Wendell Thomas Sr. was born on October 26, 1954 to the late Leroy Thomas and Katie B. McCollum Thomas in Scotland County, NC. Wendell attended Scotland County Schools. He retired after 30 years of employment with J.P. Stevens / Westpoint. He was a long time member of Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Laurinburg, NC. He was preceded in death by his daughter Sharon Caple RogersBaldwin and his sister LeEsther Wells.
Wendell leaves to cherish his memories with his wife Elnora C. Thomas of Fayetteville, NC, one daughter Charlene Austin (Aaron) of Fayetteville, NC, two sons, Corey Patterson Sr. of Maryland and Wendell Thomas Jr. (Taborah) of Fayetteville, NC; one special daughter Betty Blackmon of Fayetteville, NC; one sister Mary Benjamin of Maxton, NC; two brothers Willie “June” Thomas of Maxton, NC, Bernard Thomas (Pennie) of Laurinburg , NC; twenty-four Grandchildren, twenty-four Great Grandchildren. He also leaves a host of extended family, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. Thanks to a special daughter/friend Shennetta (Nella as Papa would call her) Allen. Thank you for standing strong with us in such a difficult time.
