Dale Edward Feese - August 13, 1941 - March 04, 2022

Departed: 03/04/2022 (Catawissa)
Obituary Preview: Dale Edward Feese, 80, of Catawissa, passed away on March 4, 2022, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief illness.
The son of Joyous (Fetterman) and Austin Feese, Dale was born on August 13, 1941. He graduated from Southern Columbia High School in 1961, where he enjoyed athletics, made lifelong friends, and met the woman he devoted his life to, Donna Jean (Stewart) Feese.
Dale and Donna were married on August 7, 1966, at the Christ United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Catawissa, where Dale remained a member for the rest of his life. Dale and Donna shared fifty-five years of marriage, leaving a legacy of three children with their loving companions, and 9 grandchildren.
Dale was the owner and operator of Dale’s Market in Slabtown from 1974-1984. He was proud to welcome Ideal Park patrons and his Valley neighbors, providing them with the freshly cut meat for their family dinners. Dale often recalled the favorite part of his job – when children would come to pick out their new sneakers, he loved the excitement on their faces when they chose their newest Chuck Taylors or Olympic Blues.  Upon selling the store, Dale became a loyal 20year employee of Magee Industries, retiring in 2004.
Dale’s greatest joy came from being surrounded by the people he loved the most. He relished the time he spent with his family, his brothers, Jim and Rich, and his lifelong friends. He enjoyed family get-togethers at picnics (watching generations of friendships being made), coaching RCV baseball, being a Scout Leader, participating in Annual Quoit Tournaments, and playing friendly poker games. Dale was very appreciative of the crew’s final card game together.
Dale could be found in many local auditoriums, gyms, and fields – from Southern Columbia, to Lourdes, to Danville. Pap was always recognizable due to his “preferred seating”, and the kids and their friends were happy to see him there.  Dale loved supporting his children and grandchildren in all their pursuits: academic, athletic, and artistic.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard. Dale will be missed dearly and forever be remembered by those who survive him: loving wife and devoted wife, Donna; Son, Todd (Amy) Feese, grandchildren Riley, Jacob, Caroline, and Corinne; Son, Brad (Brenda) Feese, grandchildren, Brady, Braylon; Daughter, Lori (Chris) Coombe, grandchildren Clara, Nolan, and Carter; Brother, Jim (Gail)Feese; Sisters and Brothers-in-Law and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held Friday March 18, 2022 at 11:00 am at Christ United Evangelical Lutheran Church, 116 Church St., Catawissa with Rev. Gordon Smith officiating. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service at the church.

Lucille Virginia Faux - October 01, 1925 - March 03, 2022

Departed: 03/03/2022 (Catawissa)
Obituary Preview: On Thursday afternoon, March 3, 2022, Lucille Virginia Faux – 96 - of Catawissa passed away peacefully at her home and is now reunited in eternal jubilee with all the family and friends from her youth who were waiting with open arms to embrace her.  Born on October 1, 1925, in Catawissa to the late Roy and Irene (Davis) Linn, Lucille was the youngest of their four children and only daughter. Family legend is that she was named after a loose heel on a shoe.  Her father Roy was a cobbler, who repaired and refurbished shoes for a living and later in life worked as a custodian at the Catawissa School. She resided at her current address since 1964 and was a lifelong resident of Catawissa and member of the Christ United Evangelical Lutheran Church. Prior to her passing, Lucille was recognized by the town’s mayor as Catawissa’s oldest resident.
A graduate of Catawissa High School, class of 1943, she married her husband, the late Raymond (Juny) Faux, Jr. of Catawissa, in Meridian, Mississippi on February 5, 1951. Her husband served in the U.S. Army in World War II and in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.  Prior to his passing in 2002, they had celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. Lucille and Raymond shared a love of antiques and their dogs.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was proceeded in death by her beloved brothers Marvin Linn and his wife Alice (Martin), Walter Linn and his wife Althea (Yocum), and Robert (Bob) Linn and his wife Sophie(Nazarchyk), and a niece Victoria (Linn) McHenry-Pheasant. Lucille and her brothers stayed close throughout their lives.  She was her brothers’constant source of sisterly love and bedevilment.
Like many young women in town, Lucille started her working career at the Regal Shirt Factory in Catawissa.  She then became a teacher’s aide atthe Southern Columbia Area School District. Prior to retirement, her last place of employment was Geisinger Medical Center in Patient Transport. Like her father Roy, Lucille was known to have a keen sense of humor. She enjoyed entertaining members of the Catawissa Senior Center in character as the Easter Bunny, Mrs. Claus, and Mae West.  Lucille will be remembered most for her unique spirit and unbridled love for her family and friends.  An ancient Proverb says that “if a family has an old person in it, it possesses a jewel.”  She was our diamond in the rough!  She was matriarch to the younger generations of her family and a wellspring of nostalgic memories that all those who knew her will cherish forever. Lucille was our link between the bygone generations and her presence in our lives was the inheritance of our family’s soul.
Lucille was the last member of her immediate family and the sole member who was blessed to have lived long enough to meet its youngestgeneration. She is survived by her nephews Michael Linn and wife Roxann, Catawissa, and Joseph Faux and wife Pamela of Montoursville. Nieces Joanne (Linn) and husband, Terry Blass, Catawissa, and Diane (Linn) and husband Charles Barnes, Mifflinville. Great nephews include Daniel McHenry, Danville; Kirby Blass and his wife Erica (Young), La Plata, MD; Bret Huss, Danville. Great nieces Jennifer (Barnes) and husband Brian Krainski, Bloomsburg; Julie (Barnes) and husband Millard Shum, Stafford, VA; Alison (Blass) and husband Andrew Devine, Catawissa; Nicole (Linn) and husband Fergus Stiles, Pottsville; Sarah (Linn) and husband Brian Derr, Mountain Top. Great-great nephews, Henry and Simon, sons of Kirby and Erica Blass. Great-great nieces, Kennedy and Kelsey, daughters of Alison and Andrew Devine.
The family is eternally grateful for the wonderful friends and neighbors who regularly visited and called Lucille, her compassionate caregivers Diane, Kim, and Roger, and the staff of Geisinger Home and Hospice.
A celebration of life will be held Friday March 11, 2022 at 11:00 am at Christ United Evangelical Lutheran Church, 116 Church St, Catawissa with Rev. Gordon Smith officiating. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Hillside Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are welcome to be made to Christ United Evangelical Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.

