Patricia Lou Weiss - August 17, 1939 - March 31, 2024

Departed: 03/31/2024 (Pflugerville)
Obituary Preview: Patricia Lou Faught Weiss, 84, of Pflugerville, Texas passed away on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. She was born August 17, 1939 in Weir, Texas to Nolie W. Faught and Addie Jane Love. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and sister. She is also preceded in death by her husband of almost 36 years, Lamar Henry Weiss.Patsy, Pat, Mom, Grandma, Grandma Pat. She would answer.Growing up in Georgetown, Patsy was the youngest of six children. Being that her only sister was fourteen years older, Pat often boasted to her family about being a tomboy and sharing memories of the many dares her older brothers proposed. Patsy enjoyed music from an early age. She was accomplished in many instruments – clarinet, bass clarinet, oboe, tenor and alto saxophones. She taught herself how to read and play all four lines and chords of music on the pump organ and piano using the church hymnals. Patsy was also a twirler for the Georgetown Eagle Band.Patsy was proud of being raised by Christian parents and making her profession of faith by becoming a child of God. She was baptized in 1948 at First Baptist Church in Georgetown. She appreciated that her parents kept the family involved in church by attending as many services and functions available. This really spoke to her as the family did not own a vehicle and would walk when the church doors were open. Patsy remembered her parents continuing to lead by example at home in how to serve the Lord through scripture, prayer, and helping others.Moving to Manor in 1967 Mom joined First Baptist Church to raise her children in the faith that had been impressed upon her. Located a couple of blocks from home – even though there were two vehicles – oftentimes, Mom and her three children walked to the many services and functions that Baptist churches offer. Teaching by example, Mom played piano and organ, sang in the choir, and volunteered endlessly. She enjoyed talking to and inviting others to join the worship services. Mom encouraged the participation of her children being involved with Sunday School, youth choir, youth group, building a church, and volunteering that would shape their own journeys in Christ. Mom enjoyed music and loved to dance a jig, sing, laugh, and have a good time.Pat returned to the workforce after raising her children for thirteen years. Pat quickly moved from an entry level administrative position to carrying a firearm. She retired as Chief Deputy Constable for Precinct 2 after over 20 years of service with Travis County. In 1979, Pat was introduced to a man in Pflugerville who had traveled a similar road in life. Not only were their life experiences similar, he believed and actively served the Lord. This little Southern Baptist girl agreed to marry and join Lamar at Immanuel Lutheran Church. It was a joy for her to serve this church with him. Singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, participating in church member groups, serving on committees, volunteering in every traditional and innovative aspect of the church with others. Pat was fortunate to serve her Lord with so many church members that she considered family and dear friends. She did not meet a stranger and was always aware of visitors or those needing assistance. Pat worked at the Day School office for a time and enjoyed the children addressing her as Grandma Pat.Grandma loved and enjoyed having her 12 grandchildren and 3 godchildren at the farm. The boys would usually want to follow Papa wherever he was headed. The girls would have opportunity to make cookies or chocolate pie. Grandma took on every interest of her grandchildren, from baseball, basketball, football, soccer, tennis, volleyball to dance, cheerleading, music, Ninja turtles, and Barbies. She was actually pretty skilled in a few sports and had some sneaky moves that took the kids by surprise! Grandma was always available to attend events at church, at school, and for sports where she cheered on not only her grandchildren, but others participating as well.Grandma always made sure that her grandchildren were taken care of. She taught right from wrong, truth and untruth, the Ten Commandments, and the Lord’s Prayer. Her love, forgiveness, and kindness extended far and wide - everyone in her presence felt this. Many things in life brought Pat joy like family gatherings, church activities, and holidays, particularly Christmas and Easter. She enjoyed finding creative ways to gift toys, candies, trinkets - and monies! Pat considered her family to be her ultimate blessing and loved each of them in their own way.Our heartfelt thanks to Juvy Griswold at Mountain View Assisted Living for her care, love, and compassion for Pat. Also, thanks to Joy Rodgers at Twisted Root Medical Massage for her creative ways of keeping Pat on her toes.Pat is survived by son Wayne Raney and wife JerryBeth; daughter Carolyn Norwood and husband Jamie; daughter Teresa Courtney and husband Robert; stepson Bryan Weiss and wife Donna; stepdaughter Linda Casper and husband Scott. Also surviving her are grandchildren Robert Raney; Jennifer Norwood and husband Colin; Mark Raney and wife Krystal; Daniel Raney and wife Tiffany; Amanda Raney; Brandon Weiss and wife Sara; Courtney Weiss Arias and husband Brandon; Kimberly Powell and husband Curtis; Trey DeBusk and wife Tempestt; Danielle Casper, Natalie Casper, and Zackary Casper and wife Courtney; great-grandchildren Jordyn, Rylee, William, Kennedy, Hannah, Jade, Paisley, Cayden, Colton, Ameliah, Jenson, Sawyer; godchildren Alyssa, Jared, and Derek Andersen; sister-in-law Sadie Faught, and numerous nieces and nephews.Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Beck Funeral Home, Pflugerville, Texas. Pat returned to the workforce after raising her children for thirteen years.
Pat worked at the Day School office for a time and enjoyed the children addressing her as Grandma Pat.
Grandma loved and enjoyed having her 12 grandchildren and 3 godchildren at the farm. Grandma was always available to attend events at church, at school, and for sports where she cheered on not only her grandchildren, but others participating as well.
Grandma always made sure that her grandchildren were taken care of.
Pat considered her family to be her ultimate blessing and loved each of them in their own way.
Our heartfelt thanks to Juvy Griswold at Mountain View Assisted Living for her care, love, and compassion for Pat. Also, thanks to Joy Rodgers at Twisted Root Medical Massage for her creative ways of keeping Pat on her toes.

