Wright, Sr., 84, of Rockford, went home to his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 15, 2024.  Born February 28, 1940, in Rockford, the son of Ellsworth Charles and Marie Adele (Cameron) Wright.  James married Nancy Marie Case on September 16, 1960.  He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.  Jim loved the Lord Jesus and his family very much. He had the Spiritual gift of healing and felt so blessed to be used by God.  He prayed for many that received their healing from the Lord.  Jim (Shortman) was a proud member of Iron Workers Local 498.  Where he was the longest standing in his position of Sergeant-At-Arms.  Shortman was a skilled Signalman, Rigger, and Welder.  He will be dearly missed.
Survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Melissa (Timothy) Powers, Mary Wright, James Wright, Jr. and Chase Lipinski; grandchildren, Stephanie (Jeff) Lichtfuss, Farrahn Reid, Logan, Mason, and Liam Powers, Addison Sheker, and Lindsey (Alex) Brown; great-grandchildren, Emery, Ava, and Cole; sister, Gwendy Wright; and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents; infant sons, Randy and Charles; brothers, Tony, Chuck, Willie, Danny, and Rick Wright and sisters, Pearl Wright, Dorothy Jenkins, Cindy Brown, Teresa Blake and Mary Ellen Kellems.

Edward A. Visel - July 30, 1987 - March 11, 2024

Obituary Preview: Edward Alistair Visel, 36, of Chicago, died March 11, 2024, in his hometown of rural Winnebago, IL after a sixteen-month experience of pancreatic cancer. Born July 30, 1987, Edward was the youngest of five children. He loved playing soccer and was an Eagle Scout; he was a loyal friend. The local forest preserve, Severson Dells, was dear to his heart. The valedictorian of his high school class, Edward went on to study Philosophy at Pomona College, spending part of his studies at the Sorbonne in Paris. He took an active interest in politics, and at various times worked on the campaigns of several candidates, including that of President Obama. He spent a year teaching English in Japan, then taught test preparation for Kaplan in Washington, DC for several years before teaching himself coding and moving into data science work in Chicago. A cerebral contemplative at heart, Edward loved looking for patterns in the world. From his youngest years Edward took good food very seriously, and he always knew how to make a recipe better. He had plans to co-author a recipe book with his mother on how beginners might cook good food using simple ingredients.
He leaves behind his parents, Gloria and Gerard Visel, siblings Maresa (Rob Boeke), Dan (Kim), Sr. Jeana, OSB, and John (Lauren), nieces Alisa, Harriet, and Flora, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many friends.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson St., Rockford, IL. Bradley J. Lesher - July 19, 1952 - March 09, 2024

Obituary Preview: Bradley Joseph Lesher, 71, of Byron, IL, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024.  Born July 19, 1952, in Freeport, the son of Joseph Clarence and Lulu Muriel (Clark) Lesher.  Brad graduated from Harlem High School in 1970.  He worked many years at Barber Colman as a tool and die maker.  Brad made several lifelong friends during his time working there.  He enjoyed model trains in his youth and restoring cars as an adult.  During his time in the garage.  Brad taught his son, Matt many mechanical skills.  Always teaching the kids to be honest and fair.  He loved driving his Corvettes during the summer, participating in car shows, car clubs and going on trips.  Every summer, Brad would travel to Alaska to spend time with his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.  Brad enjoyed his hikes and going to see the old abandoned car at Herbert Glacier Trail while visiting.  He was a very special Papa to his eight grandkids.
Survived by his children, Brandie (Steven) Johnson and Matt (Stephanie) Lesher; grandchildren, Alexandra, Samantha, Benjamin, Brady, Bri, Ashton, Joseph and Colton; sisters, Linda (Gordon) Ulvog and Diane Ausherman; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents.  The family would like to give a special thank you to Brad’s girlfriend, Prudy Court.

