Obituary Preview: Kay (Alloway) Shields, 81, of Parsons, passed away at 8:45 a.m., Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the Presbyterian Manor in Parsons.
She was born on February 6, 1943, in Mound Valley, Kansas to Raymond and Colene (Hope) Alloway. She grew up at Mound Valley and Parsons and attended Parsons and Labette County schools, graduating from Labette County Community High School in 1960.
Kay worked at Broderick’s, Alloway’s Carpet, and the Parsons Credit Union. She retired from the Credit Union in 2000 as manager. She enjoyed genealogy, traveling, reading, sewing, quilting, playing cards, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Parsons.
She and Wayne Shields were united in marriage on November 13, 1961, at Parsons. He preceded her in death on February 3, 2022.
She is survived by her son, Dan Shields, and his wife, Wendy of Parsons; her daughter, Misty Burke, and her husband, Ryan of Parsons; her grandchildren, Jarred Westhoff, Ian Shields, Cheryl Gough, Ethan Burke, Kaleigh Wilkins, and Makenna Burke; her great-grandchildren, Jamie and Cadence; her brothers, Larry Alloway, and his wife, Mary of Carl Junction, MO and Gail Alloway of Parsons; her sister, Kathy Triebel, and her husband, Sam of Coffeyville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Kay was preceded in death by her son, Allen Shields, her sister, Julia Ann Alloway, and her sister-in-law, Juanita Alloway.

Obituary Preview: Jerome L. “Jerry” Rich, 72, of Parsons, passed away at 7:25 p.m., Sunday, April 28, 2024 in the Emergency Room at Labette Health. His death was unexpected.
Jerry was born on September 30, 1951 in Kansas City, MO to Chester G. and Mary E. (Boland) Rich. He grew up in the Kansas City area and graduated from Washington High School in Kansas City, Kansas.
Jerry worked for the United States Postal Service and after retirement worked several years for Olathe Toyota.
He was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Chanute where he enjoyed preaching. Jerry had a great sense of humor, he enjoyed bowling and watching sports especially football.
Jerry and Sandra R. “Sandy” Bartkoski were married on March 24, 1972 in Kansas City, Kansas. She survives of the home.
Survivors include a son, Steven Rich of Kansas City, Kansas; two daughters, Laurie Roden (Curtis) of Fredonia and Shyla Ortiz (Miguel) of Olathe, Kansas; ten grandchildren, Nathan Roden, Jacob Rich, Brandon Rich, Jenna Rich, Brianna Rich, Rachel Ortiz, Solomon Ortiz, Josiah Ortiz, Michael Ortiz and Sasha Ortiz; and one great-grandchild, Alexander Hidalgo.
The family will hold a memorial service at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Chanute.

She was born on June 21, 1945, at Fort Smith, Arkansas to Thurman and Willie (Trotter) Lee. She grew up in Fort Smith, Waldron, Arkansas, and Parsons. She graduated from Parsons High School in 1963 and then attended Parsons Junior College.
Carol worked at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center for many years retiring as a staff trainer in 2006. She enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, baking, and most of all her grandchildren. She and Michael Carland were married. They later divorced.
Carol is survived by her three daughters, Bridget May, and her husband, Dale of Pittsburg, Susan Carland of Parsons, and Michelle Almond of Pittsburg; seven grandchildren, Lauren Carland, Andrew Sanford, Michael Price, Caitlin Almond, Paige Varner, Lydia May, and Emilee May; three great-grandchildren, Grace, Meara, and James; her brother, Darrel Halstead of Moore, OK; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Billy Floyd Lee and Eddie Michael Lee.

