Ruth Alicia Morehead Holloway - May 30, 1930 - January 27, 2022

Departed: 01/27/2022 (Sheridan)
Obituary Preview: Our Angel, Ruth “Alicia”Holloway, was called to her Heavenly home on January 27, 2022.  Born on May 30, 1930, to her parents, LG and Ella Lea Price Morehead.  Alicia was the wife of the late Paul N. Holloway.  Their marriage was blessed with four children: the late Paulette Holloway, Margie Duncan (Curtis), Annette Swain (Frank Sr.), and Floyd Paul Holloway (Jeanette).  Alicia was Grammaw/Mammow/Memaw to her seven precious grandgirls:  Patricia Baugh (Nick), Mary Sanford (David), Candace Wilson (David), Amber Denis (Gator), Heather Swain (Frank Jr.), Chasity Young (Scotty), and Grace Holloway (Dillon).  She was blessed with 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.  Alicia passed at the family farm.  She was surrounded by her family and Sadie, her beloved Poodle who never left her side.  She was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother (Herman Morehead), husband, and daughter.
Alicia was a life-long member of Lost Creek Missionary Church and retired from Sterling Faucet.  Her goal in life was to see her grandchildren attend Sunday School.  She loved to garden, work at the cemetery, and paint.  The family joke is if it sits still long enough, Alicia would paint it.  Her favorite colors ranged from blue and pink to yellow and green.  We would give directions to her house by saying: “it’s the blue house on West 11th Street.  You can’t miss it.  Everything in the yard is blue.”  With the exception of her beautiful roses.  She loved her roses very much.
In her last days, Alicia told us many stories about Heaven.  She asked that we finish the story of her life.  We feel this is the most appropriate ending:  Do not mourn for me.  For I have passed over to the Promised Land.  I’m no longer in pain, but with Jesus.  I’m home with my momma and daddy, my brother, my husband, and our daughter.
From her deathbed, our Angel raised her holy hands and began to preach about the Miracles of God.  She believed in God and His great power to renew, revive, and rebuild.  The one thing she prayed for the most was her family.  She requested that anyone who does not know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior please attend Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church.  Alicia declared that at that church, any lost soul would and could find Jesus, the answer to every prayer and need.
Graveside services will be held at Lost Creek Cemetery on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at 2:00 pm.  Brother Kenneth Click will officiate along with her great-grandson, Brandon Sanford.  Pallbearers are Nick Baugh, David Sanford, David Wilson, Gator Denis, Frank Swain Jr., Scotty Young, and Dillon Howell.

How do I cope with writing an obituary while grieving?
