Heather Marie Shearn - April 13, 1996 - June 04, 2022

Departed: 06/04/2022 (Boise)
Obituary Preview: Our beloved Heather fought her whole life - for acceptance… for understanding…
for relief from mental challenges and physical pain. She found a career that she thrived in thanks to her cherished sister whom she loved deeply.  She was born to do it, and she learned quickly.  She came home beaming with stories of her days! She was so smart and tender hearted - but she would NEVER let you see that side.  Her internal social filter was set on low!
She was so grateful for the unconditional love and devotion of her sweet Rocky, her cuddly Ebony, and her “demon child” Morty.  She loved animals more than she loved most people.  She loved her family, and her sisters most especially.
She conquered her anxiety.  She managed her ADHD.  She mastered her bipolar diagnosis.  And she used every available medical resource to deal with her pain… until she couldn’t anymore.  She chose her final battle with her pain.  It’s not a path any of us would have chosen for her.  We will miss her terribly, and she will be forever in our hearts. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Memorial Service Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 3:00PM Cremation Society of Idaho - 5541 W overland Road, Boise ID 83705 If you are unable to attend the service in person, you can stream through Zoom using this link: https://zoom.us/j/8069432212?pwd=NFhXRDVxaXpWdzllQi81M0RETEtOQT09 For those wishing to make contributions, the Shearn family requests that donations be made to the below organizations: Idahocrisis.org - Idaho Crisis and Suicide Hotline Idahohumanesociety.org - Idaho Humane Society

Pamala G Link - January 27, 1964 - May 21, 2022

Departed: 05/21/2022 (Boise)
Obituary Preview: On Saturday, May 21, we lost our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Pam was born to Herb and (Merriam) Ruth Elliott in Boise, Idaho. The youngest of six and the daughter of a miner, she and her brothers and sister grew up with regular moves between Moab, Utah, Vail, Colorado, and Idaho City, Idaho. Her favorite childhood memories included riding horses in Moab with her older sister and nieces and learning how to ski with Jean Claude Killy in Vail. She found plenty of adventure wherever she lived, and would remember with a laugh how many weekends she spent washing police cars after getting caught having had a little too much fun. She married Steve Link, the love of her life, in Idaho City in 1986 and lived with him and daughters Tera and (Chantel) Nickie, traveling throughout Nevada while Steve worked as a heavy equipment operator building roads before settling down once again in Idaho City in 1993. Having inherited the urge to keep moving, she also lived in various homes in Nampa, Boise, and Idaho City in the years that followed. No matter where she lived, she was never without a good dog or a pretty garden. Pam will be remembered by all who knew her for her big mouth and even bigger heart.  She was well known for her big laugh, quick wit, many artistic talents, and limitless generosity. She designed and baked many cover-worthy wedding and birthday cakes, beautiful quilts, award-winning Halloween costumes and fancy dresses for her kids, grandkids, family and friends. Being a true renaissance woman, she was equally good at hunting, fishing, gardening, and perfectly capable of rebuilding a transmission when the need arose. She loved kids, and stepped in to care for all who showed up at her kitchen table in need of a meal or an ear. The greatest joy of her life was her two sets of twin grandchildren, for whom she was always baking, sewing, and thinking up new ways to spoil. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Steve Link; her children, Tera (James) Benkert and Chantel “Nickie” Elliott-Link; her grandchildren August, Wylie, Rowan, Gemma; siblings Jan Flynn, John (Ruth) Elliott, Chuck (Jackie) Elliott, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her poor pug, Frankie, who misses her terribly. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Richard “Dickie” Elliott and Carl “Jimbo” Elliott. Pam requested that there be no special services held on her behalf. A pot luck and celebration of her life will be hosted at Idaho City Community Hall on Saturday, August 13 at 3pm.

