Jim led a life defined by service, faith, and love. He proudly served his country aboard the USS Saratoga CV 60 from 1954 to 1962 as a member of the US Navy, demonstrating unwavering dedication and bravery.

After his military service, Jim settled in Jacksonville, FL, where he became a pillar of his community. He shared his faith as a Sunday School teacher, imparting wisdom and kindness to all who knew him. As a Deacon, he offered guidance and support, exemplifying the values he held dear.

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Oma Jean. He is survived by his son, James Matthew Edwards (Melissa), whom he deeply loved and of whom he was incredibly proud.

In the words of John Gillespie Magee, Jr., " He slipped the surly bonds of earth... reached out a hand and touched the face of God." Jim's spirit now soars among the heavens, leaving behind cherished memories and an enduring legacy of love and service.

A graveside service to honor Jim's life will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Jim will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jimmy Milton Wright - August 19, 1944 - April 14, 2024

Obituary Preview: Jimmy Milton Wright, of Jacksonville, FL, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 14, 2024. He was 79.

Jimmy was born to Gladys and Albert Wright on August 19, 1944, in Jacksonville, FL. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gloria, four children, Albert (Joy), Timmy, Amanda (Tom), and Josh, and seven grandchildren: Inoli, Golanv, Wohali, Maggie, Nathan, Sarah, and Emma. Jimmy is also survived by sisters Bobbie (Bob), Elsie, and Teresa. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Gladys, and sisters Linda and Flora.

Jimmy was a carman for Seaboard Coast Line for 26 years. He spent his days repairing railroad cars and traveling to various locations in Florida and Georgia to work derailments. Jimmy also worked repairing Kirby vacuum cleaners as a side job.

Jimmy enjoyed working with his hands. He spent many hours in his workshop creating items out of wood and metal such as lanterns, furniture, and knives. Jimmy also enjoyed drawing and tending his very large vegetable garden. Jimmy was a faithful servant as a deacon in his church for many years.

Jimmy was very proud of his Cherokee heritage, often making yearly trips to local Native American gatherings as well as putting on his full regalia for school kids and scout troops. His Cherokee ID card was the most worn of all he had in his wallet.

Jimmy loved his wife dearly, all his sisters as the older brother, and his children. Jimmy enjoyed every moment he could spend with his grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Jimmy on May 4, 2024, at Cedar Bay Funeral Home at 405 New Berlin Road. The family welcomes family and friends for visitation at 10 am with the service starting at 11 am.

Hugh Robert Young - September 21, 1940 - April 11, 2024

Obituary Preview: Hugh R. Young, age 83, passed away on April 11, 2024. Hugh was born in Jacksonville, Florida on September 21, 1940, to the parents of Alvis Oliver and Grace Nunn Young. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister (Doris Hayes) and brothers (Rex, Clay, Howard, and Gary). He is survived by his wife (Dottie Young of 61 years), his children [Gary Young and Kristy (Dominick) Iuliano] and three grandchildren (Gabrielle and Chloe Iuliano and Liam Young), and his brother Ray Young. Hugh joined the US Army in 1958 and served in the 510th Engineer Company. He later joined the US Army Reserve to complete his service. In 1968, he joined the Duval County Road Patrol and served there until the City of Jacksonville was consolidated, where he transferred to the Jacksonville Sherriff’s Office. In 2003, Hugh retired from law enforcement after serving 35 years as a patrolman and later as a detective in the fugitive/warrant unit. Hugh also volunteered his time as a baseball coach and mentor to his team of teenagers over the years. He provided guidance and support to help many of those who were not fortunate enough to have solid family support or the basic equipment to participate and play the game. He always had a sense of humor and would make the best of the situation, while rarely offering a complaint. After retirement, Hugh took on a new role as an " Official Papa", according to his three grandchildren and family. He traded his police cruiser for a golf cart and “patrolled” the neighborhood. He continued to enjoy quality time with his family and friends, including joking with his dry sense of humor, until his passing. Officer Young will be cremated. A family Memorial Service will be held on May 9, 2024, at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at 9:30 am. He will be buried with Military and Police Honors. Cedar Bay Funeral Home (Jack Blackburn) is making funeral services and arrangements.

