Patrick Morris Meyer - September 25, 1944 - November 16, 2020

Departed: 11/16/2020 (Nashua)
Obituary Preview: Patrick Morris Meyer, 76, died on the evening of Monday, November 16, 2020, at Spaulding Hospital in Cambridge, Mass. He is the beloved husband of Joyce Anne (Krysiak) Meyer, with whom he traveled the world and cherished the comforts of home during fifty-two years of marriage.
Patrick was born in San Diego, Calif., on September 25, 1944, the son of the late Clarence and Margaret (Criswell) Meyer. In the mid-1950s, the family moved to the Rogue Valley region of Southern Oregon, where Patrick learned to hunt and fish with his brothers and formed an abiding love of the outdoors. Patrick graduated as salutatorian from Eagle Point High School in 1962 and entered the University of Oregon, where he became a proud member of the Delta Chi fraternity. Interrupting his studies to enlist in the United States Army, Patrick served in the Vietnam War with the 101st Airborne and earned numerous distinctions, including a Bronze Star Medal. After his tour of duty, he was stationed in Germany, where he and Joyce spent their first year of marriage in the town of Herzogenaurach and their son Stephen was born in 1969. Patrick was honorably discharged that year, having achieved the rank of captain.
Returning to the United States, Patrick and Joyce settled in Joyce’s hometown of Lowell, Mass., where their daughter Jennifer was born in 1974. Patrick completed his bachelor’s degree in history at Lowell State College and his master’s degree in education (with an emphasis in administration and supervision) at the University of Lowell. He continued his graduate work at Boston University, earning his CAGS in 1979.
Patrick was a career educator, whose professional achievements accrued from his tireless work ethic, his deep moral integrity, and his gift for encouraging and uplifting the work of his students, staff, and teachers. He began his career at Nashoba Regional High School, where he taught history and served as Media Lab Director for more than a decade. During these years, Patrick also cultivated a vibrant summer vegetable garden and played an active role in youth sports, instilling values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance as the coach of numerous football, basketball, soccer, and softball teams.
In 1988, Patrick and Joyce made the leap that altered the course of their lives when they took their first overseas teaching jobs at the Karachi American School in Pakistan. While Patrick began his time in Karachi as a civics teacher, his natural leadership skills quickly became apparent, and by the end of his tenure he had been promoted to Secondary School Principal. Meanwhile, a new world opened up, as Patrick and Joyce found their place among a community of expats who shared their commitment to education as well as their sense of adventure and willingness to immerse themselves in other cultures. In the coming years, their children joined them for exciting--and sometimes comical--expeditions in Egypt, Thailand, and Sri Lanka, among other places. Patrick and Joyce went on to live and work overseas for twenty-three years, building a network of friends and colleagues that spans the globe to this day. After Pakistan, Patrick continued to burnish his administrative credentials in Thailand, China, and Ukraine, and later served as the director of schools in Burkina Faso, Tunisia, and Zambia.
In retirement, Patrick and Joyce divided their time between Nashua and Paris while they continued to explore the world, traveling on their own and with family friends to Ireland, Antarctica, Peru, China, and other far-flung destinations. Perhaps the most meaningful of all these trips came in 2018, when Patrick and Joyce celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary by traveling through Germany with their children and grandchildren. Over the course of two weeks they revisited many of their old haunts, including the Army base and their first apartment in Herzogenaurach where it all began. Patrick loved nothing more than having his whole family together, and to see him at the head of the table at the Hofbräuhaus in Munich was to witness him at his happiest.
In addition to travel, Patrick was an avid theatergoer. He and Joyce were season ticketholders with the Merrimack Repertory Theatre and the Apollinaire Theatre Company, made annual pilgrimages to the Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Ore., and attended the Paris opera often.
Among the many pleasures of being at home in Nashua, Patrick enjoyed special bonds with a cohort of family pets, who were drawn to his innate gentleness and generosity with treats, and who took turns napping at his side. On fine summer days, he often fantasized about buying a convertible so he could cruise around in style with his granddogs, Faustus and Max.
Patrick’s most cherished time was spent with his family, to whom he gave everything: wise counsel, unwavering support, easygoing company, appreciation for simple pleasures, a bold vision of life’s possibilities, and unconditional love. Above all, Patrick was devoted to Joyce. He adored her from the night they met on a dance floor in 1966 and made sure she knew it every day until the very end. For his wife, children, and grandchildren, Patrick was a man of exceptional honesty and goodness. We were immensely proud of him and will miss him deeply.
In addition to his wife, Joyce, he is survived by his children, Stephen R. Meyer and his wife Erin Brown of Portland, Maine, and Jennifer K. Nelan and her husband Terence of Madbury, N.H.; his grandchildren, Zoe Meyer, Jacob Nelan, and Owen Nelan; and his brother Joseph Meyer and sister-in-law Nancy Meyer of Canby, Ore. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Patricia (Krysiak) Murphy and her husband Maurice Murphy of Westford, Mass.; his extended family, including Cecilia DiBella of Portsmouth, N.H., along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many dear friends.
Patrick was predeceased by his brothers, Michael, Daniel, and Timothy; his sisters, Theresa, Roberta, Patricia, and Kathleen; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Krysiak.

