Departed: 04/20/2021 (Kennett Square)
Obituary Preview: Lauren Deanna Moss passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 20, 2021.  She was 19 years old.
Born in York, Pennsylvania, Lauren was the daughter of Mindy Coverdale-Moss and Arthur Moss, Jr.  Lauren began her education in the Northeastern School District in York County, PA before her family returned to Chester County, where she was enrolled in the Kennett Consolidated School District.
Beginning at the age of four, Lauren remained involved in team sports, to include T-ball, basketball, soccer, and later, cross country and track.  Her high school track events included the 400 meter run, the 4x400 meter relay and the 800 meter run.
Lauren was a hard worker in addition to being an athlete and an honor student.  She held jobs as a waitress, hostess, babysitter, dog walker and runway model, receiving numerous awards at an international modeling competition held in Los Angeles, CA and modeling in New York Fashion Week, Philadelphia Fashion Week, and Main Line Fashion Week, among various other events.
Lauren graduated from Kennett High School in 2019 with honors.  Interested in pursuing a career as a physical therapist, she received acceptance at all of the universities she applied to in the hopes of achieving her dream: University of Delaware, The Ohio State University, Drexel University, University of Pittsburgh, Temple University, West Chester University and The Pennsylvania State University.
Her dream was deferred when she suffered a cerebellar hemorrhage in January 2019.  After being airlifted to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, she remained in the ICU there for three months before being transferred to the Nemours/AI Dupont Hospital for Children, where she remained in their in-patient rehabilitation program for three months.  At both hospitals, Lauren quickly became known for her quick wit, sarcastic humor and for being dedicated to her therapies.  She exceeded all medical expectations before her passing.
Lauren will be remembered most for her beautiful and infectious smile, her bold sense of humor, her boundless energy and for her love of family, friends, music, food, cooking, baking and dogs.
In addition to her parents, Lauren is survived by her sister, Gabrielle Burgos and her brother, Jaylen Moss; maternal grandparents, Vaughn and Joyce Coverdale; paternal grandparents, Sharron Mash and Arthur Moss, Sr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Lauren’s family remains incredibly grateful for the abundant support of the family, friends, coaches, coworkers, neighbors and the school community, who have all supported them tremendously since the beginning of Lauren‘s medical incident and especially through this very difficult time.

