Mrs. Odessa C. Troy was born on December 13, 1947 in Lumberton, NC to the late Judson and Aggie Carmicheal. She transitioned from labor to reward on April 1, 2022 at Harbor View Rest Home after completing her 74 year journey.
Odessa attended Booker T. Washington High School and graduated in 1965. On July 3rd, 1966 Odessa married the love of her life Mr. James (Jimmy) Troy to this union two children were born. Later, she began working as a cook at Carolina Manor and Southeastern Regional Medical Center for 26 years. She discovered her love for cooking during this time and was well known for her famous pound cakes and banana pudding. She also enjoyed playing cards and spending endless time with all of her babies. Odessa was an amazing mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved and cherished all of her children and grandchildren, but her great-grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. Odessa was a woman who never held her tongue and told you how it was and what it was going to be. Though a sharp tongue, she was an all around great person that never met a stranger.
Odessa is preceded in death by her husband Mr. Jimmy Troy, eight sisters and Five brothers. Odessa leaves to cherish her found memories: her children, Ravin Singletary of Lumberton, NC and Deveau Troy of Bladenboro, NC; one brother, Judson Carmicheal Jr. (Debra) of Lumberton, NC; one sister, Betty McDougal of Philadelphia, PA; six grandchildren, Tamika (Lynn) Mcdonald of Orrum, NC, Stephanie Faulkner (Annie) of Lumberton, NC, Dakea Barnes (Jimmy) of Pembroke, NC, Katrina Freeman of the home and Dezveau Troy of Bladenboro, NC, DayQuan Kirksey of Belleville, NC; one special granddaughter, Ariyanna Pratt of Lumberton, NC; eight great-grandchildren, Zykia, Marquel, JaNasia, Raegan, AZarrion, Jacob, Angel, and KaLonii; a host of brothers in-laws and sister in-laws, And a special Son In-Law Tyrone Singletary and nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members that she loved dearly. Anthony loved fresh kicks and great smelling cologne, it would be hard to find him without both.

Victory received her education from the Public Schools of Robeson County, and was a member of the ROTC Program. She graduated from Lumberton High School in 2006. She also attended Robeson Community College.
She was born and raised as a member of Missionary Tabernacle United Holy Church where she served faithfully in the YPHA/Sunday School Department, Usher Department, Praise and Worship Ministry, Sunshine Band and all other choirs.
She became a member of the Youth Organization Program, and received her first job through the program. She later worked at Pleasant Pizza and Smithfield Packaging.
Victory was well known and loved by many. She had a loving and giving spirit, and was not a respecter of persons. She loved to laugh and make others laugh. She was very protective of her friends and family.
She was proceeded in death by her father, her maternal grandparents Ernestine McCoy Sykes and Johnny Sykes; her paternal grandmother Flora Jane Whitted; an aunt whom she loved dearly Mary Linda P. McMillan. She was also preceded in death by her extended Grandmother and Grandfather the late James and Evelyn Deloris Pipkin. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories, her mother Seressa Lee Whitted; two sisters, Jacrettia LaRachel Whitted and Shanece Rauchelle Whitted; an uncle Rev. James (Linda) Whitted; an aunt Glenda (Raymond) Scott; three cousins whom she considered to be aunts and uncle, Marla McCoy, LaRhonda Canady, and Samuel McCoy; her godmother and cousin Nancy L. Blue; her godfather Elder Donald E. William Owen Floyd Jr., lovingly known as Moon Jr, was born September 21, 1969 in Robeson County to Mr. William Floyd Sr and Mrs Sylvia Hill Floyd. He transitioned from this life on September 8, 2021 at Pembroke Center.
Moon Jr. graduated from Lumberton Senior High School. At a early age he was active in the youth department at St. Marys, where he sung on the Wings of Faith Choir. He worked at Converse with his father, uncle and aunt until closing. He was employed at Steven Roberts bakery until his health failed.
Moon Jr enjoyed working on cars (family mechanic), listing to music and socializing with family and friends. Everyone knows his favorite attire was long white t-shirts and jeans. Cleo graduated from J.H. Hayswood High School in Lumberton, NC in 1949. She later met and married the love of her life, the late Mr. Dennis Burns Jr. To this union nine children were born: Linwood, Glenda, Gloria, Billy Ray, Charles Lee, Patricia, Denise, Terry and Ervin.
She later found Christ and became a devoted member of Bethany Presbyterian Church for many years until her health failed.
Cleo started her career as a stay at home mother. After a few years, Cleo sought out a job at Lumberton Poultry Plant. A few years later, she transitioned work fields and began working for Osterneck Industries; there, she made sandbags for the U.S Army. The fruits of her labor came into fruition and she was later able to retire from there.
Cleos passion was music! She loved it and was known for “rocking the piano” with the blues! She also loved dancing and would tell you about the many dance contests she won in her earlier years. Cleo had a heart of gold and was also a caregiver for many of her family members. She would give the shirt off of her back if you needed it and would not think twice about doing so.
Cleo is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Burns Jr., her parents, Ervin and Virginia Love, a special uncle, Roosevelt Mitchell, and her daughter in law, Brenda Burns. Cleo leaves to cherish her precious memories: her children, Linwood Burns, Glenda Burns, Gloria Phillips (Emanuel), Billy Ray Burns, Charles Burns, Patricia Burns-Satterwhite, Denise Jones (Ronald), Terry Burns, and Ervin Burns; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Obituary Preview: Bobby Linwood McKoy, Jr, affectionately known as P-Funk, was born to Bobbie Linwood McKoy, Sr and Patricia Smith Borders on May 15, 1973 in Lumberton, NC. Bobby was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents,Milton Mack McKoy and Nina Jane McKoyand his maternal grandparents.
Bobby graduated from Lumberton Senior High School in 1991. He was known by his classmates as a great athlete, dancer, and someone who made them laugh. He especially loved playing basketball and breakdancing. He also had a keen ear for music and making beats. Many will remember him for his skills on the court at “the Rec”, or for being the “best breakdancer in Caldwell County.” As a natural people person, Bobby went on to make his career in sales. With over twenty years of sales experience, his customers often became life-long friends. Most of his career was spent at Peterson Toyota of Lumberton where his co-workers were like family.
Bobby knew the Lord. He gave his life to Christ and became a member of Antioch Baptist Church of Proctorville, NC. He loved to spend time studying the Bible and would share the things God would reveal to him with anyone who would listen. Bobby was a proud son, father, grandfather and brother. He loved all of his family and friends very dearly.
