Obituary Preview: Joyce Ann Lemons King born November 5, 1951 to the union of Late Sadie Bell Reese and Wadell Lemons Sr.
Joyce loved her family, cooking, playing bingo, decorating, and her plants. She was a loving mother to her sisters and brother, her grandchildren, great grand-children and also her own 3 children. She was a jack of all trade, she could cook, clean, decorate, lay tile, do dry wall, paint, and dress. She loved attending church, her church home was New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, and her former Pastor was Pastor Eddie L. Jenkins. She sacrificed her own education to help mother, her brothers and sisters. Every holiday you could go to Joyce's house to get a plate because she loved cooking. She would light up the entire block with her holiday decorations. She was the neighborhood grandmother, she always treated everyone that came in contact with her as her own. She was Santa Clause to her grandchildren making every Christmas something to remember. She was a beautiful, hardworking, loving woman that will truly be missed. There is not enough words to describe just how much of a blessing she was to everyone. She was married but separated to Frank King.
She departed this life on April 13, 2022 at St. Franciscan Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter: Mary Ann Bryd,  two sisters: Onetha and Doretha   Lemons, three brothers: Joe Lemons, Wadell Lemons  Jr., and James Lemons, and one great-granddaughter: Danila Marie Grant.
Celebration of life will take place on Saturday, at 11am at Coleman and Hicks Chapel 101 Karwick Rd. Michigan City, Indiana 46360. Viewing will be 10am until time of service.

Kenya Loved playing basketball, traveling and hanging out with her family. She was a proud Varsity Basketball player. Kenya graduated from Isaac C. Elston High School in 1989. Her first job was at Carlson's Root Beer Stand, followed by GAF Factory. Kenya then began her career as a correctional officer, and that is where she stayed until her health declined. She received several certificates of accommodations.
Kenya Corley received her wings on April 8, 2022. She was preceded in death by her nephew, Russell Aldridge, her maternal and paternal grandparents, three uncles, Leon Aldridge Jr., Curtis  Aldridge and Chris Macon, one aunt, Velois Mosby.
A Celebration of life will be Friday, April 22, 2022 at 1pm with viewing at 12 noon until time of service at 1pm at Coleman and Hicks Chapel 101 S. Karwick Rd. Michigan City, Indiana 46360.

Edward Curtis Hervey - February 23, 1935 - April 07, 2022

Obituary Preview: Edward Curtis Hervey was the eldest son of the late Amos and Louella Brown Hervey. His life’s journey began on February 23, 1935, in Yalobusha County, Coffeeville, Mississippi. That journey ended on April 7, 2022, in LaPorte County, Michigan City, Indiana.
At the age of six (6), Edward started his elementary education at the Rocky Mountain M.B. Church School. It was the only school available at the time. After a period of time the Rocky Mountain Church School was consolidated with the Coffeeville Colored School in Coffeeville, Mississippi. Edward attended the Coffeeville Colored School throughout his middle and high school years. In his youth Edward joined the Rocky Mountain M.B. Church and worshipped there with his family until moving to Michigan City, Indiana. Edward was an avid hunter who trained his younger brothers and sisters to hunt for wildlife and birds. During his spare time, he developed a love and talent for playing the harmonica and guitar from his late Uncle John Eddie Brown. His self-taught skill of working on automobiles was the result of studying Popular Mechanic Magazines given to him by his late Uncle Russel Brown. Edward could diagnose and repair any problem on any make and model automobile!
On April 17, 1956, Edward married Blanche Garner from Tillatoba, Mississippi. To this union five (5) children was born. Encouraged by his wife and in-laws, on Labor Day, September 3, 1961, Edward relocated his family to Michigan City, Indiana in hopes of better employment opportunities. On October 9, 1966, Blanche precedes him in death as a result of an automobile accident.
Edward was employed by Interstate Steele from 1961 to 1966 and Weil McClain from 1966 to his retirement after 32 years in 2000. On July 24, 1971, Edward married Annie Houston, of Michigan City, Indiana. He became the loving father of three (3) more wonderful children. After retiring, Edward started his own lawn care service and continued to work on cars until his health began to fail.
Remembering a quiet, well lived life are his eight (8) children: Donnell (Ruby) Garner, Linda Joyce (Danny) Nichols, Gloria Delores Hurt, Edward Charles (Mary) Hervey, Greylon Ricky (Sheila) Hervey, and Derick Houston all of Michigan City, Indiana, Lawrence (Loannie) Houston of Wyoming, Michigan, and Cynthia (Christopher) McKenzie of Calumet City, Illinois; his loving sister Grace (Willie) Hardy of Memphis, Tennessee; brother in-law Butler McLeod of Water Valley, Mississippi; his dear friend and caretaker Annie Hervey of Michigan City, Indiana; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephew, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Edward was preceded in death by sisters: Rachel Duke, Edith McNeal, and Daliah McLeod; brothers: Prentiss Hervey and Elbert Hervey; and son in-law Johnny B. Hurt.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Coleman and Hicks Chapel at 11am located at 101 S. Karwick Rd. Michigan City, Indiana 46360 with viewing from 10am until time of service. Pastor Danny Brown to do Eulogy. Burial to follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.

