Obituary Preview: Floyd "Brock" Emanuel Hennis, 76 of Wellsburg, WV, passed peacefully away on Saturday Morning, April 27, 2024 at his residence. Floyd was born on December 30, 1947 in Wellsburg, WV. He was the son of the late Lawrence Charles Hennis
and Annabelle (Crawford) Hennis.
Floyd worked as a mechanic at Zatta’s. Many will remember Floyd for his love a nice cold Michelob beer, his beloved dogs and cats; but most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his sister, Velma McLaughlin and dear friend, Mary Lou
Hood.
Floyd is survived by his five children, Melissa Disher and her fiancé, Clifford Neal, Jason Disher, Timothy Jensen, Chuck Hennis and Mark Trevena, grandchildren, Tyler, Zayn, Jeffery, Raelee, Nakaylynn, Brooklynn, Braylynn, Ashlynn, Ellynn, Isabelle, Jazmynn, Timothy and many more, several great grandchildren, a life long friend, Tana Disher, a sister, Leona LaRoche and nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Jimmie “JD” Dale George, 71 of Wellsburg, WV, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at his residence under the care of his family with assistance from Valley Hospice.
JD was born on April 2, 1953 in Marietta, OH. He was the son of the late John George and Mildred (Gillette) George.
JD served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp during Vietnam receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal with Device, Philippine Presidential Unit Citation and the Marksman Rifle Badge. He was a detective and patrolman with the Weirton Police Department for 25 years in addition to the Follansbee Police Department for 5 years. JD was a member of the FOP Lodge #84 and the American Legion, both of Weirton, WV. Many will remember JD for his love of golf especially with his buddies of the Oglebay Men’s Monday Night League and playing Texas Hold’em at the Viking Social Club. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirate fan.
In addition to his parents, JD was preceded in death by his nine siblings, Jim, Bill, Tommy and Wilbur Postlewaite, Emma Jones, Katie Hildebrand and Ray, John and Bobby George.
JD is survived by his wife of 50 years, Robin (Dodd) George, two children, Jimmie “JJ” John George of Wintersville, OH and Eva George and her companion, Mitch Hiatt of Spencer, WV, five grandchildren, Kodi George and Haley George, both of Pittsburgh, PA, and Emily, Samuel and Daniel James “DJ” George, a brother, Bobby Postlewaite, a sister, Wilma Swartz and several nieces and nephews.

Doris was born on March 19, 1929 in Brilliant, OH. She was the daughter of the late Myron “Bobby” Davis and Grace (Rager) Davis.
Doris was a 1947 graduate of Wellsburg High School. She was a devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church serving with the Altar Rosary Society, Pastoral Council, Volunteer Coordinator and Office Aide for the St. John Parish School in addition to her volunteer work with the Wellsburg Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, George Hornick, two sons, Larry and Richard Hornick, six grandchildren and a brother, Richard Davis.
Doris is survived by her five children, Bruce Hornick, Michael Hornick and his wife, Jenny, Diana DiProsperis and her husband, Ronald, Patti Smith and her husband, James and Elrita McAvoy, six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, three nephews and a niece.

Albert loved hunting and going to concert especially the Jamboree in the Hills. He listened to music from Country to Rock and Roll. Many will remember Albert for his care of animals and spending time with his family with the famous Easter Egg Hunts.
In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Miller, three siblings, Earl Miller Jr and Robert “Dee” Miller, and Mina “Marie” Roberts father-in-law and mother-in-law, Floyd L. and Daisy (McNevin) Beall and a brother-in-law, Floyd A. Beall.
Albert is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janie (Beall) Miller, three siblings, Carl Miller, Rex Miller and his wife, Brenda, and Valerie June Henthorn and her husband, Chris, three sisters-in-law, Peggy Miller, Jeanie Miller, and Nancy Beall, a brother-in-law, Bub Beall and numerous nieces and nephew, who loved him dearly.