Obituary Preview: Margaret B. Robinson, 94, of Parsons, passed away at 7:05 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the Presbyterian Manor in Parsons.
Margaret was born on April 22, 1930, at Parsons to Herman Dean and Elizabeth “Betty” (Evans) Sartin. She grew up at Parsons and attended Parsons schools, graduating from Parsons High School in 1949. She worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
She resided in California, Colorado, and Wyoming before moving to back Parsons. She worked as a clerk at a grocery store while living in Cheyenne, Wyoming.  Margaret enjoyed reading, studying the Bible, and crossword puzzles. She was a Member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Parsons.
She and Robert Barnes were married in October 1949. He preceded her in death in 1969. She and Phillip Henry Robinson were married in 1973. He preceded her in death in 1988.
Margaret is survived by her daughters Linda Barnes, Gloria Barnes, and Roberta Strauss; two grandchildren, Shelby and Robert; and friends, Bob and Deanna Hoffman.

Obituary Preview: Donald L. Foster, 84, of Parsons, died at 5:24 P.M., Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at his home.
He was born September 29, 1939 at Oswego, son of Benjamin Harrison and Nellie Bell (Sexton) Foster. He grew up at Parsons and attended school here. He enlisted in the United States Army a few years after completing high school and served thirty-three years. He returned to Parsons after his retirement and discharge and worked as a truck driver. He later lived ten years in Orange County, CA, returning to Parsons in the later 1990s.
Survivors include: one step-daughter – Tammy Holbrook, and her companion, Randall Baer, Parsons; his close friends – Butch Bush, Parsons, Randall Baer, Parsons. He was preceded in death by five brothers – Hugh F. Foster, Lynn Foster, Billy Foster, Charles Foster, Donald Foster three sisters – Neva Bray, Dorothy Foster and Joan Foster and a close friend – Michael Hostetler.
Memorial Services will be conducted by the family at a later date.  Memorials are suggested to the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars.  These may be mailed to them at P.O. Box 334, Parsons, KS 67357.

She was born on December 7, 1946, at Parsons to Chester and Annabel (Tanner) Hudson. She grew up at Parsons and attended Parsons schools and graduated from Parsons High School in 1965. She attended Labette Community Junior College before attending Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1969.
She and Stephen Murray “Steve” Fincher were united in marriage on April 2, 1969, at the Central Avenue Christian Church in Parsons. He survives of the home.
She lived in various places during the duration of her husband's military career. She was a homemaker and military wife during that time. Following his retirement and honorable discharge the family moved back to Parsons in 1985 where they made their home.
She was a lifetime and faithful member of the First Christian Church in Parsons. She was active serving the church in many ways including the Disciples Women and the Pairs and Spares Sunday School class.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her two sons, Christopher Fincher, and his wife, Rebecca of Bixby, OK, and Darin Fincher, and his wife, Becky of Springfield, MO; her two daughters, Maile Fincher, and her husband, Michael Shoun of Independence, MO and Bethany Clark, and her husband, Scott of Broken Arrow, OK; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her brother, Mark Hudson, and his wife, Doris of Ft. Scott; and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Aidan Michael Fincher.

Obituary Preview: Dow Wort, 92, of Parsons, died at 3:56 a.m., Monday, April 8, 2024 at Labette Health in Parsons.
He was born August 9, 1931, at Pittsburg, to Lorenza Dow Wort and Frances Marie (Snow) Wort. He grew up on a farm north of McCune and graduated from McCune High School in 1950. Later he attended the Ozark Bible College at Joplin.
Dow was employed several years at the Broadway Lumber Co. in Pittsburg. He also worked as a cattle rancher. He attended the Westside Christian Church in Parsons and the Galesburg Christian Church. He loved to serve the Lord and write poetry.
In December of 1981 he and Virginia Guest were married at the McCune Christian Church. She survives of the home. Also surviving are three sisters, Fern Mendez of Republic, MO, Mildred Butts (Kenith) of Caney and Loretta Zuck of Lincoln, NE. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Mr. Wort will be cremated and there will be no service. Memorials are suggested to the Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO. They may be left at or sent to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, P. O. Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.

