Grew up in Virginia. Wife of Yale A. Frame, deceased in 1998. Deceased brothers were Monroe Rickard of Virginia and James Rickard of Fair Oaks. Deceased sisters were Mae Holsinger of Timberville, Virginia and Clara Prusin of Aliquippa.
Mrs. Frame was a graduate of Carnegie Tech’s (CMU) Margaret Morrison College in 1960 with a BS in home economics and English. She taught for 24 years in the Cornell School District, retiring in 1985. The Frames lived in Edgeworth for 40 years before retiring to Sherwood Oaks in 1995.

Obituary Preview: Michael Kenneth Abbott, 64, of New Castle, PA passed away on October 5, 2022 with his loving family by his side.
Mike was born in Cleveland, OH on October 1, 1958 to Kenneth and Mary Ann (Koprowski) Abbott.
Even as a child, Mike always loved science. He earned a B.S. degree in Biology from Cleveland State University and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Indiana University in Bloomington. Mike loved doing genetics research with fruit flies while working in laboratories as a post-doctoral fellow. He also taught Biology, Nutrition and Chemistry at St. Francis College in Fort Wayne, IN, Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA and Penn State-Shenango in Sharon, PA.
In addition to his fruit fly research and biology teaching, Mike loved learning about volcanoes, dinosaurs and other fossils, space travel and microbiology. He and his wife Kristin enjoyed bicycling the back roads of North Carolina when they lived in that state. Mike loved cats and cared for seven of them during his life. Family and friends remember Mike’s kindness, his intelligence and his often surprising sense of humor. He rarely complained during his many years of living with MS, managing the illness with resilience and patience with his caregivers. A special thank-you to his caring and dedicated personal care attendants over the years. Mike is described by the devoted medical staff at Hermitage Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation as a very nice man who was sweet to his core. He is deeply missed by many of his family and friends around the country.
Mike is survived by his wife Kristin Park, his mother Mary Ann Abbott, his sister Judy Dargay and brother-in-law Frank Dargay, his nephew Chris Dargay his niece Cathy Glass and his great nephew Elias Churnega.

Born July 2, 1943 in Paris, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Paul Butler Richie and Wilma Laveda Richie.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved husband of 57 years, Robert L. Agnew, whom she married March 26, 1965; her son, Todd W. (Jenny) Agnew of Flower Mound, TX; her daughter, Michal (David) Wargo of Cranberry Twp.; her grandchildren, Sandy & Sarah Cannon, Alex (Haley) Giddings, Ben Baker and Katy Giddings; her great-grandson, Henry David Giddings, and great-granddaughter on the way, Charlie Shae Giddings.
Sandra was a member of Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church where she loved singing in the choir. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, quilting, chocolate, and above all, playing with her grandkids.

Obituary Preview: Alexander “Al” Barna, 91, of Cranberry Twp., went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 26, 2021, surrounded by his family.
Al was born on May 29, 1930, in Howland, Ohio, and was the son of the late John and Anna Pawelchak Barna.
Al was a graduate from Howland High School in 1948. After High School, Al entered service with the United States Army on June 15, 1951 and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict.
After returning from the war, Al attended Youngstown State University and graduated with a Bachelors in Civil Engineering in 1958. He started his career with the Army Corp of Engineers in 1958 and retired after 31 years of dedicated service in 1989. He was also on the Board of the Cranberry Twp. Water Authority for 35 years.
Al enjoyed attending church at St. Peters Reformed Church in Zelienople. He was an active member and previous Commander of the Cranberry VFW Post 879. He enjoyed volunteering at the Butler VA from 2005-2019, serving 4,276 hours. Above all, Al enjoyed spending time with his family and his faithful companions, Rusty & Paige.
Al is survived by his wife of 62 years, Juanita E. Brockway Barna, whom he married on August 29,1959; his two daughters, Deborah J. Moran (Rich) and Elaine K. Ray (Darrell); his son, Alex D. Barna (Amy); his grandchildren, Ryan Moran, Victoria Reagle, Rebekah Conville, Katrina Sheerer, Anna Stoffel, Alexander Barna; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his brothers, Steve Barna, Gerald Barna and Paul Barna; and two sisters, Olga Atkins and Jenny Smuke.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at St. Peter’s Reformed Church, 320 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, PA 16063, with the Rev. James R. Bertoti, officiating. Military Honors will be held immediately following the service. Al will be laid to rest privately at Pinewood Memorial Gardens in Cranberry Twp.
Memorial Donations may be made in Al’s honor to St. Peter’s Reformed Church or the Cranberry VFW Post 879.