She is survived by her husband Harry Whitten Jr, Son Darin Kirksey (Angel) Daughter Karen Lamb (Jeff) Bonus children Peanut Whitten (Amanda) Donna Coon (Jeff) Jeremy Whitten (Ashley), sister, Marie Wolf (Billy) and brother, Ronald Crews, and her grandchildren Darin II, Jerry, Jey (Tiffany) Jessi (Ben) Austin (Kristen) Bryson, Katelyn, Kloe, Hal, Grant, Drayden, Diana, Jessica, Jesse, and Jake.

Also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, April 15, at North Jacksonville Baptist Church where she faithfully served the lord for over 40 years. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Jacksonville. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday starting at 12 pm.

She was born to the late Reva Jean Anderson in West Virginia on January 3rd, 1958. Known for her big smile and an even bigger heart, Virgie will be missed by all who knew her. The family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life, not the sadness of her passing.

She is survived by her three sons: Travis Carter (Katlynn), Chris Carter (Tiffany), and Brandon Carter (Teri) as well as her daughter, Wendy Cane. She is also survived by her many grandchildren and other loving family members: Makenlee, Easton, Sophia, Lacey, Lavada, Brandon Jr, Harper, Reva, Skylar, Cheyenne, Natalie, and Jimmy (Angie). Virgie was predeceased by her loving husband, Jimmy Lloyd, mother, Reva Anderson, and daughter, Candice Cane who we know welcomed her at heaven's gates as she made the journey home.

Virgie was a loving mother to many, even if not by blood, and always took anyone in who needed a place to go. She devoted the majority of her life to living in the ball fields with her boys and trying to keep them out of trouble as they grew older. She enjoyed photography in her younger days, and art as well. Sitting on her property enjoying time with friends and family was her favorite thing to do on any day of the week. Virgie was immensely proud of all her children, no matter what. She left behind a lasting impression on anyone she crossed paths with. We will love and miss you always Mom.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 3 pm in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, Florida, 32218 with family officiating.

John was born on December 8th,1959, to John and Viola (Burgdorf) Kilna in St. Johns, Antigua, West Indies. He lived in Gordon, AL for the past 10 years and was a member of the Pilgrims Rest Christian Center.

After attending Fletcher High School, John enlisted in the United States Army and served as a Military Police Officer. After completing his commitment, he returned to Jacksonville, FL, where he met Amberly. John and Amberly spent their days fishing, boating, and gardening and were deeply devoted to each other. He was a loving husband, brother, and friend and will be dearly missed by all.

John is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Vida; and his wife, Amberly. He is survived by his sisters, Therese Kilna-Conrad and Margaret (Geoff) Gibson; brother, Gordon (Robin) Kilna; numerous nieces; nephews; grandnieces; and grandnephews.

Coleman Campbell. Gayle was of Catholic faith, graduated from Georgia Southern University and she served in the US Coast Guard. Gayle loved her family, fur babies, many friends, helping those in need, crabbing, fishing, and "tinkering" on her car.

Gayle was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother Doug Coleman, brother-in-law, Terry Morris, and grand-niece, Kelsey.

Gayle is survived by a sister, Johnnie Ann Morris; Three brothers, Robert Coleman (Carla), John Coleman (Kristin), Chuck Couture (Lisa), and seven nieces & nephews. She had many close friends including a special friend, Vondolyn “V" Wright-Morgan, who along with her brother Robert held Gayle's hand until she took her last breath.

Her family would like to thank the HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital ICU Doctors and Nurses who tenderly cared for her during her stay and transition.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, located at 405 New Berlin Road, on Friday, May 3 at 1 pm. The family will receive friends at noon at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:30 pm.