Gwendolyn Hood - June 18, 1950 - April 06, 2022

Obituary Preview: Gwendolyn was born the 4th child of nine children on June 18, 1950 to Charles N. and Clara B. Hood in Gary, IN.
After Gwen graduated from Froebel High School, Gary, IN, class of 1968, she went on to work for Natural Gas Pipeline and Company of Chicago, IL which is now known as Occidental Petroleum of Lombard, Il. where she continued working until she retired.  Afterwards, Gwen’s passion to help others directed her to St. Franciscan (Formerly St. Anthony’s) as a C.N.A.  She graced many with her “Full of Life Personality”!  In 2002, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, which required her to retire early from giving her 120% care.
In 1969, Gwen birth her son, Anthony Waters whom she called Tone-Tone. Her son was her friend, caretaker, and her most beloved until he was tragically taken in 2018 by a drunken driver.  For the last four years, Gwen continued to move forward because she was very proud.
Gwen enjoyed traveling, especially with her three friends, (Gloria Smith, Sylva Harris, and Denise Black) all from Illinois.  Their choice of destination was Jamaica, whereas their travels were over 20 trips to Jamaica with the last one being in 2013 due to the M.S. becoming difficult for Gwen to travel.  Their many travels earned them the name of, “Golden Girls” given by one of the natives in Jamaica that they always encountered whenever they visited there.  In addition to traveling, Gwen enjoyed her family, gossiping on the phone with the “Golden Girls”, keeping up with world news, and shopping, and watching mysteries/ID channel.
In addition to being a proud woman, she was strong-willed and a people person.  No matter where she went, she would strike up a conversation with strangers to the point that you would think they already knew each other.  She made sure that everyone she was connected to was taken care of one way or another.  Gwen’s family orientation was the glue that her siblings gravitated towards her. She was such a mother figure to her siblings, that she called all of her siblings born after her, affectionately, her kids.
Gwendolyn went home to be with the Lord on April 6, 2022. Gwendolyn was preceded by her son, Anthony Waters, her parents, three brothers, Charles N. (Hood) Hameed, Edward W. Hood, and Kevin Hood.  She was also preceded by a special nephew, Tommie J. Allison II.
Services will be held at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 123 Helen St., Michigan City, IN. on Tuesday April 19, 2022.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. with services beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. Stanley Mason presiding. Burial to follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
She is survived by one sister, La Tanya (Harland, whom she affectionately called “Mister”) Stewart, four brothers, Ronald A. Hood, Indianapolis, IN Byron (Barbara) Hood, Greenville, MS, Wayne C. (Linda) Hood, Gary, IN, Dennis L. (Donna) Hood, and a special great nephew, DaShawn Holmes whom she called, (Ooompa), She also leaves to cherish, the three Golden Girls, close friend and niece, Samara Stewart, Pomona CA., sister friends, Gwendolyn Waters and Kelley Waters both of Portage, IN, and Sandra Elaine George, Michigan City, IN, Gwendolyn also leaves two special daughters, Sylva Chambers and Shekiyah Tyree Of Illinois, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. ***THIS SERVICE WILL BE LIVE-STREAMED***

