Obituary Preview: Frederick “Skin” Montgomery, 92, of Sligo, passed away on Sunday July 9, 2017 at Laurel Brook Landing in Brookville.
He was born on September 15, 1924 in Rimersburg, the son of the late Charles and Winifred Mortimer Montgomery. Fred was married on October 02, 1946 to Betty Shirey who preceded him in death on December 28, 2010,
Skin was a dragline operator for Tri -County Fuel, Manor Coal Company and retired from C&K Coal Company.
He was a corporal in the Army serving during WWII.
He was of the Methodist faith.
Skin was a founding and Life member of the Rimersburg VFW #7132. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and coon hunting and running beagles. Skin was well known as being the Curllsville Tater King. He was also well known for lending a hand to any neighbor in need. Fred is survived by three children; Bonnie Hubauer and husband Joe of Monongahela, Frederick C. Montgomery and wife Hallie of Ford City and Barb Conner of Sligo; a daughter-in-law, Esther Montgomery of Sligo; 12 grandchildren; Jeffery Hubauer and wife Kimber, Denise Huntoon, Donna Priester and husband Todd, Debbi Priester and husband Chris, Donald Montgomery Jr. and wife Ann, Deanna Montgomery, Benjamin, Zachary & Caitlyn Montgomery, Trista Minick and husband Tom, Betsy Saylor and husband Brent and Andrew Smith and wife Kristen ; 24 Great grandchildren and 4 Great- great grandchildren
He is also survived by his siblings; Bernice Conner and Jack Montgomery and wife Dorothy all of Rimersburg; several nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, wife, twin sons Donald Montgomery Sr. and an infant; brothers, Floyd and Donald Montgomery, a son-in-law, Robert Conner and a grandson, Jerry Hubauer.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4p.m. and 6 to 8p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at the Burns Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc. 434 Main Street, Rimersburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 with the Rev. Stephanie Weaver, pastor of Sligo Presbyterian Church presiding. Interment will follow in the Rimersburg Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Honor Guard Post #0454 and the VFW Post #7132 of Rimersburg.

Obituary Preview: Terri Lynn Neely, 52, of Rimersburg, passed away Saturday morning, June 24, 2017 at the Clarion Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born on February 2, 1965 in Clarion; daughter of the late Harry Eugene Yates and Patti Slaterbeck Yates Switzer of Rimersburg.
Terri worked at Perkins in Clarion while going to school to be an LPN, and then she worked at the Autumn Grove Nursing Home in Harrisville.
She attended the Fellowship Baptist Church in Emlenton.
Terri enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She liked watching sports, especially the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins.
Terri loved cats, and enjoyed her cat Bailey.
She is survived by her mother, Patti of Rimersburg, her companion, Kenneth Johnson of Jeannette, one son, Andrew Neely and his wife, Miranda of Emlenton, a daughter, Jessica Neely of Rimersburg, and three grandchildren, Kathryn “Katie May” Neely, Charity Joy Neely, and Courtney Lynn Neely.
Terri is also survived by three sisters, Lori Echlin and her husband Tony of Arkansas, Tammi Greenawalt and her husband Gary of Shippenville, and Kelli Gagliano and her husband Martin of Rimersburg, her nieces and nephews, Kristi and her husband Rob, Holli and her fiancé Jack, Tiffani, Kayla and her friend Steve, Jared and his wife Elizabeth, Michele and her friend Andy, Matthew and his friend Allie, and Kelsi and her friend Marcus, and her great nieces and nephews, Logan, Megan, Morgan, Kohen, Madylhen, Kaden, Aleigha, Broc, Emme, Brantley, and James, and one aunt, Irene Gilpin of Kansas.
She is preceded in death by her father, her sister, Sherri Dawn Yates, and her uncle, Jerry Gilpin.
Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Fellowship Baptist Church, 3727 Oneida Valley Road, Emlenton, PA 16373.
Funeral Services will be held at 8 p.m. in the Church with Pastor Jacob Langdon, presiding.
Interment will be held in the Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.