Joseph Gerald Cesario - March 16, 1940 - March 28, 2024

Obituary Preview: Joseph Gerald Cesario was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 16, 1940, the first child of Victor and Phyllis Cesario. Joe grew up in a large close-knit extended family in an Italian neighborhood on the Southside of Chicago. He attended Archbishop Weber High School where he lettered in football. Joe then joined the U.S. Army and while stationed in Felicity, Ohio met his wife of 60 years, Regina (née Weber). After leaving the military Joe and Regina made their home and raised their three children in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. Joe was a member of St. Zachary Parish and was enthusiastically involved in parish activities from organizing and cooking the annual Spaghetti Dinner to producing and performing musical and comedy acts for the annual parish vaudeville-style showcase fundraiser “Port of Call.” Joe was an Industrial Trainer for General Electric for 38 years, living and working in Chicago, Kansas City, and finally Louisville. Joe and Regina then retired to St. Augustine, Florida. He is preceded in passing by his wife Regina A. Cesario, his parents, parents-in-law Alfred and Frances Weber, and sisters-in-law Margaret (Jerry) St. Clair, and Joan (Richard) Sheets. Joe is survived by his three children, Rosemary Cesario (Allan Towell) of Mount Laguna, California, Victor Cesario of the world, and Regina Shankland (John) of Portland, Oregon, daughter-in-law Heather Smith of Carbondale, Illinois, and by his three grandchildren, Carmella Cesario, Chloe Shankland, and Avery Shankland. He is lovingly remembered by his siblings, Lydia Cesario of Stuart, Florida, and Victor Cesario Jr. of Aliso Viejo, California, and his in-laws Loretta (Tom) Osborne, Rosemary (Bill) Evans, Marilyn (Paul) Beumi, Virginia (Larry) Holton, John (Cindy) Weber, Sharon (Robert) Mills. Interment is at Jacksonville National Cemetery on July 1st, 2024 at 11 am.

Robert Jerry Mullaly - December 23, 1954 - March 27, 2024

Obituary Preview: Robert Jerry Mullaly, age 69, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. He was born December 23, 1954, to the late Herbert A. Mullaly Sr. & Laverne (Baxley) Mullaly in Jacksonville, FL. From the beginning of his life the hand of the Lord was upon him and carried him through many trials and experiences. He often said, as a boy he couldn’t even curse if he tried. At the age of 14 he gave his life to the Lord, at the age of 15 he met the love of his life Janis (New) Mullaly. While he was praying for her to come to know Jesus he received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Shortly after, the Lord called him into ministry. At the age of 16, he married his love and started working in ministry at Garden City Church of God as Sunday School Superintendent. From 1971 – 1984 he served in different churches, preaching, teaching, leading, and doing anything he could to serve in ministry. In 1984, he received a call that a church needed a pastor, he and his father-in-law, Bennie New, went to the church, prayed over it, and asked for God’s direction. In that season of life, the Lord placed Robert Mullaly as pastor of Calvary Temple Church of God, where he served faithfully for 39.5 years. If there were one word to describe him, it would be restorer. If he wasn’t fully involved in restoring people for the kingdom of God, he was spending his spare time restoring homes and lives for many people around Jacksonville and North Florida. He started his own Contracting business in 1994 and never stopped striving to do all he could for his community and city. Through that he cultivated many relationships, staying true and steadfast to who he was in Christ. If he wasn’t preaching, teaching, restoring, or working, then you would find him calling his nephews, nieces, and family to make sure they were doing well. He always felt that family was the most important thing. He did all he could to be a father, brother, uncle, leader, and any other role that was needed for ALL of his family far and wide.

Robert Jerry Mullaly was preceded in death by his Wife, Janis New Mullaly; Father, Herbert A. Mullaly Sr.; Mother, Laverne Mullaly; Brother, Herbert A. Mullaly Jr.; Sister, Martha Mullaly Conger and Brother, Edward D Mullaly Sr.   Survivors include his daughters, Charity Mullaly and Robin Mullaly; a host of nephews & nieces (many of whom he called his Sons and Daughters to everyone he met).