Virginia J. Steen - September 09, 1925 - March 07, 2024

Obituary Preview: Virginia J. Steen, 98, of Rockford, formerly of Waterloo, IA, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024.  Born September 9, 1925, in Fairabank, IA, the daughter of Charles and Leta (Wroten) Ohls.  Virginia married Richard Steen on June 12, 1948 in Minneapolis, MN.  He predeceased her on May 6, 2002.  She worked at St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store and Santa Claus Industry.  Virginia was a member of Life Church South in Rockford.  She was active with Rosie the Riveter during WWII.  Virginia enjoyed working on John Deere Tractors, upholstery, playing BINGO, cards, slots machines and quilting.  She loved cooking especially pies, gardening, flowers and canning.  Virginia loved her family.  To her family she was their Queen and she will be greatly missed by us all.  She was a very giving and loving person.  One of the last things Virginia said was “Everyone is welcome here - come and go as you please - but I love everyone.”
Survived by her children, Sharon (Gene) Smelser, Gary (Jan) Steen, Shirley Dierks, Sandy (Dan) Hildebrand, and Melvin (Peggi) Steen; grandchildren, Angie (Jim), Dana, Rich, Jeff (Melinda), Rhonda, Heather, Sherri (Derek), Justin (Tabitha), Myssi (Jose), Brittany, Katelyn, Nick, Elise, and Jon (Kay); 23 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Brickman; and many nieces and nephews.  Also predeceased by son, David Steen; son-in-law, Larry Dierks; two grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; seven brothers; and three sisters.  The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice and their staff Monica, Iris, Trish and Chaplain Joe Militello and Life Church of Rockford family for their support during this time.

Margie M. Seger - November 30, 1944 - March 06, 2024

Obituary Preview: Margie Mae Seger, daughter of Lewis and Estella Mae (Fuller) Lierman, fought a courageous battle with cancer and peacefully went to meet her Heavenly Father on the morning of March 6, 2024.  She was 79.  Margie was born on November 30, 1944 in Cashion, Arizona. Her family moved around the country during her childhood years, but eventually established roots in Rockford, Illinois.  Margie graduated from Rockford East High School.  Margie married Eugene Seger in 1966 and they had three sons. Brian Seger of Rockford, IL, Eric (Charlene) Seger of Bozeman, Montana, and Mark (Tracy) Seger of Portland, Oregon.  Margie is loved by and close to her three wonderful grandchildren Judah, Allison, and Owen, and her fur grandbaby, Denali.
Margie loved all things beautiful. Her talents for serving others and gift-giving, paired with her love of aesthetics, made for wonderful gifts, meals, parties, quilts and more. Margie was a follower of Jesus.  She organized a prayer group while her sons were in high school. Her grandchildren are reaping the benefits of their prayers. Margie remained friends with her prayer group for decades.  Margie was also a Patriot.  She loved her country and volunteered as an election judge from 2014 until she was no longer physically able to serve.
Margie was predeceased by her father, Lewis Lierman, mother Estella Lierman, brother Robert Lierman and her favorite Aunt Helen. Margie is survived by her children Brian Seger, Eric Seger, and Mark Seger; siblings Fred (Lorraine) Lierman and Richard Lierman; half siblings Kathy (Lynn) Hopkins and Ted (Dorene) Lierman; and sister-in-law's Winnie (Lance) Nelson and Sally Lierman.

Obituary Preview: Mary Kellems, 87, went home to be with the Lord Jesus, Tuesday, March 5, 2024. Born July 12, 1936, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Ellsworth Charles Wright and Marie Adell Cameron. She married Eunice Kellems February 12, 1955.
Survivors include her son, Jim (Peggy) Kellems, daughter, Bertie (Ron) Bellars, brother Jim (Nancy) Wright, sister Gwendy Wright, grandchildren, Mary, Casey, Stephanie, Shannon, Jeremy, Richie, Amanda, Bianca, and Zach, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband Eunice Kellems, daughter, Pamela Stewart, son, Richard Kellems, grandson, Ryan Kellems, brothers Tony Wright, Chuck Wright, Willie Wright, Danny Wright, Rick Wright, sisters Pearl Wright, Dorothy Jenkins, Cindy Brown, and Teresa Blake and many special friends at Gracewood Assisted Living, Lino Lakes Minnesota.
Mary worked for Mallquist Butter & Egg Company for many years before going to work at Rockford Hardware Manufacturing. She worked until health problems forced her into early retirement. She was a dependable, hard-working woman who loved her family dearly. Her greatest joy was to spend time with each and every one of her grandchildren. She always said, “Every baby is good news”, no matter the circumstance. She lived in her home on Cannon St. for 58 years before moving to Minnesota with Jim & Peggy where she was a blessing to have near. She was especially thankful for all the help Peggy gave her in the last years of her life and there will be a huge empty space in all our lives now that she’s gone.
Service will be Monday, March 25, 10:00am with a luncheon immediately following at Harvest Field Church, 5620 Auburn Rd, Rockford IL 61101, Pastor Melissa Powers officiating. Following the luncheon there will be a brief graveside service at Scandinavian Cemetery, 1700 Rural St. Rockford, IL 61107.