William was born on August 18, 1950 in Steubenville, OH. He was the son of the late Clarence and AnnaBell (Jolly) Rouse.
William served proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War in Germany with the 10th Medical Lab Division. He retired after 42 years of service to Weirton Steel working mainly in the Electronics’ Department. Many will remember William for his love of softball, participating as the Coach of the Hawks at the Follansbee Recreation League, and always hunting and fishing.
William is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jean (Bergund) Rouse of Colliers, WV, two children, Tracy Painter and her husband, Chad of Wellsburg, WV and Kristopher Rouse and his wife, Penni of Charles Town, WV, three grandchildren, Morgan and Dustin Lancaster and Judah.

Obituary Preview: Timothy Lee Noel Sr., 81 of Wellsburg, WV, passed away suddenly Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Weirton Medical Center.
Tim was born on May 2, 1942 in Wellsburg, WV, son of the late Raymond Noel and Juanita (Wolfe) Noel.
Tim retired after 20 years of service with the United States Marine Corps as a Gunnery Sergeant and a Master Blaster in Explosive Ordnance Devices (EOD). When called, he worked with the Navy Seals. Tim received numerous medals including the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation Navy Achievement Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with six stars, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960 Device, Navy Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal with five stars, Certificate of commendation, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Frame, Meritorious Unit Citation, Letter of Appreciation, Sharpshooter Rifle and Pistol Expert Badges x5 and numerous Meritorious Mast. After retiring from the Marine Corps he worked as a Foreman for 14 years at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Coke Plant on the old block. After retiring from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Tim was hired as a contractor in Explosive Ordnance Devices working throughout the United States cleaning up ordnance that had surfaced over the years. He was a member of the Hooverson Heights Church of Christ and life member of the VFW. Many will remember Tim for his service to our Country through the Marine Corps, his enjoyment of fishing and working with disabled veterans through Healing Waters.
Tim is survived by his wife of 31 years, Janet (Huggins) Noel, three children, Evelyn Pietanza of Monrovia, MD, Juanita (Jack) Dixon of Havelock, NC and Timothy L Noel Jr. of Hagerstown, MD, three step children, Christine (Jon) Gausche of Bonaire, GA, John (Teresa) Sullivan of Bethel Park, PA, and Kelly (Larry) Simms of Salem, OH, seven grandchildren, Olivia, Victoria and Alexandra Pietanza, Christopher (Audrey) Noel, Mark Bellinger, Krista Dixon and Zoe Noel, eight step grandchildren, John Dean (Katie) Gausche, Kristen (Elton) Bryant, Brigitte (Doug) Bovee, Morgan, Riley and Avery Sullivan, and Megan and Kyle Simms, a great grandchild, Oren Noel, four step great grandchildren, Shane (Isabel), Reese and Brigitte Bryant, and Owen Bovee, a sister, Sandy (John) Darnes of Heath, OH and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Elouise worked at JCPenny, Steubenville, OH as a sales clerk. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Wellsburg, WV and the C.E.O. – Homemakers Clubs. Many will remember Elouise for her love of quilting and cooking especially her apple dumplings and noodles; but most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Elouise was preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer Lee Goff, second husband, Delmer Staats, a son, James Lee Goff and three siblings, Eugene and Lawrence Carroll and Merle Frey.

