Brenda Marie Morgan - June 29, 1955 - November 19, 2023

Departed: 11/19/2023 (Port St. Lucie)
Obituary Preview: On Sunday November 19th 2023 Brenda Marie Morgan of Fort Pierce Florida, Loving wife and mother of three, passed away at the all too soon age of 68.
Brenda was born on June 29th 1955 in Mio Michigan to Patsy Margetson on her grandmothers kitchen table. As a young girl her mother Patsy fell ill and the mantle of caregiver for her younger siblings of which there were many passed on to her. A nurturing skill she practiced all her life. Upon losing her ailing mother at age 17, her siblings were separated, but Brenda’s resolve to keep all their hearts together tied the bonds that brought all of them and kept them a family throughout the years.
Brenda’s oldest son Chadwick Dean Iverson was born March 12th 1976 to a loving mother and brought such joy to her life that she decided to better her and his situation by leaving to find love which she did in 1980 when she met David Joel Morgan, they then welcomed two more children to the family, Kelley Jenette and Brandon Joel. Brenda and David were later married on September 30th 1989 (and threatened divorce if he ever shaved his beard again).
Brenda had more passion for all things she invested time into which included reading, crafting, talking, cooking, cleaning, walking or even simply smiling. Her smile always lit even the darkest room, her laughter emitted a sound equivalent to the sound of angels, every “I love you” melted the coldest of hearts. No one ever loved as deeply as her. Of the many traits she harbored, it was her compassionate and loving soul that defined the woman beyond words.
Brenda loved music, which included her favorite songs by the band Dr Hook and The Medicine show. When it came to movies and television, her favorites included movies such as it’s a wonderful life and just about any other Christmas related movies. Brenda really enjoyed watching YouTube especially Long Horn Lester, and other channels from the Morrow family.
Brenda also enjoyed talking to friends and family on the phone or in person, she loved reading all kinds of books, from horror stories to romance novels. Brenda was well known for her quick wit, sharp tongue, and perfect aim when it came to throwing shoes, But still not one ounce of aggression or anger, if any were to say different, they definitely felt how sharp her words could be as well as how warm and full each of her hugs were to balance. She was sure to have more love than any one family could contain. This led her into a life of volunteering with multiple charities and coordinated religious outreach programs, all of which she left changed forever and for the best.
Brenda was preceded in death by her mother Patsy, brothers Fred, Dennis, David, sister Deana, niece Sonya, nephew Jimmy and her beloved aunt Gloria. Brenda is survived by her father Arnie Wyckoff (Sue), her husband David, their three children, Chadwick (Sarah), Kelley, and Brandon, her sisters Toni, Beth, Karen (Tim), Dianna (Dewayne), and Darbie, and brother Randy and Joseph (Ann), aunt Rochelle (Jerry), several nieces nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind four grand children, Tabari and Savannah who loved their grandma to the moon, Alex and Sean who were fortunate enough to be brought into the most loving family of all time.
Brenda gave us all everything we will ever need “love” and lots of it. She will be missed and never forgotten. “I love you more”

Adam E Ford - June 19, 1950 - October 13, 2023

Departed: 10/13/2023 (Port St. Lucie)
Obituary Preview: My loving husband, Adam E. Ford passed away peacefully after battling frontal temporal dementia for several years. Although he kept his memory, sense of humor, and his personality throughout his journey, he finally lost his battle with this debilitating disease.
Throughout his life, Adam was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and dear friend. I met Adam over 22 years ago in 2001. He had fond memories from all 5 eras of his life including his early life with his parents and siblings, his 2 years in the Navy, his life with his first wife Janet and the early life of his children Kim and Adam Trevor, his life with Paige and his son Cole, as well as teenage Kim and Adam Trevor, and finally the past 22 years with me, his children: Kim (Carlos), Adam Trevor (Jenny), and Cole, 3 granddaughters: Sasha, Lera, and Jocie, his siblings: Regina (Alan), Priscilla (Jack), Joe, and Toni (Eddie), his numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and of course our dog, Scooter.
Adam loved to travel. He often spoke fondly of his time in the Navy aboard the USS Little Rock, travelling throughout the Mediterranean 50 years ago. We were fortunate to be able to travel widely throughout Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii, and Africa. Adam truly enjoyed the adventure of visiting new places. He was also quite happy sitting on a cruise ship veranda drinking a beer and smoking an expensive cigar.
Adam was a visionary, when it came to buying, renovating, and selling property, even if he didn’t always possess the funds to execute all of his visions. He truly enjoyed our time in Florida for the past 15 years, but his favorite property was our cottage in Maine at the Nubble Lighthouse. Adam also enjoyed improving and running New Harbor View Cottages for 16 years.
Adam was a salesman most of his adult life with Friend Lumber, Drummond American, and NYTEC/NexKem and was successful due to his exceptional listening skills. Adam enjoyed his many friendships with his clients, as well as his fellow sales colleagues: Marvin Keyser, Mike Zboray (Deb), and Steve Colletta (Suzanne).
I fell in love with Adam for his self-deprecating humor, his compassion, his generosity, his romantic nature, loyalty, and also his good looks. Adam was always easy going and accepted numerous tragedies and setbacks in his life with grace. He never worried about things he had no control over and believed that every problem would work itself out, as it should. Adam believed that family was very important. He deeply loved and was devoted to his family and truly enjoyed spending time with his parents, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, as well as my entire family.
Adam loved to drink and party with his friends including: Jacques and Fong, Mary and Michael, Jimmy and Joyce, and Chris, but gave it all up, when he discovered he was ill. As his disease progressed, he missed travelling and spending time with family and friends. Over the past 22 years, I don’t remember him being sad during difficult times. He felt that his disease was just “bad luck.” However, he never gave up hope. Adam recently told me that he was still hoping for a cure, so he could walk again. Adam loved deeply, was loved by many, and will be greatly missed! I am convinced that he has met Scooter, they have walked together over the rainbow bridge, and are awaiting my arrival. Thank you for being a part of his life. He loved you all!