Born on October 21, 1939 in Rimersburg, PA; she was the daughter of the late Raymond Rankin and Clara Craig Rankin Heasley. On December 26, 1960 she was married to William P. Douthett and he survives. Retired, Sara had been employed as a secretary for the Union School District. She was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Rimersburg. She enjoyed shopping trips, sitting on her front porch and spending time with her grandsons. In addition to her husband she is also survived by a daughter Melissa (Eric) Shugarts of Brockway, PA; a son Matthew Douthett of Seneca, PA and 2 grandsons Seth and Daniel Shugarts. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Alverda Douthett, a resident at the Jefferson Manor in Brookville. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by a sister Nita Jane Rankin. Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 21 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Burns Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc. 434 Main Street Rimersburg, PA 16248. A Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 PM also at the funeral home with Rev. John Monger officiating. Burial will follow in the Rimersburg Reformed Presbyterian Church Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, two children, Judy Montgomery and her husband Robert of Colorado and Larry Miller and his wife Terry of Erie, and two grandchildren, Brendan Montgomery of Colorado and Mark Miller of Monaca.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, and eight siblings.

Obituary Preview: Lavern H. Miller, 93, of Rimersburg, passed away at the Clarview Nursing Home on the evening of February 23, 2017 the same day of his wife’s passing.
He was born on June 13, 1923 on Beautiful Look Out in Armstrong County.
Lavern was married on May of 1947 to Dorothy Himes and they would have celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary this May.
He grew up as a farmer, and as a young man he dug graves at the Mount Zion Cemetery, he later worked for New Bethlehem Tile, and lastly worked at the C & K Coal Company where he retired as a Tipple Operating Assistant.
Lavern attended the Baker Street Church of God in Rimersburg.
He was proud of the fact that he built both of the houses that he lived in.
Lavern enjoyed playing with his Cub Cadets.
He is survived by his two children, Judy Montgomery and her husband Robert of Colorado and Larry Miller and his wife Terry of Erie, and his two grandchildren, Brendan Montgomery of Colorado and Mark Miller of Monaca.
Lavern was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Burns Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. in Rimersburg.

Cleo A. Hawk - October 15, 1932 - January 08, 2017

Obituary Preview: Retired Funeral Director, Cleo A. Hawk, 84, of Sligo left our sides on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on October 15, 1932 in Sligo; son of the late Guy and Gladys Hetrick Hawk.
He married Patricia Stitt on February 4, 1955, who preceded him in death.
Cleo was a graduate of Union High School in 1951.
After graduation he worked at the Eric Steel Mill before joining the Marine Corp. where he served from 1953 through 1955. Upon leaving the Service, Cleo attended Mortuary School in Pittsburgh where he apprenticed from 1956 through 1957.
He and his father, Guy, ran the Hawk Funeral Home for many years until Cleo purchased the Family Business. He ran ambulance and held many Funeral Services for families in Sligo and the surrounding communities.
Cleo was instrumental in helping start what is known today as the Community Ambulance Service.
He was a member of the Sligo Lions Club, he also served on the Board of Directors for Clarion Hospital and built Sligo’s Post Office.
After retiring, he and his wife, Pat, wintered at their home in Florida.
Besides traveling, woodworking, hunting, and fishing, Cleo and Pat enjoyed spending time at the river, boating, and hosting their annual Hawaiian Luau.
Later in life, Cleo looked forward to playing cards with his buddies and most enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
He is survived by his two daughters, Ellen Rettinger and her husband Jeff of Oil City and Joyce Hawk and her husband Matt of Pittsburgh, and his son, Gordon Hawk and his wife Donna of Rimersburg.
Cleo was devoted to his children as well as his three grandchildren, Korey Hawk and his wife Kara of Sligo, Rory Bowler of Pittsburgh, and Abbey Burns and her husband Billy of Curllsville.
His pride and joy was his five great grandchildren, Kennedi, Kohlton, and Kalli Hawk, Karson Bowler, and Nolan Burns.
Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Burns Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc. in Rimersburg.
Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Honor Guard Post #0454 and the VFW Post #7132 of Rimersburg at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2017 in the Funeral Home where Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Stephanie Weaver, pastor of the Sligo Presbyterian Church.
Interment will follow in the Sligo Cemetery.