Donald L. "Don" Steeby - April 03, 1965 - April 08, 2024

Obituary Preview: Donald L. “Don” Steeby, 59, of rural McCune, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 8, 2024, at his home near McCune.
He was born on April 3, 1965, at Parsons, a son of Leon and Donna (Owen) Steeby. He grew up at Mound Valley and Parsons and attended Mound Valley and Labette County schools, graduating from Labette County High School in 1984.
Don worked as a mechanic, for the Flesh Company, Richard Auto Repair, and he also farmed. Don was very skilled at fixing and repairing motors and was known as a “shade tree mechanic”. He liked to hunt and fish and enjoyed his dogs, Chief and Fancy.
He and Diane “Dani” Wise on October 31, 1998, at Parsons. were married. She survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his son, Darin Steeby of Oswego; his granddaughter, Everly Steeby of rural McCune; his father Leon Steeby of Parsons; his brothers, John Steeby of Parsons, Larry Steeby of Dennis, and David “Pooh Bear” Steeby of Parsons; his sister, Donna Steeby of Parsons; his in-laws, Duane and Mary Ruth Wise of Parsons; his sister-in-law, Gina Wise of Lee’s Summit, MO and several nieces and nephews.

Cydni D. Bouman - March 19, 1970 - April 05, 2024

Obituary Preview: Cydni Dawn (Carter) Bouman, 54, of Parsons, died on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Her illness was sudden and unexpected and she was taken to Labette Health in Parsons and transferred to the St. Louis hospital.
She was born in Tulsa on March 19, 1970. Her father is Alan “Cody” Carter and her mother is Judith (Noble) Murphy. Cydni grew up in Tulsa and graduated from Memorial High School. Throughout her adult life she has worked in the health care field. She was employed at the Cancer Treatment Center in Tulsa and later as office manager for her husband, Dr. Jerry Bouman, in Parsons.
Cydni was blessed with many lifelong friends whom she remained close with. She was a natural caregiver who loved people and interacting socially with friends and family. She never met a stranger and often would sit with patients who had no close family, usually helping behind the scenes in a way that many would never be aware of.
Cydni often helped with her grandchildren and loved to read, ride motorcycles and boat on Grand Lake.
She and Dr. Jerry Bouman were married on December 6, 2008 in Eureka Springs, AR. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons; Tyler Barron (Shelby) of Webb City, MO and Kenton Bouman (Deanna) of Parsons and grandchildren, Phelix, Lysi, Chaston, Emmaus, Tobias and Nicodemus; two daughters, Hunter Jameson (Aaron) and granddaughter, Mayble of Tulsa, OK and Kayla Creel (Jason) and grandchildren, Abigail, Annelise, Jason and Kaitlyn of Tulsa; her father, Alan “Cody” Carter (Paula) of Broken Arrow, OK; her mother, Judy Murphy of Tulsa; brothers, Douglas Murphy of Tulsa, Jason Neff, and nephew, Michael of Tulsa; sister – Karen Bennett (John) of Bartlesville and niece and nephew, Marissa and Donovan Spear; her sister-in-law – Carmel White (Dale) of Kansas City, MO; and her brothers-in-law, Gary Kibby (Donna) of Ketchum, OK, Gail Kibby of Fredonia and Darrell Kibby of Siloam Springs, AR.
Dr. Bouman and family extends special thanks to the Labette Health EMS, Emergency Department employees, colleagues and friends for their wonderful support during this difficult time. Cydni was an organ donor and several others will benefit from her loving decision.
A visitation and reception will be at the Wall Family Center, 2605 Main, Parsons, from 3 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 8.
The memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 17, 2024 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Tulsa (Northeast corner of 15th and Peoria).