In 2009, together they moved to Florida, where they spent their leisure time camping, going to NASCAR races and adventure parks. Paul was a loyal, dedicated and hard-working man. His co-workers and friends all share the same opinion…his best friend and co-worker said it best when he shared this:
“Paul was one of the most hard working people I have ever met. Always willing to help others no matter what, rain or shine. Paul's attitude was always positive and never let negativity get in his way of getting any task done. Personally, Paul was a kind and caring person with a bright soul that made us feel like family.
Talking to some of the team here at work, Paul certainly left the same impression of caring and positivity with everyone that got the pleasure to know and work with him. Paul will truly be missed but never forgotten. His memory will be an inspiration to never quit and always care for others.” (Robert Young)
Paul sought a relationship with Jesus - which brings some semblance of peace to us - as a family, we know we will see Paul’s precious face again.
While our hearts are heavy we sing God’s praises for the beauty that Paul brought to each and every one of us.
The pleasure of knowing and loving Paul was most definitely worth the pain and heartbreak of losing him.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice of a person's death, often including a brief biography of their life, achievements, and information about the upcoming funeral or memorial services. It's a way to formally acknowledge someone's passing and to inform the community of the loss.

Where are obituaries usually published?

Obituaries are commonly published in local newspapers, on online memorial sites, and sometimes in professional or organization newsletters. Today, social media platforms have also become a place where people share obituaries or remembrances of deceased loved ones.

What is the difference between an obituary and a death notice?

An obituary is more detailed and usually includes a biography of the deceased, while a death notice is a shorter announcement that serves to inform the public of the person’s passing, with details of the funeral service and possibly short information about the deceased.

Who writes an obituary?

Obituaries can be written by family members, friends, or sometimes by the funeral home handling the arrangements. In some cases, individuals pre-write their obituaries to ensure their life is captured as they wish.

What should be included in an obituary?

An obituary typically includes the full name of the deceased, their age, the date of their death, and sometimes the cause of death. It often contains a brief account of their personal life, career, and legacy, as well as details of the surviving family members and funeral service arrangements.

Is it necessary to mention the cause of death in an obituary?

No, mentioning the cause of death is not necessary and is entirely up to the family's preference. Some choose to include it for transparency or to bring awareness to certain health conditions, while others prefer to keep that information private.

Can an obituary include photographs?

Yes, many obituaries include a photograph of the deceased. This can be a recent picture or an older one that the family feels best represents their loved one.

How long after a death is an obituary published?

Obituaries are typically published within a few days to a week after the person's passing, often to coincide with the planning of funeral services, but the timing can vary depending on family wishes or publication schedules.

Are there costs associated with publishing an obituary?

Yes, most newspapers charge a fee to publish an obituary, which can vary widely based on length, inclusion of a photograph, and geographical location. Online postings and social media shares, however, can often be done for free or at a lower cost.

How can I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

To submit an obituary to a newspaper, contact the paper's obituary department for submission guidelines, deadlines, and fees. Newspapers typically require verification of death, which can be provided by the funeral home or through a death certificate.

What can I do if I want a more personalized obituary than the newspaper allows?

For a more personalized obituary, consider publishing on online memorial sites or use social media. These platforms are less restrictive, allowing for more creativity and personal touches to honor the deceased in a manner that truly reflects their life and personality.

Can obituaries be written for people who have been missing and presumed dead?

Yes, obituaries can be written for individuals who are missing and presumed dead, although the publishing standards may vary. They are often written as a way for families to find closure and to commemorate the life of the missing person.

Is it appropriate to include anecdotes or humor in an obituary?

Including anecdotes or humor is a personal choice and can be appropriate if it aligns with the personality of the deceased and is presented tastefully. Such elements can offer a unique glimpse into the individual's character and make the obituary more engaging.

How do obituaries serve as historical records?

Obituaries document the lives of individuals, providing future generations with important genealogical information. They can serve as a historical record of a person’s existence, significant life events, and connections within the community.

What advice is there for someone struggling to write an obituary?

If you're struggling to write an obituary, start by gathering basic information and then move on to more personal details. Seek input from other family members and friends, and consider looking at other obituaries for inspiration. If it's too challenging, you may also hire a professional writer or work with the funeral home for assistance.

Can you update an obituary after it has been published?

Once an obituary has been published in print, it cannot be updated. However, online obituaries and social media posts can often be edited if additional information is needed or if an error is found.

There are no legal requirements for publishing an obituary. It is entirely voluntary and done according to the wishes of the family or the deceased (if pre-arranged before death).

What is the etiquette for announcing the death of a prominent figure?

The etiquette for announcing the death of a prominent figure typically involves official statements from family members, their representatives, or organizations associated with the individual. It's common to handle these announcements with respect and formality given their public stature.

How do cultural differences impact the content and style of obituaries?

Cultural differences can significantly impact the content and style of obituaries, as different cultures have varying customs and traditions regarding death. This diversity can influence the tone, length, and details included in an obituary, as well as the rituals surrounding death and mourning.

Is it acceptable to share an obituary on social media?

Sharing an obituary on social media is generally acceptable and has become a common way to inform a broad network of the death quickly. It's important to ensure that close family members and friends are informed first in a more private manner before making a public announcement.

What are some ways to handle erroneous information found in an obituary?

If erroneous information is found in an obituary, contact the publisher as soon as possible to request a correction. In the case of online obituaries, the content can often be edited directly or through the website administrator.