Ross Hugo Weaver - February 09, 1954 - March 16, 2021

Departed: 03/16/2021 (Kennett Square)
Obituary Preview: Ross Hugo Weaver was born to David Quartus and Ingrid Othelia (Hugo) Weaver on February 9, 1954, in Wichita, Kansas.  He lost his year-long battle with pancreatic cancer and passed away on March 16, 2021 in his Pennsylvania home at age 67, surrounded by his family.  He and Anne Marie Spencer were married on October 14, 1978 in Oswego, Kansas.  He is survived by his wife, Anne, and their daughter, Hannah, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine candidate.  He is also survived by brothers David Weaver (Barbara), Aurora, CO, Thomas “Tom” Weaver, (Henrietta Tranum) Falmouth, MA, and Grant Weaver (Santa Mendoza), Groton, CT.
Ross was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas.  He attended Jesse Chisholm Elementary School, Mead Junior High, and East High School (class of 1972).  Ross received his undergraduate degree in pharmacy from the University of Kansas in 1977, Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Tennessee in 1980 and completed a Post-Doc fellowship in Pharmacokinetics at the University of Minnesota in 1982.  While working at the American Medical Association in Chicago as a Senior Scientist, Ross completed his Master of Business degree at the University of Chicago.
The street Ross grew up on had more than 60 kids on it and every day he could run out and find a game of football, baseball, or kick the can to join.  He filled his weekend with such activities despite fighting childhood asthma.
On a rare summer night not spent playing with the neighborhood kids, Ross challenged himself to locate the “mystery man” in a radio contest.  Ten-year old Ross convinced his mother to drive him across town for the contest and did in fact find the mystery man and win the prize.
From a young age, Ross was an avid reader, consuming fiction, non-fiction, and subjects related to his academics.  In high school, one of his favorite activities was playing Devil’s Advocate during current events class with his friend, Fred Harvey.  The two of them always took the minority position, which drove their teacher crazy.
Ross was not only a high achiever academically but was also a good athlete.  As he grew out of his asthma, he competed in high school sports, played on the golf team, and earned a letter in wrestling, but baseball was his biggest love.
As Ross graduated high school, his interest in athletics dwindled but his love of books and learning remained throughout his life.  Anne remembers as they were dating, how she enjoyed listening to hours of Ross talking about The Teachings of Don Juan as experienced by Carlos Castaneda.  The two of them enjoyed scuba diving, skiing, and traveling to new places together, often with friends and family.
In 1998, they were blessed with their daughter Hannah who remains the joy of their lives.  Ross doted on his daughter, stopping just before she became too spoiled.  One of Hannah’s favorite memories was when Ross pretended that he was a horse and every evening would carry her up the stairs on his back.
Ross also instilled in his daughter a strong work ethic, a trait that he also exhibited throughout his life.  After working for two major pharmaceutical companies in the Wilmington, DE area, Ross established the first of four businesses he owned as a partner or sole owner, including Clinical SCORE and Drug Development Insights (DDI).
Ross firmly believed in advocating for patients which resulted in the co-founding of Clinical SCORE.  The work done at Clinical SCORE provides a platform on which patients’ voices and experiences during clinical trials can be heard and presented.  This ultimately goes toward improving patient resources and experiences. Clinical SCORE will continue his legacy under the same beliefs and goals.
Ross will always live in our hearts remembered as a loving husband, father and brother as well as a fair, kind generous man. The memorial service time will be LIVESTREAMED ONLY at 12:00PM on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from the Longwood Funeral Home & Cremation of Matthew Genereux in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.  The site login will be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiTXttJGdTw

William Paul Hauser - Unknown - March 14, 2021

Departed: 03/14/2021 (Kennett Square)
Obituary Preview: William "Bill" Paul Hauser of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania passed away on March 14, 2021.  He was 86 years old .
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Bill was the son of the late Louis William Hauser and Marie Hafertepen Hauser.
“Bill” Hauser loved to learn - in school, from his friends, and throughout his life.  The son of a tailor and a housewife, he was the first member of his family to graduate from high school and college.  He attended the University of Notre Dame and would go on to earn his Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Rochester.  Holding two postdoctoral fellowships, one at the Carnegie Institute and the other at his Alma Mater, Notre Dame, he became an expert in physical and photochemistry.  His learning was not only restricted to the classroom.  During college he worked as an assistant to a pipe fitter at Cincinnati Chemical Works, a job he credited for learning many of the practicalities that shaped his career.  He continued to be inspired by others well after his formal education.  Whether it was art, history or the appreciation of music he continued to take classes and engage in the life of the mind.  Bill was exceptional at whatever professional task he set before him.  He was employed at NASA, at DuPont, and finished his career at Ratner and Prestia.  Beginning as a bench chemist working on issues of basic science and their application to industry, Bill would obtain two patents.  It was during his time at DuPont that Bill found his professional calling, intellectual property, where he developed patents for scientists working in the corporation.  His competency was well recognized and upon his retirement he co-founded the Wilmington office of Breneman, Georges & Krikelis to continue his work on intellectual property.  His career in patent law is distinguished by a record in which not one of his numerous patent filings was ever overturned.
Bill was also a skilled and passionate photographer, marrying his loves of chemistry and art. Whether it was on his many travels with his beloved wife Jean, scuba diving trips, or walks around Longwood Gardens, Bill was constantly inspired by the simple joys of light, form and composition.  He would share this gift of the world through slide shows and presentations well into his time at Cartmel and Crosslands, where he was a member of the photography club.
Bill was also known for being a compassionate and devoted husband, father and friend.  He supported and encouraged Jean as she obtained her M.S. and Psy.D.  He passed on his love of learning to his three boys, all of whom would obtain advanced degrees in topics ranging from International Studies, to Archaeology, and Chemistry.  Like Jean, he was truly a mentor to his sons, encouraging them to be both assertive yet thoughtful, ambitious and humble, responsible and caring.  His confidence was sought out by friends and colleagues alike, for his compassion, balance, and clarity of thought. Bill was the beloved husband of the late Marilyn “Jean” Hauser for 54 years who died on March 2, 2021; father of Paul Edward Hauser, Mark William Hauser and Steven Louis Hauser; grandfather of Daniel, Phoebe, Robert and Evelyn.  Bill was predeceased by his sister, Mary Lois (Hauser) Braun Due to the current restrictions his Funeral Mass will be private.  The Mass will be livestreamed at 12:00PM on Saturday, March 20, 2021 from St. Patrick Church.  https://venue.streamspot.com/66c95b9b

