Obituary Preview: Mildred A. Ziegler, 91, of Spring Township, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023, in her residence.  Born on the family farm, she was a daughter of the late Elmer S. and Helen I. (Long) Brightbill.  She was the wife of the late Harold L. Ziegler.  They celebrated 37 years of marriage prior to his passing on February 22, 1996.  A member of Wyomissing U.C.C., Gouglersville, Mildred attended Wilson High School where she left early to help care for her younger siblings at home.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, working outdoors, and being a part of her community.
Mildred, a former Fire Company Officer and Fire Police Official was a lifetime member of Gouglersville Fire Company where she held various positions in her 50+ years of service.  She was also a lifetime member of the Berks County Fire Police Association where she held various positions in her 53 years of service.  Ziegler was a Fire Police Officer for the Lincoln Park, Brecknock, Mohnton, and Vinemont Fire Companies.  She drove school bus for Wilson School District for 18 years and was a partner in Ziegler’s Topsoil at her residence.
She is survived by two sons, Richard L. husband of Susan Ziegler, Shillington, and Ronald L. husband of Donna Ziegler, Sinking Spring.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Melissa A. wife of Edward Murray, Rebecca M. wife of Emily Ziegler, Scott M. husband of Britni Trate, and Kelsey L. wife of Keith Saylor, Danielle Vaux fiancé of Dan McClair, and four great grandchildren, Jadyn, Joseph, Tyler and Kinsley.  Other survivors include siblings, Beatrice wife of Ellis Garman, Spring Twp., Earl L. Brightbill, Laureldale, Russell J. husband of Barbara Brightbill, Schwenksville, and Kenneth L. husband of Carol Brightbill, Spring Twp.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Herbert, Harold, Harry, Curtis, and Anges.

Seyfert, 83, of Laureldale, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 9:30 pm at Rittenhouse Village at Muhlenberg where she was on hospice care for 2 weeks.  She was comfortable and passed away in her sleep.  She was the wife of Stephen Dale Seyfert.  Born in Reading, Mrs. Seyfert was the daughter of the late George C. and Grace F. (Ludwig) Hill.  She worked for 32 years for Western Electric, AT&T and Lucent Technologies for 32 years before retiring in August 1994.  She worked in the main storeroom and gold and precious materials storeroom.  Mrs. Seyfert enjoyed going to Las Vegas to see the newest entertainment and casinos.  She and her husband also went to Atlantic City and Bethlehem Casinos.  She was an avid bingo player and she had a love for shopping, which included yard sales, outgrown shops and dollar stores.   Her passion was making gift baskets for people and businesses.  Her dogs Maggie and Molly were her buddies.  In addition to her husband Mrs. Seyfert is survived by her daughter Cheryl D. Fick, wife of Jeffrey C. Fick of Fleetwood and step-son Stephen Seyfert, husband of Mary Seyfert of Leesport; her grandchildren Morgan Horton, wife of James Horton IV of Annadale, NJ; Daniel Seyfert of Lancaster; Cassidy Seyfert of Philadelphia and great grandchildren Rylie and Reagan Horton.  She is also survived by her sister Dawn I. Breidegam of Wyomissing.

Lorah, Jr. who passed away March 21, 2011.  Born in Reading, Mrs. Lorah was the daughter of the late Clarence C. Henry and Dorothy M. (Strunk) Wolf.  She was a 1961 graduate of Reading High School and was a purchasing coordinator at Exide Corp. for 29 years.  She was also a secretary at Opportunity House Day Care Center retiring in 2006.  Mrs. Lorah was a member of the Lower Alsace Beneficial Association, Oley Valley Heritage Association and her hobbies include playing gin and canasta on her computer, jigsaw and Sudoku puzzles, watching game shows, and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan.  She loved to cook, bake and every Christmas she would bake a lot of cookies for her family and friends.  Mrs. Lorah is survived by her sons Jeffrey S. Borelli, husband of Cynthia A. Borelli of Laureldale; John D. Borelli, husband of Lori Borelli of Macungie; her step-daughter Tiffany Hunter of Sinking Spring; her step-sons Michael Lorah, William Lorah, Roy Lorah and her sister Marjorie A. Gehret, wife of Arthur Gehret of Fleetwood.  Also surviving are her grandchildren Amanda Leigh Borelli, John David Borelli, Sophia Rose Borelli; her step-grandchildren Kelsey Lueke, wife of Ben Lueke; Jozef Wilczynski, husband of Cadence Wilczynski; Dalton Bachert; Austin Lorah; David Lorah; Justin Lorah; Jeffrey A. Lorah, Jr. and her great grandson Nicco Borelli and step great grandson Aiden Lueke.