Thomas S. George - July 06, 1927 - December 29, 2016

Obituary Preview: Thomas S. George, 89, of Rimersburg, passed away Thursday morning, December 29, 2016 at the Jefferson Manor in Brookville.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Tom was born on July 6, 1927 in Rimersburg; son of the late Wilbur and Ruth Flick George.
Tom enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 in 1944.
He was very proud to have served his country and to be a veteran.
Tom graduated from Union High School in 1947.
He was married on October 12, 1949 to Jean Lehner.
They just celebrated their 67th anniversary and she survives in Rimersburg.
In 1963, he and his cousin, along with their wives, merged their dairy herds together and started George Farms Inc. where they sold pasteurized/homogenized milk to the public and later Tom and his wife were the sole owners.
He was also a partner in Ridgeview Coal Company in the late 70’s through the early 80’s.
Tom enjoyed growing crops and was a farmer all his life.
He was a Bus Contractor for the Union School District for several years.
Tom was a member of the Rimersburg VFW Post #7132 and the American Legion Post #0454.
He was also a former member of the Union School Board and Rimersburg Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Brenda Brinker and her husband Bob of Rimersburg, Sharon Borovick and her husband Gerry of Sligo, and Sandra George and her husband Dow of California, four grandchildren, two special granddaughters, Kristen Hindman and her husband Mike and Chery Marshall and her husband Ross, and his special great grandchildren, Hayden, Carter, Madison Hindman and Emma Marshall.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Carl and Paul George.
Family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Burns Funeral Home and Crematorium Inc. in Rimersburg where Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Honor Guard Post #0454 and the VFW Post #7132 of Rimersburg and Funeral Services to follow at 3 p.m. in the Funeral Home with Peggy Mortimer, Lay Minister of the United Church of Christ in Rimersburg.
Interment will follow in the Rimersburg Cemetery.

She was a Physical Therapist Assistant for a number of years.
Joanne had a strong Christian faith.
She is survived by two sons, Ken Thoma Jr. and his wife Judy of Venus and Rich Thoma and his wife Janet of Petrolia, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two sisters.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two brothers, and a sister.
There will be no public visitation.

Bob was an owner operator truck driver for over 50 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Bob’s one passion in life was flying; he attained a multiengine rating flying everything from twin engine to vintage tail draggers. He owned many different types and loved flying them all.
He is survived by his children, Richard J. Atzeni and his wife Brenda of Sligo, Susan L. Atzeni and Renee Atzeni Dandrea both of Union Town, a grandson, Rick Atzeni and his wife Shelly of Sligo, a granddaughter, Rachel Dandrea of Union Town, and a great granddaughter, Hannah Atzeni of Sligo.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Elmer S. Atzeni, and a sister, Pearl Kifer.
There will be no public visitation.
Services will be private.

Sandra was married to Robert C. Stormer, and he preceded her death in 2011.
She was a homemaker.
Sandra enjoyed crafting and reading her bible.
She is survived by her father, Carl Miller and his wife Judy of Plevna, MO, her children, Jason Stormer of Jamestown, NY, Tanya Stormer of Hartsville, SC, and Aaron Stormer and his wife Amanda of Sligo, her nine grandchildren, and her cat, Sabrina.
Sandra is also survived by one brother, Gary “Butch” Miller and his wife Kim of Brownwood, TX.
She is preceded in death by her mother, husband, her granddaughter, Nicole, and her grandmother, Freda Jones who she was a caregiver for.
There will be no public visitation.

