Obituary Preview: Ruth S. Enzenauer, age 86 of Ellendale, passed away at home on August 11, 2022. Ruth was born August 19, 1935, daughter of Raymond and Ruby (Newby) Hill of Elmore, MN. She lived in Elmore, Ogilvie, Bricelyn before moving to Ellendale where she graduated High School. Ruth worked at Jostens until she married and spent her time as a housewife and working on the farm. Sewing was one of Ruth’s many talents which she used in her creation of personalized quilts for each of her grandchildren. She was also very proud to be an active member of Zion Lutheran Church of Lemond WELCA group. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, Howard Hill and grandson, Jason Macht. Ruth is survived by husband of 66 years, Marvin; children, Linda (Gary) Seykora of Owatonna, Dan Enzenauer (special friend Shelly Standke) of Ellendale, Dawn (David) Macht of Owatonna, Tim Enzenauer of Ellendale, Suzann (Tracy) Skaar of Hayward; grandchildren, Tony Seykora, Amanda Nelson, Andrew Enzenauer, Vicki Eipers, Dana Standke, Miranda Macht, Mic Skaar, Jay Skaar, Shayna Skaar; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Ali, Colin, Aleah, Kristiana, Wyatt, Rhett and Ruth; nephew Kevin Holman of Columbia, MO. A Funeral Service will be held at 1PM on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held from 5-7pm on Monday, August 15, 2022 at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Ellendale Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment to follow the Funeral at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Ruth's family would like to extend a special thank you to Chelsey Johnson for her years of love and care.

Mitchel Dean Hill - November 25, 1955 - August 05, 2022

Obituary Preview: Mitchel Dean “Mitch” Hill, 66, lifelong resident of Ellendale, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Abbott Northview Hospital in Minneapolis, MN, following multiple health complications. Despite his survivor’s spirit, his body grew tired of fighting on this earth.

Born on Friday, November 25, 1955, in Owatonna, MN, he was the youngest son of the late Aubrey Hill and Mable (Root) Prescher. Following graduation from high school, Mitch continued his education and received his certification as a Laboratory Quality Control Technician. In addition to his work in the lab, Mitch was a member of the Bonnerup Funeral & Cremation Services support staff in the early 1970s and most recently, worked as a truck driver.

Mitch had a great love for fishing, classic rock music, and reading, especially Stephen King novels. Beloved by his family, Mitch enjoyed renting and watching movies with his nieces and nephews and taking them for yearly Christmas shopping trips to the “big mall in Burnsville”.

Left to cherish Mitchel’s memory are his brother, Rodger Hill, and his wife, Sue, of Ellendale; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Hill, of Texas; five nieces and nephews, including, Michael, of Texas, Christina, of Ellendale, Joel and his wife, Amy, of Texas, Vicki and her husband, Kory, of Ellendale, and Cassandra, of Geneva; many great-nieces and nephews; and numerous great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Aubrey Hill and Mable Prescher, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis and Douglas Hill.

Obituary Preview: Doris “Dory” Sletten, 83, passed away peacefully at her home in Ellendale on Friday, July 8, 2022.

Doris was born to Thorvald and Valborg (Selstad) Westland on September 20, 1938, in Hayward Township. She attended and graduated from Albert Lea High School. On April 22, 1961, she was united in marriage to Milton Sletten at the Hayward Lutheran Church.

Over the years Dory worked as a housekeeper for North Central Plastic and a secretary for Nichols & Gillard Law Office. She helped Milton and their son, Ron operate Sletten Plumbing for several years.

In her spare time, Dory enjoyed fishing with Milton, sewing, quilting, and tending to her flowers. She took great joy in watching her children and grandchildren grow up.

Dory is preceded in death by her husband, Milton; her parents; in-laws, Arthur, and Mabel Sletten; and brothers-in-law, Ray Bentzen, Edwin Plantage Sr., Shirly Sletten; sisters-in-law, Millie Westland and Irene Sletten, and daughter-in-law, Kimberly Sletten.

Holding Dory’s memory close to their hearts are her children, Ross (Michelle) Sletten of Ellendale, Ron (Donna) Sletten of Elgin, and Rita (Jim) Nelson of Ellendale; grandchildren, Laura (Scott) Prins, Renae Sletten (Tom Peters), Bret Fisher (Aimee Rodman), Cassidy (Ross) Chester, Noah (Makayla) Sletten, Clayton, and Conner Nelson; great-grandchildren, Braidon Prins, Kaleb Prins, Elijah Ackland, Isaiah Ackland, Kylee Prins, Emma Ackland, Braylon Peters, Landry Peters, and Olivia Sletten; siblings, Paul (Minnie) Westland, Ramona Bentzen, Virginia Plantage, Janet (Ted) Thorson, and Dale Westland, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The funeral service for Dory will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at First Lutheran Church in Ellendale with Pastor Kyle Smith presiding. A visitation will be held at the Bonnerup Ellendale Chapel on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and will continue at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be held at First Lutheran Cemetery in Ellendale.