Mary Virginia Breshears - March 20, 1930 - May 19, 2022

Departed: 05/19/2022 (Boise)
Obituary Preview: On the morning of May 19, 2022 Mary passed away peacefully of natural causes.  Mary was being visited and comforted by family at a skilled nursing facility in Boise, Idaho.  Mary was 92 years old.
Mary was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on March 20, 1930.  She was the second child born to Virginia Margaret Benz Wohllaib and Wesley Jacob Wohllaib.
Mary grew up on a farm in Twin Falls, Idaho and she and her siblings attended country schools until junior high school when they had to go to the big town school.  The first house she lived in had no electricity and an outhouse, but she loved playing on the farm with her siblings and attending country events with neighbors.  When Mary was about 10, her guardian angel was worked overtime – she and her siblings were playing in the canal near their home during one of the periodic times the water was shut off. They decided to get out and go home to lunch and they had just gotten up the bank when a wall of water came down – it was close!  That same year she fell into a cistern and dangled from her fingertips until she was rescued.
Mary graduated from Twin Falls High School and then attended the Pentecostal Bible Institute in Tupelo, Mississippi.  There she met her future husband, David William Breshears, from Parma, Idaho.  They were married in June, 1950.
The young couple lived in Boise, Idaho for a few months, then irrigated for a farmer in Murtaugh, Idaho the summer of 1951 and their first child, Carmena, was born.  They moved to Twin Falls where their two sons, Brian and Tim were born.  Then they moved to Parma for a year before moving back to Boise where their last two children were born, Mary Jane and Amy.  In 1971 they moved to Meridian, Idaho where Mary worked in the cafeteria at the elementary school.  When they retired in 1991, Mary and David bought a home in town where they enjoyed visits with their children, grandchildren and eventually, great grandchildren.
In 2011, Mary had open heart surgery to repair her heart valves and she suffered a stroke.  While in a nursing rehabilitation center to recover before she could go home, she fractured her back.  She recovered from her stroke very well, but her back troubled her much longer.
In 2015, after years of taking care of her husband. who had Parkinson’s, she had to have her gallbladder removed.  At the same time her husband’s health had dramatically deteriorated so he was moved to a nursing home, which was supposed to be temporary, while she recovered.  Unfortunately, her recovery lasted over a year and her husband’s health got worse and worse so he couldn’t come back home.  He passed away four months later in the nursing home while she wasn’t able to be there for him like she very much wanted to be.
In her later years, Mary spent a lot of time reading and doing lots of jigsaw puzzles.  Hand and Foot became her favorite card game to play with family and friends.
Mary always took good care of her family – loving and kind.  She will be missed.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, David, her parents – Wesley and Virginia Wohllaib; her brothers – Bob and Ken; her daughter, Carmena and by grandson, Chauncey.
Mary is survived by her children – Brian (Alesea) Boise, Timothy (Tina) Kuna, Mary Jane Harper (Meridian), Amy Baugh (Bill) Boise and honorary daughter, Darlene Breshears Hickenlooper (Gary) Hammett; grandchildren – Joshua, Charlie, Max, Seth, Rachel, Ashley, Alan, Michael, William; great-grandchildren – Alexander, Anthony, AnnMarie, Harmony, Tyzon, Calan, Aurelia, Damien; and by her sister, Sharon Smith.

Claudette Ann Hodkinson - January 30, 1938 - April 29, 2022

Departed: 04/29/2022 (Boise)
Obituary Preview: Claudette Hodkinson was born on January 30, 1938, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  As a little girl she loved being outside, playing softball and swimming at the Camden Park Pool. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School where she played bass drum in the marching band.
She married and had five children which kept her very busy.  Claudette entered the world of interior design by winning national awards at World Gift, an in-home marketing program popular in the 1970’s.  This led to a 10-year opportunity with Dayton’s Home Store.  It was here that her life changed when she met Floyd E. Hodkinson, also known as the Mean Boss. She quickly found this to be untrue. Their happy and successful marriage brought them to Idaho.
Claudette and Floyd were fortunate to select a Boise neighborhood where they both made so many caring friends. She continued her career in Downtown Boise with The Bon Marche department store in home furnishings until the store closed.
Claudette then dedicated herself to her family, her friends, and her church. She was a Deacon and sang in the choir at First Presbyterian Church. Claudette loved children of any age, but especially babies.  She was well-known for her chocolate chip cookies and prowling the second-hand stores for priceless treasures. Although she has left us, we are quite certain she would want us all to recognize the many treasures in our own lives.
She is preceded in death by her dear husband, Floyd E. Hodkinson, and three brothers.
She leaves behind her brother, Bob Thorson (Alice); daughters, Cheryl Larabee (Bruce) and Diane Aanestad; sons, Stuart Moore (Sue), Brian Moore and Kelly Moore (Kathy); Grandchildren, Angela Diaz, Nick Moore (Kristine), Matt Larabee (Holly), Brett Larabee (Sarah), Haley Moore, Angelle Moore, Colton Moore and Sarah Moore; Great-grandchildren Jackson, Whitnee, Keira and Keegan.

