Obituary Preview: Mr. John Robert (Bobby) Hutcheson, age 89, passed away Monday, January 22, 2024.
Mr. Hutcheson was born in Rockmart, GA, on December 4, 1934, a son of the late Willard D. Hutcheson and Ludie Holder Hutcheson. He lived most of his life in Rockmart and was a 1953 Rockmart High School graduate. He retired from Goodyear Aerospace/Engineered Fabrics as the Shipping Department Supervisor. He then worked at Tip Top Poultry as a guard and courier.
He loved his family, his God, crossword puzzles, western novels, bowling and traveling.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Shepherd, brothers, William Marion Hutcheson and Willard (Billy) Hutcheson, and daughter-in-law, Beverly Hutcheson.
Bobby is survived by three children, Robert Carey Hutcheson, Robbie Burton (Lonnie) and Rhonda Mihalik (Bob); stepson, Randy Lee; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Mr. Hutcheson’s wishes, he will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

William Smithey Fawcett - February 17, 1932 - January 21, 2024

Obituary Preview: Mr. William Smithey Fawcett, age 91, of Newnan, GA, and formerly of Rockmart passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024.
Mr. Fawcett was born on February 17 ,1932 in Winchester, VA. William was retired from Delta, where he worked in avionics for many years. He was in the United States Army and bravely served during the Korean War. Mr. Fawcett lived in Miami for several years before moving to Rockmart. He was a resident of Rockmart for 10 years and then moved to Newnan in 2015. William enjoyed working in his yard and gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian Dale Fawcett; son-in-law, David Duncan and three sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife, Angeline Flowers Fawcett; daughter, Bonnie Duncan and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Fawcett will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Warriner officiating. Interment will follow the service at Polk Memory Gardens with Brown-Wight Post #12 American Legion Honor Guard in charge of military graveside rites.

Bruce Vernon Fennell, Sr. - August 18, 1959 - January 21, 2024

Obituary Preview: Mr. Bruce Vernon Fennell, Sr., age 64, of Rockmart GA, passed away Sunday evening, January 21, 2024, in a Rome, GA, hospital.
Bruce` was born in Rockmart on August 18, 1959, son of the late Lloyd Vernon Fennell and Nettie Hulsey Fennell. He had lived all his life in Rockmart and was a member of Springdale Baptist Church. Bruce was a heavy equipment operator with Thompson Grading and enjoyed tinkering with cars. He was an avid outdoorsman who really enjoyed hunting and spending time with his dog, Rebel.
Bruce is survived by his son, Bruce Fennell, Jr.; step-daughter, Nikki Brock; sister, Pamela (David) Moore; two nieces, Amanda (Jason) Beverly, and Lauren (Dusty) Ellington; one nephew, David (Jennifer) Sollenberger, Jr. Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
Memorial services for Bruce will be held on Friday evening, January 26, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Leggett officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Springdale Baptist Church Cemetery.
Bruce’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Friday from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m.
Bruce’s family requests casual attire be worn by those attending, especially camo attire if possible.

Obituary Preview: Mrs. Betty Sue Garner, age 81, of Taylorsville, GA, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024.
Mrs. Garner was born on June 21, 1942 in Rockmart, GA, a daughter of the late William Daniel Smith and Lillian Akins Smith. Betty spent the greater part of her life in Polk County and worked as a beautician for many years. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening and sewing.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Robert Garner; sister, Inez Roberson and brother, Sonny Smith.
She is survived by her three children: Rhonda Blissitt, Valerie Wright and Melanie Savieo; many grandchildren; siblings: Rachel (Jimmy) Deems, Martha Milligan, Harvey "Snook" (Linda) Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Garner will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brent Edwards and Brother Billy Ward officiating. Interment will follow the service at Beulahland Baptist Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be the following gentlemen: Kenneth Smith, Scotty Smith, Brian Smith, Logan Deems, William "Monk" Hindman, Kipp Frady and Cody Blissitt.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.

Obituary Preview: Mr. Marvin E. Fuqua, age 84, of Cave Spring, GA, and formerly of Rockmart passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024.
Marvin was born on July 30, 1939 in Cartersville, GA and was the son of the late: Elvin Clifford Fuqua and Emma Smith Fuqua. He lived the greater part of his life in Rockmart and retired from General Motors, where he worked over 30 years. He served in the United States Army and was in the 101st Airborne Division. Marvin was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eloise Fuqua; brothers: Ralph, Jim and Ed and sisters: Troy, Lucille and Eunice.
Mr. Fuqua is survived by his son, Tony Fuqua; three grandchildren: Tyler, Taylor, and Tayte; great-grandchildren: Hayden, Lilly and Brystal; brother, Clifford Fuqua and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Following the visitation, Mr. Fuqua will be cremated and Memorial Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Rose Hill Cemetery at 2:00 PM with Rev. Joey Davidson officiating and Brown- Wright Post 12 American Legion providing military rites.