Obituary Preview: Creglas Remied Sr., was born May 3, 1960 to Elenna Dixon and Charles A. Remied Sr., in Chicago, Illinois. Creglas was the third born into this union. He accepted christ at an early age at Austin Presbyterian Church. He attended Chicago Public School System, as well as  Austin High School. Creglas (Creg) was known for his sense of always willing to help. Creg didn’t mind using his hands or cleaning. Whenever you were around Creg you are going to always have a good memory or many laughs. He loved playing black jack, dominoes, and listening to his blues. Creg was known for his choiceful language and definitely for always yelling “Aww Jesus” and “Candy!”
The lord called Creglas home on March 31, 2022. Proceeding him in death is his mother, Elenna Hollway, his two beloved sisters, Alisa Riddle, and Tywanda Remied and his daughter Candice Remied.
Creg leaves to mourn and cherish his memories, his parents: Charles A. Mother Madie K. Mosley - July 06, 1927 - March 30, 2022

Obituary Preview: Madie K. Kelly was born on July 6, 1927 to Roy and Tressie (Ferrell) Kelly in the town of Round Pond, Arkansas in Saint Francis County. She was known to family and friends as Mother Madie.
She accepted Christ in her life at a very young age. Before leaving Arkansas, she was blessed with a son Ernest Riley. She then moved to Chicago where she met L. K Small Sr. and to this union Madie was blessed with another son, LK Small Jr. Later she would meet and marry John Mosley on June 1, 1957. As husband and wife they relocated to Michigan City where they made their permanent home. This union would last 52 years until Johns' death.
She was employed with Hayes factory as a production worker for several years. She would go on and work for Thermco Instruments where she retired in 1997.  Madie loved singing. She and her sisters would sing at different churches and cities. With the help of their mother Tressie, they formed a singing group then known as "The Voices of Calvary". Later they would rename the group "The Kelly Sisters". As well as her love for singing and music, she loved to dance. She and her brother Roger won several dance contests together.
Madie was a very classy lady, always riding in style in her Cadillac's and dressed to the tee. She had a love for travel. When her grand children grew up and moved to various places around the United States, this gave her the perfect opportunities to travel and explore different places. She also had a love for gardening, this love followed her from her home town. Madie especially loved making a home for her children and grand children. She called them the best parts of her. She always welcomed family and friends into her home. Her church family was also a very important part of her life. She was a faithful member of the Greater Powerhouse Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Charles E. Dowdell and was on the Mother's Board,  Missionary Board, and was an anointed prayer warrior that could move heaven at any time.
Madie (Kelly) Mosley, was promoted to Glory to be with the Lord on March 30th, 2022 at Franciscan Health Centers. She was preceded in death by her parents: Roy and Tressie Kelly, husband: John Mosley, son: Ernest Riley, 3 sisters: Ester Braxton, Willie Mae Walker, and Mattie Taylor, 7 brothers: Lovie, Lemon, Pastor Roger, Carmel, Bobby, James, and George  Kelly one brother-in-law Bennie Mack, one god-daughter, Nancy Perry.
She leaves to cherish her unforgettable memories and legacy, her son, L.K Small Jr., two Sisters: Ann Mack  both of Michigan City, Indiana; and Margret Petrie of Olive Branch, Mississippi; Seven grand children: Lorraine Harmon of Michigan City, Indiana; my one and only grandson: Mario Riley, Marla Riley (Daryl) Wilson all of Alton, Illinois; DeAndre Crawford of Shreveport, Louisiana; Marie Small of San Diego, California; Lynn (Kevin) Fuller of Shreveport, Louisiana; and Melissa (Anthown) Wren of Fort Worth, Texas; two god- daughters: Christine Arndt, and Linda Williams, life-long friend: Mother Pauline Lawhorn all of Michigan City, Indiana; She is also survived by 19 great-grand children and a host of great-great grand children, nieces and nephews, and Church Family.
A Celebration of life of life will take place on Good Friday, April 15, 2022 at Greater Power House 428 N. Woodland Ave. Michigan City, Indiana 46360 at 12 noon with Pastor Edker Hull. Viewing will be at 11am until time of service. Repast to follow at the Church immediately following services. Burial will be Monday, April 18, 2022 at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens at 1pm.

