Serving as pallbearers will be Corey Grimmett, Kenneth “KJ” Grimmett, Jr., LJ Riportella, Bryan Colbert, Roy Gunn, Jr., Charles Hunter, Allen Hunter, Billy Jo Hunter, LeRoy Hunter, Bill Niffen and Kevin Lipp. Helen, 65, passed away Saturday evening, April 27, 2024 at SSM St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Born October 23, 1958 in Clarksville, MO she was the daughter of Roy Lee and Helen Blanche Day Colbert. Helen was united in marriage on June 10, 1975 in Clarksville to William Leon Gunn. This union was blessed with four children: Regina Louise, Melissa Ann, Lisa Marie and Roy William. Helen worked for many years serving customers in restaurants and in auto parts stores. Her most cherished “job” was caring for her family, including following her grandson, Roy, Jr. to his events. Helen enjoyed Bingo!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Helen Colbert; five siblings: William Colbert, Raymond Colbert, Linda Hudson, Rosemary Howard and Johnny Colbert; two in-laws: Karen Colbert and John Buchanan; two daughters: Melissa Ann Gunn as an infant and Lisa Marie Gunn; and her beloved husband, Bill Gunn, who died on April 9, 2023.
Survivors include two children: Regina Gunn and Roy Gunn, both of Elsberry; one grandson, Roy Gunn, Jr.; and four step-grandchildren: Lexus and Jacob Phipps and Ziek and Grace Riportella. Helen also leaves three siblings: Bobby Colbert of Hawthorne, NV, Sandi Buchanan of Frankford, MO and Michael Colbert and his wife, Judy, of Clarksville, MO; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home. Elsie, 91, passed away Tuesday night, April 23, 2024 at her home. Born April 10, 1933 in St. Charles, MO, she was the daughter of Alvin and Edna Ostmann Amrein. Elsie was one of the last two surviving members of the 1951 graduating class of St. Charles High School. She was united in marriage on February 20, 1954 in St. Charles to Robert Joseph “Bob” Schulte. This union was blessed with four children: Thomas, Todd, Teresa and Trudi. Elsie was a member of the Red Hat Society and of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Edna Amrein; one brother, Alvin Amrein; her infant sister, Ruth; and her beloved husband of 54 years, Bob Schulte, who died on November 14, 2008.
Survivors include her children: Thomas Schulte and his significant other, Carole, of Winfield, MO, Todd Schulte and his wife, Rhonda, of Winfield, Teresa Moreland and her husband, Ed, of Fredericktown, MO and Trudi Wilmoth and her husband, Steve, of O’Fallon, MO; seven grandchildren: Jeremy and Michael Moreland, Jill Sasfai, Scott Wilmoth, and Eric, Kyle and Alex Schulte; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Elsie also leaves other relatives and friends.

Laurie, 67, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital in St. Peters, MO. Born July 8, 1956 in St. Charles, MO, she was the daughter of Frank Lee and Arline Lucretia Axetell Lauritzen. Laurie was a 1974 graduate of Winfield High School. She worked as a production technician for MEMC, retiring in 2014 after 40 years. Laurie was united in marriage in 2016 in St. Charles to James C. Maue.
Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Arline Lauritzen. Survivors include her beloved husband, Jim Maue of O’Fallon. Laurie also leaves two grandchildren: Jaxson and Aubree Maue; one brother, John Lauritzen of Old Monroe, MO; four sisters: Carolyn Lee Furman and her husband, Stephen, of Girard, IL, Gwen M. Souza and her husband, Michael, of Old Monroe, Kristine Giesler of St. Peters, MO and Leslie Tiller of Old Monroe; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Laurie loved spending time at the river. She enjoyed fishing, boating, wave running or just watching the water go by. She had many talents, which included playing several different instruments and possessed a lovely voice. There was not a baby born into her family that was not blessed with her crocheted baby blankets. Laurie was an animal lover. Large dogs and many cats had good lives under her care. She was also famous for spontaneous dancing no matter the location.

