Obituary Preview: LeRoy ~ L. Edward ‘Ed’ Mooney passed away on March 1st, 2024. He is survived by his daughters, Erin M. Mooney and Kerry Adams (Christopher Adams); grandson, Matthew Adams and cousin Charlie (Barbara) Maloy.
Ed was the son of Leo B. Mooney and Madeline G. Maloy Mooney of LeRoy. His loving wife of 32 years, Margaret ‘Peggy’ Miggins Mooney passed in 2019.
Ed first worked at the Jello before serving in the US Army. He moved to Rochester to join Kodak and retired as a Fire Department Inspector. Post Kodak, he enjoyed many years working at the Genesee Country Village and Museum.
He will be missed by family and friends, especially those he saw frequently at his favorite breakfast spots.
Family and friends are invited to attend his Rite of Christian Burial to be held on Friday, March 8 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Peter’s Church, 44 Lake Street, LeRoy. Interment in Machpelah Cemetery will be private.

Obituary Preview: Carter John Smith passed peacefully in the arms of his loving parents on February 29, 2024 at Golisano Children's Hospital after a courageous battle with HLHS.
Carter was born to Ashley and Brandon Smith on January 16, 2024.
In just 6 weeks with us, Carter was able to touch so many hearts. He sure knew how to light up his room on 6 South in the Pediatric Cardiac Care Center. Always doing things on “Carter” time and showing us just how he was feeling with his big expressive eyes. Loved being read books, watching Moana, wearing his bombas socks, listening to Mommy and Daddy talk to him and falling asleep with his lamb sound machine.
He will be unbelievably missed and cherished by not only his parents, but also his grandparents; John and Lorie Fix and Rick and Nancy Smith; his uncle and aunt, Dylan Fix and Jessica Preston; his uncle, Ryan Smith and great-grandmother, Rita DiFrancisco, along with many great aunts and uncles, cousins and friends, who may have never had a chance to meet Carter, but whose love was felt everyday.
Ashley and Brandon, along with their families would like to thank the amazing nurses and doctors of the Pediatric Cardiac Care Center at Golisano Children's Hospital who cared for Carter as if he was their own.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, March 5 from 3 ~ 7 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake St. Rd. (Rt. 19), LeRoy. Carter will be laid to rest privately at St. Francis Cemetery in LeRoy.

She is survived by her daughter, Amanda (Roland) Smythe (grandchildren: James Burns the 3rd, Devon Kent, and Samantha Kent), and her 2 sons, Daniel Smythe and Timothy (Keri) Smythe; the whole Cross gang; Bill Connell and Kelly Connell; her mother, Agnes (Dan) Snyder; step-mother, Joanne Myers and her brothers, Mike (Kim) Myers and Steve (Kailey) Myers; many nieces and nephews and many many grandchildren, along with her canine companions, Maple and Hussle. She was predeceased by her husband, Lynn R. Cross, her father, Bob Myers and her beloved dog, Aries. WE ALL LOVE AND DEEPLY MISS U MOM!!!!!!! Pam worked at Coopervision in Scottsville for many years until she retired in June 2023. She enjoyed going to the casino, drawing, hanging out with her fur babies, but most importantly, being with the ones she loved!!!! She loved and cared about her family and friends and made sure EACH AND EVERYONE OF US KNEW THAT!!!!!
May the memories and impressions she made on each and everyone's lives, live and carry on!!! There will be no calling hours as she requested. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.