Visitation will be held at the Marietta Church of God, 8076 Ramona Blvd. W., Jacksonville, FL 32221 on Monday, April 1, 2024, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Ronnie Jarman officiating.  Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park @ 3 p.m. Gathering of friends and family will take place at Garden City Church of God following all services located at 10765 Lem Turner RD, Jacksonville, FL.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Belinda Wright; sisters, Candy Marie and Katisha Lynn Wright, Papa Tommy, Papa Red, Grandma Marylou, Uncle Mike, Aunt Mecie, Uncle Johnny and cousin, Millie Faye.

Wedge loved the outdoors and was always working in the yard or fishing in his secret spots. Wedge never met a stranger and would have done anything to help anyone. He will be dearly missed by many here on Earth, but he is now at peace with his mother and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 30th, 2024, at noon at Cedar Bay Funeral Home on New Berlin Road with Pastor Micah Strickland officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Alma Marie Spaulding-Caldwell - October 09, 1925 - March 21, 2024

Obituary Preview: Alma Marie Caldwell of Callahan, FL passed away on March 21, 2024, at the age of 98.

She was married to the late Harrie Caldwell of Callahan, Fl.  Alma moved from the mountains of West Virginia with her family to Jacksonville at the young age of 20.  After several years of “city life,” they migrated to Nassau County, FL to slow down.

Alma is survived by two sons: Elba H. Caldwell, of Callahan and Dewey P. Caldwell (Mary), of Callahan.  One granddaughter, Firefighter Shelby Caldwell of Gainesville, one daughter of love Sheryl Caldwell, and two brothers Fred Spaulding (Silvia) and Bobby Spaulding (Gloria) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Alma enjoyed “going”; it didn’t matter where you went,  she wanted to “ride”.  She loved a good cheeseburger with Krystal’s being her favorite and never turned down dessert.

Alma was immensely proud of her family, told everyone she met about her granddaughter Shelby, and could remember more than the average person until the time was no longer her friend.   Even As her health declined; she never once thought it was because of her age. Doctors and nurses alike often remarked: “There’s nothing against her but time.”

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024., at 12 PM in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, with chaplain Jackie Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Jacksonville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday starting at 11 am.

Born and raised in Jacksonville , Florida, she was the daughter of Rayford and Clara Busy ,and was second to youngest of five children growing up. She graduated with a high school diploma from Metcalf County High in Edmonton, Kentucky.

She was a jack of all trades and could make anything work, anyone laugh, and could face any situation with a fierce fight. She lived most of her life as a caregiver, but did many other things, as well. She was the proud owner of her own business, Mermaid Detailing, as well as a  waitress for many years; but the hat she wore and title she carried through it all was MOM. She was a mom to so many, not just the ones that were hers. She was the neighborhood hang out, the safe spot away from home , the fight you didn’t know you needed to fight, and her kind heart and warm spirit and wrestling matches will be missed by so many.

She is survived by daughters (2) Scyleesa Roch and Lauren Tecson Spaulding (Wilter), grandchildren Nataleigh, Aralynn, Warren, Parker and Kylo, sisters Laura Hoovler and Cathy Chaney (Terry), her partner and friend Mike Grosholtz and many nieces and nephews and family and friends.

She was predeceased by her mother and father Rayford and Clara Busby, older brothers Keith and Roger Busby, and her sweet son Dalton Maceda.

The funeral services will be on March 28th at 6pm there will be a viewing/visitation at 5pm until services begins held at cedar bay funeral home.