Pastor Lance Long of First Baptist Church of Crestwood, MO and Rev. Laura Taylor of Elsberry United Methodist Church, will officiate with inurnment in the Elsberry City Cemetery.
Kathy was born January 16, 1955 in Louisiana, MO, the daughter of Thomas Gibson and Melba Kathryn Kelly Crank. She passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. She was 69 years old. Kathy attended school in Elsberry, graduating with the class of 1973. She attended Truman State in Kirksville, MO and graduated in 1977 with an education degree. Kathy first taught in Bowling Green, MO and Pike-Lincoln County Co-op for special children from the Clopton and Winfield school districts. She then began teaching in the Elsberry School District, retiring in 2006. Kathy continued as a substitute teacher until 2022. During the summers, Kathy worked at Bank of Lincoln County for many years. She was an avid reader, loved animals and worked on many puzzles during the winter months. Kathy was a longtime member of the Elsberry United Methodist Church.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Melba Crank; her brother, Gary Thomas Crank; her step-father, Ralph “Trax” Galloway; and her step-sister, Diane Galloway.
Kathy is survived by her step-sister, Nena Galloway Potts and her husband, Keith, of Rogersville, MO; her many cousins; and Mindy Reed, her life-long friend. Kathy will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her family, many friends, and the students she lovingly taught.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Memorial Services at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Elsberry United Methodist Church. Robert, 83, passed away Saturday evening, April 20, 2024 at Sunterra Springs in Dardenne Prairie, MO . Born July 28, 1940 in the Apex Community near Elsberry, he was the son of Trevey K. and Irene Bernice Johnson Turnbull. Robert was united in marriage on June 20, 1970 in Foley, MO to Karen Lynn Crenshaw. Robert worked as a Teamster for Pace Construction, retiring on August 1, 2003. He was a life member of the NRA, National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association and Teamsters Local #682.
Bob Robert, as he was affectionately called, was an avid outdoorsman. He liked to hunt, loved to fish and was always ready in the spring to look for mushrooms.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Trevey and Irene Turnbull; two brothers: Richard “Dick” Turnbull and Jack Turnbull; and one sister, Judy Mills.
Survivors include his beloved wife of nearly 54 years, Karen Turnbull of Foley; one special “daughter” Belinda Farris-Laws of O’Fallon, MO; one sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Laird of Elsberry; one sister-in-law, Barbara Turnbull of Troy, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marcie was a graduate of Winfield High School and received her Associate Degree from St .Charles Community College. Marcie also attended Vatterott College for a Medical Assistant Degree. She worked in the office at True Manufacturing. Marcie enjoyed fishing.
Marcie was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ronald Williams; and her son, Kayden LaBanca, who was stillborn on May 28, 2007.