Obituary Preview: Bergen ~ Donald George Hart, age 96, passed away Monday afternoon (February 26, 2024) at United Memorial Medical Center.
He was born July 11, 1927 in Kendall, N.Y., a son of the late George W. and Bessie Koehler Hart.
Don was a proud Navy veteran, serving in WWII. He will be remembered for his love of family and his Bergen community. Don wore many hats over the years. He owned an excavation business as well as a sawmill. He became the Town of Bergen Highway Superintendent, serving for 17 years and was a past chief of the Bergen Fire Dept. Don was the oldest living Mason in Bergen, with over 65 years of membership. He also was an avid hunter and a life member of the Bergen Rod & Gun Club.
He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Kathleen (Michael) Hammerl of Bergen; his four grandchildren, Emily Hammerl-Vegso (Roland Vegso) of Athens, GA and their children, Oskar, Ilona and Felix; Patricia (Jared) Plucknette of Bergen and their children, Nina, Michael and Rory; Steven (Laura) Hammerl of Spencerport and their children, Augustus and Gabriel; and Kathrine Hammerl of Bergen; sisters-in-law, Patricia (Edward) DeMars of North Chili and JoAnne Buda of Batavia; dear friend, Jerry MacConnell of Chittenango, N.Y., many nieces and nephews, along with his friends at the 400 Towers.
Don was predeceased by his siblings, Robert Hart, Leonard Hart, John Hart and Minnie Zenke and companion, Mary Lou Swabb.
Don’s family will be present to receive friends on Friday, March 8 from 4 ~ 7 PM at the Sage Pavilion, 62 South Lake Avenue, Bergen. Interment in Mt. Rest Cemetery will be private.

Shanon was born in Batavia on May 26th, 1979. She was a 1997 graduate of Pavilion Central School and GCC School of Nursing. Shanon lived passionately as a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend and healer. Shanon worked at United Memorial Medical Center as a Registered Nurse for many years and then Genesee Orthopedics before she decided to embark on a new journey with her sister, opening The Farmer’s Wife in Pavilion. As Shanon took ill, she continued to help others with a holistic approach who were fighting illness battles. Shanon thrived during her illness by living with purpose and positivity; she would encourage you all to do the same.
There are no calling hours, per Shanon’s request. Please join Shanon’s family for a Celebration of Her Life on March 10th at 12:00 PM at BW’s Restaurant in Pavilion, NY. To support her spiritualty and strength & courage, she would like you to wear purple or black.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Hobbs, daughter Carrie (Oak) and grandson Stone Miller, brother and sister, Michael and Lisa Stappenbacher, along with several nieces.
Steven worked many years for RG&E and also as a police mechanic for the Town of Greece. Steven had various interests, he enjoyed antiques, 60’s music, Corvettes and attending car shows. After retirement his interests included making woodworking creations for family and friends.
He will be sadly missed by his family. There are no calling hours.

Obituary Preview: James D. Woodworth, age 77, of LeRoy, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, January 31, 2024 in the loving arms of his twin daughters.
James was born January 24, 1947 in Buffalo, NY a son of the late Deane and Louise Woodworth.
Woody grew up in the small town of Morganville, NY and was a LeRoy HS graduate, Class of 65’. He enlisted in the USAF fall of 67’ and served until the summer of 73’ as an aircraft mechanic. He proudly served his one year tour at Korat Royal Thai AFB, May, 1969 thru May, 1970 as a crew chief working with F-4E Phantom Fighter/Bombers on the fight line. Woody was well known and respected by his community as he serviced so many through his handiwork of plumbing and construction over the years. He was a loving father and a special friend to those closest to him. Always taking great pride in his family and work. He had an outrageous sense of humor, cleverness and attention to detail. Woody was always the life of the party. His pride and joy were his twin daughters (5:59 and 6:01) and his five beautiful grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Caroline (Andrew) Costa, Rebecca (Stephen) Saeva; grandchildren Christopher (10), Aiden (8) and Liam Costa (4), Gabrielle (G Pa’s “Queen” 9) and Evan Saeva (7); Sister Susan (Jim) Moore and Step-sister AnnMarie Ellis, nieces Kimberly Dubois, Carrie Pearce and nephew Johnny Gioia.
He was predeceased by his sister Sherry Louise Woodworth (2010), Step-Mother Elsie M. Woodworth (2014) and step-brother John C. Ellis (2015).
Graveside Services and Military Honors for Woody will take place on Saturday, May 11 at 10:00 AM at the Morganville Cemetery, Morganville Road, Stafford, N.Y.