James was born on March 3, 1949 in Steubenville, OH. He was the son of the late Walter Caldwell and Goldie (Ralph) Caldwell.
James was registered as the #4 EMT and Paramedic in the State of WV servicing Brooke County for five years, then working at Koppers, Follansbee, WV. James owned and operated JR Repair – Heating and Cooling for 36 years in addition to teaching refrigeration at WV Northern Community College. Many will remember James for his love of auto repair, restoring a 1940 Plymouth Coupe and volunteering with his wife, Julie through the Wellsburg 4th of July Committee and various other Wellsburg groups.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Julie (Bell) Caldwell and his eight siblings.
James is survived by his five children, Scott and his wife, Sabrina, Chad and his wife, Stephanie, Megan and her husband, Robert, James and Shawn, 10 grandchildren, a sister, Norma Chivers, three in-laws, Charles Bell and wife, Barbara, Betty Williams and husband, Eugene and Peggy Hrach and husband, Joe and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marjorie was born on June 4, 1938 in Steubenville, OH. She was the daughter of the late Herbert T. Bayless and Virginia Pearl (Keller) Bayless.
Marjorie was a proud graduate of Wellsburg High School where she was in the band. She was a member of the Colliers Way Church of Christ. Marjorie retired after 21 years as a school cook at Brooke High and Bethany Primary Schools. Many will remember Margie for being a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, always roller skating and being a caregiver for so many in need always making them feel loved; but most of all, for her amazing cooking especially the homemade noodles and always taking charge.
In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her dear husband of 65 years, Daniel Edward McGowan, two children, Herbert McGowan and Mark McGowan and two brothers, William “Buck” Bayless Sr. and Herbert Bayless.
Marjorie is survived by her children, Daniel L. McGowan and his wife, Mary Ann, David W. McGowan and his wife, Robin and Tamara “Tammy” J. Santora and her husband, Michael, 10 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, five great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Clarence “Les” McGowan and his wife, Kathy Ann and sister-in-law, Tina McGowan and numerous nieces and nephews.

Samuel was born on July 23, 1934 in Bethany, WV. He was the son of the late G. Adrian Jones and Estelleita (Summerton) Jones.
Samuel retired as a Games Area Manager. He was the Bowling Coach for West Liberty State College retiring after 20 plus years. During his time as coach, Samuel’s team won the 1976 National Champion beating UCLA in San Antonio, TX. Samuel was inducted into the West Liberty State College Hall of Fame for having the most wins as a coach during his time as coach. Many will remember Samuel for his love of bowling and his enjoyment of farming beef cattle.
In addition to his parents, Samuel was preceded in death by his seven brothers, four brothers, George, James “Bud”, Howard “Shorty” and Albert Jones and three stillborn boys.
Samuel is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judith Flora (Kota) Jones of Bethany, WV, three children, Nancy Jones of Pittsburgh, PA, Deborah Farst and her husband, Douglas and Beth Jones, all of Palmyra, PA, three grandchildren, Abigail and Samuel Farst and Dustin Jones and his companion, Stephanie, two great grandchildren, Christopher and Greyson Jones and several nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: William Joseph Kress, 73 of Cape Coral, FL, passed away naturally on October 26 2023 at the VA Hope Hospice, Cape Coral, FL.
Bill was originally from Wellsburg, WV and born on May 19, 1950.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, Albert, who was taken from us far too early.
Bill, as everyone called him, was a dedicated and caring person. He worked diligently at his job at Park Shore Resort for over 10 years with perfect attendance. He humbly served his country in the Navy, on the science vessel U.S.S. Bowditch as an Electronic Technician for five years before receiving an honorable discharge. Before the family moved to Florida, they lived in Oregon for a time when his sons were young and loved bringing his family white water rafting down the rogue river and camping near crater lake. They moved to Florida in 1990. He was a great father and role model anytime he wasn’t driving. He was fun loving and loved to go to rock and roll concerts with his boys.
He is survived by his loving wife, Melissa, a son, Anthony, two granddaughters, Desire and Destiny Higgins, a sister, Margaret Waller and two nephews, Toby and Billy.