Born on March 4, 1931, in Reading, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Anna E. (Keip) Bauer. During Anna’s life, she worked for Lucent Technology for 28 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Reading and of R.W. P.A. IBEW Local 1898. Anna loved to travel; she enjoyed visiting the casinos and spending time with her grandchildren. Above all, she was a person the loved life and will be sadly missed by her family.
Anna is survived by her daughters, Diana L. Spohn, wife of Bernard Spohn, of Leesport; Patricia L. Weidner, wife of Carl Weidner, of Mohnton; 6 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son Wayne C. Rochowicz, who passed away on September 8, 1971.

Jeannette’s outgoing personality was welcomed by all, as she truly wanted the people she was surrounding to laugh and smile. Jennette also had a love of singing and even sang on the radio in the 50’s.

Born in Laureldale , Mr. Eckert was the son of the late Earl and Estella (Strohecker) Eckert.   Mr. Eckert was a 1952 graduate of Reading High School and served in the United States Army.  He was a proud patrolman for the City of Reading for 32 years and being McGruff, the crime dog.  His favorite times were at Hillside Swimming Pool, weekends at Holly Lake and Stone Harbor, motorcycle rides on his trike following his son leading the way, cruises, vacations, playing cards with his daughter, son and their familes along with their friends, and time share vacations with his friends.   Mr. Eckert enjoyed working out at Body Works and Country dancing for 27 years.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Vicky R. Martin, and her significant other Gerald Aulenbach of Ephrata; his son Keith H. Eckert and his fiancé Patti Ann Tossona of Fleetwood; grandchildren Tanya, wife of Ryan; Amanda, Nicole, wife of Terry and his great grandchildren Noah, Lucy, Weston and his extended family Rob, Danny and Katie; brother-in-law Jack, husband of Sandy and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 5 sisters. Bender and together they would have shared 50 years of marriage in July.  She graduated from Pottsgrove High School and received an Associate Degree from Goldey-Beacom College.  Jane was the Secretary Treasurer for Alsace Township for 30 years before her retirement.    She enjoyed pottery and playing clarinet in high school.  She was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church.  Jane spent many years alongside her best friend, Theresa Wenner on all types of road trips, mischief, and adventures with their children and families.  Jane loved golden retrievers and most of all she cherished spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Edmund, Jane is survived by her children, Scott B. Bender, of Oley and Adam J. Bender, of Reading.  Also surviving are her grandchildren, Athanasius and Dominic.  She is preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Spacek.

(Brown) Stichter, 73, of Reading passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 in Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center.  Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Ethel (Beissel) and Howard Brown, Sr.  Kathy was the loving wife of the late Richard Stichter, Sr., together they shared 53 years of marriage.  She explored various opportunities in the work place but she was most proud of being a seamstress.  Kathy enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets with her husband.  She also liked going to the casinos, gardening, and watching Hallmark and black and white movies.  Kathy loved spending time with her family and had a deep love for German Shepherds.
Kathy is survived by her children, Lisa Thomas, wife of Daniel of Reading, Richard Stichter, Jr., husband of Kerry of Florida, and Howie Stichter, husband of Angela of Centerport.  Also surviving are her grandchildren, Karisa, fiancé of Kody, Brad, Anastasia, Devon, Colby, and Madison, her great grandchildren, Lukas and Landon, her sister, Darlene “Dolly” Brown of Reading, and her loving canine companion, Cheyenne.  In addition to her husband, Richard, Kathy is preceded in death by her siblings, Evelyn “Evie” Perfetto, Howard “Junior” Brown, Jr., Robert “Bobby” Brown, and Myrtle Brown, and her loving dogs, Sarge, Tasha, Angel, Rocky, and Baron.

