Millie L. Healy - December 04, 1926 - April 19, 2022

Departed: 04/19/2022 (Cambridge)
Obituary Preview: Before she was Millie Healy, she was Mildred Jucht, a South Dakota German farm girl. She was born at home, went to a one-room school located on her parents’ land, lived in a house that burned corn cobs for heat during the day, did her business in an outhouse, heated bathing water on a wood-burning stove, hauled water for the garden from a windmill-pumped stock tank by the barn, milked cows and picked corn by hand, learned to drive a tractor before a car, went to a church where her mother’s Sunday School class was taught in German and men and women sat on opposite sides of the sanctuary, endured a three-day plague of grasshoppers that consumed every leaf on their property, was once snowed in for six weeks, drank unpasteurized milk, often had to help push the school bus out of the mud, never had a birthday party.
Although she left the farm, in many respects Millie remained a farm girl. She baked her own bread and rolls. She sewed her own and her children’s clothes. She wore a hat to church. She accepted the weather and life’s other vicissitudes with equanimity. She re-used things. She mended. She made do.
She made a household for a husband and four children, a household that regularly welcomed others: neighbors, her children’s friends, Bethel College students. She directed operettas for neighborhood kids. She led the PTA at Chelsea Heights Elementary and the choir at Grasston Baptist Church.
She sewed the shirts that two of her sons were married in, and a wedding dress for one of her daughters-in-law. One Christmas she sewed full basketball uniforms—shirts, trunks, warm-up pants and jackets—for her three boys. She made hundreds of book covers for her two teaching daughters-in-law. She made activity books for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She went back to college at age 42 to complete the degree she put on hold to raise a family. She taught at three St. Paul elementary schools: St. Anthony Park, Chelsea Heights, and Galtier. After retiring from teaching, she and her husband, Jerry, ran Lindisfarne, a retreat center in central Minnesota. When they retired from that involvement, she volunteered at a school in Isanti and at the hospital in Cambridge.
She made a difference in hundreds of lives—those of her family, her students, teaching colleagues, neighbors, fellow parishioners, retreaters at Lindisfarne, children in the Philippines.
To paraphrase Shakespeare: She was a woman, take her for all in all. We shall not look upon her like again.
In her 95 years, Millie was preceded in death by many, but she is survived by many more. All are invited to attend a celebration of her life on Friday, April 29, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Cambridge, MN. Visitation is at 4:30 p.m., with the service to follow at 5:30 p.m.

Loaine J Johnson - January 09, 1936 - April 09, 2022

Departed: 04/09/2022 (Cambridge)
Obituary Preview: Loaine JoAnn Johnson passed away peacefully on April 9, 2022, surrounded by her family at Prairie Senior Cottages in Isanti at the age of 86.
Loaine was born on a cold day-January 9, 1936, and was the only child of Joseph and Louise Rydeen.  She grew up on the family farm on Amador Hill near Almelund, MN.  She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church and attended school in North Branch, graduating with the class of 1955. Around this time, her friend Doris introduced her to a young man named Willis Johnson-whom she later married.  Willis and Loaine lived in Cambridge and raised their three daughters.  Loaine was a stay-at-home mother who then entered the workforce when her children were grown. She worked at various daycare centers in Cambridge and had a particular love for babies. She was also a foster grandparent at Cambridge Elementary School for many years.  Local young adults may have known her as “Grandma Loaine” who would quiz students on their sight words.  Loaine lived at Ashland Place for some time and enjoyed walking downtown for meals and coffee.  You may have seen her at People’s Cafe or even Culver’s when she would have a ride from family and push one of her great- grandchildren in her walker to get the “cheapest hamburger and fries in town.”  She also enjoyed traveling and shopping, though none compared to the love and joy she felt when spending time with her family. She was able to enjoy several special trips; Hawaii and Sweden being particularly noteworthy.
Loaine loved her daughters deeply, and that love expanded when she became a grandmother and then great-grandmother.  She cherished the opportunity to be anywhere she was invited.  Over the years, her family grew quite fond of seeing Grandma in her favorite bright floral clothing, freshly permed hair, red lipstick, and a wonderful jewelry collection–consisting primarily of rings.  Loaine lived at GracePoint Crossing for several years and toward the end of her life, many were touched by her heart of gratitude as she found such joy in simple pleasures; a new floral comforter, painting, a phone call from family, visits from loved ones, and even just one bite of her favorite caramel bar (or maybe the whole thing). Although her family will miss her immensely, there is comfort in knowing she is home with Jesus.
Loaine is survived by her three daughters: Janice Oestreich, Cindy (Steve) Yund, Heidi (David) Miller; grandchildren Jason Oestreich, Nathan (Brianna) Oestreich, Nicholas Yund, Danielle (Mark) Bell, Brianna (Adam) Yund, Tricia Miller, Cayla (Wade) Blucker, Colten (Erin) Weekley, Addie Rydeen Miller; great-grandchildren Zachary and Teanna Oestreich; Nathan Jr., Justin, Evelyn Oestreich and Cayce Nikodym; Grace, Lily, Willow, and Elsie Bell; Ivy and Cedar Blucker; Theda Miller; Blakely Weekley; sisters-in-law Margaret and Sandy.
She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Louise, former husband Willis and his siblings Wallace and Harriett, son-in-law Mike Oestreich, special cousin Delores Murto, and her pet cat Morris.
Special thanks to Prairie Senior Cottages of Isanti and St. Croix Hospice for their compassion and abiding support to Loaine and her family.
Memorial Service 3:00 PM, Monday, April 18, 2022 at Carlson Lillemoen Funeral Home in Cambridge.  Visitation one hour prior to the service.  Interment of ashes- Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Almelund, MN (next to her parents).