Mary Evelyn Cochran Loyd - March 18, 1940 - January 16, 2024

Obituary Preview: Mrs. Mary Evelyn Cochran Loyd, age 83, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at her residence.
Mrs. Loyd was born in Taylorsville, GA, on March 18, 1940, a daughter of the late Claude Allen Cochran and Texana Dudley Cochran. She had lived all her life in Taylorsville and Rockmart and was a housewife and homemaker. Mrs. Loyd was a member of Second Baptist Church of Rockmart. She was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed crafts, working in her yard with flowers, was an excellent cook, and cherished the time she spent keeping her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Loyd was preceded in death by her husband, Benny G. Loyd, on April 20, 2014, whom she married November 9, 1957. Two brothers, Harold Cochran and Wendell Cochran, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Loyd is survived by two daughters, Diane (Doug) Gage, and Lori (Tommie) Russell; two sons, Danny Loyd and Jeff (Layne) Loyd; grandchildren, Amanda (Todd) Cooper, Heather (Russ) Mines, Jennifer Presley, Brad Loyd, Brandon (Hayley) Loyd, Kevin (Ashley) Loyd, Luke (Jessie) Jones, Lauren (David) Wu, Sarah Gage, and Aden Jiles. Twenty-six great-grandchildren with one on the way, three great-great-grandchildren, a special daughter, Teresa Krawiec, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Loyd will be Friday, January 19, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church with Rev. David Warriner officiating. Eulogies will be delivered by family members. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens with Rev. Eddy Hughes officiating.
Mrs. Loyd’s family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will include Brad Loyd, Brandon Loyd, Luke Jones, Bailey Cooper, Chandler Cooper, and Kevin Loyd.

Veronda was born in Dalton, GA on August 7, 1968, daughter of Linda Sue Summerville Rainey and the late Vernon Lee Rainey. She had lived the greater part of her life in Haralson County where she was a 1987 graduate of Haralson County High School. Veronda was a member of Mt. Zion East Baptist Church, and she loved to sing and play gospel music.
Survivors include her daughter, Holly (Lee) Layman; son, Clint Jordan Shoemaker; husband of thirty-seven years, Bobby Shoemaker; mother, Sue (Richard) Head; five brothers: Keith Rainey, Greg Rainey, Allen Dunn, Jeff Dunn, and Heath Dunn; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, January 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion East Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Teal officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at Mt. Zion East Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will include Keith Rainey, Greg Rainey, Allen Dunn, Jeff Dunn, Heath Dunn, Dustin Rainey, and Morgan Dunn.

Daniel was born in Rockmart on February 18, 1958, son of the late Joe Wright Moody and Pearl Davis Moody. He had lived all his life in Rockmart and enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles. Daniel loved his family, was an humble and easy-going man who had lots of friends.
In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by two sisters, Diane Moody Jackson, and Debbie Patricia Wilson, and three nephews, Tyler Jackson, Cody Wilson, and Sparky Wilson.
Daniel is survived by a brother, David Moody; nieces Tonia Brock, Georgia Robinson, and Nacole Addison, and Autumn Kendall; nephews, Adam Jackson, Jesse Jackson, Adrian Currie, James Wilson, and Deric Wilson.
In keeping with his wishes, Daniel will be cremated, and no formal services are planned at this time.

Tommy was born on January 18, 1961, a son of the late Arthur Doyl “Tom” Akins and Minnie Lee Godfrey Akins. He had lived all his life in Polk County and enjoyed collecting arrowheads and playing horseshoes. Tommy was known as the caretaker of all his family.
In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Akins, two sisters, Nancy Holliday and Brenda Akins, and a niece, Kimberly Powell Williams.
Tommy is survived by nieces, Jessica Sanders, Bessie (David) Hudson, and Krissy (Nick) Merva; special great-niece, Braylee Watkins; great-nephew, Nick Gibbs; extended family, Barbara and Glenn Dodd, Linda Childers, Rita and Curtis Sanders, Makayla Coleman, Kynleigh Russell, Holly Stahl, and Brody Amos.
In keeping with his wishes, Tommy will be cremated, and no formal service is planned at this time.
Memorial donations in Tommy’s memory may be made to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.