Sonja Brace - June 12, 1935 - March 05, 2024

Obituary Preview: Sonja J. Brace, 88, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.  Born June 12, 1935, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Hjalmar and Ingeborg (Hoglind) Carlson.  Sonja married Harold F. Brace in 1969, sharing 51 years together.  Graduate of Rockford East High School, class of 1953.  Sonja was a legal secretary for Reno, Zahm, and Folgate Law Firm, a crossing guard for Maud Johnson School, and both a teacher and secretary at Barbara Olson Center of Hope where she retired.
Sonja’s Swedish heritage was something she was very proud of and was a huge part of her life.  She enjoyed teaching many children Swedish songs at the Vasa Swedish Lodge.   Sonja was the Midsummer Queen for the Swedish Historical Society.  She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford, IL, where she taught Sunday school for several years and sang in the choir.   Sonja was a part of the Big Sisters program of Rockford, IL. She was a bat girl for the Rockford Peaches in 1953.  Sonja recently participated in several events throughout the state line area for the Rockford Peaches organization.
Sonja loved her husband, Harold, dearly.  She stood by his side and was his caregiver for the last several years of his life.  Sonja would always put others before herself and found happiness in giving to others.  She was always making sure family and close friends were remembered.  Sonja had many accomplishments, but to her, being a mother and a grandmother were her highest honors.  Her children and grandchildren were very special to her.  Sonja enjoyed writing, watching her favorite TV shows, fast food, animals, pictures, music, gift giving, and spending time with family.
Survived by her daughter, Carla Brace-Mizner; brother, Arnold (Cathy) Carlson; stepdaughter, Valerie (Gary) Gunderson; grandchildren, Courtney (Andrew), Haley (Jared), Aron (Kelsey), Nick, Braden, Whitney, and Riley; many great-grandchildren, two step-granddaughters, a niece and a nephew; and special friend, Mary Patterson.
Sonja was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son, Bradley Brace; and parents, Hjalmar and Ingeborg Carlson.

