Rita Mae Nauman - February 11, 1938 - February 04, 2023

Departed: 02/04/2023 (Evans City)
Obituary Preview: Rita Mae (Vietmeier) Nauman, of Evans City, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023, just seven days prior to her 85th birthday.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter to Jacob Vietmeier and Catherine Lindenfelser Vietmeier.
Rita worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad for 14 years in administration and retired to be a full-time mother in 1969. She was a devout Catholic her entire life and used the Lord’s teaching to live her life in only one way – caring for others. Rita cared for elderly and sick neighbors as if they were part of her own family. She would volunteer at church and could always be counted on whenever help was needed. Her passion for life was supporting her family, neighbors and friends in any way she could.
A skilled sewer, Rita and her husband, George, started a small business that made products to support various union trades and quite frankly anything they were asked to make. She used those same skills to make costumes for her children and grandchildren through the years. She also loved gardening. Her garden, raspberry and blueberry bushes, and flower beds were always a sight to see. The opening of “Rita’s Greenhouse” that was planned for this spring will continue on in her memory.
She cared for the love of her life, George, until the end of his life. Their marriage of 62 years was the role model to so many around them. Their relationship started while she worked at Morrey’s, a corner store on the north side of Pittsburgh. George delivered newspapers to the store for distribution. It was love at first sight. There is no doubt that they have been reunited in heaven.
Much like with her own children, Rita was heavily involved in raising each of her grandsons and great-grandchildren. Her infamous French toast was always the preferred meal of choice regardless of the time of day. She and George never missed a sporting event, school play or concert their grandchildren were involved in. The love Rita and George gave to all of them will last forever.
Rita is survived by her children, Joyce Master (Butch) of Butler, and Christian Nauman (Jennifer) of Sewickley,; her grandsons, Luke Master (Trisha Lynn) of Reading, Tanner Master (Samantha) of Butler, Nathan, Gabriel, Clayton and Ethan; and her 3 great grandchildren, Madison, Ellie and Noah.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her brothers, William and Charles Vietmeier, and her sisters, Bernice Harkus and Betty Vietmeier.
Friends will be received from 1-3P.M and 6-8P.M. on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Boylan Funeral Home, Inc., 116 E. Main Street, Evans City, PA 16033.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00A.M. on Friday, February 10, 2023 at All Saints Parish, St. Conrad’s Catholic Church.
Rita will be laid to rest at North Side Cemetery in Butler.