Richard "Sarg” Mullinax - November 21, 1944 - March 30, 2024

Obituary Preview: Richard D. “Sarg” Mullinax, 79, lifelong Parsons resident, died at 1:30 a.m., Saturday, March 30, 2024 at his home.
He was born in Parsons on November 21, 1944, to George and Nadine (Wall) Mullinax. He graduated from Parsons High School in 1962 and attended Parsons Junior College and Kansas State College of Pittsburg. He enlisted in the United States Navy and was on active duty two years and several more years in the reserves.
Sarg worked for the M-K-T Railroad for eighteen years and in 1988 joined Joe Beasley in forming M. and M. Moulders in Cherryvale. In 1996 the company became a division of Grandview Products and he continued as manager. He retired in 2004 after becoming disabled following an accident.
He and LaDonna Wells were married November 23, 1966 in the former Evangelical United Brethren Church. She survives of the home.
In his childhood his family were members of the Foursquare Church and in recent years he attended the First Baptist Church. For fifteen years he and LaDonna spent the winters in south Texas. They also were active in the Neosho Valley Good Sams Camping Club and for a number of years were Kansas City Chiefs season ticket holders. He enjoyed being outside and loved to golf, fish, fly and do woodworking. He enjoyed following K. U. basketball.
Besides his wife, LaDonna, he is survived by two sons, Brad Mullinax (Melissa) of Omaha, NE and Jared Mullinax (Jennifer) of Olathe; seven grandchildren, Ian, Zach, Chloe, Grace, Isabelle, Samuel and Sophia; two brothers, Roger Mullinax (Lois) of The Villages, FL and Rusty Mullinax (Ona) of Golden City, MO; two brothers-in-law, Larry Wells (Cynthia Allen) of Cincinnati, OH and Lowell Wells (Tina) of Parsons; several nephews, nieces and cousins. His parents and a sister, Beth Mullinax Grider, preceded him in death.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, with Pastor Travis Ball officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday. Memorials are suggested to either the First Baptist Church or the Gentiva Hospice. Hildegard E. "Hilda" Gimler - July 15, 1934 - March 30, 2024

Obituary Preview: Hildegard E. “Hilda” Gimler, 89, of Parsons, passed away at 4:20 p.m., Saturday, March 30, 2024, at her home.
She was born on July 15, 1934, in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Walter and Elizabeth (Rauer) Lissner. She grew up in Kenosha and attended schools there. She then attended nursing school in Milwaukee obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and becoming a registered nurse.
Hilda worked as a registered nurse in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Wisconsin and Omaha, Nebraska. She later moved to Parsons and obtained her Master’s degree in nursing from Pittsburg State University. She spent 25 years as the Director of Nursing Education at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center in Parsons. She retired in 1994.
Hilda was an avid volunteer with AARP, Brown-Bishop Post No. 704 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Labette Health, Meals on Wheels, Kindred Hospice, St. Patrick’s Church, and Parsons grade schools.
She and Leon Gimler were united in marriage on September 14, 1957, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He survives of the home.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Brian Gimler of Cambridge; two daughters, Pamala Appel of Scott City and Linda Gimler of Wichita; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her brother, two grandchildren, and one son-in-law.

Robin Rae Nibarger - March 24, 1967 - March 26, 2024

She was born on March 24, 1967 in Great Bend, Kansas to John C. “Johnnie” and Wilma D. “Willie” (Bishop) Ellis.
Robin attended Altamont schools and graduated from Labette County High School. She had worked for the Flesh Company, Brown-Bishop VFW Post No 704 and was currently working at Ag-Choice in Parsons. She enjoyed her flowers, pets and spending time with her grandchildren.
She and Todd Nibarger were married on September 10, 1988 in Parsons. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include her daughter, Jamie Nibarger (Joshua Holler) and Clint Nibarger (Kimberly) all of Parsons; grandchildren, Dalton, Kolt, Abby, Malayah, Layton, Karson, Grace and Kinzley; her father, Johnnie Ellis of Parsons and her brother, John Ellis (Mel) of Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Willie Ellis.