Robert D. Boone - November 23, 1949 - March 04, 2024

Departed: 03/04/2024 (Pflugerville)
Obituary Preview: Robert Dempsey Boone, Jr., son of Robert Boone, Sr. and Inez Dempsey Jones Boone was born on November 23,1949 in Harlem Hospital in New York City. Robert was called to rest on March 4th, 2024, at the age of 74 years old.Robert grew up in the Bronx with his three siblings, his sister Carol Bryant who preceded him in death and his two brothers Calvin Boone and William Boone. Robert was the eldest of the three boys. Robert was primarily raised by his mother Inez Dempsey Boone. He was influenced by his strong Southern roots in Virginia and North Carolina. He spent summers in the south helping his uncle on his farm. Although the work was difficult, especially for a New York City kid, he loved the vastness of the land, eating fruit from the trees and running through the fields. He loved nature. He also believed the discipline and hard work helped him in his later years to live life on life’s terms. Robert suffered from Lupus which was the cause of death for both his mother and daughter. Despite chronic and devastating health issues he did not allow this to restrict his life and remained an optimist, he ignored Doctors dire predictions of his imminent death over the past Twenty-Five years, knowing that God would call him home when he was ready. Robert gained a sense of pride in his family roots and connection to a large extended Family. He often shared proudly that he was a descendent of sharecroppers. After graduating high school, he joined the Navy in 1967 and served on the USS Rowan as a Marine Mechanic. After he completed his service, he briefly worked as a Machinist, but his true passion lay in helping others and he decided to study Nursing and became a Nurse in 1974. He worked at many Hospitals in NY and in DC. Robert lived his life on his own terms and did not allow the biases of the times to restrict what he wanted to do as there were few male Nurses in the 1970’s. He attended Brooklyn College majoring in Liberal Arts. In addition to Nursing after gaining his own Sobriety Robert found another calling helping others as a Substance Abuse Counselor. Besides Nursing and Counseling he was an avid photographer who carried his camera everywhere. He was self-taught and his love of nature and travel is reflected in his photographs. Robert’s work was auctioned in the 2007 Fundraiser for the Gilda’s Club in New York, and he participated in many exhibitions. After retirement he moved to Texas and his work had been scheduled to be shown during this month of March at a local Library with an Artist friend. Although he was an ardent New Yorker, he loved living in Texas, he was a Cowboy at heart but a lifelong New York Giants Fan. Robert loved cooking, he learned from watching his Aunts and mother. He was always changing his recipes, you never knew what you were going to get but he will be remembered for his Apple pies, especially his Chocolate Apple pie which he spent hours preparing for Thanksgiving and Xmas for neighbors and Friends. Robert was the father of three children Robert Boone, Jr., Fatima Boone his lovely and talented daughter, and Rodney Boone from his marriage to Patricia Robinson Boone. He had a deep love for all his children. Unfortunately, they were called home early and preceded him in death. He touched many young lives and was a Father figure to many of them which was a blessing to him. He Loved family and was deeply connected to his Family roots. He requested to be laid to rest in the Pugh Family Cemetery in North Carolina where his Father’s ancestors are buried. His greatest gift to this world was his unconditional love for his fellow man, and his lack of bias. Helived his life outside the box and allowed others to be themselves. Robert was a unique, gentle, loving and kind man who was able to reach others due to his sincerity and courage. He truly followed the command to love your neighbor as yourself, he was proud of being a Southern Baptist. He was a member of the Brothers in Recovery support network, an organization dedicated to serving the community and he was actively engaged in the 12th step fellowships over thirty-five years. Peace and Blessings.Robert is survived by his wife Barbara Austin Boone, granddaughter Jada Taylor Boone, his brothers Calvin and William Boone, his nephew Eddie Bryant and niece Pamela Bryant. He had many nieces and nephews in New York, Maryland, and Texas and large extended family members and friends.