Joseph Wagner Sr. - November 10, 1944 - March 28, 2022

Obituary Preview: Joseph Wagner Sr., was born on Nov. 10, 1944, to Herbert Wagner Sr. and Altee Moore in Farm Wood, Mississippi. Joe accepted Christ at an early age. He became a member of Mount Zion M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Stanley Mason, and he served as an Usher. Joe later Joined Deliverance & Victory under the leadership of Apostles Darrell and Vera Roberts, and remained a faithful member there. He graduated from Hammond High School in Hammond, Louisiana. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, bid whist, watching sports, corn whole (better known as "bags") and traveling. One of his famous questions that he was known for was, "What is the deal?” That became one of Johnson Road’s funniest quotes. Joe was a very hard worker and a wonderful provider, he worked for NIPSCO for 30 years and retired in 2004. Joe married the love of his life, Dorothy George, on Sept. 20, 1986. They were married for 35 years. From this union one child was born, LaTisha Wagner. On March 28, 2022, Joseph was promoted to Glory and welcomed home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There to welcome him home were his parents, Herbert and Altee Wagner; his daughter, Vonda Kay Williams; his son, Jimmie Grant Jr.; his brothers, Henry Wagner and Dewitt Moore; and his sister, Gloria Burton. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, April 4, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 123 Helen St., Michigan City, Indiana, with his wife, Pastor Dorothy Wagner, to give Eulogy. Obituary Preview: Christopher O’Neal Jackson was brought into the hands of Sylvia Rai Jackson and Eddie Jackson Sr., on May 16, 1993 in Michigan City, Indiana.
As a child, Christopher enjoyed utilizing anything with technology such as having the latest game system or jamming with his new headphones. He never failed to tell you anything you needed to know about cars, especially muscle cars. As time grew on, Christopher always shared his excitement with his father when it came to working on cars or going to drag strips.
In June of 2012, Christopher hit one of his biggest milestones as he graduated from Michigan City High School with the support of his family. Following graduation, Christopher continued to pursue his favorite hobbies, such as working with cars along with helping others. Christopher was always dedicated and a caring person that always came when help was needed. He had a sense of humor that if you knew Christopher, you would understand. He loved making people laugh, and that’s what kept him going. Christopher was very ambitious and outgoing, as he simply enjoyed the company of many family and friends.
On March 21, 2022 Christopher went to be with his parents and loved ones that welcomed him home. He was preceded in death by his parents: Eddie Jackson Sr., and Sylvia Rai Jackson, his brother: Michael L. Jackson, Grandmothers: Willie Christine Garrett and Christine Free, Grandfather: Jimmy Lee Jackson, and special aunt: Deidre Armstrong.
A Celebration of life will be Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 11 to 2pm at New Hope Baptist Church 730 W. 6th St.  Michigan City, Indiana 46360 with Pastor Justin Norwood to give Eulogy.

