Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in Ozark, Alabama with Pastor Kevin Bond officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. A visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the cemetery. Flowers will be accepted.
Patricia was born November 14, 1943, in Ariton, Alabama to the late Joseph M. and Louise Rogers Roberts. She enjoyed teaching arts and crafts and working with flowers in her garden. Patricia attended Friendly Assembly of God church when her health allowed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Olon Napper; sister, Lilly Ann Ivey; brother, Joby. Roberts.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Mixon Napper (Scarlet) Thomas Olon Napper (Kimberly Stewart), and Jason Edward Napper; two brothers, Jason Roberts (Candace) and Jospeh Rogers; eighteen grandchildren, fifty-one great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Selene was born January 8, 1934, in Louisville, Alabama to the late Henry Huey and Elma Marie Hagler Beaty. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening.
She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, R.C. Baxley Jr.; brother, Joe Beaty; two sisters, Marie Gould and Donita “Nita” Walker.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Ted D. Obituary Preview: James “Jimmy” Forest Hatcher Jr., a resident of Texasville, Alabama passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024, at his residence. He was 72 years old.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Glover Funeral Home in Clayton, Alabama with Bro. Craig Long officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Slocomb, Alabama with Bro. Don Hatcher officiating. Flowers will be accepted or contributions can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Jimmy was born July 23, 1951, in Hartford, Alabama to James Forest Hatcher Sr. and Mary Frances Davis Hatcher. He was a 1969 graduate of Slocomb High School and later obtained a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Troy State University. Jimmy retired from the NRCS in Clayton, Alabama with over 20 years of service. While employed there he was a “friend to the farmers” and enjoyed talking with them about their farmland and their everyday lives. He was awarded the Jerry L. Johnson Award for Public Service in 2017. Jimmy also loved being a houseparent for the Alabama Sheriff’s Boys and Girls Ranches, where he was known by the children as Pop Hatcher. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing at his favorite fishing hole, Dead Lakes, gardening, attending Troy baseball games, watching Alabama football, and supporting many youth sporting events. He loved the Lord, listening to southern gospel music, and was a member of Rhema Baptist Church in Blue Springs, Alabama.
He is preceded in death by his father.
Left to cherish his memories are his mother; loving wife of 48 years, Marilyn Joy Barnett Hatcher; two sons, Joshua Hatcher (Pam) of Franklin, Tennessee and Jason Hatcher (Katharine) of Sugarland, Texas; two brothers, Johnny Hatcher of Wewahitchka, Florida and Jerry Hatcher (Amanda) of Rehobeth, Alabama; four grandchildren, Hadley Hatcher, Eli Hatcher, Olivia Hatcher, and Evelyn Hatcher. Lorain was born February 19, 1928, in Columbus, Georgia the daughter of the late Keir W. and Ella Miller Walters. She was employed with Clayton Elementary School as a reading teacher and she also worked for Van Heusen. She enjoyed doing ceramics and spending time with her family. She loved and adored her grandchildren. Lorain was a member of Clayton Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 46 years, Ralph Garner; brother, Floyd Walters and sister, Annie Mae Little.
Survivors include her loving son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Nancy Nix Garner of Clayton, Alabama; two grandchildren, Lori Garner Garrett (Hubie) of Banks, Alabama and Timothy Carl Garner (Britney) of Mountain Brook, Alabama; four great-grandchildren, Bailey Kilpatrick (Zachary), Cassidy Lillian Garrett, Daisey Mae Garrett, and Margaret Lorraine “Mae” Garner; two great-great grandchildren, Tyler Benjamin Kilpatrick and Jacob Douglas Kilpatrick.

Johnny was born August 15, 1955, in Troy, Alabama to the late William Council and Doris Vernon Kennedy Clark. He worked for over 40 years in research and development for American Buildings Co. in Eufaula, Alabama. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, but most of all he loved his family and spending time with them. Johnny was a member of Louisville Fire and Rescue, Greens Crossroads Fire Department, Louisville City Council, and a faithful member of Louisville Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Thomas Stell; two brothers, Donald Ray Clark and Lance Clark; sister, Mary Ryals; father and mother-in-law, Jack and Martha Williams.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 47 years, Judy Williams Clark; son, Jonathan (Mary Frances) Clark of Comer, Alabama; daughter, Kristy Clark (Wayne) Stell of Clayton, Alabama; brother, Billy Wayne Clark of Louisville, Alabama; four grandchildren, Hayden Stell, Connor Stell, Lorelai Clark, and Julie Catherine Clark; aunt, Joyce Harris; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church in Clayton, Alabama with Rev. Wiley McWhorter, Rev. Josh Powell, and Rev. Curtis Rich officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in the Bethsaida Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Vela Mae was born September 21, 1928, in Blue Springs, Alabama to the late Walter Franklin and Evie Bell Swanner Helms. She was a graduate of Clio High School and later worked as a school nurse and bus driver for the Barbour County Board of Education. After her retirement she enjoyed volunteering as a Pink Lady at Barbour County Hospital in Eufaula, Alabama. She was a great seamstress and loved making dolls for the people in her community, a wonderful cook, an avid gardener and loved playing Rummikub and Mexican Train with her dear friend, Ann. Vela Mae loved the Lord and was an avid student of the Bible; she held a community Bible study at her home for many years and was a long-time member of Evergreen Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Bennie Frank Green; daughter, Janet M. Green; seven brothers, Bill Helms, JP Helms, Lewie Helms, Jr Helms, Shelly Helms, John Helms, and Howard Helms, dear friend, Odell Dykes and beloved dog, Elmo.

