Departed: 04/13/2021 (Albuquerque)
Obituary Preview: Guillermina "Mina" Salgado is remembered by all who knew her for her love and loyalty of those she cherished. Her love of family, her love of friends, her love of her fur baby Bella, her love of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and her love of the NY Yankees. And yes, those are listed in order.
If you were lucky enough to be in her circle of trust, you could count on having a lifetime of support and a great, caring person to be on your side. Mina was not obsessed with wealth, but if she were to count all the respect and love of those, she cared about she would be the richest person in the room.
Mina will be greatly missed by all her family, friends, and Bella. She is survived by her 6 sisters, 1 brother, 3 God children, and a ridiculously large amount of nephews, nieces and cousins.

James "Jim" Clay McCampbell - April 02, 1961 - February 18, 2021

Departed: 02/18/2021 (Albuquerque)
Obituary Preview: James Clay “Jim” McCampbell of Artesia, New Mexico passed away on Thursday, February 18th, 2021 at UNM Hospital in Albuquerque, NM.
Jim is survived by a younger brother, Eric McCampbell and wife, Theresa; a younger sister, Laura McCampbell-Maxwell and husband, Jim, as well as four children: Ian and Ethen Watts, and Jubal and Shawnee McCampbell, and seven beautiful grandchildren: Bianka, Anniyah, Madison, Genisaie, Raelin, Roman and Jonah, all of whom he was very proud of.
Jim was born on April 2nd, 1961 in Lubbock, Texas to Barba and Jerry Don McCampbell, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a spitfire who always had to cause mischief anywhere he went, it was his belief that life just isn’t any fun without a little chaos, and he will be remembered and dearly missed by those who enjoyed his antics. Jim was known for his confidence, never afraid to say what was on his mind. He was also lovingly crowned ‘King of Useless Knowledge’ by his family, though they always called him when they had a random question, often claiming that it was faster to call Dad for the answer than it was to just 'Google it'. Jim was also the resident 'taste-tester' of any food prepared in the house and was more than proud to hold that title.
Jim never went anywhere unless he was armed with his favorite baby-pink pocketknife and made sure his kids were never without one as well. He was an involved father, from teaching his children firearm safety to ensuring that his kids maintained their hobbies proudly and diligently. He enjoyed teaching his family to thrive in the great outdoors, taking them fishing and hunting, and teaching them how to start a fire and build a shelter when necessary, Jim always made sure his kids were prepared for the worst that this world had to offer. Jim also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing multiple musical instruments, and telling stories about his childhood memories with his mamaw and papaw. He always said those memories with his grandparents were the happiest times of his life; his children plan to recall these stories with their own children one day. Jim was full of life lessons that the people around him will remember forever. Jim’s children take great comfort in knowing that he is at peace and reunited with his loved ones who preceded him in death.
Services will be held at Terrace Cemetery in Post, TX at a later date.

Kelley attended the Le Lycee Francais de Los Angeles for junior high school, known for its intensive course instruction in french. She graduated from Palisades High School in 1971.
After attending Immaculate Heart College, Kelley began working in the Healthcare field, where she excelled from the start.  She became a kidney dialysis charge nurse after moving to Albuquerque in the early 1980s.  With her son Clay by her side and her dogs, Kelley was a caregiver to her mother, Marilyn, in the latter days of Marilyn's life.

