Departed: 04/17/2024 (Cridersville)
Obituary Preview: Felica M. Higginbotham, a vibrant and beloved soul, left this world tragically on Wednesday morning, April 17, 2024, at the tender age of 20, in a heartbreaking automobile accident. Born on October 8, 2003, in Lima, Ohio, Felica brought joy and laughter wherever she went.
Felica is survived by her grieving parents, Andrea S. Mullins and Sabastion Dietz of Delphos. She leaves behind her devoted fiancée, Chevy Van Gundy, of Delphos, who shares in the pain of her loss. Felica is also survived by her siblings; Jazzmin (Mikey Flemings) Higginbotham of Delphos; Karter Hudnall of Delphos; Jaxson Dietz of Delphos, Jaycee Dietz of Delphos, Rashel Higginbotham of Kentucky, and Isiah Higginbotham of Tennessee.
In addition to her immediate family, Felica is remembered by her cherished maternal grandparents, Kelly and Bob Zeigler of Lakeview, and Jimmie Mullins of Uniopolis. She is also survived by her maternal aunt and uncle, Ashley and Scotty Bellman of Wapakoneta, along with her cousins Aiden, Taylor, and Colton Bellman, all of Wapakoneta. Felica will be dearly missed by her maternal great-uncles and aunts, Leonard Mullins of Wapakoneta, Gaye (Brian) Winget of Lima, Shelly (Dan) McPheron of Shawnee, and Darla (Melvin) Boroff of Shawnee. Her memories will be cherished by maternal uncles Dillon Liles and Zach Liles of Lima, maternal grandmother Stacey Liles of Florida, and maternal great-grandfather Thomas Dietz of Wapakoneta. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Goose.
On her paternal side, Felica is remembered by her paternal grandmother, Wilma Armer of Lima, and great-uncle Jimmy Christian of Wapakoneta, along with her aunts Marcy Christian of Wapakoneta, Doug and Steph Miller of Waynesfield; uncles Eric Garey and John Higginbotham of Lima; and cousins - Abigail and Micha Miller. Felica touched the lives of many through her work as a server at Buffalo Wild Wings in St. Mary's and The Grill on Main in Coldwater. She had a special bond with children, and her infectious laughter and vibrant personality made her a joy to be around. Felica's spirit was as radiant as her smile, earning her the affectionate nickname "brunette with a blonde personality." She was outgoing, loud, and dramatic, a one-of-a-kind individual who lit up any room she entered. Felica had a passion for makeup and photography. She was a loving person, always ready to lend a helping hand and spread positivity wherever she went. Felica cherished her role as a big sister and took
pride in nurturing those around her.
In addition to her many accomplishments and cherished memories, it brings profound sadness to announce that Felica had recently discovered she was expecting. Though her time as a mother was tragically cut short, there is no doubt she would have embraced this new chapter with the same boundless love, enthusiasm, and warmth that she brought to every aspect of her life. Felica's nurturing spirit and capacity for love were evident to all who knew her, and there is no doubt she would have been a remarkable mother. While we mourn the loss of the future, she would have had with her child, we find comfort in knowing that her legacy of love will endure through the lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind.
Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 22, 2024 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Inc., Cridersville. Rev. Judy Baker will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.

His late father, Richard Lawrence Waughtel, a pillar of strength, sharedwith him a profound connection rooted in mutual respect and unspokenunderstanding a bond that deeply influenced the man he became. October 31, 1987, his son and name sake, Richard Homer Waughtel, Jr.RJ (Chelsy) was born and resides in Bluffton, Ohio. Through him,Richard saw a reflection of his own hopes and dreams, not just for acontinuation of his name, but for the continuation of his values and hisspirit. On March 23, 1996, he married the love of his life, Kimberly LavernaMort. His unyielding love for her was unmatched and extended to herchildren. Sarah (Berny Simpson) Helton, Cody (Alicia Wireman) Helton, and Trisha Helton (Tim) Woten. He became a second father, not out ofobligation, but out of deep and abiding love for Kim. He showed themthat family is not just about blood ties, but about dedication andcommitment we choose to give to others. Renowned for his work ethic, he approached every task, big or small, with the utmost dedication. He gave his all, not for accolades orrecognition but out of his belief in doing ones best and he expectednothing less from others. His integrity was impeccable, living by theprinciple that ones word is their bond. In a world that oftencompromises for convenience, he stood firm on his principles, teachingothers that hard work and integrity is the cornerstone of onescharacter. Richard, Homer to some, was a man of few words and to others his hardexterior could be intimidating. Love wasnt in the grand gestures orflowery words. Instead, it was in the steadfastness of his presence, thesecurity he provided and the silent sacrifices he made. His love was aconstant, unwavering force that could be felt in his actions and hisevery decision. He was the rock, the provider and yes the occasionalsource of frustration, but to be clear, if he gave you a hard time, heliked you! Even with the gut wrenching Parkinsons diagnoses at age 30, he couldntbe kept down. Right up to the end, he kept moving, stayed strong and didit his way. He splurged on pizza and three Musketeers, even charmingspecially made sandwiches out of his buddy, nurse Denise all with thatsideways smirk of his, an endearing legacy he passed to his son, RJ. Life was never easy for Richard, and he wasnt easy on those he loved. Those that knew his no nonsense tactics can undoubtedly attest thatwithout them, there would be a strength missing on the inside of them.A strength that would have never manifested without his tough love. Henever once complained about the terrible cards life dealt him, neverwanted any fuss on his account. He surely didnt want to hear whining. One can wish things would have been different, regret, feel sorry oreven broken, but he would have had no part of that. He would have asked,“What the F____ are you going to do about it?” and expected it to bedone. Richard leaves behind 5 grandchildren CJ, Trace, Dyllan, Waylon, andLanden who brought out such a softness in him. To see and hear aboutthem brought a special light to his eyes. A private gathering will be held to honor and celebrate his life, withdetails to be shared with family and close friends.

He cherished every moment, as was evident with a framed greeting at their home: “Yesterday’s the past, tomorrow’s the future, but today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.”
Tony was also the recipient of a bilateral lung transplant at the Cleveland Clinic on April 21, 1996. This 28 year-long, life-saving gift was never forgotten or misspent, giving him breath until his final days. Tony gave back to Lifeline of Ohio with his time, energy, and the worn tread on his running shoes.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and celebrate the life of the deceased, while also providing essential information for those who want to pay their respects. They help to notify others of the passing, share memories and stories, and provide details about funeral services and memorial events.

Who typically writes an obituary?

In most cases, the obituary is written by the family members or close friends of the deceased, with the assistance of a funeral home or obituary writer. The writer will gather information from the family and create a concise and meaningful tribute to the person who has passed away.

What information should be included in an obituary?

What is the difference between an obituary and a death notice?