Paulette was always smiling and could always bring out laughter in everyone.
Paulette left this earth and went to be with our family members who were happily welcoming her into heaven on March 16, 2022. She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents, parents, Pablo (MaryAnn) Roman, sister, Rosemary (Mimi) Roman and brothers, Christopher and Carlos Roman, Beloved son, Orlando Tyrone Powell and precious granddaughter, Savannah Lynn Roman.
A wake will take place on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 4pm to 7pm at Coleman and Hicks Chapel 101 S. Karwick Rd. Michigan City, Indiana 46360. A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Coleman and Hicks Chapel at 12 noon. Viewing will be from 11am until time of service with Pastor Dierre Glenn to do Eulogy. She was born November 7, 1953, Memphis, TN to the late Tommie Lee White Sr. and Alice Francis (Rollins) Orr. She was raised in Chicago, Il and later resided in Michigan City, IN. Deloris was a graduate of John Marshall High School and the Chicago Business Academy. Deloris confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and remained faithful to her faith until the Lord called her home.
The majority of her life, Deloris was surrounded by friends and family. She was very charismatic and enjoyed fellowship and family outings. Deloris loved to cook, read books, and relax with romantic love songs and a glass of wine. She was a member of the Jolly 60s ministry of Fairhaven Baptist Church. Many will remember her warm hugs and gentle kisses. Deloris was an attentive worker as he held positions as a key punch operator, filing check, machine operator, and sales associate.
Deloris is preceded in death by her siblings, Joe, James & John Watts; James, John & Gloria White; Mae Francis Orr, Freddie B. Rollins, Dorothy Mae Watts, Alfred Watts, Marica Orr, and Tommy White Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter Erica Orr, Michigan City, IN; two sons: Lumumba White (Tracey) of Michigan City, IN; Tommie White (Patrice) of VA; Three sisters: Shirley Watts-Rebolledo of Chicago, IL; JoAnn Campbell of Michigan City, IN; Connie Orr of AR and   brother, Ronnie Orr of Rondo, AR. Faye loved spending holidays with her family but most of all she enjoyed talking on the phone with her three children. She was a faithful member of Christ Temple Apostolic Ministries until she relocated to South Bend, Indiana and her health began to fail. Faye Lynn had a great sense of humor and always greeted everyone she met with a wonderful bright smile.
Faye was promoted to Glory on February 25, 2022 in South Bend, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, one brother Johnny F. Mitchell, and a special aunt, Lillie Martin.
Celebration of life will take place on  Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Christ Temple Apostolic Ministries 2308 E. Michigan City, Indiana 46360 with Bishop Joe L. Bennett to do Eulogy. Burial to follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. This Service will be live-streamed. MASK ARE REQUIRED FOR SERVICES.

Lucas Carl Chubb-Manis embarked on a new journey into the universe on February 19, 2022. He leaves his mother, Deborah Chubb, brother, Teddy Chubb, and many loving friends to cherish their memories of his kindness, intellect, and fun-loving goofing around. He is also survived by his father, Gary Manis, Stepmother, Janice Manis, their daughters, Courtney and Hannah, Aunt and Uncle, Robin and Larry Chubb, and their children Calvin, Brian, and Emily of Chesterton.
Lucas graduated from Chesterton High School and studied Information Technology at Purdue University Northwest. He worked at several businesses as a CAD specialist and at Head Start of LaPorte County as the Director of IT, but was most well-known for his culinary pursuits as a creator of superb artisanal pizza.
Lucas was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic melanoma in 2017. He underwent many innovative treatments and received outstanding care at IU Health’s Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis.  He also volunteered for a clinical trial to test experimental immunotherapy at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. He endured the illness and treatments with grace and a positive hope for a cure, and left the earth peacefully, without pain.
We hope that he can finally meet his maternal grandmother, Joan, with whom he can pursue their mutual interests in philosophy, Shakespeare, and the complexities of world politics and religion. His paternal grandmother, maternal grandfather, and maternal great-aunt and uncles preceded him in death.
In memoriam donations may be made to Hoosier Environmental Council, melanoma research, and/or planting of native trees in your yard.