Tommy Cordova - April 06, 1940 - January 08, 2021

Departed: 01/08/2021 (Albuquerque)
Obituary Preview: Tommy Cordova was a loving husband, caring brother and wonderful father and grandfather who fell asleep in death on January 8, 2021 at Odelia Healthcare nursing home at the age of 80. He was the 15th child out of 28 born to his Mother Mary Cordova and his Father Perfecto Cordova. He is survived by his wife Mary Demecia with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. He is also survived by a sister Josie, brother Andrew, son Isaac, daughter Sharon his Sugar plum, her husband Lon, daughter Sabrina his Sugars, her husband DJ, grandson Joshua his Pumpkin, his wife Mara, granddaughter Kimberly his Princess, grandsons Ryan his Rollie Pollie and Christopher his Poopsie along with many other nieces and nephews, in-laws and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his son Anthony, and many of his brothers and sisters including the most recently passed Angie and Virginia.
Tommy was best known for his love for Jehovah God. He remembers his mother Maria studying with Jehovah’s Witnesses when he was a young boy. After he married, he and his wife Mary began studying in Belen with Sister Tressa Giffin then Brother and Sister Deaton. When Tommy and Mary moved to Albuquerque they continued their study of the Bible with Brother and Sister Stewart then Brother Stanley Weigel, finally with Brother Arthur Sample. Eventually he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Santa Fe, NM in 1963 along with his wife Mary. He continued to grow in his love for Jehovah by serving as a Regular Pioneer for a total of 9 years as his health permitted and an Elder from 1973-2010 about 37 years. He enjoyed teaching others the truth from God’s Word the Bible. He loved studying the Bible, researching the scriptures using Bible based publications. He once was nicknamed the Tapeworm because he would collect Bible based talks on tape so he could listen to them while he slept, cleaned, relaxed, drove in the car, pretty much anytime. He would talk to anyone he could about the Bible. And since he was so down to earth they felt comfortable with him. He helped many return to Jehovah just with a smile, a touch on the shoulder. He made them feel loved. He was truly something special to all who knew him.
Tommy loved spending time with his family and traveling. He had many friends in different states and congregations mostly around Albuquerque and the surrounding areas and California where he and his family lived for a time. All that knew him loved him. All that knew him knew he loved chocolate and sweets. He definitely had a sweet tooth. When he was living in the nursing home after his stroke in 2010 he may not have always remembered it but he loved when the brothers and sisters would come by and visit and bring him goodies. He was always asking what you brought. Always searching for the sweets. Even the nurses knew he would go for his dessert first and had to watch him because he would try to eat his neighbors dessert too.
Tommy was always making people laugh. He loved to tell “Dad” jokes. Anytime he was with his friends he was laughing, laughing so hard they were both crying. Hearing him laugh would make you laugh. He brought so much happiness to those around him. He will truly be missed by many. Tommy wholeheartedly believed in Jehovah God’s promise of a resurrection. He found comfort, as we all can find comfort, in God’s Word the Bible. Job 14:14,15 says “If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service Until my relief comes. You will call, and I will answer you. You will long for the work of your hands.” Acts 24:15 says “And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” Revelation 21:3, 4 “With that I heard a l oud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
We look forward to the fulfillment of these truly wonderful blessings and the time when we will be able to welcome Tommy and others we have lost in death back to life.