Peggy drove bus for the Allegheny Hills Retirement Residence in East Brady.
She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Rimersburg.
Peggy loved farming, being around animals and anything that involved being outside, and she also loved spoiling her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her father, two brothers, Mike Mohr of Georgia and Kelly Mohr and his wife Tannis of Rimersburg, a sister, Donna Swyers of Colorado, her nephews, Ryan, Cody, Alex, and Drew Mohr, and Tim Swyers, and a niece, Charlee Rae Mohr.
Peggy is preceded in death by her mother, her brother, Richard Todd Mohr, and a niece, Jessie Olk.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Rimersburg with Elder Chuck Scott presiding.

Bonnie married Edwin Reynolds on January 31, 1997, who preceded her in death.
She worked for several different restaurants as a waitress throughout the years.
Bonnie was a member of the Clarion V.F.W. Ladies Aux.
She enjoyed gambling, going to Las Vegas and Arizona. Bonnie also loved to travel and spend time with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Bonnie is survived by her son, Jeff Conner and his wife Kristy of Rimersburg, her grandchildren, Ashley Conner and her special friend Jeremy Greenawalt of Emlenton , and Liz Conner of Rimersburg, and her great grandchildren, Aiden, Jackson, and Sylis Perez all of Rimersburg.
She is also survived by her brothers, Ron Schreckengost and his wife Darlyne of Rimersburg, Bob Schreckengost and his wife Rose of Shippenville, her sister, Janet Jackson and her husband Jim of Dubois, her special nephews, Michael Schreckengost of Las Vegas and Brian Schreckengost of Rimersburg, two step daughters, Brenda Lynn and her husband Jeff of Zelienople and Tami Morocco and her husband Jerry of Mercer, and a step son, Randy Reynolds of North Carolina.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
At Bonnie’s request there will be no public visitation and a memorial service will be announced at a later date.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Larry Weaver, three sisters, Betty Murry, Mary Lou Seybert, and Gloria Rice, and infant sister, Ilene.
A Grave Side Service will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Conneration Cemetery.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Myron, Kenny, Allen, and Arnold “Red” Greenawalt, and one sister, Elaine Stewart.

Obituary Preview: Richard C. (Trix) Gilhousen 59 of Main Street Rimersburg passed away on Thursday March 10, 2016 at UPMC Seneca.
He was born on December 18th 1956 in Brookville, the son of the late Everett Gilhousen and Connie Anthony Gilhousen and she survives.
Trix graduated from Union High School.
He was of the Methodist faith.
In his earlier years he worked for the Archway cookie factory in Rimersburg.
More recently he worked for Penn Dot for over twenty years recently obtaining the position of Forman.
He was a member the VFW post 7132 in Rimersburg, and also a member of the Clarion Eagles Club.
He is survived by his mother: three daughters Kayla D. Gilhousen of Akron OH: Keirstin R. Gilhousen of Clarion: and Katelyn M. Gilhousen of Rimersburg. One Sister Kelli Painter and husband Pete of Kittanning: Two half-brothers Todd Gilhousen and wife Kathy of Rimersburg: Butch Gilhousen of Indiana PA: A nephew Curtis Emings and wife Dani of New Bethlehem: An Aunt Kathy Radaker and husband Don of Middletown Indiana: A cousin Tal Radaker and wife Courtney of Fishers Indiana. He is also survived by his Companion his dog Bailey.
Richard was preceded in death by his Father. His great grandmother Catherine Anthony, his grandmother Lillian (Bill) Nelson, His Nephew Tyler Radaker: and an uncle Elmer Butch Nelson.
Visitation will be held on Sunday March 13th 2016 from 1 to 4 P.M. at the Burns Funeral Home and Crematorium Inc. 434 Main Street Rimersburg.
Funeral Services will follow at 4 P.M. in the funeral home with the Pastor John Milliron pastor of the Baker Street Church of God In Rimersburg presiding.
