Ruby Jo Corley - November 20, 1931 - March 02, 2022

Departed: 03/02/2022 (Brookshire)
Obituary Preview: Ruby Jo Corley (Martin) died on March 3, 2022, at 10:50 P.M.  She is survived by her daughter Barbra and her four sons, Donald, Michael, John and Richard.  A 5th son Randall passed away in January of 2022.
Ruby Jo Corley (Martin) was born in Madisonville Texas in 1931.  She was the only daughter of Cecil and Opal Martin.  Her father worked for a while in Huntsville Texas where he served as a Prison Guard before getting a job with the Gas Company and moving to Beaumont Texas.  In 1955, she married Donald M. Corley Sr. in Laredo, Texas. Ruby Jo Corley (Martin) was known as Honey to family and friends.  Honey was the one single rock of strength and love for all her children and often for their friends.  Below are her children’s thoughts:
Barbra:  Mom made the best cheese enchiladas I ever ate. Whenever I was coming to visit I always asked for them and she always made them for me. I even brought friends just to eat her enchiladas. We all agreed they were the best ever.
Rick:  Mom was a very loving and caring mom.  She would listen with love.  She would give advice and would say “but you need to pray to God about it and listen to Him”.  She had the daunting task of keeping the 5 Corley brothers in line and she did it with love and class and with the Man Upstairs.  There were two businesses that were opened, and she was there in the front lines helping and working hard to make them successful.  One of those businesses was a Vineyard and Winery.  She was out there in the Vineyard working just as hard out in the heat and cold while never complaining.
Mike:  Ruby was a good-hearted woman and an understanding encouraging mother.  Loved by her many children, she is deeply missed.  Ruby was a stabilizing force in a sometimes-distant family.
Johnny: We called her “Honey” because that’s what our father called her when we were young.  I called her “Ruby Jo” after Aunt Berniece came down.  To me she was compassionate, forgiving, selfless, generous, and hard working.  All those God-like attributes wrapped up in a frail little woman named Ruby Jo.  I miss you Honey.
Don:  All my life she was the one person who truly showed me love.  She could stand before the storms of life and seemingly never be stressed.  Her strength, her love for her children, these things stand out in my memory of her.  In total, she was one magnificent woman.