Michael J. Wendle - February 20, 1947 - March 12, 2021

Departed: 03/12/2021 (Kennett Square)
Obituary Preview: Michael J. Wendle of West Chester, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2021.  He was 74 years old.
Michael had a happy childhood in Johnstown, Pennsylvania with his parents, sisters and very close friends.  He spent summers at his family’s Camp Pleasant, PA, cottage fishing, canoeing, swimming, and trying to avoid snakes.  Skiing, football practice/games, and dating filled his teenage years in addition to a variety of vehicles—an old Chevy, an Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite (a favorite of his friends who felt super cool tooling around in it), and finally a behemoth Cadillac which replaced the Sprite due to an unfortunate mix-up of a forward gear instead of reverse.  College years were spent at Penn State in State College making new friends in the Delta Upsilon fraternity house, studying for a biochemistry degree, and becoming a life-long Nittany Lion fan.  After graduation Michael worked for the DuPont Company at Chambers Works in Deepwater, NJ, as a chemist.
He met his future wife Susan Aeschliman at DuPont, they married a year later and enjoyed a 50-year marriage and two terrific sons, Michael, Jr. and Andrew.  Michael transferred to Photo Products at DuPont and worked 24 years building a successful career in sales living in Long Island; Schenectady, NY; Hockessin, DE; Morristown, NJ; Lincoln, MA and Chadds Ford.  Retirement highlights included a move to Tullamore in West Chester and two special weddings that brought wonderful young women, Dena Jordan and Sarah Dunn, into his family.  He enjoyed his new friends, gardening, reading, golfing with his wife and often walking with her at Winterthur and Longwood Gardens, and the pure pleasure of celebrating the births of five grandchildren:  Devon, Maylee, Mason, Henry, and Renee.  Life was good watching them mature, marveling at their abilities, and being proud of his sons and daughters-in-law for their committed, loving parenting.
He was predeceased by his parents, the late Edgar and the late Frances Donley Wendle; and brother in law, Toni Bielski.  He is also survived by his sisters, Diane Wendle Fink (Karl) and Martha Wendle Bielski. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, March 26, 2021 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. with a celebration of life service at 1:30 p.m. at the Longwood Funeral Home & Cremation of Matthew Genereux, 913 East Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square.  The visitation and service will be LIVESTREAMED via YouTube.  The link will be: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q12_Llvqslk
Interment will follow the service in Lower Brandywine Cemetery, Kennett Pike, Wilmington, DE.