Lois worked as a LPN for Lincoln County Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Olney Methodist Church. Lois was a member of Silex Lions Club. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, greenhouses, crafts, craft shows, making jellies and breads. Lois loved listening to Prince, Rod Stewart and Elton John.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Ruby Stonebarger; two brothers: James R. Stonebarger and Gilbert Stonebarger; one sister, Phyllis K. Stonebarger; and her beloved husband, Charles Baker, Jr., who died March 18, 2006.
Survivors include three children: Delia D. Marshall and her husband, Charles, of Bowling Green, MO, Kristina I. Murray and her husband, Robert Resto, of Wentzville, MO, and Douglas A. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Stephen Spies in 1998 and Rick Spies in 2018; and one sister, Rebecca Timms in 2020.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Virginia Spies of Elsberry; their children: Michael Spies and his wife, Jodie, of Elsberry, Gina Spies of Troy, MO and Mikka Turnbull and her husband, Bradley, also of Troy; and two grandchildren: Melanie “Skyler” and Alexander. Joline, 85, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024 at St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake Saint Louis, MO. Born October 31, 1938 at home in Troy, MO, she was the daughter of Joseph Raymond “Tip” and Ruth Ann Martin Schieffer. She was the oldest of eleven children, with seven brothers and three sisters. Joline was a graduate of Troy High School. She worked for several years as a seamstress at the Troy Garment Factory. Joline was united in marriage on August 8, 1964 at Sacred Heart Church in Troy to Roman Hubert Mennemeyer. This union was blessed with three children: Michelle Sue, John Joseph and Robert “Bob” Edward. She worked for many years as the “Lunch Lady” for the Winfield Middle School. Joline loved flowers and over the years had a huge vegetable garden. She enjoyed baking, cooking, reading and cross stitch. When the kids were young, she served as a 4-H Leader for ten years, while she and Roman taught many of the project segments. Joline especially enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe, where she served on the Picnic Committee and the Ladies’ Sodality entertainment committee.
Joline was preceded in death by her parents, Joe “Tip” and Ruth Schieffer; three brothers: Ray Schieffer and his wife, Cindy, David Schieffer and his wife, Connie, and Larry Schieffer; one sister, Ann Silverberg; one son, Bob Mennemeyer on June 23, 1996; and her beloved husband of 30 years, Roman Mennemeyer, who died on February 16, 1995.
Survivors include one daughter, Michelle Wilmes and her husband, Dale, of Troy; one son, John Mennemeyer and his wife, Shirley, of Moscow Mills, MO; seven grandchildren: Michael, Brittany, Christina, Tyler, Ashley, Adam and Jacob; and eight great-grandchildren. Rick, 65, passed away Friday afternoon, April 5, 2024 at his home near Moscow Mills. Born September 24, 1958 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Charles Paul and Jeanette Sutter LoGrasso. He was a 1977 graduate of Hazelwood West High School in St. Louis. Rick was united in marriage on July 29, 1978 in Woodson Terrace, MO to Michele Marie Elze. This union was blessed with two sons: Richard C. “Ricky” and Dominic M. Rick enjoyed coaching little league baseball, soccer, football and volleyball. He was also an avid lover of dogs.
Rick was a truck driver for Schneider International in St. Louis. He was a member of Meat Cutters Union, Local #88 in St. Louis, and the International Food & Commercial Workers in St. Louis. Rick was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Old Monroe.
Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette LoGrasso; and his step-mother, Audree LoGrasso.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 45 years, Michele “Shelley” LoGrasso of Moscow Mills; their sons: Ricky LoGrasso and his wife, Kaeley, of Moscow Mills, and Dominic LoGrasso of Camp Pendleton, CA; and one granddaughter, Brinleigh LoGrasso. Rick also leaves his father, Charles P. “Chuck” LoGrasso of St. Peters, MO; one brother: Charles D. LoGrasso and his wife, Kathy, of Hazelwood, MO; one sister, Susan M. Obituary Preview: Dan East, 74, of St. Anthony, Mo died at 4:04 am Sunday, March 31, 2024, at St Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo from cancer after a courageous fight dedicated to his grandchildren.
Dan was born in Carthage, Mo on September 13, 1949, to the late Lt. William and Pauline (Sitton) East of Apex Missouri. On June 25, 1977, at their small farm near Faucett, Mo, Dan was united in marriage to the late Beverly East. Dan and Bev celebrated 35 years of loving marriage on June 25, 2012, before her sudden passing on February 12, 2013. From that day forward, Dan never traveled without his treasured framed photo of her.
Dan grew up and spent his first 16 years in Carthage, Mo. His family moved in 1966 to Jefferson City where he graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1967. He cherished his childhood Carthage classmates and to this day remained close. He was drafted and served in the 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam in 1969. Upon returning with the GI bill, he graduated with an engineering degree from the University of Missouri. He worked for Whitaker Cable in Kansas City where he met his wife, Bev. Dan and Bev returned to Jefferson City in 1979 and welcomed their son, David, in October 1980. In April 1984, they welcomed their daughter, Terrie. Dan retired from the Department of Natural Resources in 2006. Dan and Bev moved to a small farm near St. Anthony in 2006. Dan loved laboring over their beautiful farm where he and Bev raised (pet) chickens and cows. Dan and Bev deeply loved and cared for their community of St Anthony.
Dan was known by those nearest to him for his many interests; motorcycles (he owned his first in 1964), old engines, farming, canoeing, old cars (he restored 6) but his family was his passion. He liked to tell others that his life exceeded all his wildest expectations but most of all he reveled in his children’s successes.
Dan is survived by his two children: David East, son, of Jefferson City along with his wife, Angie, and their son, Mason; Terrie Ware, daughter, of Bolivar along with her husband, Jeremy, and their two daughters Madelyn and Olivia; Doris (Vanhooser) Gaub of Crocker, Bev’s Mother; and one brother, Doug East.
He was preceded in death by Beverly East, his wife; Bill East, Father; Pauline East, Mother; William Burger, Uncle; Virginia Burger, Aunt.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 6 at Star Hope Cemetery in Elsberry, Mo. Rev Randy Germann, a family friend, will officiate.

