Ben will be most remembered by his family as a good man, creative cook and canner. In his professional life, he began his career as a music teacher in St. Paul beginning at Mechanic Arts High School in 1969. He then went on to develop and lead the music program at the Performing Arts Center on Holly & Grotto which was eventually incorporated and expanded into the recording arts program at Central High School. He retired from SPPS in June of 2001 and spent his last 8 years as a teacher in the Fine Arts Department at Cretin-Durham Hall, after which he retired permanently.One of Ben's most cherished uses of his voice talent was as a volunteer reader at Minnesota State Services for the Blind from December of 1992 until March of 2020. He also shared his beautiful singing voice in the choirs at The Church of St. Mary and the Church of the Assumption in downtown St. Paul. A gathering to remember and honor Ben will be held in the courtyard next to 225 9th Street East in downtown St. Paul on Friday, August 19th . A private gathering gathering for family and close friends will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. Anyone who would like to come and share a memory of Ben may join us between 11:30 A.m. and 2:00 P.M. Parking will be available in the First Baptist Church parking lot on the corner of Wacouta and 9th Street.

He had been battling cancer for the pastyear and was surrounded by his wife, family and grandchildren in the days and hoursleading up to his death.Francis was born on November 15, 1937, the youngest of thirteen children born to Jacoband Margaret (Gerein) Schneider at Orrin, North Dakota. He grew up on the family farmnear Orrin and graduated from Minnewaukan High School in 1957. After he graduated,he continued farming with his father until 1962.On June 11, 1962, he married the love of his life, Gloria Lemer and together theypurchased a farm near Minnewaukan, ND. It was there they raised seven children. In2002, they moved off the farm and moved into a house in Minnewaukan, ND. In 2014,they moved to a senior living community in Vadnais Heights, MN.Francis was never idle. He farmed in rural Minnewaukan, ND for many years. Inaddition, he held many jobs off the farm. Shegraduated from Roosevelt High School in South Minneapolis in 1962 and later returned toschool to become a nursing assistant. She worked as a nursing assistant for over 30 years atOBGYN West in Eden Prairie where she was often called "Needles" for her impeccable blooddraw skills and was well loved by doctors and staff. She was also a devoted caretaker for hermother during this time.Rosie enjoyed gardening, bird watching, puzzle games, snuggling her cats, Gracie and Ginger,and crocheting blankets for everyone in her family. She loved to cook and was known forspending a weekend with her grandchildren and cooking up all their favorites. She never arrivedwithout gifts or treats for everyone, but always handed them out to the dogs first.She leaves behind her life partner of more than 40 years, Bob, and a close-knit group of lifelongfriends whom she considered family. Together they shared many adventures at "The Girls'Cabin Parties" near Zimmerman where Rosie loved to swim and sunbathe. Eleanor met Ken, the love of her life, in Sioux Falls, SD. They were married in June 1954. She is fondly remembered for being dressed to the nines, her green thumb, spending all day in the garden, a good game of Rummy, balloons, sweets and a good cup of coffee. We will always remember the fun times we had at the cabins in Forest Lake, MN.
Mom was known to say this to us: "Always make sure you have clean underwear on in case you get hurt and need to go to the doctor".
When the grandkids would come over to grandmas in the cold weather times, she would give them a dime if they could show her that they were wearing an undershirt.
Mom continued her witty humor until she walked hand in hand with God. Services will be held: Kessler and Maguire Funeral Home/Choice Cremation 640 West 7th St St. Paul, MN 55102 Visitation: Wednesday, November 10, 2021 1:00-3:00 pm Memorial service: 3:00-4:00 pm Private Family Interment