Candice "Candy" Wheeler - February 05, 1951 - March 24, 2024

Obituary Preview: Candice K. “Candy” Wheeler, 73, of Erie, and a former Parsons Lake area resident, passed away at 9:19 p.m., Sunday, March 26, 2024, in the Labette Health Emergency room at Parsons.
She was born on February 5, 1951, at Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin to Robert and Rosemary (Ames) Clarenson. Candy grew up in Arkansas and attended schools there.
Candy lived in various places in Neosho County before making her home at Lake Parsons. She worked at Cobalt Boats as one of the first female supervisors, and managed the Popingo Video Store in Parsons.
Candy enjoyed gardening, hummingbirds, sewing, quilting, making wedding bouquets, singing karaoke, antiques, going to garage sales, camping, and fishing. She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs Fan. Candy adored her family and was devoted to taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She loved living at Lake Parsons, and cared for her friends as if they were family including longtime neighbors and friends, the Page family.
She and Ted Wheeler were married on April 17, 1969, at Chanute. He preceded her in death on November 29, 2005. It was often said that there was only one man on earth that could handle Candy, and that was Ted.
She is survived by her daughter, Jody Burzinski, and her husband, Thad of rural Cherryvale; her son,  Richard “Rick” Stowell Wheeler of Parsons; her grandchildren, Haley Stowell, Whitney (Bobby) Norwood, Lauren (Daniel) Fails, Camie Wheeler, Skylar Burzinski, and Eli Burzinski; her great-grandchildren, Isaac, Kayvin, Kyson, Blake, Mason, Dani, and Easton; her brothers, Robert “Bobby” Clarenson of Erie and Doug Clarenson, and his wife, Linda of Parsons; two sisters, Sandra “Sandy” Davis, and her husband, Howard of Shawnee, OK and Tammy Bailey, and her husband, Jeff of Erie; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Johnny Joe Wheeler and Billy Joe Wheeler.

Melton L. "Butch" Hiatt - March 02, 1945 - March 19, 2024

Obituary Preview: Melton Louis “Butch’ Hiatt, 79, of Parsons, passed away Tuesday morning, March 19, 2024, at his home in Parsons. His death was unexpected.
He was born on March 2, 1945, to Louis and Eunice (DuBois) Hiatt. Butch grew up at Alva and attended Alva schools graduating from Alva High School in 1963. He served in the United States Air Force for four years as an Air Freight Specialist during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Alva where he attended Northwestern Oklahoma State College in Alva.
He later moved to Parsons where he worked at The Coop in Altamont, Home Lumber in Parsons, Labette Community College, and UPS. He retired in 2008. Butch also did custodial work for churches.
He enjoyed woodworking, Kansas City Chiefs Football, reading, fishing, and most of all he loved and adored his family. He recently went on the Honor Flight trip Washington D.C. in honor of his service during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Living Hope Church of Parsons.
He and Carol Carnahan were married on July 30,1976 at the Friendship Southern Baptist Church in Parsons. She survives of the home.

