Sarah Anna Lee "Ma" (Hallum) Whitlow Pippenger - January 08, 1926 - August 11, 2023

Departed: 08/11/2023 (Pawnee)
Obituary Preview: Sarah Anna Lee “Ma” (Hallum) Whitlow Pippenger was born on January 8, 1926 in Hardy, Arkansas and passed from this life to her Heavenly Home on August 11, 2023. She was a kind and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, neighbor and nurse. Most importantly, she was a woman who shared God’s love with everyone she came in contact with.
She spent most of her younger years in Pawnee and its surrounding area. Life wasn’t easy for young Anna Lee. She had to work in the cotton fields, clean corn fields and even lost hope of becoming a nurse one day. She found that leaning on God and believing in the power of prayer could get her through any hardship – which is something she continued to do throughout her life.During WWII, Anna Lee’s prayer to one day become a nurse, was answered when she was given the opportunity to care for the sick at Pawnee Hospital. Little did she know this job would lead her to another answered prayer, to marry a “city dude” – Zane Owen Whitlow, the son of a fellow nurse. Anna Lee and Zane began their life together on January 23, 1946, eloping to the Justice of the Peace in Sedan, Kansas. They became business owners in Perry, OK. - a gas station where Anna Lee would receive a kiss from Zane for every gallon of gas she sold. Together they raised 4 children, Gwen, Zane,
Abby and Molly. Marriage and motherhood must have suited her, because she strove daily to be the best wife and mother she could be, and succeeded. Much of their early married life was spent moving wherever the oil field took them. In the late ‘50s they settled down in Woodward, OK and Anna Lee was able to resume her nursing career by working for Dr. R.G. Obermiller, where she was fondly named “Nurse Ann.” After her last nestling graduated high school, she and Zane moved back to where they began, Pawnee, OK. and opened a Western Auto store. A few years later she lost her “honey” Zane and opened a thrift shop as a way to fill the time, help others and share her knack for finding treasures.
In 1985, Anna Lee moved to Cushing into the house she “bought at a garage sale” and began a new life. Whether it was at church, a garage sale or bowling with the Senior Citizens, she made friends wherever she went. While bowling, she met her soon-to-be next husband, Lawrence “Larry” Pippenger. They married in 1986 and were able to spend nearly 26 years together caring for each other and watching their families grow.
For the next decade of her life, Anna Lee continued to care for others anyway she could. When the time came for her to let others care for her, it was a difficult thing for her to accept, but she did. We would like to thank all of the ones who stepped up to help her and our family – especially Genesis Home Health, Walker Companion Services, Karman Legacy Hospice, Kevin Tate, Andrea Stewart and Claudia Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents, John V. and Essie Hallum, brother Lawrence Hallum, sisters Lola Feaster, Hazel Skidgel, Elsie Skidgel, Jessie Robbins, Joy Minney, daughter Gwen Buttram, son Albert Whitlow, granddaughter Ami Whitlow Brown, son-in-law Gjon Payne and a host of other family and friends. The great rejoicing upon her arrival in Heaven could be felt by those of us she left behind
.She is survived by her sister Aredia (Rita) Nixon, son Zane V. Whitlow (Cheryl Hill), daughter Molly Payne, grandchildren Danny Buttram (Sherri), Leslie Buttram, Cheryl Davenport (John), Cheri Gibbs (Curtis), Chauna Utterback (Jon), Zane Whitlow II (Rhema), Kari Purdie (Rod), Zackri Whitlow (Brooke), Kyle Brown, Sara Payne Keyes (Jacob), Ian Payne (Chelsea), Sean Payne, 21 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday 9:00 A.M. till 7:00 P.M.in the Poteet Funeral Home Chapel Services will be held Wednesday 2:00 P.M. Bonnie Ruth Benes - February 12, 1943 - August 09, 2023

Departed: 08/09/2023 (Pawnee)
Obituary Preview: BONNIE RUTH BENES 1943-2023
Bonnie Ruth Benes passed away peacefully at the Southern Oaks Care Center in Pawnee, OK on August 9, 2023, having reached the age of 80 years and 5 months and 9 days. Her last residence before entering Southern Oaks was her family farm home in rural Morrison, Oklahoma.
Memorial Services will be at the Morrison Christian Church in Morrison, OK, on Sunday, August 13, 2923. After regular church service at 11am, dinner will be at noon with memorial service at 1:30pm officiated by Pastor Roy Fleshman and Dr. Clarance Benes. Internment will be at the Morrison Cemetery at a later date.
Bonnie was born February 12, 1943, at the home of her parents, Edward and Alice Benes. Bonnie had one sister, Barbara Adams, and four brothers, Edward Jr., Kelley, Charles and Clarance. She attended Morrison Public Schools until completing the 8th grade. She attended the Morrison Christian Church from her childhood until her retirement from her household duties as “Mama’s little helper.” She loved church and all the people there. It was Pastor Roy Fleshman that helped Bonnie prepared for her heavenly journey during her last weeks for which the family is eternally grateful.
A few months after the death of her mother, she moved to Southern Oaks Care Center in Pawnee, OK. In recent months she required Hospice Care. Both Southern Oaks and Karman Legacy Hospice both provided quality loving care during her time there.
Growing up she was always “mama’s little helper” and was the chief dishwasher and assisted her mother and sister Barbara in household chores for the family of eight. Inspired by her mother and aunts, she showed no hesitation in working hard for her family. She even worked outside in the gardens and even push mowed the grass despite her difficulty in walking. One of her favorite expressions was, “It’s Help Yourself Day!” when she wanted to take a break from serving everyone else. Finally, “Help Yourself Day” became every day when she “retired” from her chores in her mid-60’s. In her retirement she loved watching TV and doing word puzzles and keeping up with friends and family. She also had a large doll collection in her room which she enjoyed.
Always a child at heart, every generation in the family got to play “hide and seek” and card games with Bonnie, who was quite good at both Pitch and Canasta. She also loved bingo and seemed to have a lucky streak working for her in that game. One of her amazing talents was the ability to remember anyone’s birthday after being told once. She would ask all people she met, this way she could surprise them by knowing their birthday when they returned. She could fill a notebook with scores of extended family names with their birthdays all from memory. At Kelley Family reunions, always in charge of the registry, she made sure to get everyone’s name.
She is preceded in death by her parents and all her uncles and aunts. She is survived by her siblings, Kelley Family cousins, which include Jack and Jimmy Kelley, Eleanor Taulman, Joan Allen, Mary Downey, Dale Kelley, Virginia Mitchell, Jonelle Klieson, LuAnn Baker, Floyd Kelley, Ray Barnes, Steven Kelley, Boots Kelley and his sisters Carol Kelley Scott and Debbie Kelley Trout. Plus, Betty Nell (Kelley) Dennis, and her sisters Janice, Cindy, and Anitta. Also, she is survived by a host of nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. Described as being kind, gentle and sweet, she was loved by practically all that ever met her. Bonnie was truly an angel that never hurt anyone in any way and served her family with a lifetime devotion despite her limitations in mind and body. She is now united in her heavenly home with all that preceded her at the head of the Lord’s Banquet table where it will never be a “help yourself day.” Those wishing to donate in Bonnie’s memory can send it to the Morrison Christian Church, 200 East A Street, Morrison, OK 73061. Friends and family may also leave a message on Poteet Funeral Home web page https://poteetfuneral.com/obituaries
