, NY.
For some time she worked on Wall Street and for Arthur Murry in NYC. She also was a bartender at Friends and the Light House. Pat enjoyed singing, dancing, going to museums, traveling and site seeing. She loved animals and had a special place in her heart for her dog Hammer and her cat PC. In her free time she liked to watch Law and Order, Golden Girls and a verity of talk shows like the View. She will be missed most for her wonder sense of humor and always having a good time.
She is survived by her cousin, who was like her sister, Carol Read, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Bonnaci Sr. and her brother Arthur O`Brien Jr.

Mary worked as a Resident Manager after studying at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. She enjoyed spending her time outdoors, especially in her garden among the flowers she loved. She particularly loved vacationing with her family. But who she adored most were her grandchildren, and loved the role of Mimi. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be deeply missed. She is survived by her children: Derek (Karin) Colmenares, Lilia (Rick) Kuric, Lara (Mitchell, Jr.) Ayres and Lindsay Hanretta; her grandchildren: Katrina, Calvin, Emily, Ethan, Brayden, Delilah, Brianna and Travis, Jr. "TJ"; her siblings: Robert, Judith, Andrew and Thomas Slaver; her canine companion Tippy; as well as her best friend Wendy!

He was the son of Thomas Hyland and the late Lorraine Morton, born on February 19, 1990, in Long Island New York.
Shane was a true outdoorsman; he loved nature and everything it had to offer. He would often be outside fishing, skate/snowboarding, taking nature walks or just taking in the sites. When he wasn't outside you could find him in the kitchen cooking a delicious meal for his family and friends. He was a loving person that would give the shirt off his back. He was always ready for a good time and could put a smile on anyone's face. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his father Thomas Hyland, his siblings Velvet Hyland-Reda, Tara VonBernewitz (Randy) Craig Hyland (Nancy), and Tara Hyland, his nieces Holly, Samantha, Fallon, Giselle, and Lilly and a host of friends. He was predeceased by his sister Regina Morton.

He was previously employed as a Medicaid Social Worker at the Sullivan County Dept. of Social Services for 15 years, until he was forced to retire early due to his illness.
Troy was a loving son, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He brought peace and joy to the lives of all who knew him. He also has a love for music and enjoyed rapping with his group of life time friends, under the name T-Flawless. An avid fan of basketball, and die-hard for his beloved team “The Lakers” along with his son.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his mother, Ernestine Gandy- Hackett, of Monticello, NY; son, Amari Dannell Gandy, of Monticello, NY; brothers Rodney (Charlotte) Holman of Monticello, NY, and Clarence Lamont Gandy, of Liberty, NY; sisters Doreen Gandy-Turner (Shannon), Deborah Gandy (Rufus), both of Monticello, NY, Beverly Gandy (Alfred), of Stamford, CT, Karin Gandy (Charles), Monticello, NY, and Tiffany M. Williams, of Syracuse, NY; three step-brothers and three step-sisters; uncles, Peter Holman (Ruby) and Harold Simmons (Brownie); Aunt Mattie Dawson and uncle Bishop Leon Walker; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Troy was pre-deceased by his maternal grandparents Clarence Frye and Evie Oniel-Gandy, his paternal grandparents David and Rebecca Holman and his Aunt Beulah Davis.

Pedro loved spending time fishing and being around wilderness. He enjoyed dancing, making people smile and laugh, and telling many old stories to everyone. Pedro was known to many as a "Ladies' man". Though there were quite a few things he loved to do, nothing came close to love he had for his family. Of all his favorite activities his family time was what he treasured most.
He survived by his daughter Felicita and her husband Jerry Almodoval; grandchildren named Jerry Brandin Almodoval, Brittany Ann Almodoval, and Julia Elaine Almodoval; also including many loved Family and friends.

Obituary Preview: John J. Driscoll III, born April 18, 1957, of Kauneonga Lake, NY, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at his home.
Born at Camp Lajeune, Jacksonville, North Carolina to the late John J. Driscoll, Jr. and Nancy Paglino Driscoll. John was employed as a Corrections Officer in the Woodbourne and Sullivan Correctional Facilities and retired from the Otisville Correctional Facility. During his career in corrections, he provided orientation for new recruits, and served as Fire and Safety Officer and Weapons Training Officer. John was the proud owner of Northfork Lawn and Landscape for twenty-two years, and served his community as an active member of the Kauneonga Lake Fire Department for many years and later as an honorary member. He served as a Town of Bethel Councilman for twelve years. As an avid NASCAR fan, John was involved in stock car racing for many years, and was also a loyal Jets and Mets fan. He loved keeping in shape with biking and walks with Linda. He enjoyed music, especially Elvis.
John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and was an incredibly loyal, generous, and caring person. His wife, children, and grandchildren were the light of his life. He enjoyed spending time with them at football games, stock car races, concerts, and sharing time with them in Disney World. He loved having them in his home and showing them where he grew up. He was proud to live on the Driscoll family property and share this legacy with his grandchildren.
John is survived by the love of his life, his wife of eighteen years, Linda Piatt Driscoll, and his mother, Nancy Paglino Driscoll; his three daughters, Courtney Driscoll, Meghan Chrzan, and Devin Seyler and her husband Nathan; his grandchildren, Reese and Brady Chrzan ,their father Ron Chrzan and Charlie and Finleigh Seyler; his sisters, Deborah Driscoll-Connolly and her husband John, Christina Benson and her husband Richard, and Theresa Strack and her husband Christopher; his nieces and nephews, Spencer Strack, Lindsey Benson, Nicholas Benson and his wife Kait, and Patrick Connolly and his wife Jennifer; and many good friends.

A loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Lillie is survived by her daughter April Amzad, son-in-law Ali Amzad, and a son Raymond Andrews. She leaves to cherish her memorial 3 sisters: Anabelle O'Bannon, Louise Bracey, and Mable Horace, 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Lillie was predeceased by her 3 sisters Margrette Mims, Myrtle Horace, and Annalee Kelly, one brother Grover Cleveland Jr., a husband Pun Andrews, son James(J.W.) Armstead, a granddaughter Johnetta Armstead.
Lillie (Sima) is loved and will be greatly missed, gone home to God who loved her best. Visitation will be held from 10a-12p on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019 at Colonial-Ramsay Funeral Home, 55 St. John St., Monticello, NY 12701. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.

Obituary Preview: Thomas Nickou, retired Liberty Central School Science Teacher, Summer School Principal and Associate Professor at Sullivan County Community College, died Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 93 years old.
The son of the late Kyriakos and Olga Pappacosta Nickou, he was born on June 19, 1926 in Astoria, NY.
He was married on January 6, 1951 to Bernadine Ryan in St. James Church in Cazenovia, NY.
He served in the U.S.Navy aboard the USS Oklahoma City in the Pacific War Zone during 1944-1946. He graduated from Cornell University in 1950, did his graduate work at Syracuse University and continued his education at SUNY New Paltz, New York University, Bridgewater State College, and SUNY Oswego.
Thomas was a member of the Summer School Principals Association, past president of the Liberty Faculty Associate, past Director of the southeastern zone of the Science Teachers Assn. of NY., past member of board of directors of the Science Supervisors Assn., member of the National Science Teachers Assn., National Education Assn., NYS United Teachers, and American Federation of Teachers.
As an educator he helped develop a First Aid Club and Junior Ambulance Corps, drug education and alcohol education programs, helped compile (with a committee of community members) a K-12 sex education program. He developed a K-12 CPR program. This led the way to the requirement that all graduates be proficient in CPR. Liberty was the first school in the state to institute such a requirement. He introduced Science Fairs (as an adjunct to the Science Research method) to the area and continued to conduct them through most of the years before retirement. He also was part of a team for writing the Regents exams in Biology, and the Regents competence tests in Science and Health.
He received the Outstanding Biology Teach Award (SE area) in 1985. He was one of three finalists for the outstanding Biology teacher in the state. Thomas was honored with the induction into the Liberty High School Wall of Fame in 2012.
Thomas was a charter member of the Town of Liberty Volunteer Ambulance Corps for 15 years, serving on the Board of Directors and as Education Officer. He developed a training manual (nine hour course) used to orient new members. He was an Emergency Medical Technician and assisted in teaching EMT courses. He was director of the Public School committee of the Heart Assn. for teaching CPR. Tom was also a Standard and Advanced First Aid Instructor and Instructor Trainer for the Red Cross and received the RC Achievement Award. And he served as an instructor and instructor trainer in CPR for the Heart Association and received the Heart Association Service Award in 1978.
Thomas is survived by his two sons Kerry Nickou and his wife Deborah and Timothy Nickou, two daughters Eileen Fashoro and her husband Craig Fashoro and Athena Parker and her husband Dr. Michael Parker, seven grandchildren, Thomas Nickou and wife, Melanie, Donald Nickou and his wife Katie, Carmen Knight and her husband, Andy Olmsted, Brittany Fashoro, Ashley Fashoro, Michael Parker and Frank Parker, and three great-grandchildren, Helena Elizabeth Olmsted, Natalie Ann Nickou and Vincent Augustus Nickou, brother-in-law, Jim Gill, numerous nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Bernadine and by his two brothers, Dr. Nickolas Nickou and Constantine Nickou and wife, Anita Nickou, brother-in-law Michael and his wife Jackie, sisters-in-law, Doris Nickou, Jean Arnold and her husband Ray, Eileen Ryan, Pat Dunne and her husband Paul, Loretta Snyder and her husband Fritz, Ruth-Anne Koennecke and her husband Al and Sheila Gill.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Bernadine and by two brothers, Dr. Nickolas Nickou and Constantine Nickou.
Visitation will be held Wednesday September 4, 2019 from 7PM until 9PM at Colonial-Ramsay Funeral Home, 275 S. Main Street, Liberty, NY 12754. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday September 5th at 11AM at the funeral home. Burial will take place on Friday, September 6th at St. James Cemetery in Casanova, NY.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her children Cindy Bowers and her wife, Flo Keahey and Tim Bowers and his wife Debbie; her grandchildren Casey and Justina Karsten and Tim and Jennette Carter; her great-grandchildren Wesley, Luke, Lilianna and Josiah; her beloved and very special nieces and nephews and her many devoted close friends. She now meets in Heaven her devoted husband Donald Bowers; her companion Kenneth Hill; as well as her two sisters and her brother.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 61 years Doris, his daughters Doris Sanchez and her husband Louis, Lorraine Frazita and her husband Joe, and Kathleen O`Mally and her husband David, 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, one cousin Charlotte Prusvinsky and her husband Alan and many other extended family, friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Colonial-Ramsay Funeral Home, 275 South Main Street Liberty, NY 12754 from 10:00am-12:00pm. A funeral service will begin at the funeral home at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery, White Sulfur Spring, NY.