Bobby was born December 13, 1941, to the late Emmett O’neal Cox and Bennie Frank Hurst. He was a veteran of the United States Army and owned and operated Cox Plumbing and Repair for over 40 years. He loved his grandchildren, fishing, westerns, Alabama football and the Atlanta Braves. Bobby was a member of Union Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Ben Cox; sister-in-law Yvonne Wood.
Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Betty McLure Cox; son, Rev. Bob Cox (Emily) of Texasville, Alabama; two brothers, Luther Dean Cox (Mirlyn) of Mobile, Alabama and Jimmy Wood of Eufaula, Alabama; sister, Linda Adams (Toby) of Eufaula, Alabama; two grandchildren, Shellie and Molly Cox both of Texasville, Alabama; several nieces and nephews.

Ollie was born February 18, 1931, in Barbour County, Alabama to the late William Henry and Cora Mae Sanders Johnson. He was retired from the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country for 21 years. Ollie enjoyed music and was a natural musician that could play any stringed instrument by ear. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening. Ollie was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and later attended Summerville Baptist Church in Phenix City, Alabama.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife, Ruby Jean Green Johnson.

Funeral services with military honors will be held Monday, January 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Louisville Baptist Church in Louisville, Alabama with Dr. John Michael Helms officiating and Glover Funeral Home of Clayton directing. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of the flowers the family requests contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital- 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
Haywood was born April 25, 1939, in Barbour County to the late Quinton Winford and Fannie Evans Helms. After graduating Barbour County High School in 1957, he joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for almost 21 years. He also was a teacher at Dixie Academy in Louisville. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, working on the farm, and playing dominoes, but most of all he loved and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James Helms (Thelma), John W. Helms (Eileen), and Quinton Helms, Jr. (Mervyn); two sisters, Annie Catherine Segers (William Jr.) and Mildred Johnson (Merwin); five brothers-in-law, Earl Baker, Louie Hurst, Spurgeon Baker (Barbara Sue), Dean Baker, and Bobby Baker (Mary); three sisters-in-law, Ruby Kate Faircloth (Andrew), Louise Helms, and Ruth Helms.

Ruby enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, cooking, and embroidering. Ruby was active in church and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church but more recently attended Summerville Baptist Church in Phenix City, Alabama.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Victor Green; sister, Evelyn G. Stroh.

In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, crafting, and planning events and parties. Frances was the Bible School Director for the Baptist Association for 15 years, she was a certified bookkeeper, and was a member of Pleasant Plains Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Betty Bowden Bramlett.

Kathryn was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on Sept. 30, 1946, she was the daughter of Robert Word Redwine and Hazel (Green) Redwine. She grew up mostly in Falls Church, Virginia, graduating from high school there in 1964. After a year at the University of California in Santa Barbara, she transferred to George Washington University in D.C. and graduated in 1968 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. Kathryn then received her master’s degree in numerical analytics from John Hopkins University in 1970. She had a great passion for math and computer programming which influenced her interactions with others throughout her life.
Professionally she was employed as a computer programmer and worked at Computer Sciences Corp from 1969 to 1973. She then moved to Greensboro North Carolina working for Blue Bell Corporation. In 1976 she joined IBM and worked in multiple locations including Poughkeepsie NY, Minneapolis Minnesota and ultimately to Sterling Forest, New York where she held several managerial positions until she retired in 1991.
Kathryn is survived by her beloved husband Thomas Roger Brokke who she shared her life with as childhood sweethearts and for fifty-two years of endearing marriage. Kathryn also leaves behind her dear brother Robert Page Redwine, sister-in-law Sharon, two treasured nephews Keith and Jonathan, and several cousins.
Kathryn lived her life caring for her cherished family of many adopted pets. She cared deeply for all of God’s creatures. She loved gardening with her husband and was adept at decorating her lovely home that she referred to as her unfinished symphony. She was very involved with animal shelters and was a benevolent donator to her favorite charities. She lived in Kinnelon, NJ for 40 years.
In accordance with Kathryn’s wishes, a private cremation ceremony was held on October 9, 2023.
Rest in peace, dear Kathryn, knowing that your legacy lives on in the heart of all those who were fortunate to have known you.