Born March 20, 1955 in Rochester, NY, she was the daughter of the late Gilman Crosby and Shirley Badger Crosby, and sister to the late Thomas Crosby and Anne Christy.
Cathe leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Emily McGee, and her husband, Tom Jr., of Pleasant Hills; her granddaughter, Madigan; her companion, Edward J. Corrigan; her “bonus” daughters, Nicole Murray and Heidi Rice, and many special friends who will miss her dearly.
Cathe enjoyed playing cards, golfing, traveling, purchasing rip-off and scratch-off tickets, and going to the casino. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with her granddaughter.
Cathe’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 from 1-3 & 5-7 P.M. with a Memorial Service immediately following at 7 P.M. at the Boylan Funeral Home, Inc., 324 E. Eugene E. "Gene" Thompson - October 16, 1922 - January 12, 2020

Obituary Preview: Eugene E. “Gene” Thompson, age 97, of Zelienople, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020 while under the care of St. John Specialty Care in Mars. Born in Port Clinton, OH, on October 16, 1922, he was the son of the late Edbert E. Thompson and Marie (Herbst) Thompson, and was predeceased by his only sibling, Donald H. Thompson, in 1967. He is survived by numerous cousins, one niece and two nephews.
He was a graduate of Port Clinton High School and received a Bachelor’s and Master's degree from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. He received the rank of Eagle Scout and at the end of WWII and returned home to become Scoutmaster of the same troop in which he had been enrolled. In WWII, he served as a Gunner's Mate First Class aboard an LST in the Pacific Theater. His ship was damaged in the invasion of Iwo Jima and was sent to the states for repair prior to the ending of the war.
He taught Industrial Arts for 2 years in Hoytville, OH, and spent the remainder of his teaching career as Chairman of and teacher in the mathematics department at Woodbury Jr. High School in Shaker Heights, OH. He was selected as a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar and also as a participant at the National Science Institute for Teachers of Mathematics at Bowling Green State University. After retirement, he taught classes in Problem Solving and New Concepts for Mature Minds at Cleveland State University's adult education program. He developed, organized and was the Director of the Southeast Clergy Hunger Center in Bedford, OH, a position he held for 14 years.
Gene was an avid outdoorsman, a swimmer, cross country skier, a spelunker, backpacker, hiker and boater. He built a summer home on the north shore of Lake Huron on Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada, and spent 32 summers there.
He was a lifelong Christian and an active one in any church to which he belonged. He was an active member of Park United Presbyterian Church in Zelienople.
A memorial service will be held in Gene’s honor on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 11 A.M. at Park United Presbyterian Church, 115 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, PA 16063, with Pastor Larry Maley, officiating.

Margie enjoyed bowling and taking trips to the casino. Above all else, her family meant everything to her. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her husband, William Rowley, who passed away on May 8, 2006; and her brother, Melvin Krepps.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard “Howdy” Druschel; their sons, Jerry Druschel and Albert “Woody” Druschel; grandson, Chad Druschel; one brother and one sister.

Obituary Preview: Eric G. McCandless Sr., age 81, of Palm Springs, CA, formerly of Harmony, PA, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018 in Palm Springs.
Born January 18, 1937 in Bellevue, PA, he was the son of the late Lee McCandless and Claudine Hulmer Graham.
Eric was a proud member of Grace Church of Harmony. He retired in 2001 from Robinson Industries after 33 years of service. A passionate Civil War re-enactor, he traveled the country with his wife Donna J. McCandless to many re-enactments. Their favorite being the annual Gettysburg Civil War Battle Reenactment. He was also a member of SASS (Single Action Shooting Society) a group dedicated to preserving the history of the Old West. Hobbies included collecting a wide range of antiques, reading up on sailing ships, collecting model ships and black powder guns.
Eric is survived by his three children, Michele Cannon of Zelienople, PA, Marcelle Taft of Lake Forest, CA and Eric G. McCandless, Jr. of Glendale, CA; three granddaughters, Kelly Cannon, Delani Taft, and Sydni Taft, and a sister, Claudine Ramsey of Loveland, CO.
In addition to his parents, Eric was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna J. McCandless, who passed away on April 9, 2003.
A memorial service in celebration of Eric’s life will be held at Noon on June 8th at Grace Church of Harmony, 538 Main St., Harmony, PA 16037. A social will be held directly after.
Eric will be laid to rest next to his wife at Allegheny County Memorial Park in Allison Park, PA.