Marie McWhorter Butler - April 02, 1924 - January 14, 2024

Obituary Preview: Marie McWhorter Butler, 99, of Dallas, Ga., passed away peacefully on January 14, 2024. She was born April 2, 1924 in Chattanooga, Tn., moving to Cedartown, Ga., at age nine with her parents, Thomas Anderson Willingham, Sr. and Annie Lee Mooney Willingham, who predeceased her. She is also preceded in death by her husband Roy R. Butler, Jr., brother T.A. Willingham, Jr., and sister-in-law Elizabeth Willingham. She also will be missed by many cousins and close family friends to whom Marie was another “aunt” or “grandmother” figure.
Marie’s career spanned over 40 years at various corporations, including Campbell Coal Co., Peavy Concrete Products Co. and Lorilland. She retired after two decades with The Dow Chemical Company.
She was an active, long-time member of Sandy Springs United Methodist Church and the Joy Sunday School class. Most recently she served as a member of First Baptist Church in Rockmart, Ga.
Marie will be remembered for her kindness, gentle spirit and sweet Southern charm. She never forgot a birthday and was still sending cards to friends and family at nearly 100 years old.
Funeral services for Marie will be held Sunday afternoon, January 21, 2024 at 3:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Rockmart with Rev. Jason Odom and Dr. David Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 pm until the funeral hour at First Baptist Church.

She was born in Princeton, KY on February 15, 1940, a daughter of the late Stella Violet Williams Patterson. Mary moved here in 1960 and met her husband, David two months later. She was a veteran of the United States Navy where she served as a nurse. She enjoyed word puzzles and anything John Wayne.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, David Clifton Haney; three children, Davey Haney, Greg Haney, and Scott Haney; step-daughter, Diane Bettis; step-grandson, John Thomas Bettis; and granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Haney.
Survivors include her children, Lynn Haddock, Jon Haney (Penny), and Jason Haney-Wright (Jimmy Wright); many grandchildren also survive.
Private graveside services were held.

Margaret Marie Hebert - August 02, 1942 - January 12, 2024

Obituary Preview: Margaret Marie Hebert born August 2, 1942 and passed away January 12, 2024 at the young age of 81. She was surrounded by her family at home. Margaret was born in Houma Louisiana and lived most of her life in a small community named Bayou Blue, where she raised her 6 kids. She moved to Rockmart Georgia in 2018 where she spent the rest of her life. No Funeral Services will be given at her request.
Margaret survived by her 6 children: Theresa Briggs of Houma, Lula McElroy of Leesville, Cleo Hebert (Suzette Hebert) of Houma, Pierre Hebert ( Robecca Hebert) of Rockmart, Heidi Pearson (Timothy Pearson JR) of Raceland, and Jacob Hebert of Houma. Her loving Grandchildren: Lisa Marie, Emilio, Tommy, Vincent, Kerry, Richard, Amber, Lindsey, Timothy III, Sierra, Michelle, Marissa, Tabitha and Samantha. She has 2 living siblings, Florence Bijeaux and Ernest Hebert (Dianna). Many great grandchildren and her loving and loyal dog Molly.
Margaret preceded into death by her Husband, Ernest “Brother” Hebert, her parents Stella & Arceneau “Jack” Hebert, 3 siblings Edward Hebert, Clay Hebert and Betty Daigle.
Margaret was a hard working women. She spent most of her life as a CNA until she retired in 2002. She loved her grandkids more than anything in this world and she will be greatly missed. We would like to thank Pruitt Hospice for the loving care they have given us during the last few years of her life.

In addition to her parents, Nicole was preceded in death by a son, James Taylain Drake Davenport, and her grandmothers, Carolyn Crocker and Shirley Smith.
Nicole is survived by three children, Kadence Davenport, Eli Whorton, and Raylen Proctor; three sisters, Christina Harvey, Star Wiggins, and Ashley Fuller. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside and interment services for Nicole will be Saturday afternoon, January 13, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. in Northview Cemetery with Rev. Michael Sam Edwards and Rev. Jerome Smith officiating.

