Born June 2, 1936 in Boswell, the son of Yuraj George H. and Elizabeth A. (Miller) Dedik. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 44 years, Barbara A. (Jarosyk) Dedik; infant sisters, Elizabeth and Mary; sisters, Teresa Blucas, Agnes Dedik, Verna Sendek and Virginia Ference and brothers, Steve, George and Walter Dedik. Survived by children, Debbie married to Rodney Ashbrook of Hooversville, Robert, Jr. of Jennerstown, Sandy married to Keith Cervenak of Latrobe, Judy married to Greg Scrimager of Jenners and Jim married to Vicki (Francett) of Eagle River, AK; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; sister-in-law, Gloria Dedik of Boswell; brother-in-law, Andy “Diddles” Jarosyk of Ralphton and numerous nieces and nephews. During his retirement, he worked part time for Hoffman Funeral Homes. Member of All Saints Catholic Parish where he was an usher and helped with the maintenance and upkeep of the church. He was also a member of NARFE. Bob enjoyed carpentry work, being out in nature walking, bird watching, gardening, hunting and fishing. He also liked studying history and was an avid reader of Henry David Thoreau. He fulfilled his lifelong dream of visiting Walden Pond in Concord Massachusetts. Survived by his caring and devoted family, sister, Nancy Sopich, with whom he resided; sister-in-law, Penelope “Penny” Sopich; nephew, Michael Sopich and niece, Danielle Sopich and their families. Also survived by daughter, Tammy Cortez; son, David A. Sopich and four grandchildren, all of Nevada. David was a 1966 graduate of Jenner Boswell High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, becoming an aircraft maintenance specialist at George A.F.B. in California. As a reservist, he was a fire fighter on a military airstrip at Edwards A.F.B. He later relocated back home where he was a carpenter until his retirement. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and NASCAR fan and one knew not to disturb him while he was watching them. David will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He hand built his home with help from many friends and family on the same property where his grandparents lived. He enjoyed helping others in need and loved hunting white tailed deer and rabbits with his son and friends. Bob also raised AKC registered beagles and enjoyed collecting and raising exotic pheasants from all over the world. He planted a full garden with sweet corn and potatoes each year to help feed his family and loved tending to his yard. (Bittner) Wolford. Preceded in death by his parents. Survived by siblings, Michelle Kosis and companion Herman Lepley, Jennifer married to Tom Scott, Chris married to Joe Tomko, Delores “Dee” Drummond, Shayla married to Martin Johnson and twin brother Joe. Also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews as well as his beloved dogs Mama and Gracie. Stevie was a very outgoing and caring person. He was a graduate of North Star High School and served 4 years in the Navy. Stevie loved to spend time with his family, paint and draw, being outdoors, shopping and going to the casinos with his sisters. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Friedens Lutheran Cemetery. Preceded in death by her parents. She lived with her beloved grandmother, Gladys O’Baker, in Boswell for many years until Valerie’s marriage. Survived by aunts, uncles, numerous cousins and friends who loved her dearly. Valerie graduated in 1970 at Jenner Boswell Joint High School and was a UPJ graduate with a bachelor of Science Degree. She had 25 years of service with the Somerset County Assistance Office. Faithful member of Hopewell Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and was a Lay Leader to Conference for many years. She also volunteered with the Somerset Mobile Food Bank. She loved baking, reading, sewing and getting together with her family. She had numerous bus trips with her mother and loved her cats. The family would also like to thank all the nurses and staff at Bethlen for their care and compassion. A memorial service will be held Noon on May 25, 2024 at Hopewell Methodist Church, 151 Hopewell Rd., Hollsopple, PA. She was employed by Bell Telephone and then went on to have a successful career in the restaurant industry as a cook. She worked primarily for Hoss’s Restaurants helping establish and open many of their restaurants throughout Pennsylvania and Virginia. A member of Laurel Trinity Lutheran Church, Jennerstown where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Knotty Ladies. Dorothy enjoyed watching old westerns and reading and would often share her books with others. She had a great passion for cooking and would always make sure her family was well fed. She had a great love of dachshunds. Her dog Lucy was with her until the end. The family would like to thank UPMC Somerset Hospice and Home Health for all the care they gave to Dorothy. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, and sports. Lee was a very loving and supportive father and husband. He was also a very kind and sharing person. He brought joy to others and had a wonderful sense of humor. His great smile, quick laugh, and twinkling eyes warmed the hearts of those who knew him.