Chester was a member of the Evans City VFW and the Zelienople Hungarian Club. He enjoyed NASCAR, crossword puzzles, and the Pittsburgh sports teams. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Sandie Smith Brown, whom he married on April 21, 1978; his children, Lisa A. Jeannette Logan Fillmore Cikoski - March 23, 1918 - November 23, 2017

Obituary Preview: Jeannette Logan Fillmore Cikoski of Danbury, Connecticut, and formerly of West Mifflin, Mars, and Zelienople, PA, passed from this life at the age of 99 years, 8 months, on November 23, 2017, of natural causes.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Nicholas, in 1984. She is survived by her sons, John and Thomas, grandchildren, Rebecca and Colin, and great-grandson, Samuel Carter.
She was born in Elliott, PA in 1918, and raised largely by her uncle, Carl J. Proessler and his wife, Mary. She was the last survivor of her four siblings, and was a descendant of one of the oldest, pre-Revolution, Pittsburgh area families, the Walker-Ewing-Glass family of the historic Settler’s Cabin Log House of Allegheny County. After marriage, Jeannette and Nicholas lived in Altoona, and then West Mifflin. She became a licensed practical nurse, and worked in health facilities in Homestead, PA. Later in life, Nicholas joined U.S. Steel International and she then travelled and lived with him in Spain and Italy, becoming fluent in Spanish. Upon his retirement, they built a home in Zelienople. After his passing, she made trips to Israel and Egypt, as well as other major European cities, as member of a travel club. Eventually, she moved to Connecticut to be closer to family.

John leaves behind to cherish his memory his five children, Carolyn (Peter) Marsico of Slippery Rock, Linda S. (Frank) Kowalcyk of Boyers, PA, Joyce (Scott) Fritsche of Ellwood City, Barbara (Perry) Dunn of York, SC, and William C. (Carla) Midcap of Harmony; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and three brothers-in-law, Roger Moffett, Keith Moffett and Joe Moffett.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Lottie Mae Moffett, John was preceded in death by his son, John F. Midcap, Jr., and two grandsons, Evan Midcap and Nathaniel Love.

Born April 17, 1962 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of Joan Smith Bergman and the late Glenn Bergman.
Eric was employed as a fork lift operator. He loved fishing, dirt bikes and talking with people. He was a member of the Zelienople/Harmony Sportsmans Club. His concern was for everyone’s happiness before his own and if he could help somebody, he did. Most of all, Eric loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his mother, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Rena (Zikeli) Bergman, whom he married on July 29, 1989. He is also survived by his daughters, Ashley Bergman Park and her spouse, Rory, of Mercer, and Kaitlyn Bergman and her fiancé, Cody McClean, of Ellwood City; his son, Eric Joseph Bergman, Jr. of Fombell; three grandchildren, Caden, Landon and Peyton; his sister, Cindy Michael of Seven Fields; and his niece, Jessica Michael.
In addition to his father, Eric was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jim.

Born July 24, 1981 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Leroy K. Sarver and Cheryl A. Bauder Schoeffel.
Brian was a member of the Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church, where he served on the Congregational Events Committee, volunteered as an usher, and belonged to the Men’s Group. He even took a mission trip to Tennessee with the church. He was a selfless young man who helped serve meals at Light of Life, aided the homeless in Pittsburgh, and walked dogs for Animal Friends. In his free time, Brian enjoyed bowling, quad riding, fishing, hunting, trap shooting and playing on the church softball team. He also loved playing with his nephews and his dog, Buster. He will be dearly missed.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents, Leroy (Patricia) Sarver of New Sewickley Twp., and Cheryl A. (Richard) Schoeffel of Evans City; his grandmothers, Dolores Benner Sarver, Doris Bauder and Virginia “Ginny” Schoeffel; his sister, Michelle (Michael) Creedon; his nephews, Braden and Landon, and four step-brothers.
Brian was preceded in death by his grandfathers, LeRoy Sarver, William Bauder and Terry Schoeffel.

