What services does the Lincoln Land Cremation Society offer?

We offer a range of services from direct cremation, which includes the transportation of the deceased, the cremation process, and the return of the ashes, to more comprehensive services that can include memorial services, urn selections, and assistance with filing death certificates and other paperwork.

How much does cremation cost at the Lincoln Land Cremation Society?

Cremation costs vary depending on the specific services selected. However, we pride ourselves on offering transparent, affordable pricing. We can provide a detailed price list upon request and will work with you to honor your loved one within your budget.

Can arrangements be made in advance?

Absolutely. Pre-planning your cremation service can alleviate the decision-making pressure on family members during a difficult time. It also allows you to lock in current prices, potentially saving money in the future.

Is there a difference between pre-planning and pre-paying?

Yes, pre-planning refers to making decisions about the cremation service ahead of time, while pre-paying involves actually paying for these services in advance. Both options have their benefits, and we can provide more detail to help you make the best choice.

How are cremation services personalized?

We offer various ways to personalize services, including the choice of urns, keepsake jewelry, memorial services, and the involvement of ceremonial aspects that are unique to the individual being honored.

What happens if a death occurs away from home?

In the event of a death occurring away from home, we can coordinate with a local provider to ensure that your loved one is transported back to Lincoln Land Cremation Society for the services you've selected.

Can I still have a funeral with a cremation?

Yes, a traditional funeral service can still be arranged prior to the cremation. Many families choose to have a viewing or visitation as well, which we are able to accommodate.

What is direct cremation?

Direct cremation is a simple and economical service where the cremation is performed soon after death without embalming, viewing, or visitation. The ashes are then returned to the family without the involvement of a formal ceremony.

How long does the cremation process take?

The cremation process itself usually takes several hours. However, the overall timeline from the moment of passing to return of the cremated remains typically spans a few days, as there are authorizations and permits that must be obtained.

Is a casket necessary for cremation?

A casket is not required for cremation. A rigid, combustible container is used for the process. We provide options that fulfill this requirement while respecting both personal and financial considerations.

Are there any items that cannot be cremated with the body?

Yes, there are certain items, such as large metal objects or batteries, which are not permitted in the cremation chamber due to safety concerns. Personal items can often be cremated with the body, but it is best to consult with us for guidance.

How is the identity of the deceased maintained throughout the cremation process?

We have strict procedures in place to ensure the identity of the deceased is maintained from the moment they are in our care until the return of the cremated remains. This involves checks and balances at each stage of the process.

What are the options for memorialization after cremation?

There are numerous options for memorialization including, but not limited to, scattering the ashes in a meaningful place, interment in a cemetery plot, placing them in a columbarium niche, or keeping them in an urn at home.

Can my family be present during the cremation?

Family presence during the cremation process is subject to the policies of the specific crematory. At Lincoln Land Cremation Society, we can discuss your wishes and accommodate them to the best of our ability.

Do you offer grief support services?

We are committed to supporting families not just through cremation services, but also in the challenging time that follows. We offer resources and referrals to grief support services and counselors who can help navigate the journey of loss and healing.

How do I begin the process of arranging a cremation?

Arranging a cremation starts with a call or visit to our facility. Our compassionate staff will guide you through the necessary steps, from completing paperwork to making personalized service choices.

Is it possible to view the body before cremation?

Yes, we can arrange for a private or public viewing before the cremation, depending on your personal preferences and our facility's capabilities.

What if my loved one had a pacemaker or other medical devices?

Medical devices such as pacemakers need to be removed before cremation due to the potential hazard they pose when exposed to the high heat of the cremation chamber. We will take care of this process according to industry protocols.

How are the ashes returned to the family?

The cremated remains are returned in a temporary container or an urn that may be purchased from our selection. We treat the ashes with the utmost respect and care, ensuring safe and dignified handling throughout.

The legal right to authorize a cremation typically falls to the next of kin or a legal representative of the deceased. The specifics can vary by state, and we can provide guidance on the necessary legal documentation.
