Randall Dean Smith - September 11, 1961 - April 06, 2024

Departed: 04/06/2024 (Dayton)
Obituary Preview: Randall Dean Smith “Peanut”, a cherished member of the community known for his sociable nature, passed away on April 6, 2024, at the age of 62 in Dayton, OH. Born on September 11, 1961, in Cincinnati, OH, he was the son of the late Lowell Smith and Beulah (Gibson) Smith. His vibrant life and the positive impact he had on those around him remain etched in the memories of his beloved family and friends.
Peanut was a proud father to Ryan Smith, who along with his girlfriend Chelsea Tull, provided him with immense joy. The two of them were right by his side holding, comforting and assuring him it was okay to rest as he passed peacefully away in the comfort of Ryan’s home. A devoted brother and a loving uncle, he is fondly remembered by his sister Darlene (John) Booth, his niece Holly (Jon) Fiora, and his nephew Tracey Booth. He was also a dog grandpa to Ziggy who truly adored him and will miss him deeply. Him and his family remember with heavy hearts the untimely loss of his nephew Sean Booth.
After graduating high school, Peanut honed his skills and became a skilled toolmaker - a profession he devotedly practiced across various companies. His hard work ethic shone brightly when he retired, as he successfully founded and ran his own landscaping business, which at its peak managed 30 yards.
Peanut's zest for life extended beyond his work. He enjoyed his tenure as a player and coach for multiple local softball teams, solidifying his place within the sports community. He spent many hours at the Miami Valley Country Club playing golf through his years and loved to find new places to tee off. His loyalty to the Denver Broncos was unparalleled, and he was thrilled to have witnessed them play live many years ago. The thrill of watching them at the stadium never stunted his excitement to watch them on TV. Over the years, Peanut was a steadfast member of the Corner Club, Irish Club, and more recently the American Legion, embracing every opportunity to make enduring friendships. His genuine ability to connect with people transformed every encounter into a long-lasting bond.
His laughter, wisdom, and generous nature will be profoundly missed, as Randall "Peanut" Smith's legacy lives on in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. We will take time to remember his life as a community on Saturday, April 20, 2024 in one of his favorite places - The Irish Club 6555 Dog Leg Rd, Dayton, OH 45414. Richard Stephens - November 10, 1954 - March 07, 2024

Departed: 03/07/2024 (Dayton)
Obituary Preview: Richard E. Stephens was born November 10, 1954 in Dayton, Ohio, a city where he lived his entire life. Richard was, above all, a man who worked hard to provide for his family. The creation of this family and the endurance of his 47 year long marriage to the love of his life, Candace (Ryan) Stephens, was the accomplishment for which he was most proud in his life. Growing up, Richard and his parents Ralph Stephens and Ruth (Smith) Stephens, sister Julie Stephens and brother Bradely Stephens enjoyed spending time on the river water skiing in their boat the "Chiquita". These aquatic adventures instilled in Richard a life-long love of water, and in later life, he could often be found sleeping peacefully on a raft in his backyard swimming pool. Water sports were not the only thing he enjoyed in his prime. Early in life, Richard met with a guy he would consider his decades long "best bud", Rusty Walsh. Together these two would get into enough shenanigans to allow for a lifetime of side-splitting stories. Rusty stayed by his best friend's side until the end. When Richard met Candy in the 1970's, few would have known that the two would go on to create a life together that would span almost half a century. Though times were not always easy, the two never wavered in their dedication to one another. They welcomed a daughter Hollie Stephens (David Sommer) in 1980 and then a son, Ryan Stephens in 1983. Richard instilled in his children a sense of responsibility, commitment and kindness, a trait for which Richard was widely known (even if he could get a smidge grouchy at times.) Richard and Candy enjoyed many adventures together, but none were as exciting as those when they would ride Richard's beloved Harley Davidson motorcycle through the backcountry roads of Ohio, losing time and sense of direction, simply relaxing and living. Not all fun times were filled with excitement, Richard also enjoyed mind-numbingly boring PBS programs which he could sit and watch for hours, much to the chagrin of his family. In all, Richard's was a life well-lived, and like all good things must do, his life came to an end March 7, 2024. His wife and beloved pets were by his side just as they have always been. If a well-lived life can be measured by the pain and emptiness left by one's departure, then Richard's life was definitely a success story.