Thomas C. Ragan - August 17, 1941 - March 08, 2021

Departed: 03/08/2021 (Kennett Square)
Obituary Preview: Thomas C. Ragan August 17, 1941 - March 8, 2021 at 1:05 pm Veteran. Husband. Father. PopPop
Dad wanted the words listed above to be the first line of his obituary and he wanted to be known as a Veteran first.  His Letters of Commendation addressed our father’s ‘exemplary, meticulous and diligent manner’ in the ‘processing and reallocation of personnel’ throughout the Eighth United States Army both Stateside and in Southeast Asia.  After our mother Margo died in 2018, I asked him about his volunteer work at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery.  He told me that he while in the Army he processed young men before they went to Vietnam.  It was his job at one point to record their military identification details and whom stateside would be next of kin.  Working at the Cemetery allowed him on a daily basis to see names come across his desk and he felt honor bound to see if any jolted his memory of a young soldier so many decades ago.
Our mother’s death shattered him.  Anyone who knew them together witnessed the genuine affection, humor and love that they shared.  For those in attendance, there were few dry eyes during their 50th Anniversary when Dad sang to her Kenny Rogers, “Through the Years.”  He would have done anything for her.
Paul called Dad the original “Superman.”  Dad beat the odds by receiving a dual kidney- pancreas transplant in 1993.  Subsequent years added health issues but he always rebounded. Our Dad was the Man of Steel until Mom died.
Waiting for that transplant back in the early 90s, Dad asked me to write his obituary.  “How did my father uniquely love us?” I wondered.  It was 1982 and Sweetlands by Ezra Stone and Bud Smith was a play in Newtown.  I was petrified to be on stage but my best friend Cara Godwin insisted I join her.  I had one word to say on stage in a long dress borrowed from her mother.  Simon & Garfunkel piped in the background and as “Bridge over Troubled Waters” hit a crescendo, I said “1979” and all of a sudden in the darkened Council Rock auditorium this person stood up and with a raucous voice, started clapping, whooping and yelling my name.  Afterwards, I asked Dad how he could embarrass me that way.  He told me that at that precise moment in time he wanted me and me alone to know how courageous I was and for his praise to not get lost in the general applause at the end of the performance. Dad of 1992 wanted to save Paul’s grand slam baseball as he told me that my brother had an innate leadership and athleticism that was to be admired.  Dad used to say to me how Paul was the type of boy that people naturally followed.  Dad of 2021, with fear and love stoked by delirium retold to a hospice nurse all of Paul’s triumphs both personally and professionally.  The hospice nurse asked which of my brother’s dishes as a Chef, was my father’s favorite.  I wrote down verbatim what he said ..”my favorite is whichever is on my plate.”  Their humor was unique to them and many of us feel that the “Ragan Humor” is an acquired taste! ‘PopPop’ did not come about until the arrival of Emma in 2002.  As with my mom as ‘MomMom’, our father treasured his granddaughter.  Emma always understood Dad and she had an ability to tease him, cajole him and make him feel special.  My sons, Luca and Bastián looked forward to their times with my parents as trips to Mt. Fuji and Goodnoes were always on the list.  After Mom died, the boys now teens got to engage with PopPop on a more relatable level.  Luca and PopPop even got their driver’s licenses renewed together! (It’s okay. Dad did not drive.  He said to me that having a driver’s license made him feel young again and gave him a sense of dignity that belied his failing health.)
My dad in so many ways was my hero.  He taught me to love my country, our government.  He taught me about loyalty.  He was my Brownie girl scout leader, CYO parent, chaperone at dances, and even my partner in a twist contest at the Newtown Swim Club where I lifeguarded.  Growing up, I always knew that my father had my back.
Dad is predeceased by his parents, Charles and ‘Dolly the Great’ Ragan; sisters, Patti (Ragan) Krysinski, Sue (Ragan) MacNeil and Mary Ragan.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Jocelyn S. (Ragan) Micolucci, her husband Louis M. Micolucci, and grandsons Luca and Bastián Micolucci. His son, Paul T. Ragan and granddaughter, Emma S. Ragan also survive him. A Catholic Mass will be held at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 11am.  Family greetings will take place the hour prior to Mass.  The Funeral Mass will be LIVESTREAMED.  see  http://www.standrewnewtown.com/
Internment will be privately held at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