Soderberg, 75, of Roscoe, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024.  Born December 17, 1948, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Richard Curtis Leonardson and Lucille Victoria Kuzniewicz.  Graduate of East High School in 1967.  Dee Dee married Leroy “Wink” Soderberg, Jr. on March 16, 1968.  He predeceased her on April 29, 1989.
Dee Dee graduated with her Associates Degree in Nursing from Rock Valley College in 1982.  She continued her nursing education at Rockford University and graduated magna cum laude with her B.SN in 1985.  After a number of years working as a nurse, she chose to go to NIU law school and graduated in 1995.  She was semi-retired and deeply involved in volunteer work throughout the community.  Her passion for voter registration led her to being the co-chair of the Voter Service Committee LWVGR.  In her spare time, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and traveling.  She enjoyed spending summers at Castle Rock Lake, on the water, with family and friends.
Survived by her children, Chad (Anne) Soderberg and Barb (Matt) Zimmerman; grandchildren, Reid and Dean Soderberg, Kelsey, Kendra and Kailin Zimmerman, Kayla (Bryce) Cullen, and Justin Tilley.  Also predeceased by her parents. Hagberg, 89, of Rockford, IL, was promoted to glory on Saturday, March 2, 2024.  Born on January 21, 1935, in Rockford, the son of Albert S. and Lenora (Bliese) Hagberg, John was a graduate of Harlem High School, Class of 1952.  He trained at Great Lakes U.S. Naval Base and graduated from Valparaiso University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.  John married his sweetheart, Karin S. Anderson, on November 4, 1961. They were blessed by God to share 62 years of marriage together.
John was employed at Barber Colman Company, Sundstrand Aviation, and at Mattison Machine Works / Mattison Technologies - where he served for 35 years in the Engineering Department, retiring as the Director of Engineering in 1996. John was an active member of First Free Church, where he was a part of the Maranatha Sunday School Class, the Men’s Male Chorus, and the AWANA program for kids. Prior to serving at First Free Church, he was the radio narrator for Redeemer Lutheran Church for 20 years.
John is survived by his wife, Karin; sons, Paul (Melvi) Hagberg, Daniel (Jody) Hagberg, and Steven (Joyce) Hagberg; grandchildren, Sarah (James) Feiner, Michael (Brittany), Andrew, Stephen (Katie), Jonathan (Hannah), Caleb (Stephanie), Joshua (Emily), Isaac, Rebekah, Josiah, Samuel, and Alexander Hagberg, and Nathan (Kirstin) Broadfield; great-grandchildren, Joel, Emilia, and Myra Hagberg, Jordan and Natalie Feiner, and Jackson and Lucas Broadfield; nieces, Elizabeth (Dale) Keegan, Karla (Jeff) Haberstich, and Joy (Lee) Bogdonas; nephews, Robert (Kate) and Jeff (Lynn) Anderson; sister-in-law, Sandra Anderson; and brothers-in-law, Arne (Donna) and Dennis (Nancy) Anderson.  He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Shirley (Raymond) Edwards.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, March 22, 2024, in the Chapel at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center, 3470 N. Obituary Preview: Delores Fenn, 86, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.  Born March 1, 1937, in Rockford, the daughter of Gerald D. and Opal V. (Speilman) Plumb.  Graduate of West High School, Class of 1955.  During high school Delores was on the advertising staff for year book, sang in Acapella Choir and the school quartet.  She was also a member of the National Honor Society and sang in Park Larks chorus and the barber shop quartet. Delores married Jerry “Mike” Fenn in 1958 and then later married Richard E. Anderson in 1986.  She was employed by National Lock Co., Dan-Car Sprinkler Co., Suby-Von Hayden Accounting and Didier’s Greenhouse.  After retirement she would drive patients for their chemo and radiation for the American Cancer Society for eight years and also volunteered for Goodwill doing taxes for low-income individuals for the last nine years.  Delores was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for 42 years and Our Masters United Methodist Church from 1979 to 2018.  Then returning to Grace United Methodist Church in 2019.  She was active in church choir, served on financial committees for several years and volunteered knitting prayer shawls and prayer squares.  Delores played in Moose Club kitchen band entertaining at high rises and nursing homes.  All of her life she enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafts, knitting and crocheting. Her family was always of utmost importance.
Survived by her children, Michael (Darcie), Mark (Cynthia), Matthew (Cindy); grandchildren, Michael, Megan, and Emily; sister, Sheryl (Steinar) Grimstad; special niece, Kelly; and faithful cat companion, Mischief.  Predeceased by her parents; and husbands, J. Mike Fenn and Richard E. Anderson. William H. Johnson - March 16, 1931 - February 25, 2024