Father Greg, 88, passed away Saturday night, March 30, 2024 at Mother of Good Counsel in St. Louis, MO. Born March 25, 1936 in St. Louis, MO, he was the youngest of six children born to Frederick J. and Amelia Ebenreck Schmidt. His father passed away when he was just a year old, and Greg was raised by his mother, brothers, and sisters. He attended Cardinal Glennon College-Kenrick Seminary in St. Louis and was ordained to the priesthood on March 18, 1961. Father Greg served several parishes, including St. Ferdinand in Florissant, MO from 1961-1967, St. John the Baptist in St. Louis from 1967-1972, St. Sebastian in St. Louis County from 1972-1977, St. Paul in Fenton, MO from 1977-1979, Epiphany in St. Louis from 1979-1981, St. Genevieve Church from 1981-1987, and Margaret Mary Alacoque in Oakville, MO from 1987-1994. He served a six month Sabbatical at Harvard in 1994 before being assigned to Immaculate Conception Church in Old Monroe, where he served from 1994-2011. Father Greg served as Retired Priest in Residence at St. Peter Church in Kirkwood from 2011-2021. He moved to Our Lady of Life in St. Louis in April, 2021.
Father Greg served as Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus, the Missouri Highway Patrol, and the Missouri Mules. He was active in the St. Vincent DePaul Society and served the Pro Life Apostolate of the diocese. He enjoyed traveling, with many trips abroad to Europe, to China and Cuba as well as to Israel, often serving as chaplain. He was quite a student of history, was an avid genealogist and just loved being around people. He was very active, playing handball and racket ball; and was quite the Cardinals baseball fan. He especially enjoyed spending time with his brother, Fred, at the log cabin they built outside of St. Genevieve, MO.
Father Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Amelia Schmidt; two brothers: Fred J. Schmidt and Eugene Schmidt; and two sisters: Lorraine Baker and Mary Mueller.
Survivors include his sister, Joan Aubuchon who resides at Our Lady of Life in St. Louis; 28 nieces and nephews, numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Born July 2, 1941 in Hannibal, MO, she was the daughter of Herbert and Ida Rothfuss Smith. She was a 1959 graduate of Hannibal High School. Linda was united in marriage on June 8, 1963 in Hannibal, MO to Dale Lee Hurley. This union was blessed with four children: David, Tim, Melanie “Missy” and Brad.
Linda worked as a secretary for McDonnell Douglas and Monsanto. She was a longtime member of the Elsberry First Christian Church where she was an elder for many years and former church secretary. Linda was an avid bowler and enjoyed Cardinals Baseball, Duke Basketball, and watching her grandchildren play sports. Linda enjoyed attending weekly Ladies Card Club with Beverly Robinson, Regina Pruitt, Judy Henry and Helen Martin. She enjoyed cooking and was well known for making cakes, including wedding cakes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Ida Smith; three brothers: Ernie, Ronnie and Donnie Smith; one sister, Karen Smith, who died as an infant; her beloved husband of 59 years, Dale Hurley, who died on July 18, 2022; and one son, Brad Hurley, who died on January 13, 1990.

Harold served his country in the United States Navy during World War II from March 14, 1945 until his honorable discharge on July 9, 1946. He was united in marriage on November 9, 1946 in St. Johns, MO to Erma Jean Beelek. This union was blessed with five children: Linda Jean, Donna Sue, Vicky Lynn, H. Michael and Karen Marie. In 1950, Harold began working as a bricklayer and ran an excavating business. Harold retired from Wilder Brick in 2006 at the age of 80 years. He was a member of Bricklayers Union #1 in St. Louis, MO.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Dona Wilder; two sisters; eight brothers; one daughter, Donna Mundy and her husband, Ronald; one great-granddaughter, Sierra Wilder; and his beloved wife of 50 years, Erma Wilder, who died on March 13, 1997.

Beverly had many jobs over the years, including: Glove Factory, Parts Exchange, Angelica Clothing, Rovina’s, Elsberry Health Care Center, Whitehead’s and Big D’s. She was a member of DOM Club and Ladies Card Club with Linda Hurley, Regina Pruitt, Judy Henry and Helen Martin. Beverly was a longtime member of the Elsberry First Christian Church where she served as Deacon.
Beverly enjoyed life to its fullest, as she enjoyed her family and friends, whether playing games, cards, laughing, playing jokes and of course cooking, she always made sure she made everyone feel special. She will be remembered by all for her contagious laugh and smile; while always humming or telling jokes. She loved her family with all her heart and each of them meant the world to her. She will be sorely missed by all that loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Nick and Elzira Gevok; two sisters: Delores Robinson, who passed on November 18, 1993 and Bernadette Gevock, who died as an infant; her father & mother-in-law, Jay & Mildred Robinson, brothers-in-law, Curt Robinson & Gene Lonsberry, and her beloved husband of 59 years, Gene Robinson, who died on February 11, 2010.