Nicholas "Nick" Paul White - July 22, 1997 - March 06, 2021

Departed: 03/06/2021 (Kennett Square)
Obituary Preview: Nicholas “Nick” Paul White, 23, of Allentown, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021 in an automobile accident.  Nick was born on July 22, 1997 in Red Bank, New Jersey, the son of David and Amy (Nardacci) White.
As Nick’s family moved states, he attended various schools in New York (Lynnwood Elementary School, Guilderland), Florida (Rainbow Elementary School and Tuskawilla Middle School, Oviedo), and Texas (McCullough Junior High and The Woodlands).  In 2015, he graduated from The Woodlands, where he played outfield for The Highlanders baseball team.
Upon his family’s relocation to Pennsylvania, Nick enrolled at DeSales University, where he majored in Communications with a focus in Sports Broadcasting, and he played outfield for the Bulldogs baseball team.  Nick earned many awards, including: MAC Freedom Second Team All-Conference, 2018; MAC Freedom First Team All-Conference, 2019; and an appointment to the All-Region Baseball Team, 2019.  Nick graduated in May 2019.
Even before graduation from DeSales, Nick followed his passion and began reporting for SEC TV2 Sports.  He remained at TV2, reporting on local sports, until Covid-19 altered the athletic landscape in PA.  In August of 2020, Nick became a Sales Center Leader with the sales team at Bimbo Bakeries, USA.  It delighted Nick to follow in his Dad’s footsteps, in the ‘family business’, and to work with family and friends.  Once he started at Bimbo, he and his girlfriend, Emily Kattner, whom he lovingly called Katnip, got an apartment together, and in it, they celebrated their one-year anniversary.
Nick is survived by his parents David and Amy of Chadds Ford; his siblings Olivia (Will Brock) and Gabrielle; his grandparents Marsha and Claude Rousseau, and Kathryn Nardacci.  He is predeceased by his grandfather, Julio Nardacci, whom he adored.  So much so, that he tattooed his Papa’s name on his shoulder.
Big-hearted, caring, generous, a beautiful soul—Nick, with his warm laugh, lit up a room.  Nick loved family and friends.  His positive outgoing energy was contagious.  Everyone felt welcome in Nick’s presence.  He could be silly or serious, whatever a situation needed.  He gave people he loved Nicknames (Silly-Billy-Willy can testify to that).  Or renamed their pets for them.  He loved animals, especially his cats, Fig and Mouchie.  He brought people together to have fun—play whiffle ball or ping pong, sample beer at a brew pub, float on innertubes down the Brandywine River—and to live in the moment.  By day, he loved the noise and bustle and spirit of a big family and a lot of friends.  But when the house grew still and quiet, he’d hang with his mom watching Netflix, playing pool, and talking to the early morning hours.
He collected watches, but he was always late.  He never missed a day of school, but he couldn’t get there on time.  He drove six hours roundtrip on a workday to vote in the 2020 presidential election.  He cooked chicken parmesan while he listened to G-Eazy.  He never lived in California, but he always rooted for the Angels.  He climbed mountains in the Adirondacks, but he wore Gucci, and he never had a hair out of place.  Brutal brutal toaster strudel.  Nick loved life.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Longwood Funeral Home & Cremation of Matthew Genereux in Kennett Square.  Due to Covid-19, there will be no calling hours or funeral, at this time.  The family hope to hold a memorial service at a future date, to be announced on this website, in the coming months.

When he retired, he found a community he loved at Calvary Chapel.  Lenny got so much joy from participating in various bible studies and prayer groups.  He loved meeting with his bible study group at Wegman's every week and eventually moved the group meetings to his own garage (a group he fondly referred to as "the garage warriors").  Lenny had such a huge impact on his community in every way.  He was the greatest husband and father to his family.  He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren Delaney, Tripp, and Anya. He equally loved his furry friends Howie, Kramer, Stella, Martin, Patrick, and Cosette. Always a coach, always ready with a hilarious (and intentional) mispronunciation of common words. He loved to make everyone laugh.  He pushed his family to be their best selves.  The family will miss him and were so lucky to know him. And while their pain is profound, they rejoice in knowing that his suffering is over.  Lenny is with Christ.  His family will live on with their fond memories and hope that the way they carry on in living, will lead them to seeing him again. Lenny G, the man, the myth, the legend.  He will be missed forever.  A viewing will be from 12:30PM until 1:30PM with a prayer service at 1:30PM on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at the LONGWOOD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION of MATTHEW GENEREUX, 913 East Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square.  Services will be streamed at:   https://www.facebook.com/longwoodfuneralhomecremation