Neil L. Hendrickson - September 01, 1938 - April 01, 2022

Departed: 04/01/2022 (Cambridge)
Obituary Preview: Neil L. Hendrickson 83, of Cambridge passed away peacefully on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Stony River Assisted Living in Ramsey.
Neil Leon Hendrickson was born on September 1, 1938 in Fosston, MN to Norman and Alice (Birkeland) Hendrickson.
He was raised on a farm outside Gonvick, MN where he and his three siblings attended school. After graduating from Gonvick HS in 1956, Neil attended Bemidji State University for one year. He took a break to work and save money for one year, then transferred to the University of North Dakota and graduated with a degree in Accounting in 1962. While at University, Neil met and began dating the love of his life, Myrna Bakke.
After graduation from UND, Neil and Myrna were married and the couple moved to Minneapolis, MN where Neil accepted a job with an accounting firm and Myrna got a job as a pre-school teacher. Lots of changes were in store, as Neil accepted a staff position, joining his brother Oris at Bonhiver, Anfinson, Hendrickson & Co, in 1964, their first son Brent was born in 1965, a second son Wray was born in 1967. Then the couple bought their first home in Golden Valley in 1968 and their daughter Sheila was born later that same year. While in Golden Valley Neil and Myrna made many lifetime friends. Both were involved in church, softball, bowling, and golf.
In 1972, the family moved to Cambridge, Minnesota, where Neil’s firm opened an office. Both Neil and Myrna LOVED Cambridge and embraced the city wholly. Both were active in their church, civic responsibilities, and school activities. Neil was involved in the Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees, the Memorial Hospital Board, the Cambridge Development Committee, other professional pursuits, and of course…The Purple Hawk.
Neil was raised on a modest farm and remembered the rural electrification of his area. He grew up in a home without indoor plumbing or an HVAC system other than a wood stove. Money may have been lean, but his family was rich with love and they remained tight to the very end. The experiences of his youth played heavily on all decisions Neil made, he was calm, level headed, measured, kind, and very smart. After accomplishing all he set out to as a CPA, he accepted a new challenge as a minority partner and CFO at Motek Engineering (later TEAM Industries) in 1985. He absolutely loved that job and his employees/coworkers, and he continued to be proudly affiliated with TEAM Industries long after his retirement.
While he was the consummate professional, everyone knew Dad’s true passions were golf, Bluejacket athletics, and kicking anyone’s butt in a game of cards…no prisoners. He must be in the top 10 for most rounds ever played at the Purple Hawk, having been a member and regular since 1973. And the High School never had a more dedicated booster. But more than anything else, our Dad, Neil Hendrickson, will be remembered as the kindest human any of us have ever known. His patience and temperament, grace, guidance, humbleness, and mentoring skills were always on point and legendary. Every day he demonstrated quite clearly how a faithful spouse and servant is supposed to conduct himself. He handled everything with grace, including a slow descent into dementia which impacted only the last few months of his time with us. We’re able to remember the great man he was, without the fog created by a slow torturous descent into a disease from which there is no cure. He was loved by everyone who knew him and I can’t think of an exception. Neil is survived by, and already greatly missed by, sons Brent (Catherine) and Wray (Robyn), and daughter Sheila (Tom) Larson, a sister Jean, grandchildren Wesley, Vanya, Julia, Mason, and Rheanna Hendrickson, Aubrey Larson, Kellen Larson, great grandson Danny Hendrickson, and too many awesome cousins to mention individually. He is preceded in death by his wife Myrna, his parents Norman and Alice, brothers Oris and Clyde
The family wishes to thank everyone for the overwhelming outpouring of support during this difficult time. Memorial Service 11AM, Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Cambridge Lutheran Church.  Visitation one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be in Cambridge Lutheran Cemetery