Obituary Preview: William H. “Bill” Johnson, 92, of Rockford, died on Sunday, February 25, 2024. Born in New York City on March 16, 1931 to Jakob William and Gertrude Stern Johnson. Attended Bronxville, New York schools where he excelled as a first baseman for Bronxville High School baseball team and as a center for the football team. While in high school he was certified as a pharmaceutical apprentice and worked for the local pharmacy. He attended the Clausen School of Music in Oklahoma where he also played lead drums for the Doug Kay Orchestra. After graduating he played in the Piedmont League and the Philadelphia League. He joined the Navy, graduating from the U.S. Naval Hospital Corps school at the Great Lakes Naval Base and receiving further surgical training at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. He was placed in charge of surgical clinic at the Marine base in Parris Island, S.C. and then was assigned to the USS Talledega, an attack and transport vessel, as a Hospitalman. The ship was stationed at ports in Japan and China. While in Yokosuka Harbor in Tokyo Bay he received a commendation for engaging in an attempt to rescue a Japanese national who fell into the water during gale forced winds. He was responsible for giving medical treatment to the crew as well as Marines injured in the Korean conflict. He received honorable discharge in 1953 and returned to Chicago where he was employed by a south side pharmacy and attended Roosevelt University. He married Bonnie M. Borklund on March 9, 1954. They lived in Rockford and started a family. He was employed by Phillip Morris Inc. as a district manager for the firm. He most enjoyed their Galena retreat where he loved fishing the Mississippi on his Boston Whaler and going ice fishing with his children. Bill was an outdoor enthusiast who loved animals and birdwatching. He was a fan of the then Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Yankees. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. His favorite saying: “Who has more fun than us humans?”
William is survived by his wife and children: Sandra (Bob) Brady, Susan (Bill) Nork, William (Eileen) Johnson, Thomas Johnson and Laura Johnson; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by brother, J. Paul Johnson. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave. Rockford, IL., 61104 with Jay Quinn officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Johnson, 82, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024.  He was born January 5, 1942, in Rockford, the son of Edwin and Bernice (Peterson) Johnson and was the youngest brother to Mavis Hagemann and Terry Johnson. He graduated from Rockford East High School in 1959 and later from Augustana College.  He attended Hamma School of Theology in Wittenberg, Ohio, for one year and later earned a Master’s of Science in Marriage & Family Therapy from NIU.
After Augustana Harlan spent three years in the Peace Corps in India, falling in love with the country, people, and food. Harlan learned Telugu during this time and would often start conversations with people throughout the years, surprising them. Harlan married Lou Ann Davies on September 4, 1971 in a pine forest, celebrating each other and their love of nature. Harlan and Lou Ann’s wedding bands have daisies on them, a flower that does not smell like a rose, but lasts a long time.  In the 1970’s Harlan and Lou Ann moved to Kodaikanal India for two years and were house parents to a dorm of 6th - 8th grade boys at Kodaikanal International School. Harlan and Lou Ann adopted their daughter, Jennifer, eleven days after she was born.  He often said that was the moment that their lives were changed and blessed forever. Harlan loved having new experiences, especially traveling together with Lou Ann and Jenny, encouraging his daughter to see the world and love the diversity of people and places. In 2000, Harlan and Lou Ann moved with Jennifer to Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu India, sharing their love of India with their daughter.  Harlan loved his son-in-law, Nolan.   They enjoyed having many conversations.  He was also so happy to be a grandpa to Xander, reading books together. Harlan’s extended family was very special to him.   It was important to him to stay connected, sharing and keeping traditions that were meaningful. Harlan had a great need to contribute to the betterment of the world and to bring people together.  He was a Marriage & Family Therapist and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor for 44 years, never retiring and finding great fulfillment in meeting and connecting with people.  Harlan loved Marshall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication book and principles.  If you knew Harlan, he was always wanting and willing to share what he had learned. Harlan was a lifetime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.  During his life, he enjoyed singing in various groups.  He had a beautiful voice.  He loved Emmanuel and the people there and was amazed to have a place where he could continue on his spiritual journey, being enriched by many faiths and friends throughout his life. Harlan was very civic minded.  His activities included being a member of Healing Racism, writing for the Rockford Register Star for many years, hosting a radio show and developing a travel log of India. He volunteered in many places including the Civilian Medical Resources Network and as an election judge. He participated in Eliminate Racism, Interfaith Council, and the Rockford Chamber of Commerce.  He was a winner of the NAACP 2011 Service Award and served as chair on the Environmental Justice Team, and the Park-er-Woods subdivision chair of the Communication Committee.  He received the Race Unity Award from the Bahái Community, he started the Northern Illinois Institute for the Healing of Racism, Inc., “Come together Rockford,” and frequently shared that he considered himself a “Consultant to Human Systems".  He was also a supporter of numerous other local organizations and causes.  Harlan had a lifelong passion for social and environmental justice.  He was an activist and continually was working to plant ideas throughout the community, always open to share his thoughts and hear those of others, even if they were not the same as his. Harlan never met a stranger in his life, but many fellow humans. He is survived by his wife, Lou Ann; daughter, Jennifer (Nolan) Olson; grandson, Xander Olson; sister, Mavis Hagemann; brother, Terry (Kay) Johnson; and many special nieces and cousins.  He is predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law, Chet Hagemann, and nephew Kurt Hagemann.