Born July 9, 1933 in Pocahontas Co., WV, she was the daughter of the late Howard Delbert & Virgie Blanche (Slayton) Ray.
Arlene was a member of St. Peter’s Reformed Church, and a former member of the Zelienople Church of the Nazarene. She was a 1953 graduate of Zelienople High School and worked at Passavant Retirement Community for over 18 years. Arlene enjoyed reading, writing poetry, gardening vegetables and flowers, puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed attending church services. Arlene first met her future husband, Melvin “Mel” Eugene Rape, at the Zelienople Diner, they married on December 14, 1953, and they spent 61 wonderful years together until Mel passed away on November 24, 2015.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Dale (Rosann) Reeb of Butler, Gail Rape (Patrick) Madigan of Butler, Larry Rape of Fombell, and Roger (Tracy) Reeb of Centerville, OH; her ten grandchildren, Kim, Mike, Dan, Amy, Jennifer, Tanya, Kevin, Steve, Adam, and Ben; her thirteen great-grandchildren, Noah, Jonah, Julianne, Ethan, Cayden, Deklan, Dylan, Drew, Alexa, Gideon, Violet, Cole and Olivia, and a brother, Robert Ray of WV.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Arlene was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Delbert Ray and two sisters, Dorothy Baker and Virginia Ray.

Elder was an outstanding citizen and advocate for agriculture. He served on the planning commission for New Sewickley Twp., as well as on other county boards and as State Director for both the PA Farm Bureau and the PA Holstein Association. He was also a board member and a chairman of the Farm Service Agency.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 61 years, June Brenner Vogel; his two sons, Elder (Sue) Vogel Jr. of New Sewickley Twp. and Karl (Kimberly Alwine) Vogel of Cranberry Twp.; two daughters, Barbara (Rodger) Goehring of Cranberry Twp. and Judy (Jack) Lemon of New Sewickley Twp.; his brothers, Lester Vogel of Wexford and Alvin (Donna) Vogel of Evans City; five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three nephews and two nieces.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Louis J. Bosco, whom she married on June 30, 1953, and who passed away on January 1, 2011.

She was also a dedicated volunteer for many years for Meals on Wheels and area nursing homes.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Sterling (Cherie) Wagner of Fombell, George (Sandy) Wagner of Moon Twp. and Mary Eva (Ed) Shever of Ellwood City; her grandchildren, Eric (Renae), Autumn, Kip, Tad (Jen) and Kevin Wagner, and Kirk Shever, Kelsey (Chris) Suttles & Tara (Brian) Phillips; 14 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Otto S. Wagner, who passed on July 8, 2000; three brothers, Robert, George and John Vollrath; two sisters, Mary Himes and Marguerite Klingensmith, and one infant granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Dorothy A. (Barzen) Frederick, whom he married on December 25, 1941.
Bob was a member of English Lutheran Church in Zelienople. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He served in the Zelienople Rotary and coached the American Legion baseball team. He was also a member of multiple bowling teams in the area. He worked for over 30 years for Johns Manville, and started his own business as a tax consultant in Florida. Bob was an avid fan of Pittsburgh sports teams, and enjoyed attending the Pirate’s spring training to make sure they were getting the right recruits. Above all, he treasured the time he spent with his family. Bob will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda E. Smith, of Cranberry Twp.; his son, Robert G. (Patricia) Frederick Jr., of Greenville, SC; five grandchildren, Scott (Ashley) Frederick, Seth Frederick, Benjamin (Lynn) Smith, Allison Smith and Frederick (Lynn) Smith; six great-grandchildren, Anna and Jason Frederick, Gracie Frederick, Connor Frederick, and Thomas and Andrew Smith; three step-great-grandchildren, Zach, Preston & Alexis Gallaher, and many nieces and nephews.

He also had the pleasure of racing cars at the Heidelberg Raceway where his family faithfully cheered him on from the stands. During his free time, Lou loved playing the steel guitar with his two bands, The Nashville Express and Country Clowns, but above all, he will be most remembered as a devoted husband, father and pap who worked and lived for his family. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