Obituary Preview: John Michael Womeldorff III, “Mike”, 77, passed away from this world Monday, March 18, 2024 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo.
Mike was born March 12, 1947 in Parsons, KS. To June (Day) and John Michael Womeldorff II. As an RH baby, he had 5 blood transfusions and was not expected to live. However, he was blessed to have never had to be in the hospital until the age of 67.
Mike married Debbie Murphy and had three sons, John, Matthew, and Mark. They later divorced. Mike and Sandy DuBois of Picher, OK were married in 1983 and they had their fourth son, David.
Mike is survived by his wife, Sandy, of the home. Sons John (Sharon) of Girard, KS. Matthew (Angi) of Augusta, KS. Mark (Katie) of Olathe, KS. David (Brandi) of Lansing, KS. Six grandchildren Chris Womeldorff of Girard, KS. Mallory Womeldorff of Columbia, MO. Rachel and Rebekah Womeldorff of Augusta, KS. Wyatt and Cassidy Womeldorff of Olathe, KS. Sister Mickey Long, Nieces Stephane Long, Jennifer Long-Oglesby (Ben), Great niece Harriet Oglesby, all of Boston, Mass.
Mike lived his whole life in Parsons. In fact, generations of Womeldorffs spent their life in Parsons. His great-great grandfather, John moved from Illinois to Galesburg in a covered wagon with 12 children. His great grandfather, John, owned and operated the Livery Stable located where the fire station and Ace Hardware is now. His grandparents, Frank and Mae, operated the News Stand at the Katy Depot for many years. Mike’s father, John Michael Womeldorff II was a conductor on the Katy Railroad.
As a young man, Mike threw the newspaper, worked at a gas station and managed the Parsons Drive- In. Later, he became a welder and his work is still standing on signs in Oswego, and on grain elevators in Greenbush and Galesburg. Later, he worked as a Deputy Sheriff and became Labette County Under-Sheriff. In 1977 he moved to Security at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant for 35 years. He knows every corner in Labette County, and always had a story about them.
Mike was a big man with a big heart. He wanted to give. In elementary school, one of his classmates was at home with a broken leg. Mike, with his mother and teacher’s help, moved his own birthday party to the girl’s house so she would not be left out.
In high school, he played first chair trumpet, and was a member of a Dixieland Band. He loved Mo-Kan and racing cars. He also was involved in the Mason’s.
The most important thing in the world to him was his family.
Mike was an advocate for the Deaf. He was a member/Chairperson of the Board for the KS Commission of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. He was a member of several inaugural boards including, member/ Chairperson Southeast Kansas Independent Living (SKIL), City of Parsons ADA Board, Parsons Big Brothers and Big Sisters, the Assistive Technology Grant board, First Christian Church Sunbeams Pre-School, Parsons High School vocal music, construction board for the S. E. KS regional Jail, Ft. Scott, KS.
Mike attended many KS Bureau of Investigation training schools, homicide investigation in Wyoming and U.S. Army Military Police School at Fort McClelland, Alabama.
He loved God. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Parsons, and attended Free Will Baptist Church of Parsons and the Cowboy Church in Altamont. He loved Gospel Music, especially old time and blue grass Gospel Music. He and Sandy traveled many times to Mountain View, Arkansas to listen to and enjoy many old-time Gospel Bands.
He was certainly not perfect, but because of his love of God, we trust that God will say, Well done thou good and faithful servant, you have fought the good fight, enter into Heaven.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 23, at the First Christian Church with Rev. Jennifer Dawson and Phil Phelps officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday. He was born on December 4, 1936 in rural Erie, Kansas to Carl and Helen (Head) Haviland.
Leon grew up in the Thayer area and attended Thayer schools. He had worked for Harry Byers, Rock Crusher in Chanute, Erie Creamery, Kansas Army Ammunition Plant and Hermann Lumber in Parsons.
He was a caregiver for several people in his home and took care of whatever they may need. Leon loved fishing, water skiing, Drag racing and his pulling tractors.
Leon and Dorothy E. “Dee” (Lucke) Haviland were married on December 30, 1955 in Iola, Kansas. She preceded him in death on August 2, 2022.
Survivors include a son, Steven Haviland (Lori Nally) of Parsons; granddaughter, Crystal Hentzen (Mike) of Parsons; two step-grandchildren, Derek Nally (Chelsey) and Garrett Nally; and a granddaughter-in-law, Courtney Stangle (Neil Springer) of Parsons; eleven great-grandchildren; a niece who they raised, LeeAnn Lucke of Independence and a brother, Frank Haviland of Haysville, KS. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Haviland and his sibling, Cathy Haviland, Janet Kidwell, Joe Haviland, Chuck Haviland, Fred Haviland and Bob Haviland.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 25, 2024 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Billy worked at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center for 14 years and for Neosho County for 22 years retiring in 2023. For two years he was employed at a salvage yard. He was married to Linda Lee Finger on February 19, 1980, in Parsons. She survives of the home. Also surviving are a daughter, Mary Carson, of Parsons; two sons, Michael Carson (Megan) of Altamont and John Carson of Parsons; six grandchildren, Austin Carson, Ryan Carson, Paisley Carson, Natalie Carson, Kaitlyn Carson and Mikaela Carson; his mother, Norma Lee Carson of Oswego; two brothers, Joe Carson (Susan) of Altamont and Ed Carson of Parsons and a sister, Linda M. Carson of Oswego.; and several nieces and nephews
Bill loved his family, wife, children and grandchildren, attending sport events, watching wrestling, sharing stories and working on mechanical projects. He was always smiling and helping people.