Born September 30, 1970 in St. Louis, MO, Will was the son of William Manlove and Margaret Marie Watson Beauchamp of Clarksville, formerly of Elsberry. An accident on January 12, 1992 forever changed Will’s life, making him a quadriplegic. However, that never changed Will’s positive outlook on life. Will continued to live his life to the fullest. He had a love for cars, especially Ford Mustangs. Will enjoyed going to any car shows and races with family and friends. He also loved visiting the family farm in Clarksville whenever he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Marie Beauchamp.
Survivors include his brother, David Beauchamp and his wife, Myra, of Clarksville, MO; his sister, Melissa Beauchamp of Clarksville; and his niece and nephew: Brittnye Beauchamp of St. Louis and Adam Beauchamp of Clarksville. She was saved when she was 19 years old and remained a faithful member of Elsberry Holiness Church. Mary Velma worked as a clerk for Schloemann Cleaners in Troy, MO for many years. She was married to Stark King for several years until his passing. Mary Velma was later united in marriage on July 21, 1988 in Silex, MO to Rev. Forrest Eugene Robinson, Sr. She had a loving heart and a sweet smile. Mary Velma had a devotion to the Lord and offered unceasing prayers for her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Sarah Mills; four brothers: Glenn, Ralph, Laverne “Dutch” and Ray, Jr. “Jigs”; two sisters: Oneita Robinson and Ruth Mills, who died as a child; her first husband, Stark King; and her second husband, Rev. Forrest Robinson.

She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, MO in 1973, where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. Ann was a member of the St. Louis Tall Society where she met and later was married William Leslie Ogle in 1981. This union was blessed with one daughter, Dawn.
Ann worked as a housekeeper for the Shriner’s house for 11 years. She served as a Girl Scout Mounted Troop Leader. Ann was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter KG in Chesterfield. She was a member of Green Trails United Methodist Church in Chesterfield. Ann was involved in a car accident in 1974 and was in a coma for 60 days. After recovery, she had a tremendous growth in her faith, developed a deep love for music and desired to become a member of a church that accepted all people. Ann enjoyed coming to Elsberry, especially the family farm and developed a strong tie to horses, loved horseback riding, especially with her horse, “Thor”. Ann worked as a clerk for Lion’s Choice, retiring after 11 years.

Mike was a member of Painters Union Local #1158 in St. Louis, MO. He was amazing father and hard worker. When he wasn’t spending time with his family, he enjoyed being a brew master. Mike liked karaoke and was quick with a joke and in a light of your smoke.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, George Schnettgoecke.