María de los Ángeles Cave - November 19, 1991 - November 14, 2020

Departed: 11/14/2020 (Nashua)
Obituary Preview: María de los Ángeles, 28, passed away unexpectedly on November 14th and was soon joined by her daughter Olivia Rose on November 18th. She is survived by her husband Matthew.
She was born in Río Bueno, Chile to Rosa Angelica Báez Garnica and Fabio Eliberto Uribe Gallardo. Her desire to always help others was apparent from a young age as she did what she could to help her friends and any animals she found as much as she could. This love of helping others resulted in her studying kinesiology and practicing physical therapy in college. Through her studies she helped a woman regain the ability to walk, among other things.
She also met her husband during her studies and would eventually drop out of school to move to the US to live with him. This meant starting over in school and in the workplace, but she was willing to make this sacrifice so that they could be together. This love then led to the announcement of Olivia Rose, who was expected to arrive on January 16th. Maria de los Ángeles was more excited about becoming a mom and sharing her love than anything else in the world and loved Olivia Rose so much. She intended to return to studying to become a nurse so that she could continue helping people while supporting her family.

Diane C. Healy - November 05, 1957 - October 06, 2020

Departed: 10/06/2020 (Nashua)
Obituary Preview: Diane Healy, 62 died peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born and raised in Nashua, NH and was the beloved daughter of the late Rita and Joseph Belanger who were founding members of St. Joseph Parish.
Diane was baptized at St. Joseph Parish in 1957 with her Godparents present, Lucille and Gerald Belanger, who were also founding members of the parish. She attended St. Joseph School on Lake Street for 8 years before attending Nashua High School. Upon graduation, Diane attended Hesser College where she earned an associate’s degree before going on to NH College where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, and then she earned her Master of Science Degree from Rivier College.
Diane began her career at BAE systems as a software engineer. After 20 years of after-hours calls and going into work in the wee hours of the morning, she transferred to the Engineering Tools and Services Department where she was a Senior Technical Support Analyst managing 20 million dollars in Software licenses. At work, she supported the Employee Participation Committee (one of her jobs is making popcorn every other Tuesday for the employees in her building); Employee Engagement Committee (which has functions that enable employees to interact with other employees they may not have met before); and the Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Dianewas also a trained First Responder.
Diane has been involved in the St. Joseph Parish since 1981 beginning with teaching Religious Education to the children of the parish after school. Following this, she began her outdoor ministry; she gardened at the church and rectory, decorated the rectory at Christmas time, and picked up the trash at the rectory. Diane was also responsible for instituting the recycling program at the church and rectory. Utilizing her technical background, she joined the Website Committee for which she posted the teachings for Bishop Christian on Facebook, posted the homily, and has recorded a special program series for the Parish website.
Diane was a proud Eucharistic Minister, she was involved with Outreach Communion, and Prayer leads at the 4 pm Mass. She was also involved with Mass Collections, is an Altar Server, and a Mass Greeter. In the community, Diane was a core group member of the Rivier Prayer Community and a member of SELA (The Spirit of Elijah Lay Apostolate). When the cafe at BAE was collecting money to feed the poor, Diane would purchase groceries and deliver them to the Salvation Army food pantry.
Diane has 5 rescue animals: a turtle, a bird, 3 rabbits and a cat. Shortly after Diane’s Mother went to heaven, she felt the house was too quiet, so she adopted a rabbit she called Buttercup. Buttercup would lie at her feet at night like a dog and has been a source of laughter and entertainment for Diane. Her latest rescue is a cat she named Otis. Otis was abused by a previous owner and after a full year of veterinary care, Otis is now back to being healthy. When Diane adopted Otis, he did not know how to play; however, seeing him now play with Buttercup is heartwarming. Otis continues to discover toys and how to play with them. In appreciation of Diane’s love and care, he would never be far from her when she was home.
In her spare time, Diane loved woodworking, art, writing, and gardening including two banana trees among her indoor plants. Diane liked to express herself artistically by taking outdoor elements like abandoned bee hives and bird nests to create art, centerpieces, and little scenes. Her favorite thing, however, was to spend time with family and she couldn’t wait to retire so she could spend even more time with them and continue to serve the community.
Our parish gratefully recognizes all that Diane has done and continues to do to build up God’s Kingdom  among us and we ask God’s blessings upon her and her loved ones.
Diane is survived by her three siblings, Paul Roger Belanger and his wife Sherry of Bath, SC, Andre Belanger and his wife Mary of Nashua, and Mary Alice Gagnon and her husband David of Chichester, NH; she is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends as well as her beloved cat, Otis.