Chucky was born in Rome on March 7, 1981, the son of Lillie Jacobs and the late Edward Lee Waters. He had lived the greater part of his life in Polk County and was of the Holiness faith. Chucky was a self-employed construction worker who was always helping others and would give you the shirt off his back. He enjoyed driving his Big Rig and loved spending time with his children.
Chucky was preceded in death by his father, Alton Lamar Proctor, a brother, Christopher Lamar Proctor, a sister, Ashley Nicole Proctor, grandmothers, Sudie Cumbaa and Nona Proctor, grandfathers, C.W. Jacobs, Carl Clifton Cumbaa and Sonny Proctor.
Chucky is survived by his wife, Michelle McEntire Jacobs; four daughters, Heather Jacobs, Haley Jacobs, Cheynne Jacobs, and Whitney Jacobs; two sons, Cody Eugene Jacobs, and Remmington Lamar Jacobs; mother, Lillie Proctor; four sisters, Christy Waters, Brook Proctor, Ruby Proctor, and Nicole Proctor; brothers, Jason Proctor, Travis Proctor, Dustin Proctor, and Joshua Proctor. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Mary is survived by her loving children: Vickey Atkins and Stanley of Rockmart, GA; Rodney Robinson and his wife, Carol of Marietta, GA, Barry Robinson and his wife, Connie of Acworth, GA, Pam Toney and her husband, Michael of Tampa, FL, Tyrone Robinson and Penny Moore of Rockmart, GA, sisters: Merina Sanders of Rome, GA, Joyce Courtney of Marietta, GA, and brother, Goldin Sanders and his wife, Sue of Cedartown, GA; grandchildren: Amy Fuller and her husband, Keith, Griff Atkins and his wife, Nikki of Rockmart, GA, Shayne Robinson of Marietta, GA, Kristin Sockwell and her husband, Michael of Woodstock, GA, Jonathan Robinson and his wife, Elizabeth of Kennesaw, GA, Brittney Woods and her husband, Rob of Dallas, GA, Adam Parks and his wife, Holly of Canton, GA; 15 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary S. Robinson will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Butch Tant and Brother Melton Moss officiating. Interment will follow the service at Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be the following gentlemen: Shayne Robinson, Jonathan Robinson, Adam Parks, Cal Fuller, Bailey Atkins and Connor Robinson.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 13, 2023 from 12:00 PM until the service hour.

Phillip was born in Decatur, GA, on April 4, 1957, son of the late Walter Reagin Mills and Patricia Ann Morgan Mills. He had spent the greater part of his life in Newnan, GA, moving to Aragon a year and a half ago. Phillip was of the Baptist faith and loved woodworking and adored reading.
In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his wife, Marilynn Cordell Mills.
Phillip is survived by a son, Phillip Mills, Jr.; siblings, Victoria Rikicki, Wendy Sanchez, Patricia (Donlan) Mills, and Walter Reagan Mills, Jr.. Several grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
In keeping with his wishes, Phillip will be cremated, and no formal services are scheduled at this time.

Barbara Atha - July 30, 1934 - January 06, 2024

Obituary Preview: Barbara Beatrice O’Dell Atha, 89, of Rockmart, Georgia, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2023. Born in Gillsville, Georgia she grew up in the Johnson and Johnson Mill village in Chicopee, Ga, just outside of Gainesville. She graduated from Gainesville High School. In her senior year of high school, she met the love of her life, John Atha.
After high school, Barbara attended nursing school at Crawford Long School of Nursing in Atlanta,GA. At that time, nurses in training were not allowed to be married, so in 1954, Barbara and John were secretly married in Walhalla, South Carolina. John served in the US Air Force while Barbara finished Nursing School.
After Barbara completed nursing school, the couple moved to Athens, Ga. Barbara worked full time at St Mary’s Hospital while John studied PreMed at the University of Georgia. In 1966, after Medical school and residency, they settled in Rockmart, Ga where John practiced medicine for 40 years, with Barbara’s support. Together, they raised 5 children - Donna, Karen, Ben, Walter and Tommy.
Barbara was an active member of Rockmart Presbyterian Church for many years. She filled in at John's office as a Registered Nurse, and volunteered for the American Red Cross blood drives , eventually earning her American Red Cross service pin.
Barbara encouraged and supported each of her children to pursue their dreams and aspirations. She loved to paint, and won several awards for her artwork. From Bible study to bridge games, to attending ballgames, dance recitals and musical performances, she was known for her stories, jokes and infectious laugh.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Atha, her parents, B.F. and Gladys O’Dell, her sister, Wilmanell Bryan, and her great-granddaughter Stella Rose Weller.
She is survived by her sisters, Patsy (George) Griffin and Jackie (Randall ) Smallwood, by her children, Donna (Mitch) Davitte, Karen (Kelly) Lynn, Ben (Tracy) Atha, Walt (Joe) Atha, and Tommy (Cathe) Atha, and by ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon, January 8, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Rockmart Presbyterian Church with Rev. Maryellen Hittel and Rev. Joe Brice officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour at the Rockmart Presbyterian Church.
Pallbearers will include Mitch Davitte, Kelly Lynn, Tommy Atha, Drew Weller, Joe Cherneski, Paul Knickerbocker, and Cody Ralston.
In memory of Barbara's life, donations may be made to Rockmart Presbyterian Church.

