Proverbs 31:28 Barbara Jean Soileau of Slaughter, LA passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on March 25, 2024. Barbara was born in Opelousas on August 12, 1939, the daughter of Crawford and Claudia Johnson. One of five siblings and a resident of Opelousas during her youth, she was a graduate of Opelousas High School. Barbara's greatest love was her family. She taught her daughters what it means to be an amazing mother and how to generously love their children and husbands. The well-being of her family was her greatest source of contentment. We will continue to feel her loving presence when we see some of her favorite things: hummingbirds,
zinnias, the color purple, peplums, beautiful fabric, and the smile of her forever sweetheart, Jerry. All of those are reminders of how the simplest of things brought her such joy. Her family will forever thank her, love her and miss her. The family would like to especially thank St. Joseph’s Hospice and two precious caretakers, Bird (Grace Rehab) and Pam David (private sitter) for their
love and gentle care. Barbara is preceded in death by her daughter, Carlene Soileau, brother, Floyd Johnson, and sister, Rita Everett. Why are obituaries important?