George lived his life to the fullest and by his own rules. He worked making prosthetics at the Amputee Treatment Center in Batavia NY, helping people and changing lives.
George made friends anywhere he went, passed on his words of encouragement and wisdom to all who needed it. He loved with his whole heart and touched many lives.
George will be remembered and truly missed by his family and friends.
George is survived by his wife, Deborah J. Hall; daughters Milissa, Michelle and Elizabeth (Daniel) Murphy; grandchildren, Noah T. Poteat, Olivia M. Murphy and Daniel J. Murphy II; siblings; Michael (Terri) Hall, Ellen Guptill and Frank and Ann Capuano; special friends, Michael Love and Phil Thrall, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Mark (Sarah) Tomaszewski and Hon. Donald O’Geen (Debra Owens); granddaughters, Conor (Travis) Bleier, Krysta Tomaszewski, Anna O’Geen and Leah O’Geen; sisters, Cathryn (Patrick) McCay and Deborah L. Smith; brother, Thaddeus (Maritas) Cotter; brother-in-law, Mark Giesler, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Philip J. O’Geen; sister, Teresa W. Giesler and brother, Ronald Earl Cotter.

Obituary Preview: Mary Lois (Canfield) Caruthers, 90, passed away peacefully at home in Mulberry, Fl. with her family on Sunday, January 21, 2024. Born in LeRoy, NY to Sarah Fagan and Edward Criger. Mary loved her home in Florida and enjoyed being a snowbird coming to New York in the summer to spend time with family and friends.
Mary had many nicknames, in LeRoy, NY, she was known as “Mikey” and in Mulberry, FL., she was known as Miss Mary. Whether Mary was in NY or Florida, she was well loved by all. She was known for her fashion sense, her kindness and her great sense of humor. She liked to have a good time and enjoyed Happy Hour with friends and family.
Mary lived a beautiful life. She worked at the LeRoy pharmacy for many years, then retired. She loved to spend the summers at our family camp in Stillwater Reservoir in the Adirondacks. Then, when it started to get cold up north, her husband, Bo and her would head home to Florida. They loved to sit in their carport and watch what was going on and often had loving neighbors stop over to hang awhile.
Mary had many adopted children as all our friends wanted to claim her as their own. For the last five years, her loving son, Richard stayed with Mary so she could be in her home.
Mary was an extremely loving and caring mother and wife. And a very proud grandmother. She is survived by her children; Donna Friedman (Bill), Richard Canfield, Susan LaVallee (Glen), as well as her many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family, friends and her beloved dog, Molly. She was predeceased by her first husband, Gordon Canfield and also predeceased by her second husband, Bo Caruthers, Sr. She was predeceased by her daughters Sharon Wilkerson (John) and Barbara Ellingham.
Family Services will be held at a later date in LeRoy, NY. A memorial service will be held in Mulberry, FL at the American Legion, Post 72, 1500 N. Church Ave. on January 24, 2024 at 3:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to ASPCA and/or The American Legion, Post 72.

Jerry joined the US Marine Corps at age 17. He settled in NY after his discharge and spent the rest of his life here. Jerry was a kind, caring man who would give you the shirt off his back. He was a cat lover, rifle enthusiast, expert wood whittler and loved to play cards.
Jerry will be missed by his family including his niece, Erica (Ian) Jermy, great-niece, Erica Marciano, his sisters-in-law, Loretta Vosburgh and Jennie Carter, his brother, Steve (Paula) Clark, sister-in-law, Diane Clark, nephews, Brent Clark, Scott Clark, Bobby Joe Clark, Chad Clark, Rance Castellari, Greg Stewart; nieces, RanaLynn Castellari and Kathy Stewart, great-niece, Sophia Jermy and great-great-nephew, Nathan Marciano.

