He was a machinist by trade in his younger years, but his true calling was being a handyman “Jack of all trades” per say. He went into business for himself that kept him very busy. No job was too big or too small; from painting houses, fixing water leaks, remolding, or laying sheetrock. Buddy was always there to help a friend out and never met a stranger, he very seldom was a loss for words and always had a good or not so good joke to tell.
Even thou Buddy was born in Houston he was a country boy by heart. He enjoyed feeding and taking care of his cows and birds. If he had to run to the house in Houston to check the mail and mow the yard he wouldn’t stay over a day or two, he had to get back to his farm and take care of his animals.

When Buddy left this earth, he left many broken hearts behind, but he fought a good fight. God had other plans for him, and he isn’t in any more pain or suffering.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including biographical information, achievements, and details about their life. It serves as a way to share the news of a loved one's passing with family, friends, and the community.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries play a vital role in honoring the deceased, providing closure for those who are grieving, and serving as a historical record of a person's life. They also help to notify others of the passing, allowing them to pay their respects and offer condolences.

What information is typically included in an obituary?

A standard obituary usually includes the person's name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service, hobbies, and surviving family members. It may also include a brief biography, accomplishments, and any notable achievements.

Who writes an obituary?

In most cases, the family of the deceased or a close friend writes the obituary. Funeral homes or online obituary platforms may also offer assistance in writing and publishing the obituary.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or platform. Typically, it ranges from 100 to 500 words. Online obituaries often have more flexibility in terms of length and content.

Can I include photos or other multimedia in an obituary?

Yes, many modern obituaries include photos, videos, or audio clips to celebrate the person's life and make the tribute more personal. Online obituaries often provide more opportunities for multimedia inclusion.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper or online platform?

Check the specific guidelines for each publication or platform. Some may require submission through their website, while others may accept email or phone submissions. Be prepared to provide necessary information and payment (if applicable).

How much does it cost to publish an obituary?

The cost varies depending on the publication or platform. Some newspapers charge by the word or line, while online platforms may offer free or low-cost options. Be sure to check pricing before submitting your obituary.

Can I edit or update an obituary after it's been published?

Sometimes, but it depends on the publication or platform. Check their policies beforehand. Online obituaries might be easier to update than print ones.

How long will an obituary remain online?

This varies by platform. Some online obituaries remain available indefinitely, while others may be archived or removed after a certain period. Check the platform's policy before submitting.

Can I create an online memorial or tribute page?

Yes! Many online platforms allow you to create a dedicated memorial page where friends and family can share memories, photos, and condolences. These pages can serve as a lasting tribute to your loved one.

What's the difference between an obituary and a death notice?

A death notice is a brief announcement of someone's passing, usually including only basic information like name, age, and date of death. An obituary provides more detailed information about the person's life and legacy.

Do I need to include funeral service details in an obituary?

No, but it's common to include this information so that friends and family know how to pay their respects. You can choose to include details about visitation hours, funeral services, burial locations, and any charitable donations in lieu of flowers.

Can I write an obituary for someone who has been deceased for a while?

Absolutely! You can still honor your loved one with an online obituary or memorial page, even if they passed away years ago.

Are there any specific guidelines for writing an obituary for a veteran?

Yes! When writing an obituary for a veteran, be sure to include their military service details, such as branch, rank, and any notable awards or decorations.

Can I use social media to share an obituary?

Absolutely! Including meaningful quotes or poems can add depth and emotion to the tribute.

How do I handle requests for donations or charity contributions in lieu of flowers?

If you'd like to suggest donations in lieu of flowers, specify the charity or organization and provide relevant details in the obituary.