Obituary Preview: Anita Elizabeth Jacobson, 84, of Rockford, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024.  Born November 29, 1939 the daughter of Mauritz and Astrid Swenson. At the age of ten she set sail with her mother, father, sister, and brother from her birthplace of Bor, Sweden, to America.  Little did she know that began her lifelong love affair with travel.
Anita grew up in Rockford, IL, attending Rockford East High School where she met and married Thomas Jacobson, a loving union lasting 60 years.  He pre-deceased her on February 26, 2019. Together they had three children, Scott (Jeanine) Jacobson, Lori (Jeff) Fairchild, and Dawn (Fred) Shappert, who together caused great laughter, many questions and a life of love.  Anita and Thomas had 4 grandchildren, Grant and Mackenzie Fairchild, Eric (Alisha) Jacobson, and Ann (Bryce Boyer) Jacobson.
Anita began her sales career at the Rockford Register Star newspaper as a classified sales person.  She had great success in sales. If you’ve ever spoken with her about not doing a favor for her, but ended up happily doing said favor, you know her legendary sales skills.  Over the years she grew well beyond that position and ended her 29-year career as a Major Accounts Sales Representative.  What she was even better at was being a wonderful person and friend.  Kind, loving, caring and funny, she wanted to really get to know a person, not just collect minor friendships.  She was an avid dog lover, gardener, theatre and art lover, world traveler, grandmother extraordinaire and a very competitive canasta player.  Until recently, she remained very active in her high school reunion planning and the Calvin Park Boulevard Association. She was lovely to look at, possessing a fabulous style, and graciousness, she was lovable and fun.  She will be missed like no other.

Kingsbury, 92, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.  She was born on May 9, 1931 in Rockford, the daughter of Victor and Gladys (Skoglund) Dahlgren.  Lois graduated from Rockford East High School in 1949.  Lois was artistic and wanted to attend the Art Institute of Minneapolis but instead decided to get married and raise her family.  She married Floyd “Bud” Kingsbury on December 30, 1950.  Bud predeceased her on May 24, 2010.  After providing care for her children and oldest granddaughter Tricia she went back to work for HC Prange Company as a manager for 18 years.  She retired in 1992 to care for her youngest granddaughter Brittni and her other grandchildren.
Lois was the best loving, caring, and generous person.  She always put her family first.  Her faith and family were most important to her.  She always had a beautiful smile and always looked beautiful and in style.  She loved flowers and maintaining her flower garden at her homes.

(Altenhein) Hoeppner.  Twice a Veteran of the U.S. Army.  Curtis married Gayle Greenman on May 20, 1960.  Together they celebrated 64 years.  He worked for the Harlem School District for 27 ½ years as the Business MGR before retiring.  Curtis enjoyed basketball and baseball and playing basketball and baseball in high school and college.  He was a member of the 32nd Degree Mason and Shriners for years.
Curtis thoughtfully reasoned the way he did things and was always there for his family when they needed him. Steadfast, honest, and fair in all dealings with family, friends, and in business. Trustworthy, diplomatic, and courteous at all times. A rock-solid anchorage in any storm for his family throughout his entire life. A model husband and father to be emulated. Curtis was also a kind, and generous individual. With his thoughtful blue eyes, he would share with you his lifelong lessons, stories, and wisdom. A calm yet powerful demeanor about him, you would feel his sense of duty, un-relenting tenacity to go above and beyond for his family and a big heart to love more and more. His grandchildren adored him, and he lit up anytime he saw them. As he soars high above with the angels, we know while we have lost a magnificent man, he is forever ingrained in our memories. He has given each and every one of us, a piece of his essence to hold on to and his entire family will always think of him with intense love and adoration.

(England) Frankenberg.  Graduate of West High School and Iowa State University.  Veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War.  Bob married Anna “Ann” M. VanOsdol on October 5, 1957 at Christ United Methodist Church.  Together they were married 66 wonderful years; he doted on Ann like a princess. Bob worked as a mechanical engineer in the Methods and Tool Design department at Woodward Governor, designing aircraft and ship controls.  During this time with Woodward, Bob and Ann lived and worked in Japan for three years beginning in 1962.  Bob enjoyed traveling all over the U.S., Japan, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.  He also enjoyed photography, reading and camping.  Bob had the gentlest soul and was the smartest and kindest man you knew.  He was so proud of his children and grandson.