She was born September 9, 1929, in Cooper County, near Boonville, Missouri to Thomas F. and Josephine V. (Miller) Bryan. She graduated from high school in Boonville and later attended college one year.
On January 20, 1951 she and Claud C. Robinson were married at Harrison, Arkansas. They lived in California a year and then settled in Parsons.
Jean worked for the Pacific Bell Telephone Company in Los Angeles and as a dental assistant and bookkeeper in a Parsons dental office from 1951 to 1993. After retirement she worked part time at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home as a receptionist.
She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church and had served on various committees and offices, as well as the American Baptist Women’s organization. She was a life member of Soroptimist and was active in the A.A.R.P. In earlier years she was active as a den mother in Cub Scouts. She lived to fish, swim, work with flowers and collect butterfly pins and other antique items. She also loved to do cross stitch.
Jean is survived by her two sons, Paul T. Robinson and his wife Linda and Peter K. Robinson of Oologah, Oklahoma; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, a daughter-in-law, three brothers and two sisters.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, March 22, at the First Baptist Church, with Revs. Travis Ball and Wayne Mason officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

He was born on April 9, 1943 in Mound Valley to Cecil H. and Mildred Marie (Waller) Dessenberger.
Larry grew up in Mound Valley and graduated from Mound Valley High School in 1961, the last year of the High School in Mound Valley. He served in the United States National Guard from 1963-1969.
He worked for the CO-OP Elevator in 1967 then for Sunflower Sales in Parsons. In 1970 he went to work for Howell Ready Mix until they sold. In 1980 he went to work for Heck & Wicker and Machinery Maintenance in Parsons. Larry was general manager at Machinery Maintenance for 18 years. In 1998 he went to work for Wichita Southeast Kansas Transit which later sold to Old Dominion Freight Line retiring in December of 2005.
Larry was a member of the Parsons Foursquare Church.
On July 12, 1964 he and Patricia Wilkerson were united in marriage. They later divorced. Larry and Linda (Manners) Hardesty were married on January 19, 1996 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include; one daughter, Jill Morris and her husband, Cary of Basehor, KS; two step-children, Michelle Nelson of Parker, CO and John Wilson and his wife, Antoinette of Sunnyvale, CA; three granddaughters, Therese Kelley and her husband, T.K. of Parsons, Morgan Richardson and her fiancé, Clint Schierbaum of Bonner Springs, KS and Madison Vondenkamp and her husband, Jared of Stratford, TX; four step-grandchildren, Vanessa Hendrickson and her husband, Paul of Parker, CO, Vincent Valencia of Parker, CO, Emily Wilson and Ryan Wilson both of Sunnyvale, CA; Seven great-grandchildren, Carmella Stoneberger, Alex Stoneberger and Paizley Kelley all of Parsons, Kinley Tucker of Baldwin City, KS, Gentry, Wyatt and Whitley Vondenkamp all of Stratford, TX and Niyah Schierbaum of Bonner Springs, KS; four step-great-grandchildren, Remy, Ruby, Rosy and Rory Hendrickson of Parker, CO; his sister, Judy Sturgeon of Coffeyville, KS and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Julie Mitchell; his brother, Darrell Dessenberger and a brother-in-law, Jerry Sturgeon.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons. She worked at Grandview before she began a long career as a sales representative for the Flesh Company where she was currently employed.
Pam enjoyed tending to her flower gardens where no weeds were spared. She also enjoyed landscaping, helping her husband on the farm, driving the back roads, trips to Arkansas, going to auctions to find a bargain, and most of all, her grandchildren. No matter what plans she had they would change for her grandchildren. She was kind, loving, and always willing to lend a hand to family, friends, or anyone in need. Her life was a testament of God’s love. She attended the Western Way Cowboy Church in Altamont, Kansas and Back Room Fellowship in Chetopa, Kansas.
Pam and Bob Spencer were married on November 7th, 1980, in Dearing, Kansas. He survives of the home.
In addition to her husband, Pam’s beautiful legacy lives on through her daughter, Brandi Witwer, and her husband, John of Coffeyville Kansas; her son, Travis Spencer, and his wife, Jill of Edna Kansas; four grandchildren, Kaley (Witwer) Langworthy, and her husband, Ty, Rayna Witwer, Nolan Spencer, and Oliver Spencer; her mother, Marie Norton; her sisters, Laura Dean, and her husband, Wes, and Glena Stoneburger of Parsons Kansas; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Bill Norton, her father-in-law Ernie Spencer and brother-in-law Rick Spencer.