Surviving are her beloved five children; son in law, Bill Baxter, their children, Michelle Baxter and Cortney (Mat) Sanfilippo; daughter, Donna (Fern) Thompson and her children, Jamee (Denis) Naujokas and Mark (Cindy) Thompson; son, Norman (Cindy) Carney and his two sons, Christopher (Hema) Carney and Brett (Jessica) Carney; son, Richard Carney and his children, Jennifer Carney and Tyler (Estefania) Carney; son, Bruce (Lisa) Carney and his children, Elias Carney and Emily Carney; son, Donald (Mary) Carney and his children, Elizabeth (RJ) Mills, Ashley (David) Clark, Stefanie Carney, Joe Carney, Christine (Adam) Zuch and Becky Cowell. Laura has twenty seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by niece and nephew, Barbara and David Uhly of Virginia, as well as several other nieces and nephews. Also surviving are sisters in law, Mary Louise Bailor and Shirley Carney, brothers in law, William Carney and Harold (Josie) Carney.
Laura was a 1944 graduate of LeRoy High and graduate of Rochester Business Institute with a Medical Secretarial Degree and later Accredited Records Technician (ART) Degree. She retired after many years from the Medical Records Department at the former Genesee Memorial Hospital in Batavia.
Following her retirement, she was a volunteer at United Way and Red Cross and worked at Lovey Day Care. Laura was a Life Member (confirmed in 1940), past Deacon and teacher of the LeRoy First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed her involvement with the Linwood Grange, Linwood Friendly Club, Poplar Corners Home and Garden Club, Pavilion Young at Heart Group, LeRoy Historical Society and the Essex Vermont Historical Group.
She loved children and any activities concerning children. Laura was a former 4-H leader, Girl Scout Leader, AFS parent to Ecuadorian student (Gonzalo), Fresh Air mom to Rosie and MaryAnn of the Bronx, Mom to Frank Shea and host to French Agricultural Students, Michel and Vincente. She was an avid reader, enjoyed daily crossword puzzles and loved Genealogy.

Obituary Preview: Wyoming ~ Danny L. Yauchzee, age 76, of Main Street, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday (Jan. 10, 2024) at Wyoming County Community Hospital.
He was born April 2, 1947 in Batavia, a son of the late George and Eleanor Mattice Yauchzee.
Danny will be remembered for his love of family, friends and his country. He was a very proud veteran, having served in Viet Nam with the US Air Force from 1967 – 1971. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1849 in Wyoming and a longtime mechanic and repairman for Cooper Collision in LeRoy. He enjoyed tinkering in his barn and was never afraid to tackle a new project.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Mitzi Flanagan Yauchzee; his children, Denny (Shannon) Yauchzee, Luke (Nichole) Yauchzee, Gavin Yauchzee, Heather Thorpe, Sarah (Bryan) Wyskiel and Timothy (Courtney) Penders; his brothers, Ed (Joanne) Yauchzee and Tom (Carole) Yauchzee; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Linda Cooper Yauchzee in 1987 and his sister, Dorothy (Bill) Byam.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, January 20 from 2 ~ 4 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake St. Rd., LeRoy. Interment with military honors in Machpelah Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.

She was a very loving and devoted Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Friend who just adored her Grandchildren. She retired from the LeRoy Village Hall after 23 years of service. She was a member of many organizations including the Ladies Auxiliary, Red Hatters as well as enjoying many card and game clubs and trips to the Casino’s. She was an avid fan of “her” Buffalo Bills. GO BILLS!
She will be missed with endless sadness by her children, Thomas (Lisa ) Steen, Terrie Lamendola, Patty (Vince) Giammarva and Donna (Tom Jr.) Gates; grandchildren, Keri Steen, Greg Steen, Thomas (Shannon) Lamendola, Alex (Sirie) Giammarva, Kaleigh (Jordan) Fahnestock, Courtney (Zach) Ewert, Jessie (Mike) Platek and Thomas Gates III; great-grandchildren, Lyla Steen; Dylan, Joey and Livy Lamendola; McKinley, Monroe and Lincoln Fahnestock and Mason Platek, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Thomas E. Steen, Sr.; siblings Lena O. Frank and Donald O’Geen.
