Obituary Preview: Jerry Norman Raymer, Normal, Illinois, passed away Friday, Dec. 8, 2023. He was born in Pontiac, MI (Loeva Carnett Raymer and Norman Raymer) and raised in Equality and Harrisburg, Illinois. Jerry graduated from the University of Illinois (Civil Engineering undergrad 1971) and U of I law school (1974). He practiced law for the majority of his career in Bloomington, Illinois. He leaves behind his wife, Denise (Cushist) Raymer, his daughter Angela Raymer Holloway, son-in-law Tyler Holloway, grandsons Wyatt and Jake Holloway, and his newest pride and joy, his great grandson Jaxon Wade Holloway (Wyatt Holloway and Jahda Davis). As his health declined, his sole focus was on being able to welcome and hold Jax, a goal he accomplished.
Jerry was a cool guy and never went anywhere without making new friends. He was intelligent, funny and told a great story. As one of his old friends said, “If Jerry showed up, a good time was sure to be had.” He had a gift for making people laugh. He loved University of Illinois sports, was an avid hunter and fisherman, shot a mean game of pool, and rarely went anywhere without his signature hat(s). More than anything, he loved his family, and his pride in his daughter and grandsons was always right out front. Every note of condolence to his family has included this sentiment, “He was a great guy”. And, he was.
He is very loved by his family and will be remembered in everything we do. He was always there for us, every step of our lives.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, Jan. 6 from 1:30-4:30 pm at Fat Jack’s in Bloomington, IL. We invite you to come and join us in a toast to a life well lived. Memorial contributions in Jerry's name may be made to Central Illinois Memorial Kidney Fund (www.cimkf.org)

Sharon Lucille Tallon - November 24, 1938 - November 04, 2023

Departed: 11/04/2023 (Bloomington)
Obituary Preview: Sharon Lucille (Dulany) Tallon, 84, of Bloomington, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center.
Sharon was born November 24, 1938, in Champaign County, IL, the daughter of George H. and Ethel Mae (Fancher) Dulany. She married Robert Tallon on March 16, 1958, in Downs, IL. He preceded her in death on June 17, 1985.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, her grandson, Christopher Tallon, and brother, Carl Dulany.
Surviving are her children, Tim (Debbie) Tallon and Candi (Gary Fitton) Tallon; grandchildren, Stephanie (Brian) Nettleton, Shawn (Jennifer) Diggs, and Chelsie (Steffon) Schulz; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Landon, Aydan, Lyla, Nevaeh, Colton, Owen and Everly; a sister, Liz (Ron Jones) Dulany-Jones; sisters-in-law, Mary K Dulany and Ruth Hargis; a brother-in-law, Lyle (Kathie) Tallon; and many loving nieces and nephews and their families.
Sharon was proud to be a farmer’s daughter, wife and mother. As the oldest child, she helped care for the crops and animals, and showed livestock at the fair. She raised her family on the same farm she grew up on outside of Downs, where her son also raised his family.
Sharon started at State Farm Insurance right after high school in 1956 and advanced as a respected communicator, retiring in 2006. During this time, and after her kids were grown, she went to Illinois State University part-time and earned her bachelor’s degree in Communications. Sharon made numerous life-long friends at State Farm whom she dearly treasured.
Sharon loved spending time with her family – helping at school, cheering at their many activities, and taking them on outings. She had a special place in her heart for her beloved cats and any animal that crossed her path (or entered her door). Sharon also enjoyed playing cards, dominoes and word games. She was a creative photographer and writer, often inspired by the outdoors and her log cabin home in the woods located on the banks of the Little Mackinaw River.
Sharon had a strong faith and rededicated herself to God in her 70s. She truly enjoyed Bible study and attending both the Mackinaw and Wesley Methodist churches. Though she’ll be missed by many, her life on earth was full and God blessed her with peace by taking her home.
Sharon’s funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Carmody Flynn Funeral Home in Bloomington, Illinois. Her visitation will be held an hour beforehand at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Downs. The family invites you to join them in wearing jeans and flannel or other comfortable fall clothing as this was Sharon’s preferred wear.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's support, the American Heart Association, or an animal rescue of your choice.
The family gives special thanks to OSF and Carriage Crossing Staff for their support and care.