Obituary Preview: Helen Ferda Gorby, 88, of Saint Marys, and formerly of Beavercreek, Ohio, died 10:36 A.M. Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community.
Helen was born July 23, 1935, in Wellsburg, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Blas) Ferda.
Helen was a graduate of Wellsburg High School. She was a homemaker and also the office manager for Gorby’s Transmission in Dayton, Ohio. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Dayton. She was an excellent bowler and a master of contract bridge; she was a very shrewd investor and she dearly loved her sons and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her nine siblings, Anna Ferda; Mike Ferda; Mary Evanko; Margaret Ferda; Pauline Triplett; George Ferda; John Ferda; Emma Ferda Bullock and Wilma Levine and a longtime special friend, Don Hohne
Helen is survived by her two sons, Dwain Gorby of New Carlisle and Ronald Gorby of Saint Marys, five grandchildren: Ryan (Madison) Gorby; Aaron (Alexa) Gorby; Tyler Gorby; Matt Gorby; Lindsay (David) Vallo and two great-grandchildren: Griffin and Piper Gorby. She is survived by her step-grandson, Michael (Appollo) Schloss of Milton, Florida; by her sisters: Sue Hanlin of Huntington, West Virginia; Jane Konisky of Winterville, Ohio; by her step-great grandchildren: Shiloh, Hosea, Aggie and Salem.

Obituary Preview: June Evelyn (Martin) Llewellyn, 92, of Canton, GA, formerly of Urbana, IL, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 25, 2023, at The Landings at Canton Hills, Canton, GA.
June was born on April 5, 1931, in Franklin, PA. She was the eldest of four daughters born to the late Edward Herman Martin and Mildred (Rice) Martin.
June was a member and consummate pastor’s wife of the Free Methodist Church, where she was involved in nearly every aspect of church service, including the choir, teaching, and Godly consultant to her late husband, Reverend Dr. Charles “Bud” Llewellyn. When her children were of school age, June returned to school at the University of Illinois to earn her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She subsequently taught 3rd grade at Prairie School in Urbana, IL, for 26 years. June is remembered fondly by those whose lives she touched both in the classroom and in the church.
In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Dr. Charles “Bud” Llewellyn, Jr., grandson, Charles “Chase” Llewellyn, IV, siblings Joyce Perry and Janice Martin, and five sisters-in-law, Charlotte Jackson, Virginia Jones, Mary Francis Snedeker, Dorothy Van Dyke, and Cora Wohnhas.
June is survived by her three children, Robin Snider and her husband, Darrell, of Waleska, GA, Dr. Charles Llewellyn, III, and his wife, Denaze, of Virginia Beach, VA, and Darren Llewellyn and his wife, Karen, of Island Lake, IL, as well as 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. June’s sister, Yvonne Atkinson of Waterford, PA, also survives. Most important to June was that the generations that followed her were all raised in the church where they love and serve the Lord.
A private graveside service will be held at Brooke Cemetery, Wellsburg, West Virginia under the direction and care of the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304)737-3551.

Tom was born on March 17, 1948 in Steubenville, OH. He was the son of the late Andrew Matask and Kathryn (Poretz) Matask.
Tom served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War with the 82nd Airborne Division receiving the Parachute Badge, National Defense Service Medal and the Expert M-14. He retired after 31 years as Line Operator in the Tin Mill at Weirton Steel. He was Catholic and recently attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Wellsburg, WV. Many will remember Tom for his love of the outdoors of hunting, camping and boating; but most of all, his obsession with fishing even to the extreme of being an award-winning fisherman and a member of the Lock Ten Bass Club.
Tom is survived by his wife of 25 years, Diana (Swager) Matask of Wellsburg, WV, three children, Shawneen Matask of Weirton, WV, Jessica Matask of Wellsburg, WV and Andrew Matask and his wife, Amy of Weirton, WV, three grandchildren, Brant Veltri, Marina Bradley and Julia Castellucci, two great grandchildren, Jayden Bradley and Easton Bell, two step children, Benjamin Hedges of Wellsburg, WV and Anitra Ware and her husband, Fred of Clarksburg, WV, step granddaughter, Olivia Ware, and brother, Mark Matask and his wife, Kathy of Minnesota.

Obituary Preview: Keisha Layne, the beloved furry friend, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at her home with her mom and dad at her side after a brief illness.
Keisha was born in 2000 at the time to Kurtis Smith. She was then adopted into her forever home. Keisha loved to cuddle and be around other dogs, especially her furry siblings, Dom, Peddles, Harley and Yoggi. She was a lifesaver always giving love and care when you were sick and not feeling well. Keisha was the one never leaving your side except to run after a tennis ball.
Keisha was a faithful companion to Susan Layne and her nephew, Timmy Layne and Dawn and Paul Keenan Timmy’s parents also surviving.
Keisha will be missed forever until her family meets her at Rainbow Bridge to cross together to the meadows of Heaven where they will live forever as family.