Heidrun Toomey - October 05, 1942 - April 24, 2022

Departed: 04/24/2022 (Boise)
Obituary Preview: HEIDRUN (HEIDI) TOOMEY October 5, 1942 - April 24, 2022
Heidi Toomey died at home on April 24, 2022 after a long illness with her loving husband, Phil, by her side.
Heidi was born in Oberursel, Germany on October 5, 1942 to Heinrich and Cläre Schmidt. She began an office career at age 14 and participated in track and field, ultimately being ranked among the top ten sprinters in West Germany.
In 1965, she emigrated to the U.S. where she met her “Ami”, Phil, at Rockaway Beach in New York. Heidi and Phil were married later that year, and the two greatest treasures in Heidi’s life, daughters Jennifer and Adrienne, were born in 1966 and 1967.
The family moved several times with Phil’s work to various places, including California and Pittsburgh, and ultimately Boise in 1974. Heidi became a very proud American citizen while in California. She loved this country and all the opportunities it afforded to immigrants.
Heidi found joy in being a mother to Jennifer and Adrienne. She devoted herself to creating a nurturing home for her daughters, leading by example how to be a strong, yet compassionate, woman. Even after they grew up and left home, she remained their greatest cheerleader.
Heidi brought her strength and grace outside the home as well with her achievements and giving back to the community, enriching the world around her in so many ways.
When Jennifer and Adrienne were old enough, Heidi went to school for her GED and ultimately her bachelor’s degree, and was named one of the Top Ten Scholars of her graduating class from Boise State University.  Recognizing the opportunities she had been given to complete her education, she established a scholarship at BSU for single parents with children.
A cancer survivor herself, she spent a number of gratifying years visiting with cancer patients in the chemotherapy infusion sections of both St. Luke’s and St. Al’s Hospitals.  She brought them comfort and hope by listening, and sharing her own experience.
Heidi loved the mountains, and she and her family spent many summers backpacking in Idaho’s Sawtooth Mountains. That love of nature was a gift that she passed onto her daughters. Later, Heidi and Phil hiked in several countries, including Canada, Switzerland, New Zealand and Nepal.
After a large fire in the Boise foothills in the nineties, Phil and Heidi planted many Ponderosa Pine seedlings and carried water to them regularly for over two years to help them survive.
Heidi was a member of the Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years.
Everyone loved Heidi.  She had a friendliness and naturalness and zest for life that just drew people to her. She will be remembered fondly by many and missed terribly by her family. She made the world a better place.
Heidi is survived by Phil, her husband of 56 years, and her two daughters, Jennifer and Adrienne, son-in-law Matt, 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren—as well as a brother-in-law, niece and cousins in Germany.
Phil would like to give thanks to Doctors Waj Nasser, Sky Blue and Paul Montgomery for their special care of Heidi over the years.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Boise on May 13 at 11 a.m. If you were thinking of sending flowers, the family would prefer that you send a contribution to the Boise State Foundation for the Heidi Toomey Scholarship for single parents with children.

Jo’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. Jo loved playing Yahtzee and dominos with the kids. She loved her annual Christmases visiting her daughter’s family in Arizona. The legacy of Jo’s kind spirit and zest for life will live on through all of us.
She also loved the times spent at Warm Lake at the family cabin for thirty years. She enjoyed looking for deer and picking huckleberries and was famous for her huckleberry pancakes.
She also had a passion for movies and was an avid viewer of Monk, thrillers and period dramas.
We would like to thank the staff at Grace Assisted Living and All Care Hospice for their loving and supportive care of our dear mother.  At Jo’s request, there will be a celebration of life for family at a later date. Memorial tributes in Joan Irons’ name may be made to P.E.O Chapter BC in care of Marcia Rausch, 4848 W Hillcrest Drive, Boise, ID, 83705. “May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”