Eleanor Ann Miller - March 18, 1935 - February 04, 2022

Departed: 02/04/2022 (Catawissa)
Obituary Preview: Eleanor Ann Miller, 86, of Numidia passed away peacefully at Emmanuel Nursing and Rehabilitation in the presence of her loving daughters, Susan and Linda, on Feb. 4, 2022. The daughter of Anthony and Anna (Chupailo) Doraski, Eleanor was born March 18, 1935, on the family’s farm in Catawissa.
Eleanor attended McIntyre School.
She met her late husband, George E. Miller of Numidia, at Springbrook Park skating rink. They married in 1957.
Eleanor’s first job as a seamstress was with a shirt factory, Emenee Manufacturing. She left there to join Milco Industries, where she quickly became front and center as the Union President of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers’ Union and landed on the front page of the Press Enterprise, leading the way of a union workers’ strike. A 44-year career said everything about Eleanor and her value system of hard work. It was her sacrifice to ensure that she and George sent their daughters to private colleges and graduate schools with no college loans.
Eleanor’s “chutzpah” was not only at work. It was how she lived her life. She was known far and wide “in the valley” for her cooking, canning and baking. Her home became a stop-by for many, with coffee and goodies always part of the visit. Food was her manifestation of love for all who visited, and she even took to making vegetarian recipes for her daughters.
Eleanor and George were quite the team in growing their “truck patch.” From the well-kept garden, she did canning and freezing on a grand scale — salsa, pickles, tomato sauce, peaches, jellies, and more. The process started at the peak of the season and ended with the first frost.
Eleanor had such a competitive spirit and it showed in her love of sports. The Marks family — John, Jerry, Josh and Blake — gave her the thrill of local sports from football, to baseball, to wrestling. She attended games, watched them on TV, and listened on the radio. And the Phillies and the Eagles were her pro teams. She knew the players, the rules and the moves. And you could not speak to her during a game as she was completely engaged.
Eleanor was a woman who loved and honored traditions. For each of the holidays, there was a special marker, whether it be her mountains of homemade Christmas cookies or the blessing of the Easter basket at church. Every holiday had its tradition.
Eleanor continued her outings with her daughters and her sister, Cookie, and husband John. While she deeply missed the “apple of her eye”, George, it did not keep her at home.
Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Susan M. Miller (Michael Steven Ruckert), of Woodbine, Maryland, and Linda K. Miller (Cathy Cieslinski) of Mount Joy. Eleanor is survived by her sisters, Cecilia “Cookie” Marks, Pat Abraczinskas and Lucy DeFelice.
Eleanor was predeceased by her sisters, Teresa Welkom, Irene Lukus, Josephine Pollock and Pearl Makowski. A viewing will be Friday, Feb. 11, 2022, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, at 10:30 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 304 Slabtown Road, Catawissa, with Father Dennis G. Dalessandro officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Numidia. Friends unable to attend may send condolences to allenrhornefuneralhome.com
Contributions in memory of Eleanor may be made to The Emmanuel Center, 11 Schoolhouse Road, Danville, PA 17821. Please direct to the attention of the Activities Department or the Nursing Department; or to Our Lady of Mercy Church, 304 Slabtown Road, Catawissa, PA 17820.
Susan and Linda would especially like to acknowledge the gracious and amazing care of the staff at The Emmanuel Center during Mom’s stay. It truly became her home.
The Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Catawissa, is handling arrangements.

She loved shopping, especially for clothes, and enjoyed visitors. In all her dealings and interactions she never forgot the people who helped her grow. “Ginnie” had a generous, giving heart, and an infectious laugh.
