Gregory Frank Brazaitis - April 24, 1948 - March 17, 2023

Departed: 03/17/2023 (Humble)
Obituary Preview: Greg was born April 24, 1948 and passed peacefully and gently into Heaven on March 17, 2023. He was born in Elizabeth, NJ to Virginia and Charles Brazaitis, the first of five boys.
He grew up in Linden, NJ, playing sports and roaming the woods behind his house. He said their mom strongly encouraged outdoor activities, as their home was small and at full capacity. He had a newspaper route at a young age and was an altar boy at their Catholic Church. He spent many hours in the front yard tossing a baseball with his dad, and as a young kid would take the train in to Yankee Stadium to watch his favorite team. The ‘56 Yankees World Series was forever one of the highlights of his life.
After college at Pratt and Seton Hall, Greg’s first real job was with the Port Authority, where he worked on Newark Airport and construction of the World Trade Center Twin Towers. He later managed a camp for expatriates in Saudi Arabia, which led to great adventures exploring Greece and Africa, roaming the Saudi deserts, and scuba diving in the Red Sea. In 1980, Greg returned to the States to work for Tenneco. Most days he rode his bike 18 miles to work — despite the condition of his work suit, which was stuffed into saddle bags — and he’d then do a morning aerobics class at the Tenneco fitness center. One morning in 1987, he asked a red haired girl named Marcy (who was notably wearing pink Reeboks) to be his buddy for a fitness contest. After 6 weeks of working out together, they won the promised gym bags and had dinner to celebrate. Greg then painted her house, was badly bitten by one of her orange cats, took her to the rugged wilderness of Big Bend on her first ever camping trip, and two years later they were married. They honeymooned hiking the Grand Canyon, and a lifetime of National Park adventures began. Greg and Marcy had many wonderful travels over many years.
Greg dearly loved nature, the outdoors, the majestic night sky, and learning about plants, animals, and astronomy. He was happiest studying the constellations, enjoying the solitude of his special Centerville ranch, misidentifying birds, hiking new trails, visiting the grand national park lodges, and most of all, returning to his favorite place on earth, Big Bend National Park. He proudly introduced family and many friends to this most special place and visited the park multiple times each year. He was honored to serve on the board of Big Bend Conservancy for 9 years, and as President, his proudest achievement and lasting legacy was the completion of the Fossil Discovery Exhibit. He also oversaw the debut of the Park orientation film and rehabilitation of wetlands in the Rio Grande Village area. Greg’s professionalism, enthusiasm, and love for the park laid a strong foundation for the conservancy, strengthening the relationship with the National Park Service and moving the organization to the national stage as an organization that contributes significantly to its park partner.
Greg was a true leader and spent many years in leadership positions at energy companies, including Enron and American Electric Power. In 2004, Greg joined EnergyTransfer. As Vice President of Governmental Affairs and Chief Compliance Officer, he was highly regarded in the industry. Employees and colleagues looked to Greg for his fairness, dedication and integrity, and also his intelligent, thoughtful, steady voice and counsel. Greg worked on many challenging and fulfilling projects and was pleased that the job he loved also gave him the opportunity to attend two gala events at the White House. Greg deeply admired his fellow employees and the leaders of EnergyTransfer, and received a high degree of satisfaction from his job. After retirement, Greg completed his Texas Master Naturalist certification, and thoroughly enjoyed days of hard work at Sheldon State Park. He was an active member of the Gulf Coast chapter and participated in numerous volunteer projects. He was a longtime volunteer at the Wildlife Center of Texas and helped care for and release hundreds of animals into the protected habitat of his Centerville property.
Greg is survived by his wife Marcy and cats Riley and Lucya; brothers Ken Brazaitis (Joanne), Phil Brazaitis (Carol), Chuck Brazaitis (Tracy); brother-in-law and “mechanic-on-call” Stan Adams (Jeri Ann); mother-in-law Ruth Ann Adams; niece Teresa Adams (Lee), nephew Jack Adams (Jessica), Brazaitis nieces and nephews Cheryl, Ginny, Jonathon, Craig, Corey, Alison, and Nick; numerous cousins and longtime dear friends with whom he shared many happy hours. Loved ones who went before him include his parents, his brother Jerry, and father-in-law Bailey Adams.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday March 26, at First Methodist Church Houston, 1320 Main St, Houston, TX 77002.
For any wishing to honor Greg’s memory, donations to Big Bend Conservancy, SPCA/Wildlife Center of Texas, or LMN Feline Rescue are greatly appreciated. Greg lived a blessed, faith based, full life, and was loved and respected by many. He touched many lives and made a difference to many of God’s creatures and His creation.

Rod Noonan - August 19, 1942 - June 20, 2021

Departed: 06/20/2021 (Humble)
Obituary Preview: Roderic "Rod" Vincent Noonan went home to Jesus on June 20, 2021 at age 78.
Rod was born to the Hon. Judge Gregory F. and Dorothea M. Noonan on August 19, 1942 in Manhattan, New York. Rod earned a BS from Providence College in Rhode Island in 1964.
Rod met his wife, Barbara in 1963 on a blind date hay ride in Boston, MA while they were in college. They married three years later on September 10, 1966 and were later blessed with three healthy children, Rod Jr., Mark and Suzanne. Rod and Barbara began their married life in Stamford, CT where Rod started his 10+ year career with Xerox. Rod’s career took the family on a journey living in IL, back to CT, NY and then a big move down south to Louisiana finally settling in Kingwood, TX. Yankees at heart, Rod and Barbara finally found their forever home! Rod would always joke that he felt like a "corporate gypsy".
In addition to being a dedicated and loving father, Rod's favorite place to be was on the water with his family. Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him. Rod would remind all of us the importance of having integrity and striving to be “Soldiers of Christ”. As a lifetime member of the NRA, he loved hunting, boating and most importantly, spending time and inspiring his six grandchildren. He never missed the opportunity to thank a Vet or buy lunch for a first responder. Rod was a servant of St. Martha’s Church and his mission and discovered passion was BJM(Between Job Ministries) where he taught and motivated others how to professionally market themselves. One of Rod’s gifts from God was to give others comfort and wisdom in preparing them for the next step in their careers. It truly brought him joy and peace when he would pray for his family, friends, fellow parishioners and our country every week during Adoration for the past 20 years of his life.
Rod retired last year from Employer Flexible where he was looked upon as a “mentor” to the three younger founders and always said that it was the BEST place he’d ever worked! He had a special place in his heart for the kids of St. Jude’s Hospital and our fallen heroes of Wounded Warriors.
Rod joins Hon. Judge Gregory F. Noonan, Dorothea M. Noonan and Gregory L. Noonan in Heaven. He is survived by wife Barbara Noonan, eldest son Roderic Noonan Jr., son Mark Noonan, daughter Suzanne Noonan Murphy, granddaughters Elena Noonan, Mackenzie Noonan, Ava Noonan & Savannah Murphy and grandsons Roderic Noonan III & Cullen Murphy and sisters Dorothea Baka and Denise Arendts. Psalm 48:41 “For this God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end.”