LT was born on April 6, 1949, to Clarence and Marie (Clark) Tierney in Pittsburg. He grew up at Pittsburg and attended Pittsburg schools graduating from Pittsburg High School in 1967. LT loved his country. LT worked for the Federal Civil Service for 35 Years while with the Army Reserve. He volunteered for the military in 1968 with the United States Navy and served 2 tours in Vietnam. He ran PT boats in Vietnam and was a Brown Water Soldier. He was also deployed for one tour in Iraq. He spent two years active duty and 38 years with the Army Reserve for a total of 40 years. LT retired with the rank of Master Sergeant. He received the following awards, just to name a few: Bronze star ribbon with 2 battle stars 2 Meritorious service medals 3 Army Commendation Military Ribbon 3 Army Achievement Military Ribbon Reserve Component Achievement Military Ribbon National Defense Service Medal 3rd award Armed Forces Reserve medal with M device Army service medal Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon 5 Vietnam Service Military Ribbon with 5 campaigns: Vietnam Counteroffensive Phase VI TET 69 Counteroffensive Vietnam Summer-Fall 1969 Vietnam Winter-Spring 1970 DA Sanctuary Counteroffensive Vietnam Counteroffensive Phase VII Other Campaigns received during his deployment to Iraq: Global war on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal Global war on Terrorism Service medal
LT enjoyed golfing. He really enjoyed teaching and golfing with his granddaughter, Ava Tierney. He enjoyed watching her play at the high school level.
In December LT was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma. A form of cancer from handling Agent Orange in Vietnam. It was discovered in December and had settled in his lungs. He was hoping to make it to his 30th wedding anniversary in August.
LT married the love of his life, his rock, Carrie (Brooks) Main on August 26, 1994. She survives as home. In addition to his wife, LT is survived by his sons, Jeff Tierney of Versailles MO, and Michael (Laura) Tierney, his daughter, Angela Tierney of Pittsburg, KS, his step-daughters, Jolene Main of Parsons, KS and Karla Lassen of Wichita; eleven Grandchildren, Dustin Tierney of Versailles, MO, Trevor (Alysha Mettle) of Centralia, MO, Devon Franklin and Lucas Tierney of Pittsburg KS, Dillon and Tank Tierney of Pittsburg KS, Ava and Zoe Tierney of Parsons, KS, Syrus Clairmont and Ayden Main of Parsons, KS, Ace Lassen Parsons KS, his Sisters, Leah (Rip) Rippetoe of San Diego, CA and Teresa VanTassel of Loma Linda, MO and a brother Chris Tierney of Pittsburg
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Marie Tierney, a brother, Bob Tierney and a sister Missy Toschi.
LT loved the Kansas City Chiefs and enjoyed watching them play. We are asking that everyone dress casual for the funeral and visitation by wearing their favorite Kansas City chief attire or and anything Patriotic.

On March 12, 1986 she married Stephen Baer in Harrison County, Texas. He survives of the home. She is also survived by a daughter, Jackie Thies (Jan) of Quarryville, PA; two sons, Michael Bendixen (Lisa) of Casper, WY and Raymond Carl Bendixen (Robin) of Parsons; a step-daughter, Stephanie Baer (Brian) of Portland, OR; and a step son, Mark Baer of Portland, OR; five grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Shears, a step-son, Tim Baer, and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, February 16, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, with Jan Thies officiating. There will be a private burial later at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