Tanner Gay - January 27, 1940 - January 07, 2021

Departed: 01/07/2021 (Albuquerque)
Obituary Preview: Tanner Leigh Ottley Gay passed away on January 7, 2021 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she lived with her husband, David Gay. Tanner was born January 27, 1940, in Lexington, Kentucky. Her father worked for the Army Corps of Engineers and the family moved often, finally settling in Bradenton, Florida, and building a series of houses on Anna Maria Island where they enjoyed the seaside life. She attended Palmetto School, where her mother taught, and later Manatee High School, where she was active in many clubs. She continued many of her high school interests—Latin, history, English, reporting/writing for the school newspaper, plays, student council, service, and homemaking—throughout her adult life.
At the University of Kentucky, she joined the Kappa Delta sorority, making many new friends while keeping many from childhood. In high school and college, Tanner worked summer jobs in New England—picking shade tobacco or waitressing at Kennebunkport resorts. She liked the Northeast, and after graduating, she moved to Boston and got a job at Houghton Mifflin Company, working her way up to editor in the School Reading Department. She edited textbooks and teacher guides, and wrote her own series of illustrated children’s books using age-appropriate vocabulary.  Later, when she and her husband moved to New Jersey, Tanner worked as a free-lance editor until she retired.
After both her parents died, Tanner bought her first house in Watertown, a Boston suburb. Her lifelong interest in and love of singing, cooking, gardening, photography (developing black and white photos in her bathtub), and cats coalesced at that time. Lani was her first cat, named after the last Hawaiian queen, Liliuokalani. She sang with the Ralph Farris Chorale (Boston), and church choirs at Trinity Church (Boston), Calvary Episcopal (New Providence, NJ), and the Cathedral of St. John (Albuquerque). With the latter, she and her husband, David, visited England on several choir tours.
Tanner and Dave met in 1977 as members of Trinity Church’s Phillips Brooks Club. They enjoyed each other’s company, and Dave proposed on a golf cart while vacationing in Florida. They married in August, 1980 at Trinity Church and, when Dave was offered a job at Bell Labs in 1981, moved to New Providence, New Jersey—within striking distance of New York, the Metropolitan Opera, City Opera, plays, museums, and her lifelong friend, Sally Dorst. When the dot.com bubble burst, Dave’s work situation changed, and in 2003 they moved to Albuquerque for Dave’s new position at Sandia Labs.
She and Dave loved to travel, and had many opportunities to do so for Dave’s work and purely for pleasure. Their first foreign trip together was to England, where they rented and rode a tandem bicycle around the countryside for two weeks. (They enjoyed this so much they bought a tandem when they got home, and rode it often.) Over the years, they visited the Galapagos Islands, Bolivia, Singapore, Poland, the Antarctic, Alaska, Iceland, Mexico, Oman, and several other countries. She and Dave also enjoyed exploring the beautiful natural areas closer to home together by bicycle and on foot. They enthusiastically attended countless gatherings of friends and family, sometimes travelling far to do so.
Tanner loved to cook, and to read cookbooks. Over the years she gathered a sizeable collection. She also enjoyed sewing—from items for the home to her own wedding dress, and later in life, potholders for family and friends. Anyone with an Ottley-Gay potholder is in a special club. She also learned Spanish, turning to telenovelas to build her vocabulary and polish her conversational skills. She volunteered at Albuquerque’s Bargain Box (later renamed the Assistance League Thrift Shop) where she sorted donations and helped in other ways. Although she developed Parkinson’s disease several years ago, she kept working and traveling, and she wrote a Christmas letter just weeks before she died.
It was telling of Tanner’s character that she made many friends and never spoke ill of anyone. She loved her family and they loved how she brightened all their lives when she was around or was reaching out by letter or phone.  She was one of those people who make the world better—smart, curious, optimistic, adventurous, and easy going—a rare bird for whom patience was a virtue. She was a spirited singer, excellent writer and editor, and a generous photojournalist for friends and at family gatherings. Her kindness and sense of humor shone in everything she said and did. She would be the first to say she was grateful for the many blessings in her full life, particularly the many friendships she so easily cultivated. She was loved by many. We will miss her terribly.
Tanner is survived by her husband, David Gay; brother-in-law Jim Longhurst (Lynn); sisters-in-law Elizabeth Longhurst (Kim Chapman) and Barbara Longhurst; nieces and nephews Jamie Longhurst (Moe Hill); Jordan Paulius (Linas); Abby Bennie (Braden); Madeleine Simonds (Ethan); William Chapman, Barbara Vick (Jeff); Madge Doty (Tom); cousins Rich Gay, Jeffery Gay, and Tim Gay (Susan); as well as numerous grand-nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by many friends, especially her oldest and dearest, Sally Dorst.
A service to celebrate Tanner’s life will be held at the Cathedral of St. John, Albuquerque, in late summer or fall 2021.
Donations in Tanner’s name are welcome at The Cathedral of St. John (Albuquerque), the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, or a charity of your choice.