Marie worked with Arby’s restaurant and was an avid University of Auburn Tigers fan. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her mother, Marie was preceded in death by an aunt, Del Turner.
Marie is survived by two sons, C.J. (Kala) Poole, and Luke Dunn; two grandchildren, Ezra and Jupiter Poole; father, Danny Poole; fiancé, David Galloway.
Funeral services for Marie will be Tuesday evening, January 9, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Cordell officiating.

James Lee Griggs - August 19, 1926 - January 05, 2024

Obituary Preview: Mr. James Lee Griggs, age 97, of Rockmart, GA passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 in a Rome medical center. Mr. Griggs was born in Cartersville, GA on August 19, 1926 a son of Hubert J. Griggs and Clara Meeks Griggs. He was a member of the Bethel Crossroads Baptist Church and was a proud veteran of the United States Army joining in December of 1944 and served in World War II. After returning home from service he married the love of his life, Inez Hulsey Griggs and have been celebrating life together for the past 76 years. James was a mechanic and had worked for the John Rogers Company, Clark equipment Company and retired as a master mechanic with the Georgia Power Company. He enjoyed farming, had owned and operated a gas station and was a licensed auctioneer. He was a member of John W. Akin Masonic Lodge # 537 F. & A.M. and the Brown-Wright Post #12 of the American Legion
Mr. Griggs loved tinkering with old tractors, fishing, attending homecoming singings at church, working in his garden, shelling pecans and preserving pears from the trees that he planted. He also loved his fur baby Tinkerbell. James was a hard working man who loved to stay busy. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and enjoyed watching football and NASCAR Racing. Some of his happiest times, that he looked forward to and enjoyed the most was having his family and friends at the table filled with a feast of food on Thanksgiving and Christmas, this brought him joy and created many special memories for all.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his oldest son, James Lamar (Jimmy) Griggs and by a brother, J.D. Griggs.
He is survived by his loving wife, Inez Hulsey Griggs; son, Phil Griggs and his wife, Debbie; daughter in law, Lois Griggs; grandchildren: Chris, Dena, Charles and Christine; great grandchildren: Logan, Bodee, Rachel, Dakota, Christopher and Abigail; great-great grandchildren, Emmie and Sawyer; sister, Sara Brownlow; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Dempsey officiating and eulogies given by Mike Brownlow and Sam Ingram. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors delivered by the Honor Guard of Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion. Masonic graveside rites will be delivered by the John W. Akin Masonic Lodge # 537 F. & A.M..

After several different jobs in various companies through the years, Mrs. White retired from MuRata Electronics after 30 years in Administrative, Supervision, and IT areas.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Forrest Eugene White, on August 22, 2007; a son, Mark Eugene White on November 17, 2006; two brothers, Vernon Whiteside in August 1976, and James Whiteside in May 2010; a grandson, Eric Eugene White on December 14, 2014.
Mrs. White is survived by one son, Timothy Paul White and his wife, Renita, of Antioch; daughter-in-law, Peggy White of Rockmart; one grandson, Trent White of Chattanooga, TN; two granddaughters, Kipsy Prewett and her husband Kevin, of Calhoun, GA, and Bragan White-Mikle and her husband, Daniel, of Acworth, GA; two great-granddaughters, Rebecca Barnette and her husband, Mason, and Melanie Argo; three great-grandsons, Rylan and Kasen White and Daxton Mikle; one great-great-grandson, Elijah Barnette.

Mr. Byars was a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ and also was instrumental in starting the Emerald Beach Church of Christ in Panama City, FL. He loved to golf and go fishing and was an avid University of Georgia fan.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Byars was preceded in death by a son, Craig Edwards Byars, on March 15, 2018.
Mr. Byars is survived by his wife, Ann Jones Byars, whom he married June 18, 1960; two daughters, Sherrie Byars Warren (Johnny), and Julie Byars Folsom (Frankie); son, Jason Byars (Heidi); grandchildren, Rachael Warren (John), Jacob Warren, Joshua Warren (Estella), Cody Folsom (Cody), Carly Folsom, Gabrielle Byars, Zayne Byars, and Haydee Byars; great-grandchildren, Aleigha, Silas, Olivia, Jameson, Lazer, Josiah, Wyatt, and Waylon; brother, Clayton Byars (Lancie); sister, Virginia LeRoy. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