Don Wilcox - March 01, 1949 - April 10, 2022

Departed: 04/10/2022 (Boise)
Obituary Preview: Don Lee Wilcox was born on March 1, 1949 in Omaha, Nebraska. The 5th child of the late James Leon and Opal G. Wilcox. His family lived in many places as he grew up, they settled for a couple of years in Ketchum while his father was building, this is where he graduated from Wood River Highschool. He received a scholarship for wrestling at Boise college, he was small but quick on his feet, determined, and won his matches using his brain over his brawn! This is where he met so many lifelong friends. He was a proud Boise resident and die-hard bronco fan for the remainder of his life.
D.W. was an independent contractor. He could build from breaking ground to the last shingle placed on the roof.  His favorite part of his career was carpentry. He loved to tell people “You know Jesus was a carpenter, right?” He had several other jobs outside of his career. He loved the challenge of investing in and flipping real estate. He taught his daughter that there is no real reward without risk.   He managed the Broadway bar and then opened, owned, and operated Doc’s bar to season his liquor license, which was another side gig he was very passionate about. He met so many great friends and loved having cocktails and sharing stories at both of these watering holes. In 1984 Don and Kathy welcomed their daughter, Ashley Marguerite Wilcox. Don considered fatherhood his greatest accomplishment. From the beginning, they were very best friends and took on life as a team. Ashley was the light of her father’s life and he is her forever hero! Don was an adventure seeker and loved to live life on the edge. In 1989 he discovered white water rafting, he lived for the sport and the thrill. There wasn’t a class 5 rapid that he wouldn’t challenge to a duel. His motto was always “go big or go home!” He loved everything golf! Playing, practicing, watching, betting, or endlessly talking about it. He wasn’t the best “stick” but it wasn’t for lack of effort or passion.  Let’s make something very clear, he was not a sandbagger, he just played really well under pressure!
Doc loved to drop everything and travel, and he did a lot of it. Whether it was a trip to Hawaii, riding a mule to the bottom of the Grand Canyon or taking Ashley on the road with him all over the southwest to show her what he thought to be some of life’s hidden gems. He was always seeking an adventure. He said he briefly retired in his thirties when he went south of the border to do south of the border things. He loved sharing his epic stories from Mazatlán.
Don Lee is survived by his beloved daughter (Ashley Wilcox), his loving sisters Sheron (Sam) Ladue, Marylin (Terry) Thompson, and many nieces, nephews, and friends he considered family. He is preceded in death by his parents, 5 siblings, and other loved ones.
Please join us in celebrating Doc’s life on Friday May 6, 2022 at Barber Park event center. “Doctail” hour will begin at 5 pm, followed by a service, refreshments, and food. It will conclude with a sunset toast to our father, brother, uncle, and friend. We hope to see you there. Ashley would like to have photos as keepsakes so please bring your favorite pic of Don and we will have a memory table set up. Celebration of Life Friday, May 6, 2022 @ 5:00pm Barber Park Event Center 4049 S Eckert Rd Boise, ID 83716

Idaho has laws in place that govern the process of cremation. For instance, before cremation can take place, it requires authorization from the next of kin or an assigned legal representative. The cremation cannot occur until 24 hours after the death has occurred.

Is embalming required for cremation?

No, embalming is not required for cremation. The decision to embalm may depend on the family's choice for a public viewing or ceremony prior to the cremation. We can guide you through the choices that fit your plans.

Can we hold a funeral service before the cremation?

Absolutely. You may choose to have a traditional funeral service before cremation. We can help arrange for a ceremony that honors your loved one, either at our facilities, a place of worship, or a location that was significant to the deceased.

What is a direct cremation?

Direct cremation is the simplest form of cremation service. It involves cremating the body shortly after passing without a formal service or ceremony. This option is often chosen for its simplicity and affordability, while still allowing families to plan a memorial at a later time if desired.

How long does the cremation process take?

The actual cremation process typically takes a few hours. However, the entire process from the time of death until the cremated remains are returned can take several days, depending on the completion of paperwork and the specific arrangements chosen.

Can the family be present during the cremation?

Yes, we offer the option for families to be present during the initiation of the cremation process. We believe in transparent and compassionate service, allowing families to partake in the final steps if they choose to do so.

How are the remains returned to the family?

The cremated remains are returned to the family in an urn or other permanent container. We offer a variety of urns for selection or you may provide your own. The choice is a personal decision and we can provide guidance if needed.

What should we do with the cremated remains?

There are several options for the final disposition of cremated remains, including burial in a cemetery plot, placement in a columbarium, scattering in a meaningful location, or keeping them in your home in an urn. We can discuss these options with you to find a solution that best honors your loved one's memory.

Do you offer assistance with obituaries?

Yes, our compassionate staff can help you with the creation and submission of an obituary notice to local newspapers or online memorial sites, if desired.

The legal requirements for cremation in Idaho include obtaining a death certificate, completion of a cremation authorization form usually signed by the next of kin, and a waiting period mandated by state law before the cremation can occur. We handle all necessary paperwork to ensure compliance with state regulations.

Are there any items prohibited from being cremated with the deceased?

For safety and environmental reasons, certain items such as batteries, pacemakers, and hazardous materials cannot be cremated with the deceased. We provide a detailed list of prohibited items and ensure compliance for the safety of our staff and the environment.
