Joyce E. Jones - April 14, 1958 - December 24, 2023

Departed: 12/24/2023 (Garner)
Obituary Preview: Joyce E. Jones, 65, of Raleigh, NC, transitioned from this life on December 24, 2023. She was born on April 14, 1958, to the late Ella Mae J. Ray and William J. King.
Joyce had many different ventures. As change was challenging for most, Joyce embraced it, never afraid of moving on to a new chapter. She encouraged her children to do the same and instilled her “can-do” spirit within them. Her favorite role was being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending quality time with her children and witnessing them succeed at goals they sought out. Joyce loved to work. Amongst many occupational endeavors, she was a cashier, an aide to the elderly, and a manager at a senior living center.
She lived in New York, but returned to her hometown to raise her children. She was a woman of grace and thoroughly enjoyed fun and laughter. She lit up any room that she walked into with her infectious smile. She was selfless, especially to the youth in her community, and would open the doors of her home, to anyone that needed a safe place to live, in a heartbeat. She would give her last, then figure out how she would obtain more. She never gave up and had an outstanding ability to adapt to any situation with ease, especially if it was in the best interest of her children.
Her passing has left her loved ones filled with a tremendous sadness. Her ability to sacrifice, support, provide, and mend will be forever engraved in the hearts of everyone who loved her.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Uligi “Danni” Olise.
Joyce E. Jones, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, is survived by her husband, Kevin J. Jones; her sons, Christopher Ray and Charles Lopes; and her daughters, Ossai Nnani and Patricia Olise. Following the service there will be a balloon release. We ask that you bring purple balloons as that was her favorite color. Donations and visitations may be made to her daughter, Patricia Olise. Please reach out by email: patricia.jayee@gmail.com