Charles Tichacek, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Henry, Bill Lagemann, Kevin Hailey, Kevin Seely, Larry Carter, Jim Heitman and Anthony Bange. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Kindred, Sonny Powelson, Jackie Briscoe, Jeff Muzzey and Bobby Mahurin.
Bernard, 94, passed away Wednesday morning, February 21, 2024 at the Elsberry Health Care Center in Elsberry. Born November 8, 1929, in Hospers, IA he was the oldest of eight children born to Valentine Henry and Genevieve Theresa Friedrich Bange. The family moved to a farm in the Elsberry area in January 1940. He attended Sand Ridge School, graduating 8th grade in 1944. Following the death of his father, Bernard took over the farming operation. He later earned his GED.
Bernard was united in marriage on October 18, 1958 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry to Donna Marie Gray. To this union, four children were born: Maria Ann, Mary Elizabeth, Michael Alan and Jennifer Leigh.
Bernard began working part time at Galloway Brothers in January 1954 and shortly later began working as a full time mechanic until the business closed. He then continued to operate B. Bange Repair until retirement in 2022. Bernard was a member of the United States Army Reserve, Company B 407th Regiment of the 102nd Division. He attained the rank of E6 Sergeant, serving as Supply Sergeant until the unit disbanded in 1966.
Bernard joined the Elsberry Volunteer Fire Department in 1967, becoming Chief after the death of Fire Chief Edward Yeager in 1970. In 1999 the Elsberry Fire Protection District was formed, appointing Bernard as Secretary-Treasurer. Bernard retired as Fire Chief in 2007 and continued to serve on the Board until his retirement in 2021.
Bernard began reading the newspaper at an early age and continued to do so for the rest of his life. He never saw a newspaper he didn’t read to keep up with the local and world news. Even when traveling, a newspaper was a must! Very few days passed that Bernard didn’t enjoy his ice cream, usually twice a day.
It was often said that Bernard observed the 3 F’s: Faith, Family and Fire Department. He was a devout Catholic and longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Bernard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and served his community as a member of the Elsberry Fire Department for 54 years.
Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, Valentine and Genevieve Bange; two daughters: Jennifer Bange and Mary Elizabeth Bange; brothers: Cecil, Joe, Francis, Art and Herbert Bange; and sister, Isabelle Capps.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Donna Bange of Elsberry; daughter, Maria Gilbert and her husband, Robert, of Elsberry; son, Mike Bange and his wife, Janelle, of Elsberry; and his grandchildren: Sara Cutter-Behn and her husband, Randy, Anthony Bange and his wife, Mattie, Emily Bange, Nikki Gilbert and Stephen Gilbert and his wife, Meghann. Bernard also leaves one sister, Clara Hammond and her husband, Manford of Elsberry; one brother-in-law, Ralph Gray and his wife, Kay, of Troy, MO; two sisters-in-law: Alicia Bange and Louise Bange, both of Elsberry; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Mary, 88, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024. Born April 30, 1935 in Old Monroe she was the daughter of Diederich Aloysius and Adele Marie Gnade Anthony. Mary began working at the age of 16 as a Nanny for Dr. Crider in St. Charles, MO, caring for a developmentally challenged boy. This was her reason for assisting in founding the Lincoln County Sheltered Workshop, where she served as President and Board Member. Mary was united in marriage on September 10, 1955 in Old Monroe to Vernon William Burkemper. This union was blessed with five children: Howard, Matthew, Christina, Amy and Rebecca.
Mary was a 5 term alderwoman of the City of Old Monroe, focusing on building levies and the sewer treatment plant. She enjoyed playing BINGO with KWRE Radio. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Diederich and Adele Anthony; four brothers: John Anthony, Paul Anthony, Richard Anthony and an infant; three sisters: Teresa Travers, Doris Harrison and Sister Jane Anthony; three brothers-in-law: John Heitman, Don Harrison and Jerry Burkemper; a niece, Debra Heitman; a nephew, David Heitman; and her beloved husband of nearly 63 years, Vernon Burkemper, who died on September 3, 2018.

Craig, 71, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born February 14, 1952 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Chester Adam and Dorothy Marie Boswell Koch. Craig graduated from Elsberry High School in 1970. Craig was united in marriage to Patricia Hagemeier on October 23, 1971. This union was blessed with four children, Kelly, Dicky, Kandi and Kari. Craig later married Linda Pritchett on February 9, 1996. Craig was the last one drafted into the Army from Lincoln County, Missouri in 1972. He was a residential carpenter for several years with McBride Homes. He later returned to his passion, working on the family farm.
If not on a tractor, he could be found on the river surrounded by family and friends. His love of boating included navigating the Mississippi River from St. Paul, Minnesota to Harvey’s Landing near Elsberry, MO on three separate occasions with family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, following their travels in pursuit of their love of sports. Craig was a member and Past Commander of American Legion Post #226, a member of the Elsberry United Methodist Church and served on the board of Annada Levee District.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Adam Koch; his brother, Chester Dean Koch; and his brother-in-law, Mark Talbot.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Linda Koch of Elsberry; one son, Dicky Koch and his wife, Meredith; three daughters: Kelly Pflasterer and her husband, Greg, Kandi Kinsler and her husband, Matt, and Kari Koch-Dowell and her wife, Brittney, all of Elsberry; eleven grandchildren: Kylie, Kaden, Kaleah and Kellan Kinsler; Kelsey and Mya Pflasterer; Kenzie, Kwentin and Kourtney Koch; Kraig James “KJ” and Kabri Koch-Dowell, all of Elsberry.