(VanPelt) Schappell Kauffman.  She was employed by Berkshire Knitting Mills for 20 years and for Grafika Commercial Arts in Sinking Spring for 16 years retiring in 1982.  Mrs. Shollenberger was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Reading.  She is survived by her sister Elizabeth Wertz of Bern Township and many nieces, nephews and their extended families.  Mrs. Shollenberger was preceded in death by her sister Jane Daubert and her brother Donald Kauffman.  The family of Mrs. Shollenberger would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Country Meadows and Grane Hospice for the care and devotion they offered to Dorothy.

She is survived by her children, Mary Theresa Calderoni, wife of Carl Arrington, of Delaware; Anthony Calderoni, husband of Marie  C., of West Lawn ; Anne Marie Calderoni, significant other of Leonard "Scott" Beierschmitt; grandchildren, Elena, Anthony M., Emma, Robert, and Tyler; and great-granddaughter, Ivanna Calderoni.
Rikki was predeceased by her daughter Lisa Spare, who passed away on October 31, 2019. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church 2600 St. Albans Drive Reading, PA 19609 on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 10:00am. Burial of the Urn to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church from 9:00am-10:00am. Zimmerman, Kathryn M. Zimmerman, Joan M. Zimmerman and is survived by the love of his life,  Kathy Dugan of Reading; nieces Kathy J. Varga, wife of Michael J. Varga of Katy, Texas; Karen Zimmerman of Reading and his nephew John Zimmerman, husband of Aurora Zimmerman of Missouri City, Texas.  He is also survived by his great nephew Christopher Varga of Katy, Texas and his great niece Ashley Varga of Henrico, Virginia.

Joanne is survived by her daughters Jolynn A. Stuebner, wife of Michael, of Sinking Spring; Joette M. Schwenk, wife of Eric, of Birdsboro; 4 grandchildren, Alec M., Adam M., husband of Olivia K., Brynn E., Brooke O., and a great granddaughter Penelope A.  Joanne is also survived by her sister Georgeann Waldbiesser, wife of Richard, of Muhlenberg Township; Brother James G. Kurowski, husband of Judy, of Wernersville; a niece and several nephews.

He graduated from Kutztown University in 1967 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, where he met his wife.  He was the co-owner of Bevwood Carpets with his wife Beverly for over 40 years. He was a lifelong member of Wesley United Methodist Church (previously Windsor Street United Methodist Church).
Woody was devoted to his wife and family and enjoyed a good laugh, even in his last days. He loved to gather with his extended family and never heard a joke he didn’t appreciate and wanted to pass all of them on to bring laughter to others.
Sherwood is survived by his daughters, Stephanie E. Daniels, wife of Melissa Aitkin, of Brooklyn, New York, and Rebecca L. Slaymaker, wife of Matthew Slaymaker, of Oskaloosa, Iowa. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Maxwell, and Eleanor, and his brother, Rodney J. Daniels.
In addition to his wife Beverly, Sherwood is predeceased by his brother, Jack J. Daniels.

After his retirement, he helped greet customers and answer phones at the Bellevue Gem & Rock Shop for sixteen years. Bob was an active member of Alsace Lutheran Church. He loved traveling and spending time with his friends and family. He was always active and during his younger years, he enjoyed skiing, boating, horseback riding, and volunteering at Lazy H Therapeutic Riding Academy.
Surviving Bob are his grandchildren, Megan C. Fegely, wife of Brett, of West Lawn, Barry Huey, husband of Lynae, of Temple, Crysten Campbell, wife of Brian Thomason, of Wyomissing, Brittany Sustala, wife of Jeremy, of New Braunfels, Texas, and Brianne Huey, loving companion of Justin Rentschler, of Reading, as well as his 9 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Carol, Bob was predeceased by his son, Curt William Boyer, and daughter, Beth Ann Huey.
