Junnie Bug is survived by his brother, James (Pee Wee) Lockett; sisters, Verna Mae Leeper, Annie Mae (Puffy) Robinson, Mary McDuffie (Ricky), and Corrine Bolling; daughters, Ingrid Christian, Estelle Leeper, Stephany Riley, Madelyn Craggett, and Diane Brown; sons, William Leeper III (Georgia), Michael Leeper and Marlon Leeper; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren and one special devoted friend, Shirlene Jeter.
Junnie Bug was always a joy to be around. He would always fill the room with laughter and funny stories as a child. He also loved singing and dancing to “oldies but goodies” with his family and friends. You would often find him at a family gathering harmonizing old tunes with his brother Edward. He absolutely loved to travel with family and friends to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. His famous saying while traveling down there was “Going on down the beach”. Before his retirement you could always find him at his hardware store, Southside Hardware and Paint Company. Southside Hardware had been a landmark on Hull Street in the City of Richmond Manchester community for over 90 years, opening its doors in 1926. Junnie Bug started out as an employee in 1950 and later became the owner in 1980 purchasing the building. He was a strong competitor with many of the large stores like Lowe’s and Home Depot. He was well known in the community for always having that impossible part to find. While well also known in the community the neighborhood kids could always depend on him to fix their bikes or show them how to use a fishing rod. He even worked with the Cooling Assistance Program providing heating fuel for many families. He closed the doors to retire in 2019 leaving an impeccable legacy. He was also given an award of proclamation personally by our Mayor Levar Stoney, City of Richmond. In his final years he simply enjoyed eating good food, snacking on his daily graham crackers, and watching his favorite TV shows: Family Feud, Judge Judy and The Heat of the Night. We are truly saddened, and he will be missed.

Virginia E. "Ginny" Craig - October 12, 1946 - April 18, 2024

Departed: 04/18/2024 (Richmond)
Obituary Preview: Virginia E. “Ginny” Craig, 77 of N. Chesterfield, passed away on April 18, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Alan Craig.
While still a high school student in the 60s, Virginia was the first woman to play the trumpet - solo - with the United States Navy Band on the steps of the U.S. Capitol and at Watergate with an audience of over 5000 people. Though the Navy attempted to recruit Virginia, she opted for a business career after college with an accounting degree. Eventually, Virginia met Alan and together they shared a life full of mutual goals and interests. Ginny was an Accounting Auditor for the IRS and GSA.
In the late 90's, Virginia and Alan were instrumental in spearheading the development and birth of the Latin Mass community in Ventura, CA. As life-long, avid trumpet players and enthusiasts, they sought ways to entertain people with their love of music. Virginia preferred orchestral symphony music while Alan loved jazz. Though they did not have children, they were delighted to provide private trumpet lessons for many parish children. Moreover, they organized a brass ensemble group called Bella Brass which played at local churches and social events. Politically, they loved to vote and took their Constitutional Rights seriously even hosting John Birch Society chapter meetings for years.
However, above all things, the Roman Catholic faith was the core of Virginia's life and decisions making. As a cradle Catholic, she was devoted to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and the sacraments; recited the Holy Rosary daily; wore her scapular; honored the Ten Commandments and visited the Holy Land and Rome to better understand her Faith. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Virginia, will always remember her by her constant smile, kind eyes, and happy disposition in imitation of Jesus Christ through loving and giving in good times and bad.