In addition to his mother, Bernard was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette Dorena (Hartman) Hunt and a son, Brad Mack Hunt.
In addition to his father, Bernard is survived by his three children, Cassie Hunt of Wellsburg, Eric Hunt and his fiancé, Lindsey Blake of Florida, Shelly Hunt Barnhart and her husband, Rodney of Steubenville, OH, 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, five siblings, Tina Waterhouse and her husband, Bruce, Tammy Gear, Sandy Miller and her husband, Dean, Carolin Roxby, and James Hunt and his companion, Michelle and several nieces and nephews. Bill was a member of the Scottish Rite , Valley of Columbus, Grand Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons, Worthington, OH, and Aladdin Temple - A.A.O.N.M.S. Of Columbus, OH. He was also a former member of the First Baptist Church of Wellsburg.
Bill graduated from West Liberty University where he was awarded as the most distinguished student. Many will remember Bill for his love of the Pittsburgh Pirates as well as the Steelers. He was a ten year participant in the Pirates Fantasy camp.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, James W. DeMaria of Follansbee.
Bill is survived by his three children, Michael Bartley and his wife, Mary Beth, Jennifer Baker and her husband, Dr. Paul, and Stephen Bartley, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She worked many years at Wheeling Stamping Company, Wesbanco and Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Credit Union in clerical administrative work. Sheila was a former member of Beech Bottom Community Christian Church. Many will remember Sheila for her love of sewing, crafting and reading; but most of all, she also took great joy in visiting her grandchildren in Tennessee and Virginia.
In addition to her parents, Sheila was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Elwood Lazear, two brothers, Carl and George Lewis, and a brother-in-law, Gary Gambuti.

Mark retired after 20 years of service to the Brooke County Board of Education as a Custodian. Many will remember Mark for always telling jokes and making people laugh, lending a helping hand to friends and spending time with family and friends; but most of all, he was a loving son, father and brother.
In addition to his father, Mark was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert McGowan.

Obituary Preview: Robert “Bob” Theodore Mizok, 86, of Wellsburg, WV sadly left us on Sept. 4. 2023 following a long battle with illness. While his wife and children loved to tease him about his stubbornness, this was far exceeded by his love for his family. Bob deeply loved his wife of 56 years, Carolyn, and would say he would have been lost without her. He enjoyed telling people that he first saw his wife at a bus stop and knew she was the person he wanted to marry.
He always said that the most important life goals he had were to get married and have children. He enjoyed teaching his children “real and useful” life skills, such as home and car maintenance, wood working, and also furniture repair and preservation, the profession in which he was employed for 53 years. Bob loved transporting his children to and from their various activities and watching them succeed. He and Carol were their children’s biggest supporters and would be the ones cheering the loudest for them. Bob also loved his grandchildren and enjoyed regaling them with bits of history and trivia that he learned. He loved spending time with his family, baking, clapping and dancing to polka music, learning and sharing about history and trivia, and debating with others, especially when he could take an opposing point of view. He was a Christian and enjoyed debating his thoughts about politics, Christianity, and religion.
Bob is survived by his wife, Carolyn Vincent (Yost) Mizok, his four children, Roberta J. (Robert) Fedoush, Rhonda J. (Jeremy) Taylor, Robert J. (Jennifer) Mizok, and Richard J. (Tina) Mizok, five grandchildren, Jonathon (Sarah) Fedoush, Benjamin Fedoush, Ethan Crabtree, Sarah Taylor, and Aiden Mizok, two siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Gabriel Taylor, parents Paul and Margaret (Straka) Mizok, in laws Phyllis (Miller) and Donald Coen Sr., and three siblings.