Sandra, better known to everyone as Sandi with an “i”, was born on May 11th, 1966 to parents Richard and Kathleen Geiger. The date of her birth always falls during Nurse’s week and Mother’s Day week every year, two things Sandi was the most passionate about. She had the gift of healing and she used it selflessly to help others. The mother of 3 amazing gentlemen, she also played surrogate mother to many because her heart was incomparably generous. She traveled the world and was an Army Vet, but she kept her roots strong in Florida. Here, she raised her children with her partner in love and husband, Steve, of 35 years. She is recently preceded in death by her father-in-law, David, and her niece, Kara, both of whom are no doubt walking with her teasing each other as they go along. She will live on through her husband, Steve; her 3 sons: Richard Joseph (Amber), Steven James (Alyssa), and Zachary Edward; her 4 grandchildren: Aubrey Raelynn, Eleanor Jean, Lillian Nova, and Tyberious James; and the countless others she claimed as her own. She is also survived by her parents Richard and Kathleen Geiger, her sister Charlene (Craig), her nieces: Rochelle, Kimberly, Crystal, and Jessica and their families; her wonderful mother-in-law Judy; and her siblings-in-law, Jo Anne and Scott and their families. She was compassionate and kind, but she also captained her ship with an iron fist. She touched many lives and made an impact wherever she went. Her time with us was too short but if you knew Sandi, you know she would never want us to stay in mourning. So as we celebrate her life, we don’t say goodbye. Howard Wilson, a beloved husband, dad, grandfather great grandfather, and friend went to be with our Lord, peacefully in his sleep on March 10, 2024.  He was 91 years old. Born on May 28, 1932, in Manhattan, New York.  He moved to Florida at age 8.  Howard was a kind, generous, wise, and God-loving man. He touched the lives of many with his fun and loving nature. Throughout his life, Howard was hard-working and dedicated to his family and friends. We will all cherish the wonderful memories we made together.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Jane Wilson.  His children Chip (MaryJo), Brandt (Shirleen), and Janane (Pat) McQueen.  His 8 grandchildren, Brittany (Doug), Erin (John), Rebekka (Ben), Michael(Danielle), Andrew (Vale), Wil(Bridget), Sean, MaryAnn. And his seven great-grandchildren, Emmett, Amalia, Lana, Crue, Ellie, Timmy, and Noah. Two brothers, Richard (Dolores), Ronnie, and sister-in-law, Lucille, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. And his Buddy, a sweet, lovable chunk of a Chihuahua.

He was preceded to heaven by his parents, Earl and Hannah Wilson, his two brothers, Fred and Art,  his sister, Helen, and his sister-in-law, Gail. Howard may have left this world and joined his heavenly father, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. If you knew him, you loved him!

A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024,  at 11 am at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Rd., Jacksonville, FL.  Followed by the graveside service at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Fl., at 1 pm where friends and family will celebrate the life Howard lived and share in his memories.

Obituary Preview: Jolene Agnes Bray (83) followed God’s plan and was called home to Him on March 9, 2024.  She was born on July 30, 1940, in Highland, IL to the late Ralph and Norma (nee Bellm) Seger. She raised her four children in Granite City, IL before moving to Jacksonville, FL in 1981. Jolene married her loving husband Francis (Frank) Bray on April 7, 1990.

She worked as an Executive Secretary for Brunswick Corporation in Illinois until she moved to Florida, where she worked for many years in the gift shop at Baptist Hospital.  Her favorite pastimes included playing cards and bingo.  A lifelong fan of all sports from NASCAR to softball, you could often find Jolene rooting for the St. Louis Blues, St. Louis Cardinals, or Jacksonville Jaguars, though the thrill of any playoff game could never compete with the joy and fulfillment she felt from being a wife, mother, grandma, and Gigi.

Jolene will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Frank; daughters, Barbara Miller (Lee Tucker), Patrice (Mark) Singletary, Jacklyn Ray, and Dawn (Jim) Myers; daughter-in-law, Lori Wood (Steve Pruitt); grandchildren, Renee Zink, Bobby Zink, Teri Miller, Katelyn (Cody) Powell, Kyle (Jessica) Singletary, Michael (Michelle) Singletary, Matthew (Allison) Singletary, Heather (Jordan) James, Brianna Ray, Caroline Myers, and Marion Myers, and great-grandchildren, Harlee and Anabelle Zink, Athena, Vaeda, Pryce, Charlotte, Ella, and Ruby Singletary, Claire Gilley, and Keegan, Parker, Nora, and Leitha James.

Eddie was the best husband, father, papa, and mechanic anyone could ask for.
