Gridley, 103, of Keithsburg, Illinois died Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Mercer Manor, Aledo. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 12th at Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg. Memorials may be left for Keithsburg Fire Department. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is handling arrangements. Helen was born May 8, 1920 in Millersburg, Illinois a daughter of Clair and Dorothy Wilhite Wakeland. On June 12, 1937 she married Carlyle Gridley in Aledo, Illinois. They were married until his passing on January 16, 1987. Over the years, Helen cleaned houses in the Keithsburg area. She had a green thumb, and loved flowers and plants. Those left to cherish her memory are her son: Jack (Sherry) Gridley; grandchildren: Randy (Darcy) Smith, Bill (Tammy) Willits, Robin (RJ) Redpath, Kelly Gridley, and Colette (Brad) Sunken; great grandchildren: Heath (Dora) Smith, Jordan (Kim Johnson) Smith, Taylor (Tyler) Schmidt, Vanessa (Jake) Schulenberg, Victoria Redpath, Grant Redpath, Aaron (Marissa) Willits, Logan (Claire) Willits, Jordan (Erin) Willits, and Ryan Gridley; great great grandchildren: Nieko, Nolan, Gentry, Lane, Cullen, Hattie, Sadie, Kyler, and Sutton; and twin sisters: Marna Wilson and Marilyn Knox. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter and son-in-law: Gretchen and Bunk Smith, and siblings: Wayne, Betty, Evelyn, Dorothy Jean, Elaine, and Buck.

Obituary Preview: Betty L. Johnson, 87, of Aledo, Illinois died Friday, November 3, 2023 at Mercer Manor, Aledo. Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 9th at Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimers Association. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is assisting the family. Betty Lou was born March 24, 1936 in Aledo, Illinois the daughter of Everett and Lura Rausch Thompson. She graduated from Aledo High School. On June 4, 1953, she married Lloyd Ellis Johnson in Aledo. They were married for 67 years until he passed on May 26, 2021. Betty retired from Contel Telephone, she started working there as a secretary and later promoted to work in telephone/equipment repair. In her free time she enjoyed crocheting, reading books, painting, traveling, and taking rides on country roads. Her greatest joy was time spent with family. Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Steve (Stephanie) Johnson and Carla Peterson-Center; grandchildren: Nikki, Jessie, Brian, and Jennifer; 3 great grandchildren; and sister: Carole Hildebrant. She was preceded in death by her father: Everett Thompson, mother: Lura Holton, husband: Lloyd , grandson: Nathan, and brother: Everett.
